καί and ἐκράτησαν constrained οἱ the ἄγγελοι messengers τῆς - χειρός hand αὐτῶν his καί and τῆς the χειρός hand τῆς - γυναικός wife αὐτοῦ of his καί and τῶν the χειρῶν hands τῶν - δύο two θυγατέρων daughters αὐτοῦ, of his ἐν when τῷ - φείσασθαι spared Κύριον (the) LORD αὐτοῦ. him. καί And ἐγένετο it happened ἡνίκα when ἐξήγαγον they led αὐτούς them ἔξω outside καί also εἶπαν they said: Σώζων while saving σῶζε save τήν - σεαυτοῦ your own ψυχήν· soul, μή not περιβλέψῃς do look around εἰς to τά the (things) ὀπίσω behind μηδέ and (do) not στῇς stop ἐν in πάσῃ all τῇ the περιχώρῳ· surrounding country, εἰς to τό the ὄρος mountain, σώζου, escape μή not ποτέ when συνπαραλημφθῇς. you be overtaken. εἶπεν said δέ - Λώτ Lot πρός to αὐτούς them: Δέομαι, I pray, κύριε, Lord, ἐπειδή since εὗρεν found ὁ - παῖς servant σου your ἔλεος mercy ἐναντίον before σου you καί and ἐμεγάλυνας you increased τήν - δικαιοσύνην righteousness, σου, your ὅ which ποιεῖς you are doing ἐπ ̓ concerning ἐμέ, me, τοῦ - ζῇν in order that might live, τήν - ψυχήν soul μου· my ἐγώ I δέ but οὐ not δυνήσομαι will be able διασωθῆναι to come safe to εἰς to τό the ὄρος, mountain. μή not καταλάβῃ Let lay hold of με me τά the κακά bad things καί and ἀποθάνω· I die, ἰδού Look, ἡ - πόλις city αὕτη this ἐγγύς near τοῦ - καταφυγεῖν in order to give refuge με me ἐκεῖ, there, ἥ (and) it ἐστίν is μικρά· small; ἐκεῖ there. σωθήσομαι· I will be saved οὐ not μικρά small? ἐστίν; Is it καί And ζήσεται will live. ἡ - ψυχή soul μου my ἕνεκεν because of σοῦ. you. καί And εἶπεν he said αὐτῷ to him: Ἰδού Look, ἐθαύμασα I have honoured σου your τό - πρόσωπον face καί and ἐπί upon τῷ - ῥήματι word τούτῳ this τοῦ - μή not καταστρέψαι in order to overturn τήν the πόλιν city, περί concerning ἧς which ἐλάλησας· you spoke. σπεῦσον Hurry, οὖν therefore, τοῦ - σωθῆναι in order to be saved ἐκεῖ· there, οὐ not γάρ for δυνήσομαι I will be able ποιῆσαι to do πρᾶγμα a thing ἕως until τοῦ - σε you ἐλθεῖν go ἐκεῖ. there. διά Because of τοῦτο this ἐπωνόμασεν is called τό the ὄνομα name τῆς - πόλεως city ἐκείνης of that Σήγωρ. Zoar. ὁ The ἥλιος sun ἐξῆλθεν came out ἐπί on τήν the γῆν, earth, καί and Λώτ Lot εἰσῆλθεν entered εἰς into Σήγωρ, Zoar. καί And Κύριος (the) LORD ἔβρεξεν rained ἐπί on Σόδομα Sodom καί and Γόμορρα Gomorrah θεῖον sulfur καί and πῦρ fire παρά from Κυρίου (the) LORD ἐκ out of τοῦ - οὐρανοῦ, heaven καί and κατέστρεψεν he overturned τάς - πόλεις cities, ταύτας these ἐν in αἷς which κατῴκει he resided ἐν in αὐταῖς those Λώτ Lot καί and πᾶσαν all περίοικον region round about καί and πάντας all τούς those κατοικοῦντας dwelling ἐν in ταῖς the πόλεσιν cities καί and πάντα all τά the things ἀνατέλλοντα springing forth ἐκ out of τῆς the γῆς. earth. καί And ἐπέβλεψεν looked ἡ - γυνή wife αὐτοῦ his εἰς toward τά the things ὀπίσω, behind καί and ἐγένετο she became στήλη a pillar ἁλός. of salt. ὤρθρισεν made an early start δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham τό in the πρωί morning εἰς to τόν the τόπον place οὗ where ἱστήκει he had stood ἐναντίον opposite Κυρίου, (the) LORD, καί and ἐπέβλεψεν he looked upon ἐπί upon πρόσωπον the face Σοδόμων of Sodom καί and Γομόρρας Gomorrah καί and ἐπί upon πρόσωπον the face τῆς of the γῆς land τῆς of the περιχώρου, country round about καί and ἴδεν· he saw, καί and, ἰδού look, ἀνέβαινεν was going up φλόξ a flame τῆς of the γῆς land ὡσεί like ἀτμίς smoke καμίνου. of a furnace.

Καί And ἐγένετο it happened ἐν while τῷ - ἐκτρίψαι destroyed Κύριον the Lord πάσας all τάς the πόλεις cities τῆς of the περιοίκου, surrounding country ἐμνήσθη remembered ὁ - θεός God τοῦ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham καί and ἐξαπέστειλεν sent forth τόν - Λώτ Lot ἐκ out of μέσου the midst τῆς of the καταστροφῆς, destruction ἐν while τῷ - καταστρέψαι overturned Κύριον the Lord τάς the πόλεις cities ἐν - αἷς which κατῴκει dwelt ἐν in. αὐταῖς - Λώτ. Καί And ἐξῆλθεν went out Λώτ Lot ἐκ from Σήγωρ, Zoar καί and ἐκάθητο was settled ἐν in τῷ the ὄρει mountain καί and αἱ - δύο two θυγατέρες daughters αὐτοῦ his μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ· him, ἐφοβήθη he was afraid γάρ for κατοικῆσαι to dwell ἐν in Σήγωρ· Zoar. καί And ᾤκησεν he lived ἐν in τῷ the σπηλαίῳ cave, αὐτός he καί and αἱ - δύο two θυγατέρες daughters αὐτοῦ his μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ. him. εἶπεν said δέ - ἡ The πρεσβυτέρα old (daughter) πρός to τήν the νεωτέραν younger (one): ὁ - πατήρ father ἡμῶν Our πρεσβύτερος, (is) older, καί and οὐδείς no one ἐστίν there is ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth, ὅς who εἰσελεύσεται will go in πρός to ἡμᾶς us, ὡς as καθήκει is fitting πάσῃ in all τῇ the γῇ. land. δεῦρο come: οὖν Therefore, ποτίσωμεν let us give to drink τόν - πατέρα father ἡμῶν our οἶνον wine καί and κοιμηθῶμεν let us sleep μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ, him καί and ἐξαναστήσωμεν let us raise up ἐκ from τοῦ - πατρός father. ἡμῶν our σπέρμα. offspring ἐπότισαν They gave to drink δέ - τόν - πατέρα father αὐτῶν their οἶνον wine ἐν on τῇ - νυκτί night, ταύτῃ, this καί and εἰσελθοῦσα having entered, ἡ the πρεσβυτέρα elder one, ἐκοιμήθη slept μετά with τοῦ - πατρός father αὐτῆς her τήν - νύκτα night, ἐκείνην· that καί and οὐ not ᾔδει he did know ἐν when τῷ - κοιμηθῆναι slept αὐτήν she καί and ἀναστῆναι. rose up. ἐγένετο It happened δέ - τῇ on the ἐπαύριον next day καί that εἶπεν said ἡ the πρεσβυτέρα older (daughter) πρός to τήν the νεωτέραν younger one: Ἰδού Look, ἐκοιμήθην I slept ἐχθές yesterday μετά with τοῦ - πατρός father. ἡμῶν· our ποτίσωμεν Let us give to drink αὐτόν him οἶνον wine καί also τήν - νύκτα night, ταύτην, this καί and, εἰσελθοῦσα having entered, κοιμήθητι sleep μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ, him, καί and ἐξαναστήσωμεν let us raise up ἐκ from τοῦ - πατρός father. ἡμῶν our σπέρμα. offspring ἐπότισαν they gave to drink, δέ - καί also ἐν On τῇ - νυκτί night ἐκείνῃ that τόν - πατέρα father αὐτῶν their οἶνον, wine καί and, εἰσελθοῦσα having entered, ἡ the νεωτέρα younger (daughter) ἐκοιμήθη laid μετά with τοῦ - πατρός father, αὐτῆς· her καί and οὐ not ᾔδει he did know ἐν when τῷ - κοιμηθῆναι laid down αὐτήν she καί and ἀναστῆναι. rose up. καί And συνέλαβον conceived αἱ the δύο two θυγατέρες daughters Λώτ of Lot ἐκ by τοῦ - πατρός father. αὐτῶν. their καί And ἔτεκεν bore ἡ the πρεσβυτέρα elder υἱόν, a son καί and ἐκάλεσεν called τό - ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ his Μωάβ Moab, λέγουσα saying: ἐκ From- τοῦ - πατρός father! μου· my- οὗτος He (is) πατήρ the father Μωαβιτῶν of the Moabite ἕως until τῆς the σήμερον present ἡμέρας. day. ἔτεκεν bore δέ - καί also ἡ The νεωτέρα younger υἱόν, a son καί and ἐκάλεσεν called τό - ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ his Ἀμμάν, Ammon, ὁ the υἱός Son- τοῦ - γένους race. μου· of-my- οὗτος He (is) πατήρ the father Ἀμμανιτῶν of the Ammonites ἕως until τῆς the σήμερον present ἡμέρας. day.

Καί And ἐκίνησεν moved ἐκεῖθεν from there Ἀβραάμ Abraham εἰς to γῆν the land πρός to λίβα, the south καί and ᾤκησεν lived ἀνά a going up μέσον the middle of Καδής Kadesh καί and ἀνά a going up μέσον the middle of Σούρ· Shur καί and παρῴκησεν dwelled ἐν in Γεράροις. Gerar. εἶπεν said δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham περί concerning Σάρρας Sarah τῆς - γυναικός wife: αὐτοῦ his ὅτι - Ἀδελφή sister; μού my ἐστίν· She is ἐφοβήθη he was afraid γάρ for εἰπεῖν to say: ὅτι - Γυνή wife; μού my ἐστίν, She is μή not ποτέ when ἀποκτείνωσιν kill αὐτόν him οἱ the ἄνδρες men τῆς of the πόλεως city δι ̓ because of αὐτήν. her. ἀπέστειλεν sent δέ - Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech βασιλεύς the king Γεράρων of Gerar καί and ἔλαβεν took τήν - Σάρραν. Sarah. καί And εἰσῆλθεν came in ὁ - θεός God πρός to Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech ἐν in ὕπνῳ (his) sleep τήν in the νύκτα, night καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Ἰδού Look, σύ you ἀποθνήσκεις are about to die περί because of τῆς the γυναικός woman ἧς whom ἔλαβες· you took. αὕτη She δέ - ἐστίν is συνῳκηκυῖα married ἀνδρί. with a man. Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech δέ - οὐ not ἥψατο had touched αὐτῆς, her καί and εἶπεν he said: Κύριε, Lord, ἔθνος nation? ἀγνοοῦν an ignorant καί and δίκαιον righteous ἀπολεῖς; will you destroy οὐ not αὐτός he himself μοι to me: εἶπεν Did say Ἀδελφή sister. μού my ἐστίν; She is καί And αὕτη she herself μοι to me: εἶπεν said Ἀδελφός brother. μού my ἐστίν· He is ἐν With καθαρᾷ a pure καρδίᾳ heart καί and ἐν with δικαιοσύνῃ righteousness χειρῶν of hands ἐποίησα I did τοῦτο. this. εἶπεν spoke δέ - αὐτῷ to him ὁ - θεός God καθ ̓ during ὕπνον (his) sleep: Κἀγώ And I ἔγνων knew ὅτι that ἐν with καθαρᾷ a pure καρδίᾳ heart ἐποίησας you did τοῦτο, this, καί and ἐφεισάμην spared ἐγώ I σου you τοῦ (so that) μή (might) not ἁμαρτεῖν sin σε you εἰς in regard to ἐμέ· me. ἕνεκεν For this reason τούτου - οὐ not ἀφῆκα I did permit σε you ἅψασθαι to touch αὐτῆς. her. νῦν Now δέ - ἀπόδος return τήν the γυναῖκα woman τῷ to the ἀνθρώπῳ, man, ὅτι because προφήτης a prophet ἐστίν he is καί and προσεύξεται he will pray περί for σοῦ, you καί and ζήσῃ· you will live, εἰ if δέ and μή not ἀποδίδως, you do return (her), γνῶθι know ὅτι that ἀποθανῇ you will die, σύ you καί and πάντα all τά things. σά. your καί And ὤρθρισεν rose early Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech τό in the πρωί morning καί and ἐκάλεσεν called πάντας all τούς - παῖδας servants αὐτοῦ, his καί and ἐλάλησεν said πάντα all τά - ῥήματα matters ταῦτα these εἰς in τά - ὦτα ears, αὐτῶν· their ἐφοβήθησαν were afraid. δέ and πάντες all οἱ the ἄνθρωποι people σφόδρα. very καί And ἐκάλεσεν summoned Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech τόν - Ἀβραάμ Abraham καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Τί Why τοῦτο this ἐποίησας did you do ἡμῖν; to us? μή - τὶ any ἡμάρτομεν Did we do wrong εἰς towards σέ, you, ὅτι that ἐπήγαγες you brought ἐπ ̓ upon ἐμέ me καί and ἐπί upon τήν - βασιλείαν kingdom μου my ἁμαρτίαν sin? μεγάλην; great ἔργον a deed ὅ which οὐδείς no one ποιήσει would do. πεποίηκας You have done μοι. to me εἶπεν said δέ - Ἀβιμέλεχ Abraham τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abimelech: Τί Why, ἐνιδών when seeing (what was happening), ἐποίησας did you do τοῦτο; this? εἶπεν said: δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham Εἶπα I said: γάρ For Ἄρα As it seems, οὐ no ἔστιν there is θεοσέβεια fear of God ἐν in τῷ - τόπῳ, place; τούτῳ, this ἐμέ me τέ and ἀποκτενοῦσιν they will kill ἕνεκεν on account of τῆς - γυναικός wife. μου. my καί indeed γάρ For ἀληθῶς truly, ἀδελφή sister μού my ἐστίν she is ἐκ from πατρός, (my) father, ἀλλ ̓ but οὐ not ἐκ from μητρός· (my) mother, ἐγενήθη she became δέ and μοι to me εἰς for γυναῖκα. a wife. ἐγένετο It happened δέ - ἡνίκα when ἐξήγαγεν led out με me ὁ - θεός God ἐκ from τοῦ the οἴκου house τοῦ - πατρός father, μου of my καί then εἶπα I said αὐτῇ to her: Ταύτην This τήν - δικαιοσύνην righteousness ποίησον Do ἐπ ̓ for ἐμέ· me: εἰς In πάντα every τόπον place οὗ where ἐάν -ever εἰσέλθωμεν we may enter ἐκεῖ, there, εἰπόν say ἐμέ (about) me: ὅτι - Ἀδελφός brother. μού my ἐστίν. He is ἔλαβεν took δέ - Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech χίλια a thousand δίδραχμα, didrachmas, πρόβατα sheep καί and μόσχους calves, καί and παῖδας servants καί and παιδίσκας, maidens καί and ἔδωκεν gave (them) τῷ - Ἀβράμ· to Abraham καί and ἀπέδωκεν returned αὐτῷ to him Σάρραν Sarah τήν - γυναῖκα wife. αὐτοῦ. his καί And εἶπεν said Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abraham: Ἰδού Look, ἡ - γῆ land μου my ἐναντίον (is) before σου· you, οὗ where ἐάν -ever σοι you, ἀρέσκῃ it pleases κατοίκει. dwell. τῇ - δέ - Σάρρᾳ to Sarah: εἶπεν He said Ἰδού Look, δέδωκα I have given χίλια a thousand δίδραχμα didrachmas τῷ - ἀδελφῷ brother. σου· to your ταῦτα These ἔσται will be σοι to you εἰς for τιμήν honour τοῦ - προσώπου face σου of your καί and πάσαις to all ταῖς those μετά with σοῦ· you. καί Now, πάντα (about) everything. ἀλήθευσον. speak truthfully προσηύξατο prayed δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham πρός to τόν - θεόν, God, καί and ἰάσατο healed ὁ - θεός God τόν - Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech καί and τήν - γυναῖκα wife αὐτοῦ his καί and τάς - παιδίσκας maidens, αὐτοῦ, his καί and ἔτεκον· they bore children, ὅτι because, συνέκλεισεν shut Κύριος (the) LORD ἔξωθεν (from) outside πᾶσαν every μήτραν womb ἐν in τῷ the οἴκῳ house τοῦ - Ἀβιμέλεχ of Abimelech ἕνεκεν on account of Σάρρας Sarah τῆς the γυναικός wife Ἀβραάμ. of Abraham.

Καί And Κύριος (the) LORD ἐπεσκέψατο visited τήν - Σάρραν, Sarah, καθά as εἶπεν· he said, καί and ἐποίησεν did Κύριος (the) LORD τῇ - Σάρρᾳ to Sarah καθά as ἐλάλησεν. he talked about. καί And, συλλαβοῦσα after conceiving, ἔτεκεν bore Σάρρα Sarah τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abraham υἱόν a son εἰς in τό (his) γῆρας, old age εἰς at τόν the καιρόν time καθά just as ἐλάλησεν talked about αὐτῷ to him. Κύριος. (the) Lord καί And ἐκάλεσεν called Ἀβραάμ Abraham τό the ὄνομα name τοῦ - υἱοῦ son αὐτοῦ of his τοῦ who γενομένου was born αὐτῷ, to him, ὅν whom ἔτεκεν bore αὐτῷ to him, Σάρρα, Sarah Ἰσαάκ· Isaac. περιέτεμεν circumcised δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham τόν - Ἰσαάκ Isaac τῇ on the ὀγδόῃ eighth ἡμέρᾳ, day, καθά just as ἐνετείλατο commanded αὐτῷ him. ὁ - θεός.
