Σταθείς Having stood up δέ however ὁ - Πέτρος Peter σύν with τοῖς the ἕνδεκα eleven, ἐπῆρεν he lifted up τήν the φωνήν voice αὐτοῦ of him καί and ἀπεφθέγξατο spoke forth αὐτοῖς· to them: Ἄνδρες Men Ἰουδαῖοι of Judea καί and οἱ those κατοικοῦντες inhabiting Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem πάντες, all, τοῦτο this ὑμῖν to you γνωστόν known ἔστω let be, καί and ἐνωτίσασθε give heed to τά the ῥήματα words μου. of me. οὐ Not γάρ for ὡς as ὑμεῖς you ὑπολαμβάνετε suppose, οὗτοι these μεθύουσιν, are drunkards; ἔστιν it is γάρ for ὥρα [the] hour τρίτη third τῆς of the ἡμέρας, day; ἀλλά but τοῦτο this ἐστίν is τό that εἰρημένον having been spoken διά by τοῦ the προφήτου prophet Ἰωήλ· Joel: Καί And ἔσται it will be ἐν in ταῖς the ἐσχάταις last ἡμέραις, days, λέγει says ὁ - Θεός, God, ἐκχεῶ I will pour out ἀπό of τοῦ the Πνεύματος Spirit μου of Me ἐπί upon πᾶσαν all σάρκα, flesh; καί and προφητεύσουσιν will prophesy οἱ the υἱοί sons ὑμῶν of you, καί and αἱ the θυγατέρες daughters ὑμῶν of you; καί and οἱ the νεανίσκοι young men ὑμῶν of you ὁράσεις visions ὄψονται will see, καί and οἱ the πρεσβύτεροι elders ὑμῶν of you ἐνυπνίοις dreams ἐνυπνιασθήσονται· will dream; καί and γέ even ἐπί upon τούς the δούλους servants μου of Me, καί and ἐπί upon τάς the δούλας handmaidens μου of Me, ἐν in ταῖς the ἡμέραις days ἐκείναις those ἐκχεῶ I will pour out ἀπό of τοῦ the Πνεύματος Spirit μου, of Me, καί and προφητεύσουσιν. they will prophesy. καί and δώσω I will show τέρατα wonders ἐν in τῷ - οὐρανῷ heaven ἄνω above, καί and σημεῖα signs ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth κάτω, below, αἷμα blood καί and πῦρ fire καί and ἀτμίδα vapor καπνοῦ. of smoke. ὁ The ἥλιος sun μεταστραφήσεται will be turned εἰς into σκότος darkness, καί and ἡ the σελήνη moon εἰς into αἷμα, blood, πρίν before ἐλθεῖν coming ἡμέραν day Κυρίου of [the] Lord, τήν - μεγάλην great καί and ἐπιφανῆ. glorious. καί And ἔσται it shall be, πᾶς everyone ὅς who ἄν if ἐπικαλέσηται they shall call upon τό the ὄνομα name Κυρίου of [the] Lord σωθήσεται. will be saved.’

Ἄνδρες Men, Ἰσραηλῖται, Israelites, ἀκούσατε hear τούς the λόγους words τούτους· these: Ἰησοῦν Jesus τόν of Ναζωραῖον, Nazareth, ἄνδρα a man ἀποδεδειγμένον having been set forth ἀπό by τοῦ - Θεοῦ God εἰς to ὑμᾶς you δυνάμεσι by miracles καί and τέρασι wonders καί and σημείοις signs, οἷς which ἐποίησεν did δι ̓ by αὐτοῦ Him ὁ - Θεός God ἐν in μέσῳ the midst ὑμῶν of you, καθώς as αὐτοί you yourselves οἴδατε, know, τοῦτον Him τῇ by the ὡρισμένῃ determinate βουλῇ plan καί and προγνώσει foreknowledge τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, ἔκδοτον delivered up διά by χειρός hands ἀνόμων lawless, προσπήξαντες having crucified, ἀνείλατε, You put to death, ὅν whom ὁ - Θεός God ἀνέστησεν raised up, λύσας having loosed τάς the ὠδῖνας agony τοῦ of θανάτου, death, καθότι inasmuch as οὐ not ἦν it was δυνατόν possible κρατεῖσθαι [for] to be held αὐτόν Him ὑπ ̓ by αὐτοῦ. it. Δαυίδ David γάρ for λέγει says εἰς about αὐτόν· Him: Προορώμην I foresaw τόν the Κύριον Lord ἐνώπιον before μου me διά continually παντός, everything, ὅτι because ἐκ at [the] δεξιῶν right hand μού of me ἐστίν He is, ἵνα that μή not σαλευθῶ. I should be shaken. διά Because of τοῦτο this ηὐφράνθη was glad ἡ the καρδία heart, μου of me καί and ἠγαλλιάσατο rejoiced ἡ the γλῶσσα tongue μου, of me; ἔτι and δέ now καί also ἡ the σάρξ flesh μου of me κατασκηνώσει will dwell ἐπ ̓ in ἐλπίδι, hope, ὅτι for οὐ not ἐνκαταλείψεις You will abandon τήν the ψυχήν soul μου of me εἰς into ᾅδην Hades, οὐδέ nor δώσεις will You allow τόν the Ὅσιον Holy One σου of You ἰδεῖν to see διαφθοράν. decay. ἐγνώρισας You have made known μοι to me ὁδούς [the] paths ζωῆς, of life; πληρώσεις You will fill με me εὐφροσύνης with joy μετά in τοῦ the προσώπου presence σου. of You.’

Ἄνδρες Men, ἀδελφοί, brothers, ἐξόν it is permitted [me] εἰπεῖν to speak μετά with παρρησίας freedom πρός to ὑμᾶς you περί concerning τοῦ the πατριάρχου patriarch Δαυίδ David, ὅτι that καί both ἐτελεύτησεν he died καί and ἐτάφη, was buried, καί and τό the μνῆμα tomb αὐτοῦ of him ἔστιν is ἐν among ἡμῖν us ἄχρι unto τῆς the ἡμέρας day ταύτης. this. προφήτης A prophet οὖν therefore ὑπάρχων being, καί and εἰδώς knowing ὅτι that ὅρκῳ with an oath ὤμοσεν swore αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Θεός God ἐκ out of [the] καρποῦ fruit τῆς of the ὀσφύος loins αὐτοῦ of him καθίσαι to set ἐπί upon τόν the θρόνον throne αὐτοῦ, of him. προϊδών Having foreseen, ἐλάλησεν he spoke περί concerning τῆς the ἀναστάσεως resurrection τοῦ of the Χριστοῦ Christ, ὅτι that οὔτε neither ἐνκατελείφθη was He abandoned εἰς into ᾅδην Hades, οὔτε nor ἡ the σάρξ flesh αὐτοῦ of Him εἶδεν saw διαφθοράν. decay. Τοῦτον This τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus ἀνέστησεν has raised up ὁ - Θεός, God, οὗ whereof πάντες all ἡμεῖς we ἐσμέν are μάρτυρες· witnesses. τῇ To the δεξιᾷ right hand οὖν therefore τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ὑψωθείς, having been exalted, τήν - τέ and ἐπαγγελίαν the promise τοῦ of the Πνεύματος Spirit τοῦ - Ἁγίου Holy λαβών having received παρά from τοῦ the Πατρός, Father, ἐξέχεεν He has poured out τοῦτο this ὅ which ὑμεῖς you καί both βλέπετε are seeing καί and ἀκούετε. hearing. οὐ Not γάρ for Δαυίδ David ἀνέβη ascended εἰς into τούς the οὐρανούς, heavens; λέγει he says δέ however αὐτός· himself: Εἶπεν Said ὁ the Κύριος Lord τῷ to Κυρίῳ [the] Lord μου· of me, Κάθου Sit ἐκ at δεξιῶν [the] right hand μου, of Me, ἕως until ἄν - θῶ I place τούς the ἐχθρούς enemies σου of You, ὑποπόδιον a footstool τῶν of the ποδῶν feet σου. of You.’

Ἀσφαλῶς Assuredly οὖν therefore γινωσκέτω let know πᾶς all οἶκος [the] house Ἰσραήλ of Israel ὅτι that καί both Κύριον Lord αὐτόν Him καί and Χριστόν Christ ἐποίησεν has made ὁ - Θεός, God — τοῦτον this τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus ὅν whom ὑμεῖς you ἐσταυρώσατε. crucified.

Ἀκούσαντες Having heard δέ then, κατενύγησαν they were pierced τήν to the καρδίαν heart; εἶπον they said τέ then πρός to τόν - Πέτρον Peter καί and τούς the λοιπούς other ἀποστόλους· apostles, Τί What ποιήσωμεν, shall we do, ἄνδρες men, ἀδελφοί; brothers? Πέτρος Peter δέ then πρός to αὐτούς· them, Μετανοήσατε, Repent, φησίν, he declared, Καί and βαπτισθήτω be baptized, ἕκαστος every one ὑμῶν of you, ἐπί in τῷ the ὀνόματι name Ἰησοῦ of Jesus Χριστοῦ Christ εἰς for the ἄφεσιν forgiveness τῶν of the ἁμαρτιῶν sins ὑμῶν of you, καί and λήμψεσθε you will receive τήν the δωρεάν gift τοῦ of the Ἁγίου Holy Πνεύματος. Spirit. ὑμῖν To you γάρ for ἐστίν is ἡ the ἐπαγγελία promise, καί and τοῖς to the τέκνοις children ὑμῶν of you, καί and πᾶσιν to all τοῖς those εἰς at μακράν, a distance, ὅσους as many as ἄν - προσκαλέσηται shall call to Himself Κύριος [the] Lord, ὁ the Θεός God ἡμῶν. of us. Ἑτέροις Other τέ and λόγοις words πλείοσιν many διεμαρτύρατο he earnestly testified, καί and παρεκάλει was exhorting αὐτούς them, λέγων· saying, Σώθητε Be saved ἀπό from τῆς the γενεᾶς generation τῆς - σκολιᾶς perverse ταύτης. this. οἱ Those μέν indeed οὖν therefore ἀποδεξάμενοι having received τόν the λόγον word αὐτοῦ of him ἐβαπτίσθησαν were baptized; καί and προσετέθησαν were added ἐν on τῇ the ἡμέρᾳ day ἐκείνῃ that, ψυχαί souls ὡσεί about τρισχίλιαι. three thousand.

Ἦσαν They were δέ now προσκαρτεροῦντες steadfastly continuing τῇ in the διδαχῇ teaching τῶν of the ἀποστόλων apostles, καί and τῇ - κοινωνίᾳ, in fellowship, τῇ the κλάσει breaking τοῦ of the ἄρτου bread, καί and ταῖς the προσευχαῖς. prayers. Ἐγίνετο There was coming δέ then πάσῃ upon every ψυχῇ soul φόβος, awe, πολλά many τέ and both τέρατα wonders καί and σημεῖα signs διά through τῶν the ἀποστόλων apostles ἐγίνετο. were taking place. Πάντες All δέ now οἱ - πιστεύοντες having believed ἦσαν were ἐπί together τό the αὐτό same καί and εἶχον having ἅπαντα all things κοινά in common; καί and τά the κτήματα possessions καί and τάς the ὑπάρξεις goods ἐπίπρασκον they were selling καί and διεμέριζον were dividing αὐτά them πᾶσιν to all, καθότι as ἄν - τὶς anyone χρείαν need εἶχεν· had. Καθ ̓ Every ἡμέραν day τέ and προσκαρτεροῦντες steadfastly continuing ὁμοθυμαδόν with one accord ἐν in τῷ the ἱερῷ, temple, κλῶντες breaking τέ then κατ ̓ at each οἶκον house ἄρτον, bread, μετελάμβανον they were partaking τροφῆς of food ἐν with ἀγαλλιάσει gladness καί and ἀφελότητι sincerity καρδίας of heart, αἰνοῦντες praising τόν - Θεόν God καί and ἔχοντες having χάριν favor πρός with ὅλον all τόν the λαόν. people. ὁ - δέ And Κύριος the Lord προσετίθει kept adding τούς those who σῳζομένους were being saved καθ ̓ every ἡμέραν day ἐπί to τό their αὐτό. number.

Πέτρος Peter δέ now καί and Ἰωάννης John ἀνέβαινον were going up εἰς into τό the ἱερόν temple ἐπί at τήν the ὥραν hour τῆς - προσευχῆς of prayer, τήν the ἐνάτην. ninth. καί And τὶς a certain ἀνήρ man, χωλός lame ἐκ from κοιλίας womb μητρός of mother αὐτοῦ of him ὑπάρχων being, ἐβαστάζετο, was being carried, ὅν whom ἐτίθουν they placed καθ ̓ every ἡμέραν day πρός at τήν the θύραν gate τοῦ of the ἱεροῦ temple τήν - λεγομένην called Ὡραίαν Beautiful τοῦ - αἰτεῖν to ask for ἐλεημοσύνην alms παρά from τῶν those who εἰσπορευομένων were going εἰς into τό the ἱερόν· temple, ὅς who ἰδών having seen Πέτρον Peter καί and Ἰωάννην John μέλλοντας being about εἰσιέναι to enter εἰς into τό the ἱερόν, temple, ἠρώτα was asking ἐλεημοσύνην alms λαβεῖν. to receive. Ἀτενίσας Having looked intently δέ now Πέτρος Peter εἰς upon αὐτόν him, σύν with τῷ - Ἰωάννῃ John, εἶπεν· he said, Βλέψον Look εἰς unto ἡμᾶς. us. ὁ - δέ And ἐπεῖχεν he began to give heed αὐτοῖς to them, προσδοκῶν expecting τὶ something παρ ̓ from αὐτῶν them λαβεῖν. to receive. εἶπεν Said δέ however Πέτρος· Peter, Ἀργύριον Silver καί and χρυσίον gold οὐ none ὑπάρχει there is μοι, to me; ὅ what δέ however ἔχω I have, τοῦτο this σοι to you δίδωμι· I give: ἐν In τῷ the ὀνόματι name Ἰησοῦ of Jesus Χριστοῦ Christ τοῦ of Ναζωραίου Nazareth, ἔγειρε rise up καί and περιπάτει. walk!” Καί And πιάσας having taken αὐτόν him τῆς by the δεξιᾶς right χειρός hand, ἤγειρεν he raised up αὐτόν· him; παραχρῆμα immediately δέ then ἐστερεώθησαν were strengthened αἱ the βάσεις feet αὐτοῦ of him, καί and τά the σφυδρά, ankles. καί And ἐξαλλόμενος leaping up, ἔστη he stood καί and περιεπάτει began walking, καί and εἰσῆλθεν he entered σύν with αὐτοῖς them εἰς into τό the ἱερόν temple, περιπατῶν walking καί and ἁλλόμενος leaping καί and αἰνῶν praising τόν - Θεόν. Καί And εἶδεν saw πᾶς all ὁ the λαός people αὐτόν him περιπατοῦντα walking καί and αἰνοῦντα praising τόν - Θεόν· God. ἐπεγίνωσκον They recognized δέ then αὐτόν him, ὅτι that αὐτός he ἦν was ὁ the [one] πρός for τήν the ἐλεημοσύνην alms καθήμενος sitting ἐπί at τῇ the Ὡραίᾳ Beautiful Πύλῃ Gate τοῦ of the ἱεροῦ temple; καί and ἐπλήσθησαν they were filled θάμβους with wonder καί and ἐκστάσεως amazement ἐπί at τῷ that συμβεβηκότι having happened αὐτῷ. to him.

Κρατοῦντος Is clinging δέ now αὐτοῦ he τόν to Πέτρον Peter καί and τόν - Ἰωάννην John; συνέδραμεν ran together πᾶς all ὁ the λαός people πρός to αὐτούς them ἐπί in τῇ the στοᾷ porch τῇ - καλουμένῃ called Σολομῶντος Solomon’s, ἔκθαμβοι. greatly amazed. ἰδών Having seen [it] δέ however, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter ἀπεκρίνατο answered πρός to τόν the λαόν· people: Ἄνδρες Men, Ἰσραηλῖται, Israelites, τί why θαυμάζετε wonder you ἐπί at τούτῳ this? ἤ Or ἡμῖν on us τί why ἀτενίζετε you look intently, ὡς as if ἰδίᾳ by [our] own δυνάμει power ἤ or εὐσεβείᾳ godliness πεποιηκόσιν [we] have made τοῦ - περιπατεῖν to walk αὐτόν; him? ὁ The Θεός God Ἀβραάμ of Abraham, καί and ὁ the θεός God Ἰσαάκ of Isaac, καί and ὁ the θεός God Ἰακώβ, Jacob, ὁ the Θεός God τῶν of the πατέρων fathers ἡμῶν, of us, ἐδόξασεν has glorified τόν the Παῖδα servant αὐτοῦ of Him, Ἰησοῦν Jesus, ὅν whom ὑμεῖς you μέν indeed παρεδώκατε betrayed καί and ἠρνήσασθε disowned κατά in πρόσωπον [the] presence Πιλάτου, of Pilate, κρίναντος having adjudged ἐκείνου that one ἀπολύειν· to release [Him]. ὑμεῖς You δέ however τόν the Ἅγιον Holy καί and Δίκαιον Righteous One ἠρνήσασθε denied, καί and ᾐτήσασθε requested ἄνδρα a man, φονέα a murderer, χαρισθῆναι to be granted ὑμῖν, to you; τόν - δέ and Ἀρχηγόν the Author τῆς - ζωῆς of life ἀπεκτείνατε you killed, ὅν whom ὁ - Θεός God ἤγειρεν has raised up ἐκ out from νεκρῶν, [the] dead, οὗ whereof ἡμεῖς we μάρτυρες witnesses ἐσμέν. are.
