Εἶπεν He said δέ then πρός to αὐτούς· them, οὐχ Not ὑμῶν yours ἐστίν it is γνῶναι to know χρόνους times ἤ or καιρούς seasons οὕς which ὁ the Πατήρ Father ἔθετο put in place ἐν by τῇ - ἰδίᾳ His own ἐξουσίᾳ, authority. ἀλλά But λήμψεσθε you will receive δύναμιν power, ἐπελθόντος having come τοῦ the Ἁγίου Holy Πνεύματος Spirit ἐφ ̓ upon ὑμᾶς you, καί and ἔσεσθε you will be μου for Me μάρτυρες witnesses, ἔν in τέ both Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem, καί and ἐν in πάσῃ all τῇ - Ἰουδαίᾳ Judea, καί and Σαμαρείᾳ Samaria, καί and ἕως to ἐσχάτου [the] uttermost part τῆς of the γῆς. earth.
Καί And ταῦτα these things εἰπών having said, βλεπόντων beholding αὐτῶν they, ἐπήρθη He was taken up, καί and νεφέλη a cloud ὑπέλαβεν hid αὐτόν Him ἀπό from τῶν the ὀφθαλμῶν eyes αὐτῶν. of them. καί And ὡς as ἀτενίζοντες looking intently ἦσαν they were εἰς into τόν the οὐρανόν heaven πορευομένου as was going αὐτοῦ, He, καί then ἰδού behold ἄνδρες men δύο two παρειστήκεισαν stood by αὐτοῖς them ἐν in ἐσθήσεσι apparel λευκαῖς, white, οἵ who καί also εἶπαν· said, Ἄνδρες Men, Γαλιλαῖοι, Galileans, τί why ἑστήκατε do you stand βλέποντες looking εἰς into τόν - οὐρανόν; heaven? οὗτος This ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, ὁ - ἀναλημφθείς having been taken up ἀφ ̓ from ὑμῶν you εἰς into τόν - οὐρανόν heaven, οὕτως thus ἐλεύσεται will come ὅν in that τρόπον manner ἐθεάσασθε you beheld αὐτόν Him πορευόμενον going εἰς into τόν - οὐρανόν. heaven.
Τότε Then ὑπέστρεψαν they returned εἰς to Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem ἀπό from ὄρους [the] mount τοῦ - καλουμένου called Ἐλαιῶνος, Olivet, ὅ which ἐστίν is ἐγγύς near Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem, σαββάτου a Sabbath day’s ἔχον holding ὁδόν. journey. καί And ὅτε when εἰσῆλθον, they had entered εἰς into τό the ὑπερῷον upper room, ἀνέβησαν they went up οὗ where ἦσαν they were καταμένοντες, staying, ὅ - τέ both Πέτρος Peter καί and Ἰωάννης John, καί and Ἰάκωβος James καί and Ἀνδρέας, Andrew, Φίλιππος Philip καί and Θωμᾶς, Thomas, Βαρθολομαῖος Bartholomew καί and Μαθθαῖος, Matthew, Ἰάκωβος James [son] Ἁλφαίου of Alphaeus, καί and Σίμων Simon ὁ the Ζηλωτής Zealot, καί and Ἰούδας Judas [son] Ἰακώβου. of James. οὗτοι These πάντες all ἦσαν were προσκαρτεροῦντες steadfastly continuing ὁμοθυμαδόν with one accord τῇ - προσευχῇ in prayer, σύν with [the] γυναιξίν women, καί and Μαριάμ Mary τῇ the μητρί mother τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ of Jesus, καί and τοῖς the ἀδελφοῖς brothers αὐτοῦ. of Him.
Καί And ἐν in ταῖς the ἡμέραις days ταύταις these, ἀναστάς having stood up Πέτρος Peter ἐν in μέσῳ [the] midst τῶν of the ἀδελφῶν brothers, εἶπεν· he said — ἦν was τέ then ὄχλος [the] number ὀνομάτων of names ἐπί together τό the αὐτό same ὡσεί about ἑκατόν a hundred εἴκοσι· twenty — Ἄνδρες Men, ἀδελφοί, brothers, ἔδει it was necessary for πληρωθῆναι to have been fulfilled τήν the γραφήν Scripture ἥν which προεῖπεν spoke beforehand τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit τό - Ἅγιον Holy διά by στόματος [the] mouth Δαυίδ of David περί concerning Ἰούδα Judas, τοῦ the [one] γενομένου having become ὁδηγοῦ guide τοῖς to those συλλαβοῦσιν having arrested Ἰησοῦν, Jesus; ὅτι for κατηριθμημένος numbered ἦν he was ἐν with ἡμῖν us, καί and ἔλαχεν was allotted τόν - κλῆρον a share τῆς of the διακονίας ministry ταύτης. this. Οὗτος This [man] μέν indeed οὖν then ἐκτήσατο acquired χωρίον a field ἐκ out of μισθοῦ [the] reward τῆς - ἀδικίας of unrighteousness, καί and πρηνής headlong γενόμενος having fallen, ἐλάκησεν he burst open μέσος in [the] middle, καί and ἐξεχύθη gushed out πάντα all τά the σπλάγχνα intestines αὐτοῦ· of him. καί And γνωστόν known ἐγένετο it became πᾶσι to all τοῖς those κατοικοῦσιν dwelling Ἰερουσαλήμ, in Jerusalem, ὥστε so that κληθῆναι was called τό the χωρίον field ἐκεῖνο that τῇ in the ἰδίᾳ own διαλέκτῳ language αὐτῶν of them Ἁκελδαμάχ, Akeldama, τοῦτ ̓ that ἔστιν is, Χωρίον Field αἵματος. of Blood. Γέγραπται It has been written γάρ for ἐν in [the] βίβλῳ book Ψαλμῶν· of Psalms: Γενηθήτω Let become ἡ the ἔπαυλις homestead αὐτοῦ of him ἔρημος desolate, καί and μή not ἔστω let there be ὁ [one person] κατοικῶν dwelling ἐν in αὐτῇ, it,’

Δεῖ It behooves οὖν therefore τῶν the συνελθόντων having accompanied ἡμῖν us ἀνδρῶν men, ἐν during παντί all χρόνῳ [the] time ᾧ that εἰσῆλθεν came in καί and ἐξῆλθεν went out ἐφ ̓ among ἡμᾶς us ὁ the Κύριος Lord Ἰησοῦς, Jesus, ἀρξάμενος having begun ἀπό from τοῦ the βαπτίσματος baptism Ἰωάννου of John ἕως until τῆς the ἡμέρας day ἧς in which ἀνελήμφθη He was taken up ἀφ ̓ from ἡμῶν, us, μάρτυρα a witness τῆς of the ἀναστάσεως resurrection αὐτοῦ of Him σύν with ἡμῖν us γενέσθαι to become ἕνα one τούτων. of these. Καί And ἔστησαν they put forward δύο, two, Ἰωσήφ Joseph τόν - καλούμενον called Βαρσαββᾶν Barsabbas, ὅς who ἐπεκλήθη was called Ἰοῦστος, Justus, καί and Μαθθίαν. Matthias. καί And προσευξάμενοι having prayed, εἶπαν· they said, Σύ You Κύριε Lord, καρδιογνῶστα knower of the hearts πάντων, of all, ἀνάδειξον show ὅν which ἐξελέξω You have chosen ἐκ of τούτων these τῶν - δύο two, ἕνα one λαβεῖν to take τόν the τόπον place τῆς of the διακονίας ministry ταύτης this καί and ἀποστολῆς apostleship, ἀφ ̓ from ἧς which παρέβη turned aside Ἰούδας Judas πορευθῆναι to go εἰς to τόν the τόπον place τόν - ἴδιον. own. καί And ἔδωκαν they gave κλήρους lots αὐτοῖς for them, καί and ἔπεσεν fell ὁ the κλῆρος lot ἐπί on Μαθθίαν Matthias, καί and συνκατεψηφίσθη he was numbered μετά with τῶν the ἕνδεκα eleven ἀποστόλων. apostles.
Καί And ἐν during τῷ the συμπληροῦσθαι arriving of τήν the ἡμέραν day τῆς - Πεντηκοστῆς of Pentecost, ἦσαν they were πάντες all ὁμοῦ together ἐπί in τό the αὐτό. one [place]. καί And ἐγένετο came ἄφνω suddenly ἐκ out of τοῦ - οὐρανοῦ heaven ἦχος a sound, ὥσπερ like φερομένης [the] rushing πνοῆς of a wind βιαίας violent, καί and ἐπλήρωσεν it filled ὅλον all τόν the οἶκον house οὗ where ἦσαν they were καθήμενοι sitting. καί And ὤφθησαν there appeared αὐτοῖς to them διαμεριζόμεναι dividing γλῶσσαι tongues ὡσεί as πυρός of fire καί and ἐκάθισεν sat ἐφ ̓ upon ἕνα one ἕκαστον each αὐτῶν, of them. καί And ἐπλήσθησαν they were filled with πάντες all Πνεύματος Spirit Ἁγίου Holy, καί and ἤρξαντο began λαλεῖν to speak ἑτέραις in other γλώσσαις tongues καθώς as τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit ἐδίδου was giving ἀποφθέγγεσθαι to utter forth αὐτοῖς. to them.
Ἦσαν Were δέ now εἰς in Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem κατοικοῦντες dwelling Ἰουδαῖοι, Jews, ἄνδρες men εὐλαβεῖς devout ἀπό from παντός every ἔθνους nation τῶν of those ὑπό under τόν - οὐρανόν. heaven. γενομένης Having come about δέ now τῆς the φωνῆς sound ταύτης of this, συνῆλθεν came together τό the πλῆθος multitude καί and συνεχύθη, was confounded, ὅτι because ἤκουον was hearing εἷς one ἕκαστος each τῇ the ἰδίᾳ own διαλέκτῳ language λαλούντων speaking αὐτῶν. them. Σταθείς Having stood up δέ however ὁ - Πέτρος Peter σύν with τοῖς the ἕνδεκα eleven, ἐπῆρεν he lifted up τήν the φωνήν voice αὐτοῦ of him καί and ἀπεφθέγξατο spoke forth αὐτοῖς· to them: Ἄνδρες Men Ἰουδαῖοι of Judea καί and οἱ those κατοικοῦντες inhabiting Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem πάντες, all, τοῦτο this ὑμῖν to you γνωστόν known ἔστω let be, καί and ἐνωτίσασθε give heed to τά the ῥήματα words μου. of me. οὐ Not γάρ for ὡς as ὑμεῖς you ὑπολαμβάνετε suppose, οὗτοι these μεθύουσιν, are drunkards; ἔστιν it is γάρ for ὥρα [the] hour τρίτη third τῆς of the ἡμέρας, day; ἀλλά but τοῦτο this ἐστίν is τό that εἰρημένον having been spoken διά by τοῦ the προφήτου prophet Ἰωήλ· Joel: Καί And ἔσται it will be ἐν in ταῖς the ἐσχάταις last ἡμέραις, days, λέγει says ὁ - Θεός, God, ἐκχεῶ I will pour out ἀπό of τοῦ the Πνεύματος Spirit μου of Me ἐπί upon πᾶσαν all σάρκα, flesh; καί and προφητεύσουσιν will prophesy οἱ the υἱοί sons ὑμῶν of you, καί and αἱ the θυγατέρες daughters ὑμῶν of you; καί and οἱ the νεανίσκοι young men ὑμῶν of you ὁράσεις visions ὄψονται will see, καί and οἱ the πρεσβύτεροι elders ὑμῶν of you ἐνυπνίοις dreams ἐνυπνιασθήσονται· will dream; καί and γέ even ἐπί upon τούς the δούλους servants μου of Me, καί and ἐπί upon τάς the δούλας handmaidens μου of Me, ἐν in ταῖς the ἡμέραις days ἐκείναις those ἐκχεῶ I will pour out ἀπό of τοῦ the Πνεύματος Spirit μου, of Me, καί and προφητεύσουσιν. they will prophesy. καί and δώσω I will show τέρατα wonders ἐν in τῷ - οὐρανῷ heaven ἄνω above, καί and σημεῖα signs ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth κάτω, below, αἷμα blood καί and πῦρ fire καί and ἀτμίδα vapor καπνοῦ. of smoke. ὁ The ἥλιος sun μεταστραφήσεται will be turned εἰς into σκότος darkness, καί and ἡ the σελήνη moon εἰς into αἷμα, blood, πρίν before ἐλθεῖν coming ἡμέραν day Κυρίου of [the] Lord, τήν - μεγάλην great καί and ἐπιφανῆ. glorious. καί And ἔσται it shall be, πᾶς everyone ὅς who ἄν if ἐπικαλέσηται they shall call upon τό the ὄνομα name Κυρίου of [the] Lord σωθήσεται. will be saved.’
