Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to Him Σίμων Simon Πέτρος· Peter, Κύριε, Lord, ποῦ where ὑπάγεις; go You? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτῷ him Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ὅπου Where ὑπάγω I go, οὐ not δύνασαι you are able μοι Me νῦν now ἀκολουθῆσαι, to follow; ἀκολουθήσεις you will follow δέ however ὕστερον. afterward. Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to Him ὁ - Πέτρος· Peter, Κύριε, Lord, διά because of τί why οὐ not δύναμαι am I able σοι You ἀκολουθῆσαι to follow ἄρτι; presently? τήν The ψυχήν life μου of me ὑπέρ for σοῦ You θήσω. I will lay down. Ἀποκρίνεται Answered Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Τήν The ψυχήν life σου of you ὑπέρ for ἐμοῦ Me θήσεις; will you lay down? ἀμήν Truly, ἀμήν truly, λέγω I say σοι, to you, οὐ no μή not ἀλέκτωρ [the] rooster φωνήσῃ will crow, ἕως until οὗ that ἀρνήσῃ you will deny με Me τρίς. three times.

Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to Him Φίλιππος· Philip, Κύριε, Lord, δεῖξον show ἡμῖν us τόν the Πατέρα, Father, καί and ἀρκεῖ it is enough ἡμῖν. for us. Ἐάν If ἀγαπᾶτε you love με, Me, τάς - ἐντολάς commandments τάς - ἐμάς My τηρήσετε· you will keep. Κἀγώ And I ἐρωτήσω will ask τόν the Πατέρα Father, καί and ἄλλον another Παράκλητον Helper δώσει He will give ὑμῖν, you, ἵνα that μεθ ̓ with ὑμῶν you εἰς to τόν the αἰῶνα age, ᾖ, He may be τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit τῆς - ἀληθείας, of truth, ὅ whom ὁ the κόσμος world οὐ not δύναται is able λαβεῖν, to receive, ὅτι because οὐ not θεωρεῖ it does see αὐτό Him, οὐδέ nor γινώσκει· know. ὑμεῖς But you γινώσκετε know αὐτό, Him, ὅτι for παρ ̓ with ὑμῖν you μένει He abides, καί and ἐν in ὑμῖν you ἔσται. Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to Him Ἰούδας, Judas, οὐ not ὁ - Ἰσκαριώτης· Iscariot, Κύριε, Lord, καί then τί what γέγονεν has occurred ὅτι that ἡμῖν to us μέλλεις You are about ἐμφανίζειν to manifest σεαυτόν Yourself, καί and οὐχί not τῷ to the κόσμῳ; world? Εἰρήνην Peace ἀφίημι I leave ὑμῖν, with you; εἰρήνην peace τήν - ἐμήν My δίδωμι I give ὑμῖν· to you; οὐ not καθώς as ὁ the κόσμος world δίδωσιν gives, ἐγώ I δίδωμι give ὑμῖν. to you. μή Not ταρασσέσθω let be troubled ὑμῶν of you ἡ the καρδία heart, μηδέ nor δειλιάτω. let it fear. ἠκούσατε You heard ὅτι that ἐγώ I εἶπον said ὑμῖν· to you, Ὑπάγω I am going away καί and ἔρχομαι I am coming πρός to ὑμᾶς. you. εἰ If ἠγαπᾶτε you loved με Me, ἐχάρητε you would have rejoiced ἄν - ὅτι that πορεύομαι I am going πρός to τόν the Πατέρα, Father, ὅτι because ὁ the Πατήρ Father μείζων greater than μού I ἐστίν. is. καί And νῦν now εἴρηκα I have told ὑμῖν you πρίν before γενέσθαι, it comes to pass, ἵνα that ὅταν when γένηται it shall have come to pass, πιστεύσητε. you might believe. Οὐκέτι No longer πολλά much λαλήσω I will speak μεθ ̓ with ὑμῶν, you; ἔρχεται comes γάρ for ὁ the τοῦ of this κόσμου world ἄρχων· ruler, καί and ἐν in ἐμοί Me οὐ not ἔχει he has οὐδέν, nothing; ἀλλ ̓ but ἵνα that γνῷ may know ὁ the κόσμος world ὅτι that ἀγαπῶ I love τόν the Πατέρα, Father, καί and καθώς as ἐνετείλατο has commanded μοι Me ὁ the Πατήρ, Father, οὕτως thus ποιῶ. I do. Ἐγείρεσθε, Rise up, ἄγωμεν let us go ἐντεῦθεν. from here.

Ἐγώ I εἰμί am ἡ the ἄμπελος vine ἡ - ἀληθινή true, καί and ὁ the Πατήρ Father μου of Me, ὁ the γεωργός vinedresser ἐστίν. is. πᾶν Every κλῆμα branch ἐν in ἐμοί Me μή not φέρον bearing καρπόν fruit, αἴρει He takes away αὐτό, it; καί and πᾶν every one τό - καρπόν fruit φέρον bearing, καθαίρει He prunes αὐτό it, ἵνα that καρπόν fruit πλείονα more φέρῃ. it may bear. ἤδη Already ὑμεῖς you καθαροί clean ἐστέ are διά by reason of τόν the λόγον word ὅν that λελάληκα I have spoken ὑμῖν· to you. μείνατε Abide ἐν in ἐμοί, Me, κἀγώ and I ἐν in ὑμῖν. you. καθώς As τό the κλῆμα branch οὐ not δύναται is able καρπόν fruit φέρειν to bear ἀφ ̓ of ἑαυτοῦ itself, ἐάν if μή not μένῃ it abide ἐν in τῇ the ἀμπέλῳ, vine, οὕτως so οὐδέ neither [can] ὑμεῖς you, ἐάν if μή not ἐν in ἐμοί Me μένητε. you abide. Ἐγώ I εἰμί am ἡ the ἄμπελος, vine; ὑμεῖς you [are] τά the κλήματα. branches. ὁ The [one] μένων abiding ἐν in ἐμοί Me, κἀγώ and I ἐν in αὐτῷ him, οὗτος he φέρει bears καρπόν fruit πολύν, much. ὅτι For χωρίς apart from ἐμοῦ Me οὐ not δύνασθε you are able ποιεῖν to do οὐδέν. nothing. ἐάν If μή not τὶς anyone μένῃ abide ἐν in ἐμοί, Me, ἐβλήθη he is thrown ἔξω out ὡς like τό the κλῆμα branch καί and ἐξηράνθη is dried up, καί and συνάγουσιν they gather αὐτά them καί and εἰς into τό the πῦρ fire βάλλουσιν cast, καί and καίεται. it is burned. ἐάν If μείνητε you abide ἐν in ἐμοί Me καί and τά the ῥήματα words μου of Me ἐν in ὑμῖν you μείνῃ, abide, ὅ whatever ἐάν if θέλητε you wish, αἰτήσασθε, you shall ask, καί and γενήσεται it will come to pass ὑμῖν. to you. ἐν In τούτῳ this ἐδοξάσθη is glorified ὁ the Πατήρ Father μου, of Me, ἵνα that καρπόν fruit πολύν much φέρητε you should bear, καί and γένησθε you shall be ἐμοί to Me μαθηταί. disciples.

Καθώς As ἠγάπησεν has loved με Me ὁ the Πατήρ, Father, κἀγώ I also ὑμᾶς you ἠγάπησα· have loved. μείνατε Abide ἐν in τῇ the ἀγάπῃ love τῇ - ἐμῇ. of Me. ἐάν If τάς the ἐντολάς commandments μου of Me τηρήσητε, you keep, μενεῖτε you will abide ἐν in τῇ the ἀγάπῃ love μου, of Me, καθώς as ἐγώ I, τάς the ἐντολάς commandments τοῦ the Πατρός Father μου of Me τετήρηκα have kept, καί and μένω I abide αὐτοῦ of Him ἐν in τῇ the ἀγάπῃ. love. Ταῦτα These things λελάληκα I have spoken ὑμῖν to you, ἵνα that ἡ - χαρά joy ἡ - ἐμή My ἐν in ὑμῖν you ᾖ may be, καί and ἡ the χαρά joy ὑμῶν of you πληρωθῇ. may be full. Αὕτη This ἐστίν is ἡ - ἐντολή commandment ἡ - ἐμή, My, ἵνα that ἀγαπᾶτε you love ἀλλήλους one another καθώς as ἠγάπησα I loved ὑμᾶς. you. μείζονα Greater ταύτης than this ἀγάπην love οὐδείς no one ἔχει, has, ἵνα that τὶς one τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of him θῇ should lay down ὑπέρ for τῶν the φίλων friends αὐτοῦ. of him. Ὑμεῖς You φίλοι friends μού of Me ἐστέ are ἐάν if ποιῆτε you do ἅ what ἐγώ I ἐντέλλομαι command ὑμῖν. you. οὐκέτι No longer λέγω I call ὑμᾶς you δούλους, servants, ὅτι for ὁ the δοῦλος servant οὐ not οἶδεν knows τί what ποιεῖ is doing αὐτοῦ his ὁ - κύριος· master. ὑμᾶς You δέ however εἴρηκα I have called φίλους, friends, ὅτι because πάντα all things ἅ that ἤκουσα I heard παρά from τοῦ the Πατρός Father μου of Me, ἐγνώρισα I have made known ὑμῖν. to you. οὐ Not ὑμεῖς you με Me ἐξελέξασθε, chose, ἀλλ ̓ but ἐγώ I ἐξελεξάμην chose ὑμᾶς you, καί and ἔθηκα appointed ὑμᾶς you ἵνα that ὑμεῖς you ὑπάγητε should go καί and καρπόν fruit φέρητε you should bear, καί and ὁ the καρπός fruit ὑμῶν of you μένῃ, should remain; ἵνα so that ὅ τὶ whatever ἄν - αἰτήσητε you might ask τόν the Πατέρα Father ἐν in τῷ the ὀνόματι name μου of Me, δῷ He may give ὑμῖν. you. ταῦτα These things ἐντέλλομαι I command ὑμῖν, you, ἵνα that ἀγαπᾶτε you love ἀλλήλους. one another.

εἰ If ὁ the κόσμος world ὑμᾶς you μισεῖ, hates, γινώσκετε you know ὅτι that ἐμέ Me πρῶτον before ὑμῶν you μεμίσηκεν. it has hated. εἰ If ἐκ of τοῦ the κόσμου world ἦτε, you were, ὁ the κόσμος world ἄν - τό [as] its ἴδιον own ἐφίλει· would love [you]; ὅτι because δέ however ἐκ of τοῦ the κόσμου world οὐ not ἐστέ, you are, ἀλλ ̓ but ἐγώ I ἐξελεξάμην chose ὑμᾶς you ἐκ out of τοῦ the κόσμου, world, διά on account of τοῦτο this μισεῖ hates ὑμᾶς you ὁ the κόσμος. world. Μνημονεύετε Remember τοῦ the λόγου word οὗ that ἐγώ I εἶπον said ὑμῖν· to you: οὐκ Not ἔστιν is δοῦλος a servant μείζων greater than τοῦ the κυρίου master αὐτοῦ. of him.
