Γνούς Having known [this] δέ however, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν· said, Τί Why διαλογίζεσθε reason you ἐν among ἑαυτοῖς, yourselves, ὀλιγόπιστοι, O [you] of little faith, ὅτι because ἄρτους bread οὐ not ἔχετε; you took? οὔπω Not yet νοεῖτε, do you understand, οὐδέ nor μνημονεύετε remember τούς the πέντε five ἄρτους loaves τῶν for the πεντακισχιλίων five thousand, καί and πόσους how many κοφίνους hand-baskets ἐλάβετε; you gathered? οὐδέ Nor τούς the ἑπτά seven ἄρτους loaves τῶν for the τετρακισχιλίων four thousand, καί and πόσας how many σπυρίδας baskets ἐλάβετε; you gathered? πῶς How οὐ not νοεῖτε understand you ὅτι that, οὐ not περί concerning ἄρτων bread εἶπον I spoke ὑμῖν; to you, προσέχετε to beware δέ also ἀπό of τῆς the ζύμης leaven τῶν of the Φαρισαίων Pharisees καί and Σαδδουκαίων. Sadducees? Τότε Then συνῆκαν they understood ὅτι that οὐ not εἶπεν He said προσέχειν to beware ἀπό of τῆς the ζύμης leaven τῶν of ἄρτων bread, ἀλλά but ἀπό of τῆς the διδαχῆς teaching τῶν of the Φαρισαίων Pharisees καί and Σαδδουκαίων. Ἐλθών Having come δέ then ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἰς into τά the μέρη district Καισαρείας of Caesarea τῆς - Φιλίππου Philippi, ἠρώτα He was questioning τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, λέγων· saying, Τίνα Whom λέγουσιν do pronounce οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men εἶναι to be τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ of ἀνθρώπου; man? οἱ - δέ And εἶπαν· they said, οἱ Some μέν indeed Ἰωάννην John τόν the Βαπτιστήν, Baptist; ἄλλοι others δέ now Ἠλίαν, Elijah; ἕτεροι others δέ now Ἰερεμίαν Jeremiah, ἤ or ἕνα one τῶν of the προφητῶν. prophets. Λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ὑμεῖς You δέ but τίνα whom με Me λέγετε do you pronounce εἶναι; to be? Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, Σίμων Simon Πέτρος Peter εἶπεν· said, Σύ You εἶ are ὁ the Χριστός Christ, ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ of Θεοῦ God τοῦ the ζῶντος. living. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Μακάριος Blessed εἶ, are you, Σίμων Simon Βαριωνᾶ, Barjona! ὅτι For σάρξ flesh καί and αἷμα blood οὐ not ἀπεκάλυψεν revealed [it] σοι to you, ἀλλ ̓ but ὁ the Πατήρ Father μου of Me, ὁ who [is] ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς. heavens. κἀγώ I also δέ now σοι to you λέγω say ὅτι that σύ you εἶ are Πέτρος, Peter, καί and ἐπί on ταύτῃ this τῇ the πέτρᾳ rock οἰκοδομήσω I will build μου My τήν - ἐκκλησίαν church, καί and πύλαι [the] gates ᾅδου of hades οὐ not κατισχύσουσιν will prevail against αὐτῆς. it. δώσω I will give σοι to you τάς the κλεῖδας keys τῆς of the βασιλείας kingdom τῶν of the οὐρανῶν, heavens; καί and ὅ whatever ἐάν if δήσῃς you might bind ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth, ἔσται will be δεδεμένον bound ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς, heavens; καί and ὅ whatever ἐάν if λύσῃς you might loose ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth, ἔσται will be λελυμένον loosed ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς. heavens. Τότε Then διεστείλατο instructed He τοῖς the μαθηταῖς disciples ἵνα that μηδενί to no one εἴπωσιν they should say ὅτι that αὐτός He ἐστίν is ὁ the Χριστός. Christ.
Ἀπό From τότε that time ἤρξατο began ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus δεικνύειν to show τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him ὅτι that δεῖ it is necessary for αὐτόν Him εἰς to Ἱεροσόλυμα Jerusalem ἀπελθεῖν to go away, καί and πολλά many things παθεῖν to suffer ἀπό from τῶν the πρεσβυτέρων elders καί and ἀρχιερέων chief priests καί and γραμματέων scribes, καί and ἀποκτανθῆναι to be killed, καί and τῇ on the τρίτῃ third ἡμέρᾳ day ἐγερθῆναι. to be raised. Καί And προσλαβόμενος having taken aside αὐτόν Him, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter ἤρξατο began ἐπιτιμᾶν to rebuke αὐτῷ Him, λέγων· saying, Ἵλεως Far be it σοι, from You, Κύριε· Lord; οὐ never, μή not ἔσται will be σοι to You τοῦτο. this. ὁ - δέ And στραφείς having turned εἶπεν He said τῷ - Πέτρῳ· to Peter, Ὕπαγε Get ὀπίσω behind μου, Me, Σατανᾶ· Satan! σκάνδαλον A stumbling block εἶ you are ἐμοῦ, to Me. ὅτι For οὐ not φρονεῖς your thoughts are of τά the things τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, ἀλλά but τά the τῶν things ἀνθρώπων. of men.
Τότε Then ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said τοῖς to μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Εἴ If τὶς anyone θέλει desires ὀπίσω after μου Me ἐλθεῖν, to come, ἀπαρνησάσθω let him deny ἑαυτόν himself, καί and ἀράτω take up τόν the σταυρόν cross αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἀκολουθείτω follow μοι. Me. ὅς Whoever γάρ for ἐάν if θέλῃ might desire τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of him σῶσαι to save, ἀπολέσει will lose αὐτήν· it; ὅς whoever δ ̓ however ἄν - ἀπολέσῃ might lose τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of him ἕνεκεν on account of ἐμοῦ Me, εὑρήσει will find αὐτήν. it. τί What γάρ for ὠφεληθήσεται will it profit ἄνθρωπος a man, ἐάν if τόν the κόσμον world ὅλον whole κερδήσῃ he gains, τήν - δέ but ψυχήν the soul αὐτοῦ of him ζημιωθῇ; loses? ἤ Or τί what δώσει will give ἄνθρωπος a man ἀντάλλαγμα [as] an exchange for τῆς the ψυχῆς soul αὐτοῦ; of him? μέλλει Is about γάρ for ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man ἔρχεσθαι to come ἐν in τῇ the δόξῃ glory τοῦ the Πατρός Father αὐτοῦ of Him, μετά with τῶν the ἀγγέλων angels αὐτοῦ, of Him; καί and τότε then ἀποδώσει He will give ἑκάστῳ to each κατά according to τήν the πρᾶξιν deeds αὐτοῦ. of him. Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι -, εἰσίν there are τινές some τῶν of those ὧδε here ἑστώτων standing οἵτινες who οὐ no μή not γεύσωνται shall taste θανάτου of death ἕως until ἄν - ἴδωσιν they have seen τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐρχόμενον coming ἐν in τῇ the βασιλείᾳ kingdom αὐτοῦ. of Him.
Καί And μεθ ̓ after ἡμέρας days ἕξ six, παραλαμβάνει takes with [Him] ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, τόν - Πέτρον Peter καί and Ἰάκωβον James καί and Ἰωάννην John, τόν the ἀδελφόν brother αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἀναφέρει brings up αὐτούς them εἰς into ὄρος a mountain ὑψηλόν high κατ ̓ by ἰδίαν. themselves. καί And μετεμορφώθη He was transfigured ἔμπροσθεν before αὐτῶν, them, καί and ἔλαμψεν shone τό the πρόσωπον face αὐτοῦ of Him ὡς like ὁ the ἥλιος, sun, τά - δέ and ἱμάτια the clothes αὐτοῦ of Him ἐγένετο became λευκά white ὡς as τό the φῶς. light. Καί And ἰδού behold, ὤφθη appeared αὐτοῖς to them Μωϋσῆς Moses καί and Ἠλίας Elijah, συλλαλοῦντες talking μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ. Him. ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter εἶπεν said τῷ - Ἰησοῦ· to Jesus, Κύριε, Lord, καλόν good ἐστίν it is ἡμᾶς for us ὧδε here εἶναι· to be. εἰ If θέλεις, You wish, ποιήσω I will make ὧδε here τρεῖς three σκηνάς, tabernacles, σοί for You μίαν one, καί and Μωϋσεῖ for Moses μίαν one, καί and Ἠλίᾳ for Elijah μίαν. one. Ἔτι While yet αὐτοῦ he λαλοῦντος was speaking, ἰδού behold, νεφέλη a cloud φωτεινή bright ἐπεσκίασεν overshadowed αὐτούς, them; καί and ἰδού behold, φωνή a voice ἐκ out of τῆς the νεφέλης cloud, λέγουσα· saying, Οὗτος This ἐστίν is ὁ the Υἱός Son μου of Me, ὁ the ἀγαπητός, beloved, ἐν in ᾧ whom εὐδόκησα· I am well pleased. ἀκούετε Listen αὐτοῦ. to Him! καί And ἀκούσαντες having heard [it], οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ἔπεσαν fell ἐπί upon πρόσωπον face αὐτῶν of them καί and ἐφοβήθησαν were terrified σφόδρα. greatly. Καί And προσῆλθεν having come to [them] ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, καί and ἁψάμενος having touched αὐτῶν them, εἶπεν· He said, Ἐγέρθητε Rise up, καί and μή not φοβεῖσθε. be afraid. ἐπάραντες Having lifted up δέ and τούς the ὀφθαλμούς eyes αὐτῶν of them, οὐδένα no one εἶδον they saw εἰ if μή not αὐτόν Himself Ἰησοῦν Jesus μόνον. alone.
Καί And καταβαινόντων [as] were descending αὐτῶν they ἐκ from τοῦ the ὄρους mountain, ἐνετείλατο instructed αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, λέγων· saying, Μηδενί To no one εἴπητε tell τό the ὅραμα vision, ἕως until οὗ that ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐκ out from νεκρῶν [the] dead ἐγερθῇ. is risen. Καί And ἐπηρώτησαν asked αὐτόν Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples, λέγοντες· saying, Τί Why οὖν then οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes λέγουσιν say ὅτι that Ἠλίαν Elijah δεῖ it behooves ἐλθεῖν to come πρῶτον; first? ὁ - δέ And ἀποκριθείς answering, εἶπεν· He said, Ἠλίας Elijah μέν indeed ἔρχεται comes, καί and ἀποκαταστήσει will restore πάντα· all things. λέγω I say δέ however ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that Ἠλίας Elijah ἤδη already ἦλθεν, is come, καί and οὐ not ἐπέγνωσαν they knew αὐτόν him, ἀλλά but ἐποίησαν did ἐν to αὐτῷ him ὅσα whatever ἠθέλησαν· they desired. οὕτως Thus καί also, ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man μέλλει is about πάσχειν to suffer ὑπ ̓ from αὐτῶν. them. τότε Then συνῆκαν understood οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ὅτι that περί concerning Ἰωάννου John τοῦ the Βαπτιστοῦ Baptist εἶπεν He spoke αὐτοῖς. to them.
Καί And ἐλθόντων they having come πρός to τόν the ὄχλον crowd, προσῆλθεν came αὐτῷ to Him ἄνθρωπος a man γονυπετῶν kneeling down to αὐτόν Him καί and λέγων· saying, Κύριε, Lord, ἐλέησον have mercy on μου my τόν - υἱόν, son, ὅτι for σεληνιάζεται he is epileptic καί and κακῶς miserably πάσχει· suffers; πολλάκις often γάρ for πίπτει he falls εἰς into τό the πῦρ fire, καί and πολλάκις often εἰς into τό the ὕδωρ. water. καί And προσήνεγκα I brought αὐτόν him τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples σου, of You, καί and οὐ not ἠδυνήθησαν they were able αὐτόν him θεραπεῦσαι. to heal.
