Κἀγώ And I ἐρωτήσω will ask τόν the Πατέρα Father, καί and ἄλλον another Παράκλητον Helper δώσει He will give ὑμῖν, you, ἵνα that μεθ ̓ with ὑμῶν you εἰς to τόν the αἰῶνα age, ᾖ, He may be τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit τῆς - ἀληθείας, of truth, ὅ whom ὁ the κόσμος world οὐ not δύναται is able λαβεῖν, to receive, ὅτι because οὐ not θεωρεῖ it does see αὐτό Him, οὐδέ nor γινώσκει· know. ὑμεῖς But you γινώσκετε know αὐτό, Him, ὅτι for παρ ̓ with ὑμῖν you μένει He abides, καί and ἐν in ὑμῖν you ἔσται. Καθώς As ἠγάπησεν has loved με Me ὁ the Πατήρ, Father, κἀγώ I also ὑμᾶς you ἠγάπησα· have loved. μείνατε Abide ἐν in τῇ the ἀγάπῃ love τῇ - ἐμῇ. of Me. ἐάν If τάς the ἐντολάς commandments μου of Me τηρήσητε, you keep, μενεῖτε you will abide ἐν in τῇ the ἀγάπῃ love μου, of Me, καθώς as ἐγώ I, τάς the ἐντολάς commandments τοῦ the Πατρός Father μου of Me τετήρηκα have kept, καί and μένω I abide αὐτοῦ of Him ἐν in τῇ the ἀγάπῃ. love. Ταῦτα These things λελάληκα I have spoken ὑμῖν to you, ἵνα that ἡ - χαρά joy ἡ - ἐμή My ἐν in ὑμῖν you ᾖ may be, καί and ἡ the χαρά joy ὑμῶν of you πληρωθῇ. may be full. Αὕτη This ἐστίν is ἡ - ἐντολή commandment ἡ - ἐμή, My, ἵνα that ἀγαπᾶτε you love ἀλλήλους one another καθώς as ἠγάπησα I loved ὑμᾶς. you. μείζονα Greater ταύτης than this ἀγάπην love οὐδείς no one ἔχει, has, ἵνα that τὶς one τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of him θῇ should lay down ὑπέρ for τῶν the φίλων friends αὐτοῦ. of him. εἰ If ὁ the κόσμος world ὑμᾶς you μισεῖ, hates, γινώσκετε you know ὅτι that ἐμέ Me πρῶτον before ὑμῶν you μεμίσηκεν. it has hated. εἰ If ἐκ of τοῦ the κόσμου world ἦτε, you were, ὁ the κόσμος world ἄν - τό [as] its ἴδιον own ἐφίλει· would love [you]; ὅτι because δέ however ἐκ of τοῦ the κόσμου world οὐ not ἐστέ, you are, ἀλλ ̓ but ἐγώ I ἐξελεξάμην chose ὑμᾶς you ἐκ out of τοῦ the κόσμου, world, διά on account of τοῦτο this μισεῖ hates ὑμᾶς you ὁ the κόσμος. world. Μνημονεύετε Remember τοῦ the λόγου word οὗ that ἐγώ I εἶπον said ὑμῖν· to you: οὐκ Not ἔστιν is δοῦλος a servant μείζων greater than τοῦ the κυρίου master αὐτοῦ. of him. εἰ If ἐμέ Me ἐδίωξαν, they persecuted, καί also ὑμᾶς you διώξουσιν· they will persecute; εἰ if τόν the λόγον word μου of Me ἐτήρησαν, they kept, καί also τόν - ὑμέτερον yours τηρήσουσιν. they will keep. ἀλλά But ταῦτα these things πάντα all ποιήσουσιν they will do εἰς against ὑμᾶς you διά on account of τό the ὄνομα name μου, of Me, ὅτι because οὐ not οἴδασιν they have known τόν the [One] πέμψαντα having sent με. Me. εἰ If μή not ἦλθον I had come καί and ἐλάλησα spoken αὐτοῖς, to them, ἁμαρτίαν sin οὐ not εἴχοσαν· they would have had; νῦν now δέ however πρόφασιν excuse οὐ not ἔχουσιν they have περί for τῆς the ἁμαρτίας sin αὐτῶν. of them. ὁ The [one] ἐμέ Me μισῶν hating, καί also τόν the Πατέρα Father μου of Me μισεῖ. hates. εἰ If τά the ἔργα works μή not ἐποίησα I had done ἐν among αὐτοῖς them ἅ that οὐδείς no ἄλλος other ἐποίησεν, has done, ἁμαρτίαν sin οὐ not εἴχοσαν· they would have had; νῦν now δέ however καί both ἑωράκασιν they have seen καί and μεμισήκασιν have hated καί both ἐμέ Me καί and τόν the Πατέρα Father μου. of Me. ἀλλ ̓ But [this is] ἵνα that πληρωθῇ may be fulfilled ὁ the λόγος word ὁ - ἐν in τῷ the νόμῳ law αὐτῶν of them γεγραμμένος having been written ὅτι -: Ἐμίσησαν They hated με Me δωρεάν. without cause.’

Ὅταν When ἔλθῃ comes ὁ the Παράκλητος Helper, ὅν whom ἐγώ I πέμψω will send ὑμῖν to you παρά from τοῦ the Πατρός, Father, τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit τῆς - ἀληθείας of truth, ὅ who παρά from τοῦ the Πατρός Father ἐκπορεύεται, goes forth, ἐκεῖνος He μαρτυρήσει will bear witness περί concerning ἐμοῦ· Me. καί Also ὑμεῖς you δέ now μαρτυρεῖτε, bear witness, ὅτι because ἀπ ̓ from ἀρχῆς [the] beginning μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ Me ἐστέ. you are.

Ταῦτα These things λελάληκα I have spoken ὑμῖν to you ἵνα that μή not σκανδαλισθῆτε. you might fall away. ἀποσυναγώγους Out of the synagogues ποιήσουσιν they will put ὑμᾶς· you; ἀλλ ̓ but ἔρχεται is coming ὥρα an hour ἵνα that πᾶς everyone ὁ - ἀποκτείνας having killed ὑμᾶς you δόξῃ will think λατρείαν [it is] a service προσφέρειν to offer τῷ - Θεῷ. to God. καί And ταῦτα these things ποιήσουσιν they will do, ὅτι because οὐ not ἔγνωσαν they know τόν the Πατέρα Father, οὐδέ nor ἐμέ. Me. ἀλλά But ταῦτα these things λελάληκα I have said ὑμῖν to you, ἵνα so that ὅταν when ἔλθῃ might have come ἡ the ὥρα hour αὐτῶν of them, μνημονεύητε you may remember αὐτῶν them, ὅτι that ἐγώ I εἶπον said [them] ὑμῖν. to you. ταῦτα These things δέ now ὑμῖν to you ἐκ from ἀρχῆς [the] beginning οὐ not εἶπον, I said, ὅτι because μεθ ̓ with ὑμῶν you ἤμην. I was. Νῦν Now δέ however ὑπάγω I go πρός to τόν the [One] πέμψαντα having sent με, Me, καί and οὐδείς none ἐκ of ὑμῶν you ἐρωτᾷ asks με· Me, Ποῦ Where ὑπάγεις; are You going? ἀλλ ̓ But ὅτι because ταῦτα these things λελάληκα I have said ὑμῖν to you, ἡ - λύπη sorrow πεπλήρωκεν has filled ὑμῶν your τήν - καρδίαν. heart. ἀλλ ̓ But ἐγώ I τήν the ἀλήθειαν truth λέγω say ὑμῖν, to you, συμφέρει it is profitable ὑμῖν for you ἵνα that ἐγώ I ἀπέλθω. should go away. ἐάν If γάρ for μή not ἀπέλθω, I go away, ὁ the Παράκλητος Helper οὐ no ἐλεύσεται will come πρός to ὑμᾶς· you; ἐάν if δέ however πορευθῶ, I go, πέμψω I will send αὐτόν Him πρός to ὑμᾶς. you. Καί And ἐλθών having come, ἐκεῖνος He ἐλέγξει will convict τόν the κόσμον world περί concerning ἁμαρτίας sin, καί and περί concerning δικαιοσύνης righteousness, καί and περί concerning κρίσεως· judgment: περί concerning ἁμαρτίας sin μέν, indeed, ὅτι because οὐ not πιστεύουσιν do they believe εἰς in ἐμέ· Me; περί concerning δικαιοσύνης righteousness δέ, now, ὅτι because πρός to τόν the Πατέρα Father ὑπάγω I go away, καί and οὐκέτι no more θεωρεῖτε you behold με· Me; περί concerning δέ now κρίσεως, judgment, ὅτι because ὁ the ἄρχων ruler τοῦ of the κόσμου world τούτου this κέκριται. has been judged.
