οὐ Not περί for τούτων these δέ however ἐρωτῶ do I ask μόνον, only, ἀλλά but καί also περί for τῶν those πιστευόντων believing διά through τοῦ the λόγου word αὐτῶν of them εἰς in ἐμέ, Me, ἵνα that πάντες all ἕν one ὦσιν, may be, καθώς as σύ, You, πάτερ, Father, ἐν [are] in ἐμοί Me, κἀγώ and I ἐν in σοί, You, ἵνα that καί also αὐτοί they ἐν in ἡμῖν Us ὦσιν, may be, ἵνα that ὁ the κόσμος world πιστεύῃ may believe ὅτι that σύ You με Me ἀπέστειλας. sent. Κἀγώ And I τήν the δόξαν glory ἥν which δέδωκας You have given μοι Me, δέδωκα have given αὐτοῖς, them, ἵνα so that ὦσιν they may be ἕν one, καθώς as ἡμεῖς We ἕν· [are] one — ἐγώ I ἐν in αὐτοῖς them, καί and σύ You ἐν in ἐμοί, Me — ἵνα that ὦσιν they may be τετελειωμένοι perfected εἰς in ἕν, unity, ἵνα so that γινώσκῃ may know ὁ the κόσμος world ὅτι that σύ You με Me ἀπέστειλας sent καί and ἠγάπησας loved αὐτούς them καθώς even as ἐμέ Me ἠγάπησας. Πάτερ, Father, ὅ [those] whom δέδωκας You have given μοι, Me, θέλω I desire ἵνα that ὅπου where εἰμί am ἐγώ I, κἀκεῖνοι they also ὦσιν may be μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ, Me, ἵνα that θεωρῶσιν they may behold τήν - δόξαν glory τήν - ἐμήν, My, ἥν that δέδωκας You gave μοι Me ὅτι because ἠγάπησας You loved με Me πρό before καταβολῆς [the] foundation κόσμου. of [the] world. Ταῦτα These things εἰπών having said, Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐξῆλθεν went out σύν with τοῖς the μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him πέραν beyond τοῦ the χειμάρρου winter stream τοῦ - Κέδρων of Kidron, ὅπου where ἦν there was κῆπος, a garden, εἰς into ὅν which εἰσῆλθεν entered αὐτός He καί and οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ. of Him.

ἡ - οὖν Then σπεῖρα the cohort καί and ὁ the χιλίαρχος commander καί and οἱ the ὑπηρέται officers τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων Jews συνέλαβον took hold of τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus καί and ἔδησαν bound αὐτόν Him, καί and ἤγαγον they led [Him] away πρός to Ἅνναν Annas πρῶτον· first; ἦν he was γάρ for πενθερός father-in-law τοῦ - Καϊάφα, of Caiaphas, ὅς who ἦν was ἀρχιερεύς high priest τοῦ the ἐνιαυτοῦ year ἐκείνου· same. ἦν Was δέ now Καϊάφας Caiaphas ὁ the [one] συμβουλεύσας having given counsel τοῖς to the Ἰουδαίοις Jews ὅτι that συμφέρει it is profitable ἕνα for one ἄνθρωπον man ἀποθανεῖν to perish ὑπέρ for τοῦ the λαοῦ. people.

Ἠκολούθει Were following δέ now τῷ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus Σίμων Simon Πέτρος Peter καί and ἄλλος the other μαθητής. disciple. ὁ Since δέ now μαθητής disciple ἐκεῖνος that ἦν was γνωστός known τῷ to the ἀρχιερεῖ high priest, καί also συνεισῆλθεν he entered with τῷ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus εἰς into τήν the αὐλήν court τοῦ of the ἀρχιερέως, high priest. ὁ - δέ But Πέτρος Peter εἱστήκει stood πρός at τῇ the θύρᾳ door ἔξω. outside. ἐξῆλθεν Went out οὖν therefore ὁ the μαθητής disciple ὁ - ἄλλος other, ὁ who was γνωστός known τοῦ to the ἀρχιερέως high priest, καί and εἶπεν spoke τῇ to the θυρωρῷ doorkeeper, καί and εἰσήγαγεν brought in τόν - Πέτρον. Peter. Λέγει Says οὖν therefore τῷ - Πέτρῳ to Peter ἡ the παιδίσκη servant girl, ἡ the θυρωρός· doorkeeper, Μή Not καί also σύ you ἐκ of τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples εἶ are τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man τούτου; this? Λέγει Says ἐκεῖνος· he, οὐκ Not εἰμί. I am. Εἱστήκεισαν Were standing δέ now οἱ the δοῦλοι servants καί and οἱ the ὑπηρέται officers, ἀνθρακιάν a fire of coals πεποιηκότες, having made, ὅτι for ψῦχος cold ἦν, it was καί and ἐθερμαίνοντο· they were warming themselves. ἦν Was δέ now καί also ὁ - Πέτρος Peter μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them ἑστώς standing καί and θερμαινόμενος. warming himself.

ὁ - οὖν Then ἀρχιερεύς the high priest ἠρώτησεν questioned τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus περί concerning τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ of Him καί and περί concerning τῆς the διδαχῆς teaching αὐτοῦ. of Him. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτῷ him Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἐγώ I παρρησίᾳ openly λελάληκα have spoken τῷ to the κόσμῳ, world; ἐγώ I πάντοτε always ἐδίδαξα taught ἐν in συναγωγῇ [the] synagogue καί and ἐν in τῷ the ἱερῷ, temple, ὅπου where πάντες all οἱ the Ἰουδαῖοι Jews συνέρχονται, come together, καί and ἐν in κρυπτῷ secret ἐλάλησα I spoke οὐδέν. nothing. τί Why με Me ἐρωτᾷς; do you question? ἐρώτησον Question τούς those ἀκηκοότας having heard τί what ἐλάλησα I spoke αὐτοῖς· to them; ἴδε behold, οὗτοι they οἴδασιν know ἅ what εἶπον said ἐγώ. I. Ταῦτα These things δέ now αὐτοῦ of Him εἰπόντος having said, εἷς one παρεστηκώς standing by τῶν of the ὑπηρετῶν officers ἔδωκεν gave ῥάπισμα a blow with the palm τῷ - Ἰησοῦ to Jesus, εἰπών· having said, Οὕτως Thus ἀποκρίνῃ answer You τῷ the ἀρχιερεῖ; high priest? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτῷ him Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, εἰ If κακῶς evil ἐλάλησα, I spoke, μαρτύρησον bear witness περί concerning τοῦ the κακοῦ· evil; εἰ if δέ however καλῶς, rightly, τί why με Me δέρεις; strike you? Ἀπέστειλεν Sent οὖν then αὐτόν Him ὁ - Ἅννας Annas, δεδεμένον bound, πρός to Καϊάφαν Caiaphas τόν the ἀρχιερέα. high priest.

Ἦν Was δέ now Σίμων Simon Πέτρος Peter ἑστώς standing καί and θερμαινόμενος. warming himself. εἶπον They said οὖν therefore αὐτῷ· to him, Μή Not καί also σύ you ἐκ of τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ of Him εἶ; are? Ἠρνήσατο Denied ἐκεῖνος he καί and εἶπεν· said, οὐκ Not εἰμί. I am. Λέγει Says εἷς one ἐκ of τῶν the δούλων servants τοῦ of the ἀρχιερέως, high priest, συγγενής kinsman ὤν being [of him] οὗ of whom ἀπέκοψεν had cut off Πέτρος Peter τό the ὠτίον· ear, οὐκ Not ἐγώ I σε you εἶδον saw ἐν in τῷ the κήπῳ garden μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ; Him? Πάλιν Again οὖν then ἠρνήσατο denied Πέτρος, Peter, καί and εὐθέως immediately ἀλέκτωρ a rooster ἐφώνησεν. crowed.

Ἄγουσιν They are leading οὖν then τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus ἀπό from τοῦ - Καϊάφα Caiaphas εἰς into τό the πραιτώριον· Praetorium. ἦν It was δέ now πρωΐ· early, καί and αὐτοί they οὐ not εἰσῆλθον entered εἰς into τό the πραιτώριον, Praetorium ἵνα so that μή not μιανθῶσιν they should be defiled, ἀλλά but φάγωσιν might eat τό the πάσχα. Passover. Ἐξῆλθεν Went οὖν therefore ὁ - Πιλᾶτος Pilate ἔξω out πρός to αὐτούς them καί and φησίν· said, Τίνα What κατηγορίαν accusation φέρετε bring you κατά against τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου man τούτου; this? Ἀπεκρίθησαν They answered καί and εἶπαν said αὐτῷ· to him, εἰ If μή not ἦν were οὗτος He κακόν evil ποιῶν, doing, οὐ not ἄν - σοι to you παρεδώκαμεν we would have delivered αὐτόν. Him. Εἶπεν Said οὖν therefore αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Πιλᾶτος· Pilate, Λάβετε Take αὐτόν Him ὑμεῖς yourselves καί and κατά according to τόν the νόμον law ὑμῶν of you κρίνατε judge αὐτόν. Him. Εἶπον Said αὐτῷ to him οἱ the Ἰουδαῖοι· Jews, Ἡμῖν To us οὐ not ἔξεστιν it is permitted ἀποκτεῖναι to put to death οὐδένα· no one ἵνα that ὁ the λόγος word τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ of Jesus πληρωθῇ might be fulfilled, ὅν which εἶπεν He had spoken, σημαίνων signifying ποίῳ what θανάτῳ death ἤμελλεν He was about ἀποθνήσκειν. to die.

Εἰσῆλθεν Entered οὖν therefore πάλιν again εἰς into τό the πραιτώριον Praetorium ὁ - Πιλᾶτος Pilate, καί and ἐφώνησεν he called τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to Him, Σύ You εἶ are ὁ the Βασιλεύς King τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων; Jews? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἀπό Of σεαυτοῦ yourself σύ you τοῦτο this λέγεις say, ἤ or ἄλλοι others εἶπον did say [it] σοι to you περί concerning ἐμοῦ; Me? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered ὁ - Πιλᾶτος· Pilate, Μήτι Not ἐγώ I Ἰουδαῖος a Jew εἰμί; am? τό The ἔθνος nation τό - σόν of You καί and οἱ the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests παρέδωκαν delivered σε You ἐμοί· to me. τί What ἐποίησας; have You done? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, ἡ The βασιλεία kingdom ἡ - ἐμή My οὐ not ἔστιν is ἐκ of τοῦ the κόσμου world τούτου· this; εἰ if ἐκ of τοῦ the κόσμου world τούτου this ἦν were ἡ - βασιλεία kingdom ἡ - ἐμή, My, οἱ - ὑπηρέται attendants οἱ - ἐμοί My ἠγωνίζοντο would fight ἄν - ἵνα that μή not παραδοθῶ I might be betrayed τοῖς to the Ἰουδαίοις· Jews. νῦν Now δέ however ἡ - βασιλεία kingdom ἡ - ἐμή My οὐ not ἔστιν is ἐντεῦθεν. from here. Εἶπεν Said οὖν therefore αὐτῷ to Him ὁ - Πιλᾶτος· Pilate, Οὐκοῦν Then βασιλεύς a king εἶ are σύ; You? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Σύ You λέγεις say ὅτι that βασιλεύς a king εἰμί. I am. ἐγώ I εἰς for τοῦτο this γεγέννημαι have been born, καί and εἰς for τοῦτο this ἐλήλυθα I have come εἰς into τόν the κόσμον, world, ἵνα that μαρτυρήσω I may bear witness τῇ to the ἀληθείᾳ· truth. πᾶς Everyone ὁ - ὤν being ἐκ of τῆς the ἀληθείας truth ἀκούει hears μου of Me τῆς the φωνῆς. voice.
