Μετά After δέ then ταῦτα these things, ἠρώτησεν asked τόν - Πιλᾶτον Pilate Ἰωσήφ Joseph ὁ - ἀπό from Ἁριμαθαίας, Arimathea, ὤν being μαθητής a disciple τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ of Jesus — κεκρυμμένος concealed δέ however διά through τόν the φόβον fear τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων, Jews — ἵνα that ἄρῃ he might take away τό the σῶμα body τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ· of Jesus; καί and ἐπέτρεψεν gave permission ὁ - Πιλᾶτος. Pilate. ἦλθεν He came οὖν therefore καί and ἦρεν took away τό the σῶμα body αὐτοῦ. of Him. ἦλθεν Came δέ now καί also Νικόδημος, Nicodemus, ὁ the [one] ἐλθών having come πρός to αὐτόν Him νυκτός by night τό at the πρῶτον, first, φέρων bearing μίγμα a mixture σμύρνης of myrrh καί and ἀλόης aloes, ὡς about λίτρας litras ἑκατόν. a hundred. ἔλαβον They took οὖν therefore τό the σῶμα body τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ of Jesus καί and ἔδησαν bound αὐτό it ὀθονίοις in linen cloths, μετά with τῶν the ἀρωμάτων, spices, καθώς as ἔθος [the] custom ἐστίν is τοῖς among the Ἰουδαίοις Jews ἐνταφιάζειν. to prepare for burial. Ἦν There was δέ now ἐν in τῷ the τόπῳ place ὅπου where ἐσταυρώθη He was crucified κῆπος, a garden, καί and ἐν in τῷ the κήπῳ garden μνημεῖον a tomb καινόν new, ἐν in ᾧ which οὐδέπω not yet οὐδείς no one ἦν was τεθειμένος· laid. ἐκεῖ There οὖν therefore, διά on account of τήν the Παρασκευήν Preparation τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων, Jews, ὅτι because ἐγγύς near ἦν was τό the μνημεῖον, tomb, ἔθηκαν they laid τόν - Ἰησοῦν. Τῇ - δέ Now μιᾷ the first [day] τῶν of the σαββάτων week, Μαρία Mary ἡ - Μαγδαληνή Magdalene ἔρχεται comes πρωΐ early, σκοτίας dark ἔτι still οὔσης it being, εἰς to τό the μνημεῖον tomb, καί and βλέπει she sees τόν the λίθον stone ἠρμένον having been removed ἐκ from τοῦ the μνημείου. tomb. τρέχει She runs οὖν therefore καί and ἔρχεται comes πρός to Σίμωνα Simon Πέτρον Peter καί and πρός to τόν the ἄλλον other μαθητήν disciple, ὅν whom ἐφίλει loved ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, καί and λέγει she says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἦραν They have taken away τόν the Κύριον Lord ἐκ out of τοῦ the μνημείου tomb, καί and οὐ not οἴδαμεν we know ποῦ where ἔθηκαν they have laid αὐτόν. Ἐξῆλθεν Went forth οὖν therefore ὁ - Πέτρος Peter καί and ὁ the ἄλλος other μαθητής disciple, καί and ἤρχοντο were coming εἰς to τό the μνημεῖον. tomb. ἔτρεχον Were running δέ now οἱ the δύο two ὁμοῦ· together, καί and ὁ the ἄλλος other μαθητής disciple προέδραμεν ran ahead τάχιον faster τοῦ - Πέτρου than Peter καί and ἦλθεν came πρῶτος first εἰς to τό the μνημεῖον, tomb. καί And παρακύψας having stooped down, βλέπει he sees κείμενα lying [there] τά the ὀθόνια, linen cloths; οὐ not μέντοι however εἰσῆλθεν. he entered. Ἔρχεται Comes οὖν then καί also Σίμων Simon Πέτρος Peter ἀκολουθῶν following αὐτῷ him, καί and εἰσῆλθεν he entered εἰς into τό the μνημεῖον, tomb καί and θεωρεῖ sees τά the ὀθόνια linen cloths κείμενα, lying [there], καί and τό the σουδάριον, soudarion, ὅ which ἦν was ἐπί upon τῆς the κεφαλῆς head αὐτοῦ, of Him, οὐ not μετά with τῶν the ὀθονίων linen cloths κείμενον lying, ἀλλά but χωρίς by itself ἐντετυλιγμένον having been folded up εἰς in ἕνα a τόπον. place. τότε Then οὖν therefore εἰσῆλθεν entered καί also ὁ the ἄλλος other μαθητής disciple, ὁ - ἐλθών having come πρῶτος first εἰς to τό the μνημεῖον tomb, καί and εἶδεν he saw καί and ἐπίστευσεν· believed; οὐδέπω not yet γάρ for ᾔδεισαν understood they τήν the γραφήν Scripture ὅτι that δεῖ it behooves αὐτόν Him ἐκ out from νεκρῶν [the] dead ἀναστῆναι. to rise. Ἀπῆλθον Went away οὖν therefore πάλιν again πρός to αὑτούς their [homes] οἱ the μαθηταί. disciples.
Μαρία Mary δέ however εἱστήκει stood πρός at τῷ the μνημείῳ tomb ἔξω outside κλαίουσα. weeping. ὡς As οὖν therefore ἔκλαιεν, she was weeping, παρέκυψεν she stooped down εἰς into τό the μνημεῖον tomb, καί and θεωρεῖ she sees δύο two ἀγγέλους angels ἐν in λευκοῖς white καθεζομένους, sitting, ἕνα one πρός at τῇ the κεφαλῇ head καί and ἕνα one πρός at τοῖς the ποσίν, feet, ὅπου where ἔκειτο had lain τό the σῶμα body τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ. of Jesus. Καί And λέγουσιν say αὐτῇ to her ἐκεῖνοι· they, Γύναι, Woman, τί why κλαίεις; weep you? Λέγει She says αὐτοῖς to them, Ὅτι Because Ἦραν they have taken away τόν the Κύριον Lord μου, of me, καί and οὐ not οἶδα I know ποῦ where ἔθηκαν they have laid αὐτόν. Him. Ταῦτα These things εἰποῦσα having said, ἐστράφη she turned εἰς back τά - ὀπίσω around, καί and θεωρεῖ she sees τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus ἑστῶτα standing [there], καί and οὐ not ᾔδει had known ὅτι that Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐστίν. it is. λέγει Says αὐτῇ to her Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Γύναι, Woman, τί why κλαίεις; do you weep? τίνα Whom ζητεῖς; do you seek? Ἐκείνη She, δοκοῦσα thinking ὅτι that ὁ the κηπουρός gardener ἐστίν He is, λέγει says αὐτῷ· to Him, Κύριε, Sir, εἰ if σύ you ἐβάστασας have carried off αὐτόν, him, εἰπέ tell μοι me ποῦ where ἔθηκας you have laid αὐτόν, Him, κἀγώ and I αὐτόν him ἀρῶ. will take away. Λέγει Says αὐτῇ to her Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Μαριάμ. Mary. Στραφεῖσα Having turned around, ἐκείνη she λέγει says αὐτῷ to Him Ἑβραϊστί· in Hebrew, Ραββουνι, Rabboni, ὅ that λέγεται is to say, Διδάσκαλε. Teacher. Λέγει Says αὐτῇ to her Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Μή Not μου Me ἅπτου, touch, οὔπω not yet γάρ for ἀναβέβηκα have I ascended πρός to τόν the Πατέρα· Father; πορεύου go δέ however πρός to τούς the ἀδελφούς brothers μου of Me καί and εἰπέ say αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀναβαίνω I am ascending πρός to τόν the Πατέρα Father μου of Me καί and Πατέρα Father ὑμῶν of you, καί and [to] Θεόν God μου of Me καί and Θεόν God ὑμῶν. of you. Ἔρχεται Comes Μαριάμ Mary ἡ - Μαγδαληνή Magdalene ἀγγέλλουσα bringing word τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples ὅτι -, Ἑώρακα I have seen τόν the Κύριον, Lord, καί and [that] ταῦτα these things εἶπεν He had said αὐτῇ. to her.
Οὔσης It being οὖν therefore ὀψίας evening τῇ the ἡμέρᾳ day ἐκείνῃ same, τῇ the μιᾷ first σαββάτων of [the] week, καί and τῶν the θυρῶν doors κεκλεισμένων having been shut, ὅπου where ἦσαν were οἱ the μαθηταί disciples διά through τόν the φόβον fear τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων, Jews, ἦλθεν came ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus καί and ἔστη stood εἰς in τό the μέσον midst, καί and λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Εἰρήνη Peace ὑμῖν. to you. καί And τοῦτο this εἰπών having said, ἔδειξεν He showed τάς His χεῖρας hands καί and τήν His πλευράν side αὐτοῖς. to them. Ἐχάρησαν Rejoiced οὖν then οἱ the μαθηταί disciples, ἰδόντες having seen τόν the Κύριον. Lord. Εἶπεν Said οὖν therefore αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus πάλιν· again, Εἰρήνη Peace ὑμῖν· to you; καθώς as ἀπέσταλκεν has sent forth με me ὁ the Πατήρ, Father, κἀγώ I also πέμπω send ὑμᾶς. you. καί And τοῦτο this εἰπών having said, ἐνεφύσησεν He breathed on [them], καί and λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Λάβετε Receive Πνεῦμα [the] Spirit Ἅγιον· Holy. ἄν If τινῶν of any, ἀφῆτε you might forgive τάς the ἁμαρτίας sins, ἀφέωνται they are forgiven αὐτοῖς, them; ἄν If τινῶν any κρατῆτε you might retain, κεκράτηνται. they are retained.
Θωμᾶς Thomas δέ however, εἷς one ἐκ of τῶν the δώδεκα, Twelve, ὁ the [one] λεγόμενος called Δίδυμος, Didymus, οὐ not ἦν was μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them ὅτε when ἦλθεν came Ἰησοῦς. Jesus. ἔλεγον Were saying οὖν therefore αὐτῷ to him οἱ the ἄλλοι other μαθηταί· disciples, Ἑωράκαμεν We have seen τόν the Κύριον. Lord. ὁ - δέ But εἶπεν he said αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἐάν If μή not ἴδω I see ἐν in ταῖς the χερσίν hands αὐτοῦ of Him τόν the τύπον mark τῶν of the ἥλων nails, καί and βάλω put τόν the δάκτυλον finger μου of me εἰς into τόν the τύπον mark τῶν of the ἥλων nails, καί and βάλω put μου of me τήν the χεῖρα hand εἰς into τήν the πλευράν side αὐτοῦ, of Him, οὐ no μή not πιστεύσω. will I believe. Καί And μεθ ̓ after ἡμέρας days ὀκτώ eight πάλιν again ἦσαν were ἔσω inside οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, καί and Θωμᾶς Thomas μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν. them. ἔρχεται Comes ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, τῶν the θυρῶν doors κεκλεισμένων having been shut. καί And ἔστη He stood εἰς in τό the μέσον midst καί and εἶπεν· said, Εἰρήνη Peace ὑμῖν. to you. εἶτα Then λέγει He says τῷ - Θωμᾷ· to Thomas, Φέρε Bring τόν the δάκτυλον finger σου of you ὧδε here, καί and ἴδε see τάς the χεῖρας hands μου of Me; καί and φέρε bring τήν the χεῖρα hand σου of you, καί and βάλε put [it] εἰς into τήν the πλευράν side μου, of Me; καί and μή not γίνου be ἄπιστος unbelieving, ἀλλά but πιστός. believing. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered Θωμᾶς Thomas καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to Him, ὁ The Κύριος Lord μου of Me καί and ὁ the Θεός God μου. of me! Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ὅτι Because ἑώρακας you have seen με Me, πεπίστευκας; you have believed; μακάριοι blessed [are] οἱ those μή not ἰδόντες having seen, καί yet πιστεύσαντες. having believed.
Πολλά Many μέν indeed οὖν therefore καί also ἄλλα other σημεῖα signs ἐποίησεν did ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐνώπιον in the presence τῶν of the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ, of Him, ἅ which οὐ not ἔστιν are γεγραμμένα written ἐν in τῷ the βιβλίῳ book τούτῳ· this; ταῦτα these δέ however γέγραπται have been written ἵνα that πιστεύητε you may believe ὅτι that Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐστίν is ὁ the Χριστός Christ, ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - Θεοῦ, of God, καί and ἵνα that πιστεύοντες believing, ζωήν life ἔχητε you may have ἐν in τῷ the ὀνόματι name αὐτοῦ. of Him.
Μετά After ταῦτα these things, ἐφανέρωσεν revealed ἑαυτόν Himself πάλιν again ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples ἐπί at τῆς the θαλάσσης sea τῆς - Τιβεριάδος· of Tiberias. ἐφανέρωσεν He revealed [Himself] δέ now οὕτως. in this way: ἦσαν They were ὁμοῦ together, Σίμων Simon Πέτρος Peter, καί and Θωμᾶς Thomas ὁ - λεγόμενος called Δίδυμος Didymus, καί and Ναθαναήλ Nathanael ὁ - ἀπό from Κανᾶ Cana τῆς - Γαλιλαίας of Galilee, καί and οἱ the [sons] τοῦ - Ζεβεδαίου of Zebedee, καί and ἄλλοι others ἐκ of τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ His δύο. two. λέγει Says αὐτοῖς to them Σίμων Simon Πέτρος· Peter, Ὑπάγω I am going ἁλιεύειν. to fish. Λέγουσιν They say αὐτῷ· to him, Ἐρχόμεθα Come καί also ἡμεῖς we σύν with σοί. you. ἐξῆλθον They went forth καί and ἐνέβησαν went up εἰς into τό the πλοῖον, boat, καί and ἐν during ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - νυκτί night ἐπίασαν they caught οὐδέν. nothing. Πρωΐας Morning δέ now ἤδη already γενομένης having come, ἔστη stood Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἰς on τόν the αἰγιαλόν, shore; οὐ not μέντοι however ᾔδεισαν knew οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ὅτι that Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐστίν. it is. λέγει Says οὖν therefore αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Παιδία, Children, μή not τὶ any προσφάγιον fish ἔχετε; have you? Ἀπεκρίθησαν They answered αὐτῷ· Him, Οὔ. No. ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Βάλετε Cast εἰς to τά the δεξιά right μέρη side τοῦ of the πλοίου boat τό the δίκτυον, net, καί and εὑρήσετε. you will find [some]. ἔβαλον They cast οὖν, therefore, καί and οὐκέτι not αὐτό it ἑλκύσαι to haul in ἴσχυον were they able, ἀπό from τοῦ the πλήθους multitude τῶν of the ἰχθύων. fish. Λέγει Says οὖν therefore ὁ the μαθητής disciple ἐκεῖνος that ὅν whom ἠγάπα loved ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus τῷ - Πέτρῳ· to Peter, ὁ The Κύριος Lord ἐστίν. it is. Σίμων Simon οὖν therefore Πέτρος Peter, ἀκούσας having heard ὅτι that ὁ the Κύριος Lord ἐστίν it is, τόν the ἐπενδύτην outer garment διεζώσατο, put on ἦν he was γάρ for γυμνός, naked καί and ἔβαλεν he cast ἑαυτόν himself εἰς into τήν the θάλασσαν, sea. οἱ - δέ And ἄλλοι the other μαθηταί disciples τῷ in the πλοιαρίῳ boat ἦλθον, came, οὐ not γάρ for ἦσαν were they μακράν far ἀπό from τῆς the γῆς land, ἀλλά but ὡς about ἀπό away πηχῶν cubits διακοσίων, two hundred, σύροντες dragging τό the δίκτυον net τῶν with the ἰχθύων. fish. ὡς When οὖν therefore ἀπέβησαν they got out εἰς onto τήν the γῆν land, βλέπουσιν they see ἀνθρακιάν a fire of coals κειμένην lying, καί and ὀψάριον fish ἐπικείμενον lying on [it], καί and ἄρτον. bread. Λέγει Says αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἐνέγκατε Bring ἀπό [some] of τῶν the ὀψαρίων fish ὧν that ἐπιάσατε you have caught νῦν. now. ἀνέβη Went up οὖν therefore Σίμων Simon Πέτρος Peter καί and εἵλκυσεν drew τό the δίκτυον net εἰς to τήν the γῆν land, μεστόν full ἰχθύων of fish μεγάλων large, ἑκατόν a hundred πεντήκοντα fifty τριῶν· three; καί although τοσούτων so many ὄντων there are, οὐ not ἐσχίσθη was torn τό the δίκτυον. net. Λέγει Says αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Δεῦτε Come, ἀριστήσατε. have breakfast. οὐδείς None δέ however ἐτόλμα dared τῶν of the μαθητῶν disciples ἐξετάσαι to ask αὐτόν· Him, Σύ You τίς who εἶ; are? εἰδότες knowing ὅτι that ὁ the Κύριος Lord ἐστίν. it is. ἔρχεται Comes Ἰησοῦς Jesus καί and λαμβάνει takes τόν the ἄρτον bread καί and δίδωσιν gives [it] αὐτοῖς, to them, καί and τό the ὀψάριον fish ὁμοίως. likewise. Τοῦτο This [is] ἤδη now τρίτον the third time ἐφανερώθη was revealed Ἰησοῦς Jesus τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples, ἐγερθείς having been raised ἐκ out from νεκρῶν. [the] dead.
Ὅτε When οὖν therefore ἠρίστησαν they had dined, λέγει says τῷ - Σίμωνι to Simon Πέτρῳ Peter ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Σίμων Simon Ἰωάννου, [son] of John, ἀγαπᾷς love you με Me πλέον more τούτων; than these? Λέγει He says αὐτῷ· to Him, Ναί Yes, Κύριε, Lord; σύ You οἶδας know ὅτι that φιλῶ I dearly love σε. You.
