καί And τούτῳ with this συμφωνοῦσιν agree οἱ the λόγοι words τῶν of the προφητῶν prophets, καθώς as γέγραπται· it is written: Μετά After ταῦτα these things ἀναστρέψω I will return καί and ἀνοικοδομήσω will rebuild τήν the σκηνήν tabernacle Δαυίδ of David τήν which πεπτωκυῖαν has fallen, καί and τά the κατεσκαμμένα ruins αὐτῆς of it ἀνοικοδομήσω I will rebuild, καί and ἀνορθώσω I will set upright αὐτήν, it, ὅπως so that ἄν - ἐκζητήσωσιν may seek out οἱ the κατάλοιποι remnant τῶν - ἀνθρώπων of men τόν the Κύριον Lord, καί and πάντα all τά the ἔθνη Gentiles, ἐφ ̓ upon οὕς whom ἐπικέκληται has been called τό the ὄνομα name μου of Me ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτούς, them, λέγει says Κύριος [the] Lord, ποιῶν doing ταῦτα these things,

Διό Therefore ἐγώ I κρίνω judge μή not παρενοχλεῖν to trouble τοῖς those who, ἀπό from τῶν the ἐθνῶν Gentiles, ἐπιστρέφουσιν are turning ἐπί to τόν - Θεόν, God, ἀλλά but ἐπιστεῖλαι to write αὐτοῖς to them τοῦ - ἀπέχεσθαι to abstain from τῶν the ἀλισγημάτων pollutions τῶν of the εἰδώλων idols, καί and τῆς - πορνείας sexual immorality, καί and τοῦ that πνικτοῦ which is strangled, καί and τοῦ from αἵματος. blood. Μωϋσῆς Moses γάρ for ἐκ from γενεῶν generations ἀρχαίων of old, κατά in every πόλιν city τούς [ones] κηρύσσοντας proclaiming αὐτόν him ἔχει has, ἐν in ταῖς the συναγωγαῖς synagogues κατά on πᾶν every σάββατον Sabbath ἀναγινωσκόμενος. being read.
Τότε Then ἔδοξε it seemed good τοῖς to the ἀποστόλοις apostles καί and τοῖς to the πρεσβυτέροις elders, σύν with ὅλῃ all τῇ the ἐκκλησίᾳ church, ἐκλεξαμένους having chosen ἄνδρας men ἐκ out from αὐτῶν them, πέμψαι to send εἰς to Ἀντιόχειαν Antioch σύν with τῷ - Παύλῳ Paul καί and Βαρνάβᾳ, Barnabas: Ἰούδαν Judas τόν - καλούμενον called Βαρσαββᾶν Barsabbas, καί and Σιλᾶν, Silas, ἄνδρας men ἡγουμένους leading ἐν among τοῖς the ἀδελφοῖς, brothers, γράψαντες having written διά by χειρός [the] hand αὐτῶν· of them:

Ἐπειδή Inasmuch as ἠκούσαμεν we have heard ὅτι that τινές some ἐκ from ἡμῶν us ἐξελθόντες went out ἐτάραξαν troubled ὑμᾶς you λόγοις by words, ἀνασκευάζοντες upsetting τάς the ψυχάς minds ὑμῶν of you, οἷς to whom οὐ not διεστειλάμεθα, we had given instructions, ἔδοξεν it seemed good ἡμῖν to us γενομένοις having come ὁμοθυμαδόν with one accord, ἐκλεξαμένοις having chosen ἄνδρας men, πέμψαι to send πρός to ὑμᾶς you, σύν with τοῖς the ἀγαπητοῖς beloved ἡμῶν of us, Βαρνάβᾳ Barnabas καί and Παύλῳ, Paul, ἀνθρώποις men παραδεδωκόσι having handed over τάς the ψυχάς lives αὐτῶν of them ὑπέρ for τοῦ the ὀνόματος name τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν of us, Ἰησοῦ Jesus Χριστοῦ. Ἔδοξεν It seemed good γάρ for τῷ to the Πνεύματι Spirit τῷ - Ἁγίῳ Holy καί and ἡμῖν to us, μηδέν no πλέον further ἐπιτίθεσθαι to lay ὑμῖν upon you βάρος burden, πλήν except τούτων these τῶν - ἐπάναγκες, necessary things: ἀπέχεσθαι to abstain εἰδωλοθύτων from things sacrificed to idols, καί and αἵματος from blood, καί and πνικτῶν from what is strangled, καί and πορνείας, from sexual immorality. ἐκ From ὧν these διατηροῦντες keeping ἑαυτούς yourselves, εὖ well πράξετε. you will do. Ἔρρωσθε. Farewell.
οἱ They μέν indeed οὖν therefore, ἀπολυθέντες having been sent off, κατῆλθον went εἰς to Ἀντιόχειαν, Antioch, καί and συναγαγόντες having gathered τό the πλῆθος multitude, ἐπέδωκαν they delivered τήν the ἐπιστολήν. letter. ἀναγνόντες Having read [it] δέ now, ἐχάρησαν they rejoiced ἐπί at τῇ the παρακλήσει. encouragement. Ἰούδας Judas τέ both καί and Σιλᾶς Silas, καί also αὐτοί themselves προφῆται prophets ὄντες being, διά by λόγου talk πολλοῦ much παρεκάλεσαν exhorted τούς the ἀδελφούς brothers καί and ἐπεστήριξαν, strengthened [them]. ποιήσαντες Having continued δέ then χρόνον a time, ἀπελύθησαν they were sent away μετ ̓ in εἰρήνης peace ἀπό from τῶν the ἀδελφῶν brothers πρός to τούς those ἀποστείλαντας having sent αὐτούς. them. Παῦλος Paul δέ however καί and Βαρνάβας Barnabas διέτριβον stayed ἐν in Ἀντιοχείᾳ Antioch, διδάσκοντες teaching καί and εὐαγγελιζόμενοι proclaiming the good news, μετά with καί also ἑτέρων others πολλῶν many, τόν the λόγον word τοῦ of the Κυρίου. Lord.
Μετά After δέ now τινάς some ἡμέρας days, εἶπεν said πρός to Βαρνάβαν Barnabas, Παῦλος· Paul, Ἐπιστρέψαντες Having turned back δή indeed ἐπισκεψώμεθα let us look after τούς the ἀδελφούς brothers κατά in πόλιν city πᾶσαν every ἐν in αἷς which κατηγγείλαμεν we have announced τόν the λόγον word τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord, πῶς how ἔχουσιν. they are. Βαρνάβας Barnabas δέ now ἐβούλετο purposed συμπαραλαβεῖν to take along καί also τόν - Ἰωάννην John τόν - καλούμενον called Μάρκον· Mark; Παῦλος Paul δέ however ἠξίου, thought fit, τόν the [one] ἀποστάντα having withdrawn ἀπ ̓ from αὐτῶν them ἀπό from Παμφυλίας Pamphylia καί and μή not συνελθόντα having gone with αὐτοῖς them εἰς to τό the ἔργον work, μή not συμπαραλαμβάνειν to take along τοῦτον. him. Ἐγένετο Arose δέ therefore παροξυσμός a sharp disagreement, ὥστε so that ἀποχωρισθῆναι separated αὐτούς they ἀπ ̓ from ἀλλήλων, one another; τόν - τέ and Βαρνάβαν Barnabas, παραλαβόντα having taken τόν - Μάρκον Mark, ἐκπλεῦσαι sailed εἰς to Κύπρον, Cyprus. Παῦλος Paul δέ however, ἐπιλεξάμενος having chosen Σιλᾶν Silas, ἐξῆλθεν went forth, παραδοθείς having been committed τῇ to the χάριτι grace τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord ὑπό by τῶν the ἀδελφῶν. brothers. διήρχετο He was passing through δέ then τήν - Συρίαν Syria καί and τήν - Κιλικίαν Cilicia, ἐπιστηρίζων strengthening τάς the ἐκκλησίας. churches. Κατήντησεν He came δέ then καί also εἰς to Δέρβην Derbe καί and εἰς to Λύστραν. Lystra. καί And ἰδού behold, μαθητής a disciple τὶς certain ἦν was ἐκεῖ there, ὀνόματι named Τιμόθεος, Timothy, υἱός [the] son γυναικός of a woman Ἰουδαίας Jewish πιστῆς, believing, πατρός father δέ however Ἕλληνος, a Greek, ὅς who ἐμαρτυρεῖτο was well spoken of ὑπό by τῶν the ἐν in Λύστροις Lystra καί and Ἰκονίῳ Iconium ἀδελφῶν. brothers. τοῦτον This one ἠθέλησεν wanted ὁ - Παῦλος Paul σύν with αὐτῷ him ἐξελθεῖν, to go forth, καί and λαβών having taken, περιέτεμεν he circumcised αὐτόν him διά on account of τούς the Ἰουδαίους Jews τούς - ὄντας being ἐν in τοῖς the τόποις parts ἐκείνοις· those; ᾔδεισαν they knew γάρ for ἅπαντες all ὅτι that Ἕλλην a Greek ὁ the πατήρ father αὐτοῦ of him ὑπῆρχεν. was. ὡς While δέ then διεπορεύοντο they were passing through τάς the πόλεις, cities, παρεδίδοσαν they were delivering αὐτοῖς to them φυλάσσειν to keep τά the δόγματα decrees τά - κεκριμένα decided on ὑπό by τῶν the ἀποστόλων apostles καί and πρεσβυτέρων elders τῶν who [were] ἐν in Ἱεροσολύμοις. Jerusalem. αἱ The μέν indeed οὖν therefore ἐκκλησίαι churches ἐστερεοῦντο were strengthened τῇ in the πίστει faith, καί and ἐπερίσσευον were increasing τῷ - ἀριθμῷ in number καθ ̓ every ἡμέραν. day.
Διῆλθον Having passed through δέ then τήν - Φρυγίαν Phrygia καί and Γαλατικήν the Galatian χώραν region, κωλυθέντες having been forbidden ὑπό by τοῦ the Ἁγίου Holy Πνεύματος Spirit λαλῆσαι to speak τόν the λόγον word ἐν in τῇ - Ἀσίᾳ· Asia, ἐλθόντες having come δέ then κατά down to τήν - Μυσίαν Mysia, ἐπείραζον they were attempting εἰς into τήν - Βιθυνίαν Bithynia πορευθῆναι, to go; καί and οὐ not εἴασεν did allow αὐτούς them τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit Ἰησοῦ· of Jesus; παρελθόντες having passed by δέ then τήν - Μυσίαν Mysia, κατέβησαν they came down εἰς to Τρῳάδα. Troas. Καί And ὅραμα a vision διά during τῆς the νυκτός night τῷ - Παύλῳ to Paul ὤφθη, appeared: ἀνήρ A man Μακεδών of Macedonia τὶς certain ἦν was ἑστώς standing καί and παρακαλῶν beseeching αὐτόν him καί and λέγων· saying, Διαβάς Having passed over εἰς into Μακεδονίαν Macedonia, βοήθησον help ἡμῖν. us. ὡς When δέ now τό the ὅραμα vision εἶδεν, he had seen, εὐθέως immediately ἐζητήσαμεν we sought ἐξελθεῖν to go forth εἰς to Μακεδονίαν Macedonia, συμβιβάζοντες concluding ὅτι that προσκέκληται had called ἡμᾶς us ὁ - Θεός God εὐαγγελίσασθαι to preach the gospel αὐτούς. to them.
Ἀναχθέντες Having sailed δέ then ἀπό from Τρῳάδος Troas, εὐθυδρομήσαμεν we made a straight course εἰς to Σαμοθρᾴκην, Samothrace, τῇ - δέ and ἐπιούσῃ the following day, εἰς to Νέαν Nea Πόλιν Polis, κἀκεῖθεν and from there εἰς to Φιλίππους, Philippi, ἥτις which ἐστίν is πρώτη [the] leading μερίδος district τῆς of the Μακεδονίας of Macedonia πόλις, city, κολωνία. a colony. Ἦμεν We were δέ now ἐν in ταύτῃ this τῇ - πόλει city διατρίβοντες staying ἡμέρας days τινάς. some. Τῇ On the τέ then ἡμέρᾳ day τῶν of the σαββάτων Sabbaths, ἐξήλθομεν we went forth ἔξω outside τῆς the πύλης city gate, παρά by ποταμόν a river, οὗ where ἐνομίζομεν was customary προσευχήν [a place of] prayer εἶναι, to be. καί And καθίσαντες having sat down, ἐλαλοῦμεν we began speaking ταῖς to the συνελθούσαις having gathered γυναιξίν. women. Καί And τὶς a certain γυνή woman ὀνόματι named Λυδία, Lydia, πορφυρόπωλις a seller of purple πόλεως of [the] city Θυατείρων of Thyatira, σεβομένη worshiping τόν - Θεόν, God, ἤκουεν, was listening, ἧς of whom ὁ the Κύριος Lord διήνοιξεν opened τήν the καρδίαν heart προσέχειν to attend τοῖς to the things λαλουμένοις being spoken ὑπό by τοῦ - Παύλου. Paul. ὡς When δέ then ἐβαπτίσθη she was baptized, καί and ὁ the οἶκος house αὐτῆς, of her, παρεκάλεσεν she begged, λέγουσα· saying, εἰ If κεκρίκατε you have judged με me πιστήν faithful τῷ to the Κυρίῳ Lord εἶναι, to be, εἰσελθόντες having entered εἰς into τόν the οἶκον house μου of me, μένετε· abide. καί And παρεβιάσατο she persuaded ἡμᾶς. us.
Ἐγένετο It happened δέ now, πορευομένων going ἡμῶν of us εἰς to τήν the προσευχήν [place of] prayer, παιδίσκην a girl τινά certain, ἔχουσαν having πνεῦμα a spirit Πύθωνα of Python, ὑπαντῆσαι met ἡμῖν, us, ἥτις who ἐργασίαν gain πολλήν much παρεῖχεν was bringing τοῖς the κυρίοις masters αὐτῆς of her μαντευομένη. by fortune-telling. αὕτη She, κατακολουθοῦσα having followed τῷ - Παύλῳ Paul καί and ἡμῖν us, ἔκραζεν was crying out, λέγουσα· saying, Οὗτοι These οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men δοῦλοι servants τοῦ of the Θεοῦ God τοῦ - Ὑψίστου Most High εἰσίν, are, οἵτινες who καταγγέλλουσιν proclaim ὑμῖν to you ὁδόν [the] way σωτηρίας. of salvation. Τοῦτο This δέ then ἐποίει she continued ἐπί for πολλάς many ἡμέρας. days. διαπονηθείς Having been distressed δέ then Παῦλος Paul, καί and ἐπιστρέψας having turned τῷ to the πνεύματι spirit, εἶπεν· he said, Παραγγέλλω I command σοι you ἐν in ὀνόματι [the] name Ἰησοῦ of Jesus Χριστοῦ Christ ἐξελθεῖν to come out ἀπ ̓ from αὐτῆς· her. καί And ἐξῆλθεν it came out αὐτῇ [the] same τῇ - ὥρᾳ. hour. Ἰδόντες Having seen δέ now οἱ the κύριοι masters αὐτῆς of her ὅτι that ἐξῆλθεν was gone ἡ the ἐλπίς hope τῆς of the ἐργασίας profit αὐτῶν, of them, ἐπιλαβόμενοι having taken hold of τόν - Παῦλον Paul καί and τόν - Σιλᾶν Silas, εἵλκυσαν they dragged [them] εἰς into τήν the ἀγοράν marketplace ἐπί before τούς the ἄρχοντας rulers; καί and προσαγαγόντες having brought up αὐτούς them τοῖς to the στρατηγοῖς magistrates, εἶπαν· they said, Οὗτοι These οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men ἐκταράσσουσιν exceedingly trouble ἡμῶν of us τήν the πόλιν, city, Ἰουδαῖοι Jews ὑπάρχοντες, being, καί and καταγγέλλουσιν preach ἔθη customs, ἅ that οὐ not ἔξεστιν it is lawful ἡμῖν for us παραδέχεσθαι to accept οὐδέ nor ποιεῖν to practice, Ῥωμαίοις Romans οὖσιν. being. Καί And συνεπέστη rose up together ὁ the ὄχλος crowd κατ ̓ against αὐτῶν them, καί and οἱ the στρατηγοί magistrates περιρήξαντες having torn off αὐτῶν of them τά the ἱμάτια garments, ἐκέλευον were commanding that ῥαβδίζειν, they be beaten with rods. πολλάς Many τέ then ἐπιθέντες having laid αὐτοῖς on them πληγάς blows, ἔβαλον they cast [them] εἰς into φυλακήν prison, παραγγείλαντες having charged τῷ the δεσμοφύλακι jailer ἀσφαλῶς securely τηρεῖν to keep αὐτούς. them, ὅς who παραγγελίαν an order τοιαύτην such λαβών having received, ἔβαλεν threw αὐτούς them εἰς into τήν the ἐσωτέραν inner φυλακήν prison, καί and τούς the πόδας feet ἠσφαλίσατο fastened αὐτῶν of them εἰς in τό the ξύλον. stocks. Κατά Toward δέ now τό - μεσονύκτιον midnight, Παῦλος Paul καί and Σιλᾶς Silas, προσευχόμενοι praying, ὕμνουν were singing praises to τόν - Θεόν, God. ἐπηκροῶντο Were listening δέ now αὐτῶν to them οἱ the δέσμιοι. prisoners. ἄφνω Suddenly δέ then σεισμός earthquake ἐγένετο there was μέγας a great, ὥστε so that σαλευθῆναι were shaken τά the θεμέλια foundations τοῦ of the δεσμωτηρίου· prison house; ἠνεῴχθησαν were opened δέ then παραχρῆμα immediately αἱ the θύραι doors πᾶσαι all, καί and πάντων of all, τά the δεσμά chains ἀνέθη. were loosed. Ἔξυπνος Awoken δέ then γενόμενος having been ὁ the δεσμοφύλαξ jailer, καί and ἰδών having seen ἀνεῳγμένας open τάς the θύρας doors τῆς of the φυλακῆς, prison, σπασάμενος having drawn τήν his μάχαιραν sword, ἤμελλεν he was about ἑαυτόν himself ἀναιρεῖν to kill, νομίζων supposing ἐκπεφευγέναι to have escaped τούς the δεσμίους. prisoners. ἐφώνησεν Called out δέ however ὁ - Παῦλος Paul μεγάλῃ loud φωνῇ in a voice, λέγων· saying, Μηδέν Not πράξῃς do σεαυτῷ to yourself κακόν, harm; ἅπαντες all γάρ for ἐσμέν we are ἐνθάδε. here. Αἰτήσας Having called for δέ now φῶτα lights, εἰσεπήδησεν he rushed in, καί and ἔντρομος terrified γενόμενος having become, προσέπεσεν he fell down before τῷ - Παύλῳ Paul καί and τῷ - Σιλᾷ Silas. καί And προαγαγών having brought αὐτούς them ἔξω out ἔφη· he was saying, Κύριοι, Sirs, τί what με of me δεῖ is necessary ποιεῖν to do, ἵνα that σωθῶ; I may be saved? οἱ - δέ And εἶπαν· they said, Πίστευσον Believe ἐπί on τόν the Κύριον Lord Ἰησοῦν Jesus, καί and σωθήσῃ you will be saved, σύ you καί and ὁ the οἶκος household σου. of you. καί And ἐλάλησαν they spoke αὐτῷ to him τόν the λόγον word τοῦ of the κυρίου Lord, σύν along with πᾶσιν all τοῖς those ἐν in τῇ the οἰκίᾳ house αὐτοῦ. of him. καί And παραλαβών having taken αὐτούς them ἐν in ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ὥρᾳ hour τῆς of the νυκτός night, ἔλουσεν he washed [them] ἀπό from τῶν the πληγῶν, wounds; καί and ἐβαπτίσθη he was baptized, αὐτός he καί and οἱ the [household] αὐτοῦ of him πάντες all παραχρῆμα, immediately. ἀναγαγών Having brought τέ then αὐτούς them εἰς into τόν the οἶκον house, παρέθηκεν he laid τράπεζαν a table [for them], καί and ἠγαλλιάσατο rejoiced πανοικεί with all [his] household, πεπιστευκώς having believed τῷ - Θεῷ. in God.
