Πάντες All δέ now οἱ - πιστεύοντες having believed ἦσαν were ἐπί together τό the αὐτό same καί and εἶχον having ἅπαντα all things κοινά in common; καί and τά the κτήματα possessions καί and τάς the ὑπάρξεις goods ἐπίπρασκον they were selling καί and διεμέριζον were dividing αὐτά them πᾶσιν to all, καθότι as ἄν - τὶς anyone χρείαν need εἶχεν· had. Καθ ̓ Every ἡμέραν day τέ and προσκαρτεροῦντες steadfastly continuing ὁμοθυμαδόν with one accord ἐν in τῷ the ἱερῷ, temple, κλῶντες breaking τέ then κατ ̓ at each οἶκον house ἄρτον, bread, μετελάμβανον they were partaking τροφῆς of food ἐν with ἀγαλλιάσει gladness καί and ἀφελότητι sincerity καρδίας of heart, αἰνοῦντες praising τόν - Θεόν God καί and ἔχοντες having χάριν favor πρός with ὅλον all τόν the λαόν. people. ὁ - δέ And Κύριος the Lord προσετίθει kept adding τούς those who σῳζομένους were being saved καθ ̓ every ἡμέραν day ἐπί to τό their αὐτό. number.
Πέτρος Peter δέ now καί and Ἰωάννης John ἀνέβαινον were going up εἰς into τό the ἱερόν temple ἐπί at τήν the ὥραν hour τῆς - προσευχῆς of prayer, τήν the ἐνάτην. ninth. καί And τὶς a certain ἀνήρ man, χωλός lame ἐκ from κοιλίας womb μητρός of mother αὐτοῦ of him ὑπάρχων being, ἐβαστάζετο, was being carried, ὅν whom ἐτίθουν they placed καθ ̓ every ἡμέραν day πρός at τήν the θύραν gate τοῦ of the ἱεροῦ temple τήν - λεγομένην called Ὡραίαν Beautiful τοῦ - αἰτεῖν to ask for ἐλεημοσύνην alms παρά from τῶν those who εἰσπορευομένων were going εἰς into τό the ἱερόν· temple, ὅς who ἰδών having seen Πέτρον Peter καί and Ἰωάννην John μέλλοντας being about εἰσιέναι to enter εἰς into τό the ἱερόν, temple, ἠρώτα was asking ἐλεημοσύνην alms λαβεῖν. to receive. Ἀτενίσας Having looked intently δέ now Πέτρος Peter εἰς upon αὐτόν him, σύν with τῷ - Ἰωάννῃ John, εἶπεν· he said, Βλέψον Look εἰς unto ἡμᾶς. us. ὁ - δέ And ἐπεῖχεν he began to give heed αὐτοῖς to them, προσδοκῶν expecting τὶ something παρ ̓ from αὐτῶν them λαβεῖν. to receive. εἶπεν Said δέ however Πέτρος· Peter, Ἀργύριον Silver καί and χρυσίον gold οὐ none ὑπάρχει there is μοι, to me; ὅ what δέ however ἔχω I have, τοῦτο this σοι to you δίδωμι· I give: ἐν In τῷ the ὀνόματι name Ἰησοῦ of Jesus Χριστοῦ Christ τοῦ of Ναζωραίου Nazareth, ἔγειρε rise up καί and περιπάτει. walk!” Καί And πιάσας having taken αὐτόν him τῆς by the δεξιᾶς right χειρός hand, ἤγειρεν he raised up αὐτόν· him; παραχρῆμα immediately δέ then ἐστερεώθησαν were strengthened αἱ the βάσεις feet αὐτοῦ of him, καί and τά the σφυδρά, ankles. καί And ἐξαλλόμενος leaping up, ἔστη he stood καί and περιεπάτει began walking, καί and εἰσῆλθεν he entered σύν with αὐτοῖς them εἰς into τό the ἱερόν temple, περιπατῶν walking καί and ἁλλόμενος leaping καί and αἰνῶν praising τόν - Θεόν. God. Καί And εἶδεν saw πᾶς all ὁ the λαός people αὐτόν him περιπατοῦντα walking καί and αἰνοῦντα praising τόν - Θεόν· God. ἐπεγίνωσκον They recognized δέ then αὐτόν him, ὅτι that αὐτός he ἦν was ὁ the [one] πρός for τήν the ἐλεημοσύνην alms καθήμενος sitting ἐπί at τῇ the Ὡραίᾳ Beautiful Πύλῃ Gate τοῦ of the ἱεροῦ temple; καί and ἐπλήσθησαν they were filled θάμβους with wonder καί and ἐκστάσεως amazement ἐπί at τῷ that συμβεβηκότι having happened αὐτῷ. to him.
Κρατοῦντος Is clinging δέ now αὐτοῦ he τόν to Πέτρον Peter καί and τόν - Ἰωάννην John; συνέδραμεν ran together πᾶς all ὁ the λαός people πρός to αὐτούς them ἐπί in τῇ the στοᾷ porch τῇ - καλουμένῃ called Σολομῶντος Solomon’s, ἔκθαμβοι. greatly amazed. ἰδών Having seen [it] δέ however, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter ἀπεκρίνατο answered πρός to τόν the λαόν· people: Ἄνδρες Men, Ἰσραηλῖται, Israelites, τί why θαυμάζετε wonder you ἐπί at τούτῳ this? ἤ Or ἡμῖν on us τί why ἀτενίζετε you look intently, ὡς as if ἰδίᾳ by [our] own δυνάμει power ἤ or εὐσεβείᾳ godliness πεποιηκόσιν [we] have made τοῦ - περιπατεῖν to walk αὐτόν; him? ὁ The Θεός God Ἀβραάμ of Abraham, καί and ὁ the θεός God Ἰσαάκ of Isaac, καί and ὁ the θεός God Ἰακώβ, Jacob, ὁ the Θεός God τῶν of the πατέρων fathers ἡμῶν, of us, ἐδόξασεν has glorified τόν the Παῖδα servant αὐτοῦ of Him, Ἰησοῦν Jesus, ὅν whom ὑμεῖς you μέν indeed παρεδώκατε betrayed καί and ἠρνήσασθε disowned κατά in πρόσωπον [the] presence Πιλάτου, of Pilate, κρίναντος having adjudged ἐκείνου that one ἀπολύειν· to release [Him]. ὑμεῖς You δέ however τόν the Ἅγιον Holy καί and Δίκαιον Righteous One ἠρνήσασθε denied, καί and ᾐτήσασθε requested ἄνδρα a man, φονέα a murderer, χαρισθῆναι to be granted ὑμῖν, to you; τόν - δέ and Ἀρχηγόν the Author τῆς - ζωῆς of life ἀπεκτείνατε you killed, ὅν whom ὁ - Θεός God ἤγειρεν has raised up ἐκ out from νεκρῶν, [the] dead, οὗ whereof ἡμεῖς we μάρτυρες witnesses ἐσμέν. are. Καί And ἐπί on τῇ the πίστει faith τοῦ in the ὀνόματος name αὐτοῦ of Him, τοῦτον this [man] ὅν whom θεωρεῖτε you see καί and οἴδατε, know ἐστερέωσεν has strengthened τό the ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ, of Him; καί and ἡ the πίστις faith ἡ which [is] δι ̓ through αὐτοῦ Him ἔδωκεν has given αὐτῷ to him τήν the ὁλοκληρίαν complete soundness ταύτην this ἀπέναντι before πάντων all ὑμῶν. of you. Καί And νῦν, now, ἀδελφοί, brothers, οἶδα I know ὅτι that κατά in ἄγνοιαν ignorance ἐπράξατε you acted, ὥσπερ as καί also οἱ the ἄρχοντες rulers ὑμῶν· of you. ὁ - δέ But Θεός, God ἅ what προκατήγγειλεν He foretold διά by στόματος [the] mouth πάντων of all τῶν the προφητῶν prophets, παθεῖν [that] should suffer τόν the Χριστόν Christ αὐτοῦ, of Him, ἐπλήρωσεν He has fulfilled οὕτως. thus. μετανοήσατε Repent, οὖν therefore, καί and ἐπιστρέψατε turn again, πρός for τό the ἐξαλειφθῆναι blotting out ὑμῶν of your τάς - ἁμαρτίας, sins, ὅπως so that ἄν - ἔλθωσιν may come καιροί times ἀναψύξεως of refreshing ἀπό from προσώπου [the] presence τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord, καί and ἀποστείλῃ [that] He may send τόν the [One] προκεχειρισμένον having been appointed ὑμῖν to you, Χριστόν Christ Ἰησοῦν, Jesus, ὅν whom δεῖ it behooves οὐρανόν heaven μέν indeed δέξασθαι to receive, ἄχρι until χρόνων [the] times ἀποκαταστάσεως of restoration πάντων of all things, ὧν of which ἐλάλησεν spoke ὁ - Θεός God διά by στόματος [the] mouth τῶν of ἁγίων holy ἀπ ̓ from αἰῶνος [the] age αὐτοῦ His προφητῶν. prophets. Μωϋσῆς Moses μέν indeed εἶπεν said ὅτι -, Προφήτην A prophet ὑμῖν to you ἀναστήσει will raise up Κύριος [the] Lord ὁ the Θεός God ὑμῶν of you ἐκ out from τῶν the ἀδελφῶν brothers ὑμῶν of you, ὡς like ἐμέ· me; αὐτοῦ Him ἀκούσεσθε You will listen to κατά in πάντα all things, ὅσα as many as ἄν - λαλήσῃ He might say πρός to ὑμᾶς. you. ἔσται It will be [that] δέ now πᾶσα every ψυχή soul ἥτις who, ἐάν if μή not ἀκούσῃ might heed τοῦ the προφήτου prophet ἐκείνου that, ἐξολεθρευθήσεται will be utterly destroyed ἐκ out from τοῦ the λαοῦ. people.’ Καί And πάντες all δέ now οἱ the προφῆται prophets ἀπό from Σαμουήλ Samuel, καί and τῶν those καθεξῆς subsequently, ὅσοι as many as ἐλάλησαν have spoken, καί also κατήγγειλαν have announced τάς the ἡμέρας days ταύτας. these. ὑμεῖς You ἐστέ are οἱ the υἱοί sons τῶν of the προφητῶν prophets καί and τῆς of the διαθήκης covenant ἧς that διέθετο made ὁ - Θεός God πρός with τούς the πατέρας fathers ὑμῶν of you, λέγων saying πρός to Ἀβραάμ· Abraham, Καί And ἐν in τῷ the σπέρματι seed σου of you ἐνευλογηθήσονται will be blessed πᾶσαι all αἱ the πατριαί families τῆς of the γῆς. earth.’ ὑμῖν To you πρῶτον first, ἀναστήσας having raised up ὁ - Θεός God τόν the Παῖδα servant αὐτοῦ of Him, ἀπέστειλεν sent αὐτόν Him, εὐλογοῦντα blessing ὑμᾶς you ἐν in τῷ - ἀποστρέφειν turning away ἕκαστον each ἀπό from τῶν the πονηριῶν wickednesses ὑμῶν. of you.
Λαλούντων Speaking δέ now αὐτῶν of them πρός to τόν the λαόν people, ἐπέστησαν came αὐτοῖς upon them οἱ the ἱερεῖς priests καί and ὁ the στρατηγός captain τοῦ of the ἱεροῦ temple καί and οἱ the Σαδδουκαῖοι, Sadducees, διαπονούμενοι being distressed διά because of τό - διδάσκειν teaching αὐτούς their τόν the λαόν people καί and καταγγέλλειν proclaiming ἐν in τῷ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus τήν the ἀνάστασιν resurrection τήν - ἐκ out from νεκρῶν, [the] dead; καί and ἐπέβαλον they laid αὐτοῖς on them τάς the χεῖρας hands καί and ἔθεντο put [them] εἰς in τήρησιν custody εἰς until τήν the αὔριον· next day; ἦν it was γάρ for ἑσπέρα evening ἤδη. already. πολλοί Many δέ however τῶν of those ἀκουσάντων having heard τόν the λόγον word ἐπίστευσαν believed, καί and ἐγενήθη became ὁ the ἀριθμός number τῶν of the ἀνδρῶν men ὡς about χιλιάδες thousand πέντε. five.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then ἐπί on τήν the αὔριον next day συναχθῆναι were gathered together αὐτῶν their τούς - ἄρχοντας rulers καί and τούς - πρεσβυτέρους elders καί and τούς - γραμματεῖς scribes ἐν in Ἰερουσαλήμ, Jerusalem, καί and Ἅννας Annas ὁ the ἀρχιερεύς high priest, καί and Καϊάφας Caiaphas, καί and Ἰωάννης John, καί and Ἀλέξανδρος Alexander, καί and ὅσοι as many as ἦσαν were ἐκ of γένους descent ἀρχιερατικοῦ, high-priestly. καί And στήσαντες having placed αὐτούς them ἐν in τῷ the μέσῳ midst, ἐπυνθάνοντο· they began to inquire, ἐν In ποίᾳ what δυνάμει power ἤ or ἐν in ποίῳ what ὀνόματι name ἐποιήσατε did τοῦτο this ὑμεῖς; you? Τότε Then Πέτρος Peter, πλησθείς having been filled Πνεύματος with [the] Spirit Ἁγίου Holy, εἶπεν said πρός to αὐτούς· them, Ἄρχοντες Rulers τοῦ of the λαοῦ people καί and πρεσβύτεροι, elders, εἰ if ἡμεῖς we σήμερον this day ἀνακρινόμεθα are being examined ἐπί as to εὐεργεσίᾳ a good work ἀνθρώπου [to the] man ἀσθενοῦς ailing, ἐν by τίνι what [means] οὗτος he σέσωσται, has been healed, γνωστόν known ἔστω let it be πᾶσιν to all ὑμῖν you καί and παντί to all τῷ the λαῷ people Ἰσραήλ of Israel ὅτι that ἐν in τῷ the ὀνόματι name Ἰησοῦ of Jesus Χριστοῦ Christ τοῦ of Ναζωραίου Nazareth, ὅν whom ὑμεῖς you ἐσταυρώσατε, crucified, ὅν whom ὁ - Θεός God ἤγειρεν raised ἐκ out from νεκρῶν, [the] dead, ἐν in τούτῳ Him οὗτος this [man] παρέστηκεν stands ἐνώπιον before ὑμῶν you ὑγιής. sound. οὗτος This ἐστίν is ὁ the λίθος, stone ὁ - ἐξουθενηθείς having been rejected ὑφ ̓ by ὑμῶν you, τῶν the οἰκοδόμων, builders, ὁ which γενόμενος has become εἰς into κεφαλήν head γωνίας. of [the] corner.’ Καί And οὐ not ἔστιν there is ἐν in ἄλλῳ other οὐδενί no one ἡ the σωτηρία, salvation, οὐδέ not γάρ for ὄνομα name ἐστίν is there ἕτερον another ὑπό under τόν - οὐρανόν heaven τό - δεδομένον having been given ἐν among ἀνθρώποις men ἐν by ᾧ which δεῖ it behooves σωθῆναι to be saved ἡμᾶς. us.
Θεωροῦντες Seeing δέ now τήν the τοῦ - Πέτρου of Peter παρρησίαν boldness, καί and Ἰωάννου of John, καί and καταλαβόμενοι having understood ὅτι that ἄνθρωποι men ἀγράμματοι unschooled εἰσίν they are, καί and ἰδιῶται, ordinary, ἐθαύμαζον they were astonished. ἐπεγίνωσκον They recognized τέ then αὐτούς them, ὅτι that σύν with τῷ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus ἦσαν, they had been. τόν - τέ And ἄνθρωπον the man βλέποντες beholding σύν with αὐτοῖς them ἑστῶτα standing τόν - τεθεραπευμένον having been healed, οὐδέν nothing εἶχον they had ἀντειπεῖν. to contradict. κελεύσαντες Having commanded δέ however αὐτούς them ἔξω outside τοῦ the συνεδρίου Council ἀπελθεῖν to go, συνέβαλλον they began to confer πρός with ἀλλήλους one another, λέγοντες· saying, Τί What ποιήσωμεν shall we do τοῖς to the ἀνθρώποις men τούτοις; these? ὅτι That μέν truly γάρ for γνωστόν a noteworthy σημεῖον sign γέγονεν has come to pass δι ̓ through αὐτῶν them, πᾶσιν to all τοῖς those κατοικοῦσιν inhabiting Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem φανερόν [is] evident, καί and οὐ not δυνάμεθα we are able ἀρνεῖσθαι· to deny [it]. ἀλλ ̓ But ἵνα that μή not ἐπί on πλεῖον further διανεμηθῇ it might spread εἰς among τόν the λαόν people, ἀπειλησώμεθα let us warn αὐτοῖς them μηκέτι no longer λαλεῖν to speak ἐπί in τῷ the ὀνόματι name τούτῳ this μηδενί to no ἀνθρώπων. man. Καί And καλέσαντες having called αὐτούς them, παρήγγειλαν they commanded [them] τό - καθόλου at all μή not φθέγγεσθαι to speak μηδέ nor διδάσκειν to teach ἐπί in τῷ the ὀνόματι name τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ. of Jesus. ὁ - δέ But Πέτρος Peter καί and Ἰωάννης John ἀποκριθέντες answering, εἶπον said πρός to αὐτούς· them, εἰ Whether δίκαιον right ἐστίν it is ἐνώπιον before τοῦ - Θεοῦ God ὑμῶν to you ἀκούειν to listen, μᾶλλον rather ἤ than τοῦ - Θεοῦ, God, κρίνατε· you must judge; οὐ not δυνάμεθα are able γάρ for ἡμεῖς we, ἅ what εἴδαμεν we have seen καί and ἠκούσαμεν heard, μή not λαλεῖν. to speak. οἱ - δέ And προσαπειλησάμενοι having further threatened [them], ἀπέλυσαν they let go αὐτούς, them, μηδέν nothing εὑρίσκοντες finding τό the πῶς how κολάσωνται they might punish αὐτούς, them, διά on account of τόν the λαόν, people, ὅτι because πάντες all ἐδόξαζον were glorifying τόν - Θεόν God ἐπί for τῷ that γεγονότι· having happened; ἐτῶν years [old] γάρ for ἦν was πλειόνων more than τεσσεράκοντα forty, ὁ the ἄνθρωπος man ἐφ ̓ on ὅν whom γεγόνει had taken place τό the σημεῖον sign τοῦτο this τῆς of ἰάσεως. healing.
Ἀπολυθέντες Having been let go δέ now, ἦλθον they came πρός to τούς the ἰδίους own καί and ἀπήγγειλαν reported ὅσα how much πρός to αὐτούς them οἱ the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests καί and οἱ the πρεσβύτεροι elders εἶπαν. had said. οἱ - δέ And ἀκούσαντες having heard, ὁμοθυμαδόν with one accord ἦραν they lifted up φωνήν [their] voice πρός to τόν - Θεόν God καί and εἶπαν· said, Δέσποτα, Sovereign Lord, σύ You ὁ - ποιήσας made τόν the οὐρανόν heaven, καί and τήν the γῆν earth, καί and τήν the θάλασσαν sea, καί and πάντα all τά that [is] ἐν in αὐτοῖς, them, ὁ - τοῦ of the πατρός father ἡμῶν of us διά by Πνεύματος [the] Spirit Ἁγίου Holy στόματος through [the] mouth Δαυίδ David παιδός servant σου of You εἰπών· having spoken Ἵνατι -: Why ἐφρύαξαν did rage ἔθνη [the] Gentiles, καί and λαοί peoples ἐμελέτησαν did devise κενά; vain things? παρέστησαν Took [their] stand οἱ the βασιλεῖς kings τῆς of the γῆς earth, καί and οἱ the ἄρχοντες rulers συνήχθησαν were gathered ἐπί together τό - αὐτό themselves κατά against τοῦ the Κυρίου Lord καί and κατά against τοῦ the Χριστοῦ Christ αὐτοῦ. of Him.’
