Αὐτός He δέ now ᾔδει knew τούς the διαλογισμούς thoughts αὐτῶν, of them; εἶπεν He said δέ now τῷ to the ἀνδρί man τῷ the ξηράν withered ἔχοντι having τήν the χεῖρα· hand, Ἔγειρε Arise καί and στῆθι stand εἰς in τό the μέσον· midst. καί And ἀναστάς having risen up, ἔστη. he stood. εἶπεν Said δέ then ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus πρός to αὐτούς· them, Ἐπερωτῶ I ask ὑμᾶς you, εἰ whether ἔξεστιν it is lawful τῷ on the σαββάτῳ Sabbath ἀγαθοποιῆσαι to do good ἤ or κακοποιῆσαι, to do evil? ψυχήν Life σῶσαι to save ἤ or ἀπολέσαι; to destroy? Καί And περιβλεψάμενος having looked around πάντας all αὐτούς on them, εἶπεν He said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἔκτεινον Stretch out τήν the χεῖρα hand σου. of you. ὁ - δέ And ἐποίησεν he did, καί and ἀπεκατεστάθη was restored ἡ the χείρ hand αὐτοῦ. of him. αὐτοί They themselves δέ then ἐπλήσθησαν were filled ἀνοίας with rage, καί and διελάλουν were discussing πρός with ἀλλήλους one another τί what ἄν - ποιήσαιεν they might do τῷ - Ἰησοῦ. to Jesus.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then ἐν in ταῖς the ἡμέραις days ταύταις those, ἐξελθεῖν went out αὐτόν He εἰς to τό the ὄρος mountain προσεύξασθαι, to pray, καί and ἦν He was διανυκτερεύων spending the night ἐν in τῇ - προσευχῇ prayer τοῦ - Θεοῦ. to God. καί And ὅτε when ἐγένετο it became ἡμέρα, day, προσεφώνησεν He called to [Him] τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ, of Him, καί also ἐκλεξάμενος having chosen out ἀπ ̓ from αὐτῶν them δώδεκα, twelve, οὕς whom καί also ἀποστόλους apostles ὠνόμασεν· He named: Σίμωνα Simon ὅν whom καί also ὠνόμασεν He named Πέτρον, Peter, καί and Ἀνδρέαν Andrew τόν the ἀδελφόν brother αὐτοῦ, of him; καί and Ἰάκωβον James καί and Ἰωάννην John; καί and Φίλιππον Philip καί and Βαρθολομαῖον Bartholomew; καί and Μαθθαῖον Matthew καί and Θωμᾶν Thomas; καί and Ἰάκωβον James Ἁλφαίου [son of] Alphaeus; καί and Σίμωνα Simon τόν the [one] καλούμενον called Ζηλωτήν Zealot; καί and Ἰούδαν Judas [son] Ἰακώβου of James; καί and Ἰούδαν Judas Ἰσκαριώθ, Iscariot, ὅς who ἐγένετο became προδότης. [the] betrayer.
Καί And καταβάς having descended μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them, ἔστη He stood ἐπί on τόπου a place πεδινοῦ, level, καί and ὄχλος a crowd πολύς large μαθητῶν of disciples αὐτοῦ, of Him, καί and πλῆθος a multitude πολύ great τοῦ of the λαοῦ people ἀπό from πάσης all τῆς - Ἰουδαίας Judea, καί and Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem, καί and τῆς the παραλίου sea coast Τύρου of Tyre, καί and Σιδῶνος, Sidon, οἵ who ἦλθον came ἀκοῦσαι to hear αὐτοῦ Him καί and ἰαθῆναι to be healed ἀπό of τῶν the νόσων diseases αὐτῶν· of them. καί And οἱ those ἐνοχλούμενοι troubled ἀπό with πνευμάτων spirits ἀκαθάρτων unclean ἐθεραπεύοντο, were healed. καί And πᾶς all ὁ the ὄχλος multitude ἐζήτουν were seeking ἅπτεσθαι to touch αὐτοῦ, Him, ὅτι because δύναμις power παρ ̓ from αὐτοῦ Him ἐξήρχετο was going out καί and ἰᾶτο healing πάντας. all.
Καί And αὐτός He, ἐπάρας having lifted up τούς the ὀφθαλμούς gaze αὐτοῦ of Him εἰς upon τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, ἔλεγεν· was saying: Μακάριοι Blessed [are] οἱ the πτωχοί, poor, Ὅτι for ὑμετέρα yours ἐστίν is ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. Μακάριοι Blessed [are] οἱ those πεινῶντες hungering νῦν, now, Ὅτι for χορτασθήσεσθε. you will be filled. Μακάριοι Blessed [are] οἱ those κλαίοντες weeping νῦν, now, Ὅτι for γελάσετε. you will laugh. Μακάριοι Blessed ἐστέ are you ὅταν when μισήσωσιν shall hate ὑμᾶς you οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men, καί and ὅταν when ἀφορίσωσιν they shall exclude ὑμᾶς you, καί and ὀνειδίσωσιν shall insult [you], καί and ἐκβάλωσιν shall cast out τό the ὄνομα name ὑμῶν of you ὡς as πονηρόν evil, ἕνεκα on account of τοῦ the Υἱοῦ Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου· of Man.
χάρητε Rejoice ἐν in ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ἡμέρᾳ day, καί and σκιρτήσατε, leap for joy; ἰδού behold γάρ for, ὁ the μισθός reward ὑμῶν of you πολύς [is] great ἐν in τῷ - οὐρανῷ· heaven. κατά According to τά these things αὐτά of them γάρ for ἐποίουν used to treat τοῖς the προφήταις prophets οἱ the πατέρες fathers αὐτῶν. likewise. Οὐαί Woe to you ὅταν when ὑμᾶς of you καλῶς well εἴπωσιν speak πάντες all οἱ - ἄνθρωποι· men, Κατά according to τά these things αὐτά of them γάρ for ἐποίουν used to treat τοῖς the ψευδοπροφήταις false prophets οἱ the πατέρες fathers αὐτῶν. likewise.
Ἀλλά But ὑμῖν to you λέγω I say, τοῖς to those ἀκούουσιν· hearing: Ἀγαπᾶτε Love τούς the ἐχθρούς enemies ὑμῶν, of you, καλῶς good ποιεῖτε do τοῖς to those μισοῦσιν hating ὑμᾶς, you, εὐλογεῖτε bless τούς those καταρωμένους cursing ὑμᾶς, you, προσεύχεσθε pray περί for τῶν those ἐπηρεαζόντων mistreating ὑμᾶς. you. τῷ To the [one] τύπτοντι striking σε you ἐπί on τήν the σιαγόνα cheek, πάρεχε offer καί also τήν the ἄλλην, other; καί and ἀπό from τοῦ the [one] αἴροντος taking away σου your τό - ἱμάτιον cloak, καί also τόν the χιτῶνα tunic μή not κωλύσῃς. do withhold. παντί To everyone αἰτοῦντι asking σε you, δίδου, give, καί and ἀπό from τοῦ the [one] αἴροντος taking away τά what [is] σά yours, μή not ἀπαίτει. ask [it] back.
καί And καθώς as θέλετε you desire ἵνα that ποιῶσιν should do ὑμῖν to you οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men, ποιεῖτε do αὐτοῖς to them ὁμοίως. likewise. Καί And εἰ if ἀγαπᾶτε you love τούς those ἀγαπῶντας loving ὑμᾶς, you, ποία what ὑμῖν to you χάρις credit ἐστίν; is it? καί Even γάρ for οἱ - ἁμαρτωλοί sinners τούς those ἀγαπῶντας loving αὐτούς them, ἀγαπῶσιν. love. καί And γάρ for ἐάν if ἀγαθοποιῆτε you do good τούς to those ἀγαθοποιοῦντας doing good to ὑμᾶς, you, ποία what ὑμῖν to you χάρις credit ἐστίν; is it? καί For even οἱ - ἁμαρτωλοί sinners τό the αὐτό same ποιοῦσιν. do. καί And ἐάν if δανίσητε you lend [to those] παρ ̓ from ὧν whom ἐλπίζετε you expect λαβεῖν, to receive back, ποία what ὑμῖν to you χάρις credit ἐστίν; is it? καί Even ἁμαρτωλοί sinners ἁμαρτωλοῖς to sinners δανίζουσιν lend, ἵνα that ἀπολάβωσιν they might receive τά the ἴσα. same amount. Πλήν But ἀγαπᾶτε love τούς the ἐχθρούς enemies ὑμῶν of you, καί and ἀγαθοποιεῖτε do good, καί and δανίζετε lend, μηδέν nothing ἀπελπίζοντες· expecting in return, καί and ἔσται will be ὁ the μισθός reward ὑμῶν of you πολύς, great, καί and ἔσεσθε you will be υἱοί sons of Ὑψίστου, the Most High; ὅτι for αὐτός He χρηστός kind ἐστίν is ἐπί to τούς the ἀχαρίστους ungrateful καί and πονηρούς. evil.
Γίνεσθε Be you οἰκτίρμονες merciful, καθώς as καί also ὁ the Πατήρ Father ὑμῶν of you οἰκτίρμων merciful ἐστίν. is. Καί And μή not κρίνετε, judge, καί that οὐ no μή not κριθῆτε· you should be judged; καί and μή not καταδικάζετε, condemn, καί that οὐ no μή not καταδικασθῆτε. you should be condemned. ἀπολύετε, Forgive, καί and ἀπολυθήσεσθε· you will be forgiven. δίδοτε, Give, καί and δοθήσεται it will be given ὑμῖν· to you. μέτρον Measure καλόν good, πεπιεσμένον pressed down, σεσαλευμένον shaken together, ὑπερεκχυννόμενον running over, δώσουσιν will they put εἰς into τόν the κόλπον lap ὑμῶν· of you, ᾧ with that γάρ for μέτρῳ measure μετρεῖτε you measure, ἀντιμετρηθήσεται it will be measured again ὑμῖν. to you.
Εἶπεν He spoke δέ then καί also παραβολήν a parable αὐτοῖς· to them, Μήτι Not δύναται is able τυφλός a blind [man], τυφλόν a blind [man] ὁδηγεῖν; to lead? οὐχί Not ἀμφότεροι both εἰς into βόθυνον a pit ἐμπεσοῦνται; will fall? οὐ Not ἔστιν is μαθητής a disciple ὑπέρ above τόν the διδάσκαλον· teacher; κατηρτισμένος fully trained δέ however, πᾶς everyone ἔσται will be ὡς like ὁ the διδάσκαλος teacher αὐτοῦ. of him.
Τί Why δέ now βλέπεις look you at τό the κάρφος splinter τό that [is] ἐν in τῷ the ὀφθαλμῷ eye τοῦ of the ἀδελφοῦ brother σου, of you, τήν - δέ and δοκόν the beam τήν that [is] ἐν in τῷ the ἰδίῳ own ὀφθαλμῷ eye οὐ not κατανοεῖς; notice? πῶς How δύνασαι are you able λέγειν to say τῷ to ἀδελφῷ brother σου· of you, Ἀδελφέ, Brother, ἄφες let [that] ἐκβάλω I might cast out τό the κάρφος splinter τό that [is] ἐν in τῷ the ὀφθαλμῷ eye σου, of you, αὐτός yourself τήν the ἐν in τῷ the ὀφθαλμῷ eye σοῦ of you δοκόν beam οὐ not βλέπων; seeing? ὑποκριτά, Hypocrite, ἔκβαλε cast out πρῶτον first τήν the δοκόν beam ἐκ from τοῦ the ὀφθαλμοῦ eye σοῦ, of you, καί and τότε then διαβλέψεις you will see clearly τό the κάρφος splinter τό - ἐν in τῷ the ὀφθαλμῷ eye τοῦ of the ἀδελφοῦ brother σου of you ἐκβαλεῖν. to cast out.
οὐ No γάρ for ἐστίν there is δένδρον tree καλόν good, ποιοῦν producing καρπόν fruit σαπρόν, bad; οὐδέ nor πάλιν again δένδρον a tree σαπρόν bad, ποιοῦν producing καρπόν fruit καλόν. good. ἕκαστον Each γάρ for δένδρον tree ἐκ by τοῦ the ἰδίου own καρποῦ fruit γινώσκεται· is known. οὐ Not γάρ for ἐκ from ἀκανθῶν thorns συλλέγουσιν do they gather σῦκα figs, οὐδέ nor ἐκ from βάτου a bramble bush σταφυλήν grapes τρυγῶσιν. gather they. ὁ The ἀγαθός good ἄνθρωπος man, ἐκ out of τοῦ the ἀγαθοῦ good θησαυροῦ treasure τῆς of the καρδίας [his] heart προφέρει brings forth τό that which [is] ἀγαθόν, good; καί and ὁ the πονηρός evil, ἐκ out of τοῦ the πονηροῦ evil, προφέρει brings forth τό that which [is] πονηρόν· evil. ἐκ Out of γάρ for περισσεύματος the abundance καρδίας of his heart, λαλεῖ speaks τό the στόμα mouth αὐτοῦ. of him.
Τί Why δέ now με Me καλεῖτε· do you call Κύριε Lord, κύριε, Lord, καί and οὐ not ποιεῖτε do ἅ what λέγω; I say? Πᾶς Everyone ὁ who ἐρχόμενος is coming πρός to με Me, καί and ἀκούων hearing μου of Me τῶν the λόγων words, καί and ποιῶν doing αὐτούς, them, ὑποδείξω I will show ὑμῖν you τίνι whom ἐστίν he is ὅμοιος· like. ὅμοιος Like ἐστίν he is ἀνθρώπῳ to a man οἰκοδομοῦντι building οἰκίαν a house, ὅς who ἔσκαψεν dug καί and ἐβάθυνεν deepened, καί and ἔθηκεν laid θεμέλιον a foundation ἐπί on τήν the πέτραν· rock; πλημμύρης a flood δέ then γενομένης having come, προσέρηξεν burst upon ὁ the ποταμός stream τῇ the οἰκίᾳ house ἐκείνῃ, that, καί and οὐ not ἴσχυσεν was able σαλεῦσαι to shake αὐτήν it, διά because τό - καλῶς well οἰκοδομῆσθαι had been built αὐτήν. it. ὁ The [one] δέ however ἀκούσας having heard, καί and μή not ποιήσας having done, ὅμοιος like ἐστίν is ἀνθρώπῳ to a man οἰκοδομήσαντι having built οἰκίαν a house ἐπί on τήν the γῆν ground χωρίς without θεμελίου, a foundation, ᾗ on which προσέρηξεν burst ὁ the ποταμός, stream, καί and εὐθύς immediately συνέπεσεν it fell, καί and ἐγένετο was τό the ῥῆγμα ruin τῆς of the οἰκίας house ἐκείνης that μέγα. great.
Ἐπειδή And when ἐπλήρωσεν He had completed πάντα all τά the ῥήματα words αὐτοῦ of Him εἰς in τάς the ἀκοάς hearing τοῦ of the λαοῦ, people, εἰσῆλθεν He entered εἰς into Καφαρναούμ. Capernaum. Ἑκατοντάρχου Of a centurion δέ then τινός a certain δοῦλος servant, κακῶς sick ἔχων being, ἤμελλεν was about τελευτᾶν, to die, ὅς who ἦν was αὐτῷ to him ἔντιμος. valued highly. ἀκούσας Having heard δέ then περί about τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus, ἀπέστειλεν he sent πρός to αὐτόν Him πρεσβυτέρους elders τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων Jews, ἐρωτῶν begging αὐτόν Him ὅπως that ἐλθών having come, διασώσῃ He might save τόν the δοῦλον servant αὐτοῦ. of him. οἱ - δέ And παραγενόμενοι having come πρός to τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus, παρεκάλουν they were begging αὐτόν Him σπουδαίως earnestly, λέγοντες saying ὅτι that, Ἄξιος Worthy ἐστίν he is, ᾧ to whom παρέξῃ You will grant τοῦτο· this; ἀγαπᾷ he loves γάρ for τό the ἔθνος nation ἡμῶν of us, καί and τήν the συναγωγήν synagogue αὐτός he ᾠκοδόμησεν built ἡμῖν. for us. ὁ - δέ And Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐπορεύετο was going σύν with αὐτοῖς. them. ἤδη Already δέ then, αὐτοῦ He οὐ not μακράν far ἀπέχοντος being distant ἀπό from τῆς the οἰκίας house, ἔπεμψεν sent φίλους friends ὁ the ἑκατοντάρχης centurion, λέγων saying αὐτῷ· to Him, Κύριε, Lord, μή not σκύλλου, trouble Yourself, οὐ not γάρ for ἱκανός worthy εἰμί I am ἵνα that ὑπό under τήν the στέγην roof μου of me εἰσέλθῃς· You should come; διό therefore οὐδέ neither ἐμαυτόν myself ἠξίωσα counted I worthy πρός to σέ You ἐλθεῖν· to come; ἀλλά but εἰπέ say λόγῳ, in a word, καί and ἰαθήτω shall be healed ὁ the παῖς servant μου. of me. καί Also γάρ for ἐγώ I ἄνθρωπος a man εἰμί am ὑπό under ἐξουσίαν authority τασσόμενος appointed, ἔχων having ὑπ ̓ under ἐμαυτόν me στρατιώτας, soldiers; καί and λέγω I say τούτῳ· to this [one], Πορεύθητι, Go, καί and πορεύεται, he goes; καί and ἄλλῳ· to another, Ἔρχου, Come, καί and ἔρχεται, he comes; καί and τῷ to δούλῳ [the] servant μου· of me, Ποίησον Do τοῦτο, this, καί and ποιεῖ. he does [it]. Ἀκούσας Having heard δέ then ταῦτα these things, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐθαύμασεν marveled at αὐτόν him; καί and στραφείς having turned τῷ to the ἀκολουθοῦντι following αὐτῷ Him ὄχλῳ crowd, εἶπεν· He said, Λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, οὐδέ not even ἐν in τῷ - Ἰσραήλ Israel τοσαύτην such great πίστιν faith εὗρον. did I find. καί And ὑποστρέψαντες having returned εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house, οἱ those πεμφθέντες having been sent εὗρον found τόν the δοῦλον servant ὑγιαίνοντα. in good health.
Καί And ἐγένετο it came to pass ἐν on τῷ the ἑξῆς next [day], ἐπορεύθη He went εἰς into πόλιν a town καλουμένην called Ναΐν Nain, καί and συνεπορεύοντο were going with αὐτῷ Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, καί and ὄχλος a crowd πολύς. great. ὡς As δέ then ἤγγισεν He drew near τῇ to the πύλῃ gate τῆς of the πόλεως, town, καί also ἰδού behold, ἐξεκομίζετο was being carried out τεθνηκώς [one] having died, μονογενής only begotten υἱός son τῇ of the μητρί mother αὐτοῦ of him; καί and αὐτή she ἦν was χήρα, a widow. καί And ὄχλος a crowd τῆς of the πόλεως town, ἱκανός considerable, ἦν was σύν with αὐτῇ. her.
