μέλλει Is about γάρ for ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man ἔρχεσθαι to come ἐν in τῇ the δόξῃ glory τοῦ the Πατρός Father αὐτοῦ of Him, μετά with τῶν the ἀγγέλων angels αὐτοῦ, of Him; καί and τότε then ἀποδώσει He will give ἑκάστῳ to each κατά according to τήν the πρᾶξιν deeds αὐτοῦ. of him. Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι -, εἰσίν there are τινές some τῶν of those ὧδε here ἑστώτων standing οἵτινες who οὐ no μή not γεύσωνται shall taste θανάτου of death ἕως until ἄν - ἴδωσιν they have seen τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐρχόμενον coming ἐν in τῇ the βασιλείᾳ kingdom αὐτοῦ. of Him.
Καί And μεθ ̓ after ἡμέρας days ἕξ six, παραλαμβάνει takes with [Him] ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, τόν - Πέτρον Peter καί and Ἰάκωβον James καί and Ἰωάννην John, τόν the ἀδελφόν brother αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἀναφέρει brings up αὐτούς them εἰς into ὄρος a mountain ὑψηλόν high κατ ̓ by ἰδίαν. themselves. καί And μετεμορφώθη He was transfigured ἔμπροσθεν before αὐτῶν, them, καί and ἔλαμψεν shone τό the πρόσωπον face αὐτοῦ of Him ὡς like ὁ the ἥλιος, sun, τά - δέ and ἱμάτια the clothes αὐτοῦ of Him ἐγένετο became λευκά white ὡς as τό the φῶς. light. Καί And ἰδού behold, ὤφθη appeared αὐτοῖς to them Μωϋσῆς Moses καί and Ἠλίας Elijah, συλλαλοῦντες talking μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ. Him. ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter εἶπεν said τῷ - Ἰησοῦ· to Jesus, Κύριε, Lord, καλόν good ἐστίν it is ἡμᾶς for us ὧδε here εἶναι· to be. εἰ If θέλεις, You wish, ποιήσω I will make ὧδε here τρεῖς three σκηνάς, tabernacles, σοί for You μίαν one, καί and Μωϋσεῖ for Moses μίαν one, καί and Ἠλίᾳ for Elijah μίαν. one. Ἔτι While yet αὐτοῦ he λαλοῦντος was speaking, ἰδού behold, νεφέλη a cloud φωτεινή bright ἐπεσκίασεν overshadowed αὐτούς, them; καί and ἰδού behold, φωνή a voice ἐκ out of τῆς the νεφέλης cloud, λέγουσα· saying, Οὗτος This ἐστίν is ὁ the Υἱός Son μου of Me, ὁ the ἀγαπητός, beloved, ἐν in ᾧ whom εὐδόκησα· I am well pleased. ἀκούετε Listen αὐτοῦ. to Him! καί And ἀκούσαντες having heard [it], οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ἔπεσαν fell ἐπί upon πρόσωπον face αὐτῶν of them καί and ἐφοβήθησαν were terrified σφόδρα. greatly. Καί And προσῆλθεν having come to [them] ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, καί and ἁψάμενος having touched αὐτῶν them, εἶπεν· He said, Ἐγέρθητε Rise up, καί and μή not φοβεῖσθε. be afraid. ἐπάραντες Having lifted up δέ and τούς the ὀφθαλμούς eyes αὐτῶν of them, οὐδένα no one εἶδον they saw εἰ if μή not αὐτόν Himself Ἰησοῦν Jesus μόνον. alone.
Καί And καταβαινόντων [as] were descending αὐτῶν they ἐκ from τοῦ the ὄρους mountain, ἐνετείλατο instructed αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, λέγων· saying, Μηδενί To no one εἴπητε tell τό the ὅραμα vision, ἕως until οὗ that ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐκ out from νεκρῶν [the] dead ἐγερθῇ. is risen. Καί And ἐπηρώτησαν asked αὐτόν Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples, λέγοντες· saying, Τί Why οὖν then οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes λέγουσιν say ὅτι that Ἠλίαν Elijah δεῖ it behooves ἐλθεῖν to come πρῶτον; first? ὁ - δέ And ἀποκριθείς answering, εἶπεν· He said, Ἠλίας Elijah μέν indeed ἔρχεται comes, καί and ἀποκαταστήσει will restore πάντα· all things. λέγω I say δέ however ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that Ἠλίας Elijah ἤδη already ἦλθεν, is come, καί and οὐ not ἐπέγνωσαν they knew αὐτόν him, ἀλλά but ἐποίησαν did ἐν to αὐτῷ him ὅσα whatever ἠθέλησαν· they desired. οὕτως Thus καί also, ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man μέλλει is about πάσχειν to suffer ὑπ ̓ from αὐτῶν. them. τότε Then συνῆκαν understood οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ὅτι that περί concerning Ἰωάννου John τοῦ the Βαπτιστοῦ Baptist εἶπεν He spoke αὐτοῖς. to them.
Καί And ἐλθόντων they having come πρός to τόν the ὄχλον crowd, προσῆλθεν came αὐτῷ to Him ἄνθρωπος a man γονυπετῶν kneeling down to αὐτόν Him καί and λέγων· saying, Κύριε, Lord, ἐλέησον have mercy on μου my τόν - υἱόν, son, ὅτι for σεληνιάζεται he is epileptic καί and κακῶς miserably πάσχει· suffers; πολλάκις often γάρ for πίπτει he falls εἰς into τό the πῦρ fire, καί and πολλάκις often εἰς into τό the ὕδωρ. water. καί And προσήνεγκα I brought αὐτόν him τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples σου, of You, καί and οὐ not ἠδυνήθησαν they were able αὐτόν him θεραπεῦσαι. to heal. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν· said, Ὦ O γενεά generation ἄπιστος unbelieving καί and διεστραμμένη, perverted, ἕως how long πότε when μεθ ̓ with ὑμῶν you ἔσομαι; will I be? ἕως How long πότε when ἀνέξομαι will I bear with ὑμῶν; you? φέρετε Bring μοι to Me αὐτόν him ὧδε. here. καί And ἐπετίμησεν rebuked αὐτῷ him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, καί and ἐξῆλθεν went out ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ him τό the δαιμόνιον demon, καί and ἐθεραπεύθη was healed ὁ the παῖς boy ἀπό from τῆς the ὥρας hour ἐκείνης. that.
Τότε Then προσελθόντες having come οἱ the μαθηταί disciples τῷ - Ἰησοῦ to Jesus κατ ̓ in ἰδίαν private, εἶπον· they said, Διά Because of τί why ἡμεῖς we οὐ not ἠδυνήθημεν were able ἐκβαλεῖν to cast out αὐτό; it? ὁ - δέ And λέγει He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Διά Because of τήν the ὀλιγοπιστίαν little faith ὑμῶν· of you. ἀμήν Truly γάρ for λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ἐάν If ἔχητε you have πίστιν faith ὡς as κόκκον a seed σινάπεως, of mustard, ἐρεῖτε you will say τῷ to the ὄρει mountain τούτῳ· to this, Μετάβα Move ἔνθεν from here ἐκεῖ, to there, καί and μεταβήσεται· it will move. καί And οὐδέν nothing ἀδυνατήσει will be impossible ὑμῖν. for you.”
Συστρεφομένων Were abiding δέ now αὐτῶν they ἐν in τῇ - Γαλιλαίᾳ Galilee, εἶπεν said αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Μέλλει Is about ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man παραδίδοσθαι to be betrayed εἰς into χεῖρας [the] hands ἀνθρώπων, of men, καί and ἀποκτενοῦσιν they will kill αὐτόν, Him, καί and τῇ on the τρίτῃ third ἡμέρᾳ day ἐγερθήσεται. He will be raised up. καί And ἐλυπήθησαν they were grieved σφόδρα. deeply.
Ἐλθόντων Having come δέ now αὐτῶν they εἰς to Καφαρναούμ Capernaum, προσῆλθον came οἱ those τά the δίδραχμα didrachmas λαμβάνοντες collecting τῷ - Πέτρῳ to Peter καί and εἶπαν· said, ὁ The διδάσκαλος Teacher ὑμῶν of you οὐ not τελεῖ does he pay τά the δίδραχμα; didrachmas? Λέγει· He says, Ναί. Yes. Καί And ἐλθόντα he having entered εἰς into τήν the οἰκίαν house, προέφθασεν anticipated αὐτόν him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, λέγων· saying, Τί What σοι you δοκεῖ, do think, Σίμων; Simon? οἱ The βασιλεῖς kings τῆς of the γῆς earth, ἀπό from τίνων whom λαμβάνουσιν do they receive τέλη custom ἤ or κῆνσον; tribute? ἀπό From τῶν the υἱῶν sons αὐτῶν of them, ἤ or ἀπό from τῶν - ἀλλοτρίων; strangers? Εἰπόντος He having said δέ· now, Ἀπό From τῶν the ἀλλοτρίων, strangers, ἔφη said αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἄρα γέ Then ἐλεύθεροι free εἰσίν are οἱ the υἱοί. sons. ἵνα That δέ however μή not σκανδαλίσωμεν we might offend αὐτούς, them, πορευθείς having gone εἰς to θάλασσαν sea, βάλε cast ἄγκιστρον a hook, καί and τόν the ἀναβάντα having come up πρῶτον first ἰχθύν fish ἆρον, take, καί and ἀνοίξας having opened τό the στόμα mouth αὐτοῦ of it, εὑρήσεις you will find στατῆρα· a four-drachma coin. ἐκεῖνον That λαβών having taken, δός give αὐτοῖς to them ἀντί for ἐμοῦ Me καί and σοῦ. yourself.
ἐν In ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ὥρᾳ hour προσῆλθον came οἱ the μαθηταί disciples τῷ - Ἰησοῦ to Jesus, λέγοντες· saying, Τίς Who ἄρα then μείζων [the] greatest ἐστίν is ἐν in τῇ the βασιλείᾳ kingdom τῶν of the οὐρανῶν; heavens? Καί And προσκαλεσάμενος having called to [Him] παιδίον a child, ἔστησεν He set αὐτό it ἐν in μέσῳ midst αὐτῶν of them, καί and εἶπεν· said, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ἐάν if μή not στραφῆτε you turn καί and γένησθε become ὡς as τά the παιδία, little children, οὐ no μή not εἰσέλθητε shall you enter εἰς into τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom τῶν of the οὐρανῶν. heavens. ὅστις Whoever οὖν therefore ταπεινώσει will humble ἑαυτόν himself ὡς as τό the παιδίον little child τοῦτο, this, οὗτος he ἐστίν is ὁ the μείζων greatest ἐν in τῇ the βασιλείᾳ kingdom τῶν of the οὐρανῶν. heavens. καί And ὅς whoever ἐάν if δέξηται shall receive ἕν one παιδίον little child τοιοῦτο such ἐπί in τῷ the ὀνόματι name μου, of Me, ἐμέ Me δέχεται. receives.
Ὅς Whoever δ ̓ then ἄν - σκανδαλίσῃ shall cause to stumble ἕνα one τῶν of the μικρῶν little ones τούτων of these τῶν - πιστευόντων believing εἰς in ἐμέ, Me, συμφέρει it is better αὐτῷ for him ἵνα that κρεμασθῇ should be hung μύλος a millstone ὀνικός heavy περί around τόν the τράχηλον neck αὐτοῦ of him, καί and καταποντισθῇ he be sunk ἐν in τῷ the πελάγει depth τῆς of the θαλάσσης. sea. Οὐαί Woe τῷ to the κόσμῳ world ἀπό because of τῶν the σκανδάλων· causes of sin. ἀνάγκη Necessary [are] γάρ for ἐλθεῖν to come τά the σκάνδαλα, stumbling blocks, πλήν but οὐαί woe τῷ to the ἀνθρώπῳ man δι ̓ by οὗ whom τό the σκάνδαλον offense ἔρχεται. comes! εἰ If δέ now ἡ the χείρ hand σου of you ἤ or ὁ the πούς foot σου of you σκανδαλίζει causes to sin σε, you, ἔκκοψον cut off αὐτόν it καί and βάλε cast [it] ἀπό from σοῦ· you; καλόν better σοί for you ἐστίν it is εἰσελθεῖν to enter εἰς into τήν - ζωήν life κυλλόν crippled ἤ or χωλόν lame, ἤ than δύο two χεῖρας hands ἤ or δύο two πόδας feet ἔχοντα having, βληθῆναι to be cast εἰς into τό the πῦρ fire τό - αἰώνιον. eternal. καί And εἰ if ὁ the ὀφθαλμός eye σου of you σκανδαλίζει causes to sin σε, you, ἔξελε gouge out αὐτόν it καί and βάλε cast [it] ἀπό from σοῦ· you; καλόν better σοί for you ἐστίν it is μονόφθαλμον one-eyed εἰς into τήν - ζωήν life εἰσελθεῖν to enter, ἤ than δύο two ὀφθαλμούς eyes ἔχοντα having βληθῆναι to be cast εἰς into τήν the γέενναν hell τοῦ of the πυρός. fire.
Ὁρᾶτε See [that] μή not καταφρονήσητε you despise ἑνός one τῶν of the μικρῶν little ones τούτων· of these. λέγω I say γάρ for ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that οἱ the ἄγγελοι angels αὐτῶν of them ἐν in οὐρανοῖς [the] heavens διά continually παντός always βλέπουσι behold τό the πρόσωπον face τοῦ of the Πατρός Father μου of me, τοῦ who [is] ἐν in οὐρανοῖς. [the] heavens.
Τί What ὑμῖν you δοκεῖ; do think? ἐάν If γένηται there should be τινί to any ἀνθρώπῳ man ἑκατόν a hundred πρόβατα sheep, καί and πλανηθῇ has gone astray ἕν one ἐκ of αὐτῶν, them, οὐχί not ἀφήσει will he leave τά the ἐνενήκοντα ninety ἐννέα nine ἐπί on τά the ὄρη mountains, καί and πορευθείς having gone, ζητεῖ seek τό the [one] πλανώμενον; going astray? καί And ἐάν if γένηται he should εὑρεῖν find αὐτό, it, ἀμήν truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that χαίρει he rejoices ἐπ ̓ over αὐτῷ it μᾶλλον more ἤ than ἐπί over τοῖς the ἐνενήκοντα ninety ἐννέα nine τοῖς - μή not πεπλανημένοις. having gone astray. οὕτως Thus οὐ not ἔστιν it is θέλημα [the] will ἔμπροσθεν of τοῦ the Πατρός Father ὑμῶν of you τοῦ who [is] ἐν in οὐρανοῖς [the] heavens, ἵνα that ἀπόληται should perish ἕν one τῶν of the μικρῶν little ones τούτων. of these.
Ἐάν If δέ now ἁμαρτήσῃ sins εἰς against σέ you ὁ the ἀδελφός brother σου, of you, ὕπαγε go ἔλεγξον reprove αὐτόν him, μεταξύ between σοῦ you καί and αὐτοῦ him μόνου. alone. ἐάν If σου you ἀκούσῃ, he will hear, ἐκέρδησας you have gained τόν the ἀδελφόν brother σου· of you. ἐάν If δέ however μή not ἀκούσῃ, he will hear, παράλαβε take μετά with σοῦ you ἔτι more, ἕνα one ἤ or δύο, two, ἵνα that Ἐπί upon στόματος [the] testimony δύο of two μαρτύρων witnesses ἤ or τριῶν of three, σταθῇ may be strengthened πᾶν every ῥῆμα· word.’ ἐάν If δέ now παρακούσῃ he fails to listen αὐτῶν, to them, εἰπέ tell [it] τῇ to the ἐκκλησίᾳ· church. ἐάν If δέ now καί also τῆς to the ἐκκλησίας church παρακούσῃ, he fails to listen, ἔστω let him be σοι to you ὥσπερ as ὁ the ἐθνικός pagan καί and ὁ the τελώνης. tax collector. Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν· to you, ὅσα how many ἐάν if δήσητε you shall bind ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth, ἔσται shall have been δεδεμένα bound ἐν in οὐρανῷ, heaven; καί and ὅσα how many ἐάν if λύσητε you shall loose ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth, ἔσται shall have been λελυμένα loosed ἐν in οὐρανῷ. heaven.
Πάλιν Again ἀμήν truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that ἐάν if δύο two συμφωνήσωσιν might agree ἐκ of ὑμῶν you ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth περί concerning παντός any πράγματος matter, οὗ that ἐάν if αἰτήσωνται, they shall ask, γενήσεται it will be done αὐτοῖς for them παρά by τοῦ the Πατρός Father μου of Me τοῦ who [is] ἐν in οὐρανοῖς. [the] heavens. οὗ Where γάρ for εἰσίν are δύο two ἤ or τρεῖς three συνηγμένοι gathered together εἰς unto τό - ἐμόν My ὄνομα, name, ἐκεῖ there εἰμί am I ἐν in μέσῳ [the] midst αὐτῶν. of them.
Τότε Then προσελθών having come, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to Him, Κύριε, Lord, ποσάκις how often ἁμαρτήσει will sin εἰς against ἐμέ me ὁ the ἀδελφός brother μου of me, καί and ἀφήσω I will forgive αὐτῷ; him? ἕως Up to ἑπτάκις; seven times? Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, οὐ Not λέγω I say σοι to you ἕως up to ἑπτάκις seven times, ἀλλά but ἕως up to ἑβδομηκοντάκις seventy times ἑπτά. seven!
Διά Because of τοῦτο this, ὡμοιώθη has become like ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τῶν of the οὐρανῶν heavens ἀνθρώπῳ to a man, βασιλεῖ, a king, ὅς who ἠθέλησεν desired συνᾶραι to settle λόγον accounts μετά with τῶν the δούλων servants αὐτοῦ. of him. ἀρξαμένου Having begun δέ then αὐτοῦ he συναίρειν to settle, προσηνέχθη was brought αὐτῷ to him, εἷς one ὀφειλέτης a debtor μυρίων of ten thousand ταλάντων. talents.
