Παραγενόμενος Having arrived δέ then εἰς in Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem, ἐπείραζεν he was attempting κολλᾶσθαι to join τοῖς the μαθηταῖς, disciples. καί And πάντες all ἐφοβοῦντο were afraid of αὐτόν him, μή not πιστεύοντες believing ὅτι that ἐστίν he is μαθητής. a disciple. ἡ The μέν indeed οὖν then ἐκκλησία church καθ ̓ throughout ὅλης all τῆς - Ἰουδαίας of Judea, καί and Γαλιλαίας Galilee, καί and Σαμαρείας Samaria, εἶχεν had εἰρήνην peace, οἰκοδομουμένη being edified καί and πορευομένη going on τῷ in the φόβῳ fear τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord; καί and τῇ in the παρακλήσει comfort τοῦ of the Ἁγίου Holy Πνεύματος Spirit ἐπληθύνετο. they were multiplied.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass that δέ now Πέτρον Peter, διερχόμενον passing διά through πάντων all [quarters], κατελθεῖν went down καί also πρός to τούς the ἁγίους saints τούς - κατοικοῦντας inhabiting Λύδδα. Lydda. εὗρεν He found δέ then ἐκεῖ there ἄνθρωπον a man τινά certain, ὀνόματι named Αἰνέαν Aeneas, ἐκ for ἐτῶν years ὀκτώ eight κατακείμενον lying ἐπί on κραβάττου, a bed, ὅς who ἦν was παραλελυμένος. paralyzed. καί And εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Πέτρος· Peter, Αἰνέα, Aeneas, ἰᾶται heals σε you Ἰησοῦς Jesus Χριστός· Christ; ἀνάστηθι rise up, καί and στρῶσον make the bed σεαυτῷ. for yourself. καί And εὐθέως immediately ἀνέστη. he rose up. καί And εἶδαν saw αὐτόν him πάντες all οἱ those κατοικοῦντες inhabiting Λύδδα Lydda καί and τόν - Σαρῶνα, Sharon, οἵτινες who ἐπέστρεψαν turned ἐπί to τόν the Κύριον. ἐν In Ἰόππῃ Joppa δέ now τὶς certain ἦν there was μαθήτρια a disciple ὀνόματι named Ταβιθά, Tabitha, ἥ which διερμηνευομένη translated λέγεται is called Δορκάς· Dorcas. αὕτη She ἦν was πλήρης full of ἔργων works ἀγαθῶν good, καί and ἐλεημοσυνῶν of alms ὧν that ἐποίει. she continually did. ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ however, ἐν in ταῖς the ἡμέραις days ἐκείναις those, ἀσθενήσασαν [that] having become sick, αὐτήν she ἀποθανεῖν· died. λούσαντες Having washed [her] δέ then, ἔθηκαν put [her] αὐτήν they ἐν in ὑπερῴῳ. an upper room. ἐγγύς Near δέ now οὔσης being Λύδδας Lydda τῇ - Ἰόππῃ Joppa, οἱ the μαθηταί disciples, ἀκούσαντες having heard ὅτι that Πέτρος Peter ἐστίν is ἐν in αὐτῇ it, ἀπέστειλαν sent δύο two ἄνδρας men πρός to αὐτόν him, παρακαλοῦντες· imploring , Μή Not ὀκνήσῃς to delay διελθεῖν coming ἕως to ἡμῶν. us. Ἀναστάς Having risen up δέ then, Πέτρος Peter συνῆλθεν went with αὐτοῖς· them, ὅν who παραγενόμενον having arrived, ἀνήγαγον brought [him] εἰς into τό the ὑπερῷον upper room. καί And παρέστησαν stood by αὐτῷ him πᾶσαι all αἱ the χῆραι widows, κλαίουσαι weeping καί and ἐπιδεικνύμεναι showing χιτῶνας [the] tunics καί and ἱμάτια garments ὅσα that ἐποίει had made, μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them οὖσα being, ἡ - Δορκάς. Ἐκβαλών Having put δέ then ἔξω outside πάντας all ὁ - Πέτρος Peter, καί and θείς having bowed τά the γόνατα knees, προσηύξατο he prayed. καί And ἐπιστρέψας having turned πρός to τό the σῶμα body εἶπεν· he said, Ταβιθά, Tabitha, ἀνάστηθι. arise! ἡ - δέ And ἤνοιξεν she opened τούς the ὀφθαλμούς eyes αὐτῆς, of her, καί and ἰδοῦσα having seen τόν - Πέτρον Peter, ἀνεκάθισεν. she sat up. δούς Having given δέ then αὐτῇ her χεῖρα [his] hand, ἀνέστησεν he raised up αὐτήν· her. φωνήσας Having called δέ then τούς the ἁγίους saints καί and τάς the χήρας widows, παρέστησεν he presented αὐτήν her ζῶσαν. living. Γνωστόν Known δέ then ἐγένετο it became καθ ̓ throughout ὅλης all τῆς - Ἰόππης of Joppa, καί and ἐπίστευσαν believed πολλοί many ἐπί on τόν the Κύριον. Lord. Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then, ἡμέρας days ἱκανάς many μεῖναι he stayed ἐν in Ἰόππῃ Joppa παρά with τινί a certain Σίμωνι Simon, βυρσεῖ. a tanner.
Ἀνήρ A man δέ now τὶς certain ἐν in Καισαρείᾳ Caesarea, ὀνόματι named Κορνήλιος, Cornelius, ἑκατοντάρχης [was] a centurion ἐκ of σπείρης [the] Cohort τῆς that καλουμένης is called Ἰταλικῆς, Italian, εὐσεβής devout καί and φοβούμενος fearing τόν - Θεόν God σύν with παντί all τῷ the οἴκῳ household αὐτοῦ, of him, ποιῶν doing ἐλεημοσύνας alms πολλάς many τῷ to the λαῷ people, καί and δεόμενος praying τοῦ to Θεοῦ God διά continually παντός, all. εἶδεν He saw ἐν in ὁράματι a vision φανερῶς clearly, ὡσεί as if περί about ὥραν hour ἐνάτην the ninth τῆς of the ἡμέρας day, ἄγγελον an angel τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God εἰσελθόντα having come πρός to αὐτόν him καί and εἰπόντα having said αὐτῷ· to him, Κορνήλιε. Cornelius! ὁ - δέ And ἀτενίσας having looked intently αὐτῷ on him, καί and ἔμφοβος afraid γενόμενος having become, εἶπεν· he said, Τί What ἐστίν, is it, Κύριε; Lord? Εἶπεν He said δέ then αὐτῷ· to him, αἱ The προσευχαί prayers σου of You καί and αἱ the ἐλεημοσύναι alms σου of you ἀνέβησαν have ascended εἰς as μνημόσυνον a memorial ἔμπροσθεν before τοῦ - Θεοῦ. God. καί And νῦν now πέμψον send ἄνδρας men εἰς to Ἰόππην Joppa καί and μετάπεμψαι summon Σίμωνα Simon, τινά a man ὅς who ἐπικαλεῖται is called Πέτρος· Peter. οὗτος He ξενίζεται lodges παρά with τινί a certain Σίμωνι Simon βυρσεῖ, a tanner, ᾧ whose ἐστίν is οἰκία [the] house παρά by θάλασσαν. [the] sea.” ὡς When δέ then ἀπῆλθεν had departed ὁ the ἄγγελος angel ὁ - λαλῶν speaking αὐτῷ, to him, φωνήσας having called δύο two τῶν of the οἰκετῶν servants καί and στρατιώτην a soldier εὐσεβῆ devout τῶν of those who προσκαρτερούντων are attending αὐτῷ him, καί and ἐξηγησάμενος having related ἅπαντα all things αὐτοῖς to them, ἀπέστειλεν he sent αὐτούς them εἰς to τήν - Ἰόππην. Joppa. Τῇ On the δέ now ἐπαύριον, next day, ὁδοιπορούντων as are journeying ἐκείνων these καί and τῇ the πόλει city ἐγγιζόντων, approaching, ἀνέβη went up Πέτρος Peter ἐπί on τό the δῶμα housetop προσεύξασθαι to pray, περί about ὥραν hour ἕκτην. the sixth. ἐγένετο He became δέ then πρόσπεινος hungry καί and ἤθελεν desired γεύσασθαι. to eat; παρασκευαζόντων [as] were preparing δέ however αὐτῶν they, ἐγένετο fell ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτόν him ἔκστασις a trance, καί and θεωρεῖ he beholds τόν - οὐρανόν heaven ἀνεῳγμένον opening, καί and καταβαῖνον descending σκεῦος a vessel τὶ certain, ὡς as ὀθόνην a sheet μεγάλην great, τέσσαρσιν by four ἀρχαῖς corners καθιέμενον being let down ἐπί upon τῆς the γῆς, earth, ἐν in ᾧ which ὑπῆρχεν were πάντα all τά the τετράποδα quadrupeds, καί and ἑρπετά creeping things τῆς of the γῆς earth, καί and πετεινά birds τοῦ of οὐρανοῦ. heaven. καί And ἐγένετο came φωνή a voice πρός to αὐτόν· him: Ἀναστάς, Having risen up, Πέτρε, Peter, θῦσον kill καί and φάγε. eat! ὁ - δέ And Πέτρος Peter εἶπεν· said, Μηδαμῶς, In no way, Κύριε, Lord; ὅτι for οὐδέποτε never ἔφαγον have I eaten πᾶν anything κοινόν common καί or ἀκάθαρτον. unclean. Καί And φωνή a voice πάλιν [came] again ἐκ for δευτέρου the second time πρός to αὐτόν· him: Ἅ What ὁ - Θεός God ἐκαθάρισεν, has cleansed, σύ you μή not κοίνου. call common. Τοῦτο This δέ now ἐγένετο took place ἐπί for τρίς three times, καί and εὐθύς immediately ἀνελήμφθη was taken up τό the σκεῦος vessel εἰς into τόν - οὐρανόν. heaven. ὡς While δέ then ἐν in ἑαυτῷ himself διηπόρει was perplexed ὁ - Πέτρος Peter τί what ἄν - εἴη might be τό the ὅραμα vision ὅ that εἶδεν, he had seen, ἰδού behold, οἱ the ἄνδρες men οἱ - ἀπεσταλμένοι having been sent ὑπό from τοῦ - Κορνηλίου Cornelius, διερωτήσαντες having inquired for τήν the οἰκίαν house τοῦ - Σίμωνος of Simon, ἐπέστησαν stood ἐπί at τόν the πυλῶνα, gate. καί And φωνήσαντες having called out, ἐπυνθάνοντο they were asking εἰ if Σίμων Simon ὁ who [is] ἐπικαλούμενος called Πέτρος Peter ἐνθάδε here ξενίζεται. is lodged. Τοῦ - δέ And Πέτρου of Peter διενθυμουμένου thinking περί over τοῦ the ὁράματος vision, εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him τό the Πνεῦμα· Spirit, Ἰδού Behold, ἄνδρες men τρεῖς three ζητοῦντες are seeking σε, you. ἀλλά But ἀναστάς having risen, κατάβηθι go down καί and πορεύου proceed σύν with αὐτοῖς them, μηδέν nothing διακρινόμενος doubting, ὅτι because ἐγώ I ἀπέσταλκα have sent αὐτούς. them. Καταβάς Having gone down δέ then Πέτρος Peter πρός to τούς the ἄνδρας men, εἶπεν· he said, Ἰδού Behold, ἐγώ I εἰμί am ὅν whom ζητεῖτε· you seek; τίς what [is] ἡ the αἰτία cause δι ̓ for ἥν which πάρεστε; you are here? οἱ - δέ And εἶπαν· they said, Κορνήλιος Cornelius ἑκατοντάρχης, a centurion, ἀνήρ a man δίκαιος righteous καί and φοβούμενος fearing τόν - Θεόν, God, μαρτυρούμενος being well testified to τέ then ὑπό by ὅλου all τοῦ the ἔθνους nation τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων, Jews, ἐχρηματίσθη was divinely instructed ὑπό by ἀγγέλου an angel ἁγίου holy μεταπέμψασθαι to send for σε you εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἀκοῦσαι to hear ῥήματα a message παρά from σοῦ. you. Εἰσκαλεσάμενος Having called in οὖν therefore αὐτούς them ἐξένισεν. he lodged [them]. Τῇ On the δέ now ἐπαύριον next day ἀναστάς having risen up, ἐξῆλθεν he went forth σύν with αὐτοῖς them, καί and τινές some τῶν of the ἀδελφῶν brothers τῶν those ἀπό from Ἰόππης Joppa συνῆλθον went with αὐτῷ. him. Τῇ On the δέ now ἐπαύριον next day, εἰσῆλθεν he entered εἰς into τήν - Καισάρειαν. Caesarea, ὁ - δέ and Κορνήλιος Cornelius ἦν was προσδοκῶν expecting αὐτούς them, συνκαλεσάμενος having called together τούς the συγγενεῖς relatives αὐτοῦ of him καί and τούς - ἀναγκαίους close φίλους. friends. ὡς As δέ then ἐγένετο was τοῦ - εἰσελθεῖν entering τόν - Πέτρον, Peter, συναντήσας having met αὐτῷ him ὁ - Κορνήλιος Cornelius, πεσών having fallen ἐπί at τούς the πόδας feet, προσεκύνησεν. worshiped [him]. ὁ - δέ But Πέτρος Peter ἤγειρεν lifted up αὐτόν him, λέγων· saying, Ἀνάστηθι· Rise up, καί also ἐγώ I αὐτός myself ἄνθρωπος a man εἰμί. am. Καί And συνομιλῶν talking with αὐτῷ him, εἰσῆλθεν he entered, καί and εὑρίσκει he finds συνεληλυθότας having gathered together πολλούς, many. ἔφη He was saying τέ then πρός to αὐτούς· them, Ὑμεῖς You ἐπίστασθε know ὡς how ἀθέμιτον unlawful ἐστίν it is ἀνδρί for a man Ἰουδαίῳ a Jew κολλᾶσθαι to unite himself ἤ or προσέρχεσθαι to come near ἀλλοφύλῳ· to a foreigner. κἀμοί To me ὁ however Θεός God ἔδειξεν has shown, μηδένα not κοινόν common ἤ or ἀκάθαρτον unclean λέγειν to call ἄνθρωπον· man. διό Therefore καί also ἀναντιρρήτως without objection ἦλθον I came, μεταπεμφθείς. having been summoned. πυνθάνομαι I inquire οὖν therefore, Τίνι for what λόγῳ reason μετεπέμψασθε did you summon με; me? Καί And ὁ - Κορνήλιος Cornelius ἔφη· was saying, Ἀπό Ago τετάρτης four ἡμέρας days, μέχρι until ταύτης this τῆς the ὥρας hour, ἤμην I was τήν at the ἐνάτην ninth hour προσευχόμενος praying ἐν in τῷ the οἴκῳ house μου, of me; καί and ἰδού behold, ἀνήρ a man ἔστη stood ἐνώπιον before μου me ἐν in ἐσθῆτι apparel λαμπρᾷ bright, καί and φησίν· said, Κορνήλιε, Cornelius, εἰσηκούσθη has been heard σου your ἡ - προσευχή prayer, καί and αἱ the ἐλεημοσύναι alms σου of you ἐμνήσθησαν have been remembered ἐνώπιον before τοῦ - Θεοῦ. God. πέμψον Send οὖν therefore εἰς to Ἰόππην Joppa καί and μετακάλεσαι call for Σίμωνα Simon, ὅς who ἐπικαλεῖται is called Πέτρος, Peter; οὗτος He ξενίζεται lodges ἐν in οἰκίᾳ [the] house Σίμωνος of Simon, βυρσέως a tanner παρά by θάλασσαν. Ἐξαυτῆς At once οὖν therefore ἔπεμψα I sent πρός to σέ, you; σύ you τέ then καλῶς well ἐποίησας did, παραγενόμενος. having come. νῦν Now οὖν therefore, πάντες all ἡμεῖς we ἐνώπιον before τοῦ - Θεοῦ God πάρεσμεν are present ἀκοῦσαι to hear πάντα all τά the things προστεταγμένα having been commanded σοι you ὑπό by τοῦ the Κυρίου. Ἀνοίξας Having opened δέ then Πέτρος Peter τό the στόμα mouth, εἶπεν· he said, Ἐπ ̓ Of ἀληθείας a truth καταλαμβάνομαι I understand ὅτι that οὐ not ἔστιν is προσωπολήμπτης One who shows partiality ὁ - Θεός, God, ἀλλ ̓ but ἐν in παντί every ἔθνει nation, ὁ the [one] φοβούμενος fearing αὐτόν Him καί and ἐργαζόμενος working δικαιοσύνην righteousness, δεκτός acceptable αὐτῷ to Him ἐστίν. is, τόν the λόγον word ὅν that ἀπέστειλεν He sent τοῖς to the υἱοῖς sons Ἰσραήλ of Israel, εὐαγγελιζόμενος proclaiming the gospel, εἰρήνην peace διά by Ἰησοῦ Jesus Χριστοῦ, Christ — οὗτος He ἐστίν is πάντων of all Κύριος, Lord. Ὑμεῖς You yourselves οἴδατε know τό the γενόμενον having come ῥῆμα declaration καθ ̓ through ὅλης all τῆς - Ἰουδαίας, Judea, ἀρξάμενος having begun ἀπό from τῆς - Γαλιλαίας Galilee, μετά after τό the βάπτισμα baptism ὅ that ἐκήρυξεν proclaimed Ἰωάννης, John: Ἰησοῦν Jesus τόν - ἀπό from Ναζαρέθ, Nazareth, ὡς how ἔχρισεν anointed αὐτόν Him ὁ - Θεός God Πνεύματι Spirit Ἁγίῳ with Holy καί and δυνάμει, with power, ὅς who διῆλθεν went about εὐεργετῶν doing good καί and ἰώμενος healing πάντας all τούς those καταδυναστευομένους being oppressed ὑπό by τοῦ the διαβόλου, devil, ὅτι because ὁ - Θεός God ἦν was μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ.
