Ταῦτα These things εἶπαν said οἱ the γονεῖς parents αὐτοῦ of Him ὅτι because ἐφοβοῦντο they were afraid τούς of the Ἰουδαίους· Jews; ἤδη already γάρ for συνετέθειντο had agreed together οἱ the Ἰουδαῖοι Jews ἵνα that ἐάν if τὶς anyone αὐτόν Him ὁμολογήσῃ should confess Χριστόν, Christ, ἀποσυνάγωγος expelled from the synagogue γένηται. he would be. διά Because of τοῦτο this, οἱ the γονεῖς parents αὐτοῦ of him εἶπαν said ὅτι -, Ἡλικίαν Age ἔχει, he has; αὐτόν him ἐπερωτήσατε. ask.
Ἐφώνησαν They called οὖν therefore τόν the ἄνθρωπον man ἐκ out δευτέρου a second time ὅς who ἦν had been τυφλός blind, καί and εἶπαν said αὐτῷ· to him, Δός Give δόξαν glory τῷ - Θεῷ· to God! ἡμεῖς We οἴδαμεν know ὅτι that οὗτος this ὁ - ἄνθρωπος man ἁμαρτωλός a sinner ἐστίν. is. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered οὖν then ἐκεῖνος· he, εἰ Whether ἁμαρτωλός a sinner ἐστίν He is, οὐ not οἶδα· I know. ἕν One [thing] οἶδα I do know, ὅτι that τυφλός blind ὤν being, ἄρτι now βλέπω. I see. Εἶπον They said οὖν therefore αὐτῷ· to him, Τί What ἐποίησεν did He σοι; to you? πῶς How ἤνοιξεν opened He σου of you τούς the ὀφθαλμούς; eyes? Ἀπεκρίθη He answered αὐτοῖς· them, Εἶπον I told ὑμῖν you ἤδη already, καί and οὐ not ἠκούσατε· you did listen. τί Why πάλιν again θέλετε do you wish ἀκούειν; to hear? μή Not καί also ὑμεῖς you θέλετε do wish αὐτοῦ His μαθηταί disciples γενέσθαι; to become? Καί And ἐλοιδόρησαν they railed at αὐτόν him καί and εἶπον· said, Σύ You μαθητής a disciple εἶ are ἐκείνου, of that One; ἡμεῖς we δέ however τοῦ - Μωϋσέως of Moses ἐσμέν are μαθηταί· disciples. ἡμεῖς We οἴδαμεν know ὅτι that Μωϋσεῖ to Moses λελάληκεν has spoken ὁ - Θεός, God; τοῦτον this [man] δέ however οὐ not οἴδαμεν we know πόθεν from where ἐστίν. is. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered ὁ the ἄνθρωπος man καί and εἶπεν said αὐτοῖς· to them, ἐν In τούτῳ this γάρ for τό - θαυμαστόν an amazing thing ἐστίν, is, ὅτι that ὑμεῖς you οὐ not οἴδατε know πόθεν from where ἐστίν, He is, καί and yet ἤνοιξεν He opened μου my τούς - ὀφθαλμούς. eyes. οἴδαμεν We know ὅτι that ἁμαρτωλῶν sinners ὁ - Θεός God οὐ not ἀκούει, does hear; ἀλλ ̓ but ἐάν if τὶς anyone θεοσεβής God-fearing ᾖ is, καί and τό the θέλημα will αὐτοῦ of Him ποιῇ does, τούτου him ἀκούει. He hears. ἐκ Out of τοῦ the αἰῶνος age οὐ never ἠκούσθη it has been heard, ὅτι that ἠνέῳξεν opened τὶς anyone ὀφθαλμούς [the] eyes τυφλοῦ of [one] blind γεγεννημένου· having been born. εἰ If μή not ἦν were οὗτος this [man] παρά from Θεοῦ, God, οὐ not ἠδύνατο He could ποιεῖν do οὐδέν. nothing. Ἀπεκρίθησαν They answered καί and εἶπαν said αὐτῷ· to him, ἐν In ἁμαρτίαις sins σύ you ἐγεννήθης were born ὅλος entirely, καί and σύ you διδάσκεις teach ἡμᾶς; us? καί And ἐξέβαλον they cast αὐτόν him ἔξω. out.
Ἤκουσεν Heard Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὅτι that ἐξέβαλον they had cast αὐτόν him ἔξω out, καί and εὑρών having found αὐτόν him, εἶπεν· He said, Σύ You πιστεύεις believe εἰς in τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ of ἀνθρώπου; Man?” Ἀπεκρίθη Answered ἐκεῖνος he καί and εἶπεν· said, Καί And τίς who ἐστίν, is He, Κύριε, Lord, ἵνα that πιστεύσω I may believe εἰς in αὐτόν; Him? Εἶπεν Said αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Καί Both ἑώρακας You have seen αὐτόν Him, καί and ὁ the [One] λαλῶν speaking μετά with σοῦ you ἐκεῖνος He ἐστίν. is. ὁ - δέ And ἔφη· he was saying, Πιστεύω, I believe, Κύριε· Lord. καί And προσεκύνησεν he worshiped αὐτῷ. Him.
Καί And εἶπεν said ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, εἰς For κρίμα judgment ἐγώ I εἰς into τόν the κόσμον world τοῦτον this ἦλθον, came, ἵνα that οἱ those μή not βλέποντες seeing βλέπωσιν may see; καί and οἱ those βλέποντες seeing, τυφλοί blind γένωνται. may become.” ἤκουσαν Heard ἐκ of τῶν the Φαρισαίων Pharisees ταῦτα these things, οἱ who μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ Him ὄντες were, καί and εἶπον they said αὐτῷ· to Him, Μή Not καί also ἡμεῖς we τυφλοί blind ἐσμέν; are? Εἶπεν Said αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, εἰ If τυφλοί blind ἦτε, you were, οὐ not ἄν - εἴχετε you would have ἁμαρτίαν· sin; νῦν since δέ however λέγετε you say ὅτι -, Βλέπομεν, We see, ἡ the ἁμαρτία sin ὑμῶν of you μένει. remains.
Ἀμήν Truly, ἀμήν truly, λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ὁ the [one] μή not εἰσερχόμενος entering in διά by τῆς the θύρας door εἰς to τήν the αὐλήν fold τῶν of the προβάτων sheep, ἀλλά but ἀναβαίνων climbing up ἀλλαχόθεν another way, ἐκεῖνος he κλέπτης a thief ἐστίν is καί and λῃστής· a robber. ὁ The [one] δέ however εἰσερχόμενος entering in διά by τῆς the θύρας door, ποιμήν shepherd ἐστίν is τῶν of the προβάτων. sheep. τούτῳ To him ὁ the θυρωρός doorkeeper ἀνοίγει opens, καί and τά the πρόβατα sheep τῆς the φωνῆς voice αὐτοῦ of him ἀκούει hear, καί and τά the ἴδια own πρόβατα sheep φωνεῖ he calls κατ ̓ by ὄνομα name καί and ἐξάγει leads out αὐτά. them. Ὅταν When τά the ἴδια own πάντα all ἐκβάλῃ, he has brought out, ἔμπροσθεν before αὐτῶν them πορεύεται he goes, καί and τά the πρόβατα sheep αὐτῷ him ἀκολουθεῖ, follow, ὅτι because οἴδασιν they know τήν the φωνήν voice αὐτοῦ· of him. ἀλλοτρίῳ A stranger δέ however οὐ in no way μή not ἀκολουθήσουσιν, they will follow, ἀλλά but φεύξονται will flee ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ, him, ὅτι because οὐ not οἴδασιν they recognize τῶν - ἀλλοτρίων of strangers τήν the φωνήν. voice. Ταύτην This τήν - παροιμίαν allegory εἶπεν spoke αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς, Jesus; ἐκεῖνοι they δέ however οὐ not ἔγνωσαν knew τίνα what ἦν it was ἅ that ἐλάλει He was saying αὐτοῖς. to them.
Εἶπεν Said οὖν therefore πάλιν again ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἀμήν Truly, ἀμήν truly, λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι -, ἐγώ I εἰμί am ἡ the θύρα door τῶν of the προβάτων. sheep. πάντες All ὅσοι who ever ἦλθον came πρό before ἐμοῦ Me, κλέπται thieves εἰσίν are καί and λῃσταί, robbers; ἀλλ ̓ but οὐ not ἤκουσαν did hear αὐτῶν them τά the πρόβατα. sheep. ἐγώ I εἰμί am ἡ the θύρα· door; δι ̓ by ἐμοῦ Me ἐάν if τὶς anyone εἰσέλθῃ enters in, σωθήσεται he will be saved, καί and εἰσελεύσεται he will go in καί and ἐξελεύσεται will go out, καί and νομήν pasture εὑρήσει. will find. ὁ The κλέπτης thief οὐ not ἔρχεται comes εἰ if μή not ἵνα that κλέψῃ he might steal, καί and θύσῃ might kill, καί and ἀπολέσῃ· might destroy. ἐγώ I ἦλθον came ἵνα that ζωήν life ἔχωσιν they may have, καί and περισσόν abundantly ἔχωσιν. may have [it].
Ἐγώ I εἰμί am ὁ the ποιμήν shepherd ὁ - καλός. good. ὁ The ποιμήν shepherd ὁ - καλός good, τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of Him τίθησιν lays down ὑπέρ for τῶν the προβάτων· sheep; ὁ the μισθωτός hired servant καί however οὐ not ὤν being ποιμήν, [the] shepherd, οὗ whose οὐ not ἔστιν are τά the πρόβατα sheep ἴδια, own, θεωρεῖ sees τόν the λύκον wolf ἐρχόμενον coming, καί and ἀφίησιν leaves τά the πρόβατα sheep, καί and φεύγει— flees — καί and ὁ the λύκος wolf ἁρπάζει snatches αὐτά them καί and σκορπίζει— scatters — ὅτι because μισθωτός a hired servant ἐστίν he is, καί and οὐ not μέλει is himself concerned αὐτῷ to him περί about τῶν the προβάτων. sheep.
Ἐγώ I εἰμί am ὁ the ποιμήν shepherd ὁ - καλός good; καί and γινώσκω I know τά - ἐμά My own, καί and γινώσκουσι am known με I τά by ἐμά, Mine. καθώς As γινώσκει knows με Me ὁ the Πατήρ Father, κἀγώ I also γινώσκω know τόν the Πατέρα, Father; καί and τήν the ψυχήν life μου of Me τίθημι I lay down ὑπέρ for τῶν the προβάτων. sheep. καί And ἄλλα other πρόβατα sheep ἔχω I have, ἅ which οὐ not ἔστιν are ἐκ of τῆς the αὐλῆς fold ταύτης· this; κἀκεῖνα those also δεῖ it behooves με Me ἀγαγεῖν to bring, καί and τῆς the φωνῆς voice μου of Me ἀκούσουσιν, they will hear; καί and γενήσονται there will be μία one ποίμνη, flock, εἷς with one ποιμήν. shepherd.
Διά Because of τοῦτο this, με Me ὁ the Πατήρ Father ἀγαπᾷ loves, ὅτι because ἐγώ I τίθημι lay down τήν the ψυχήν life μου, of Me, ἵνα that πάλιν again λάβω I might take αὐτήν. it. οὐδείς No one αἴρει takes αὐτήν it ἀπ ̓ from ἐμοῦ, Me, ἀλλ ̓ but ἐγώ I τίθημι lay down αὐτήν it ἀπ ̓ of ἐμαυτοῦ. Myself. ἐξουσίαν Authority ἔχω I have θεῖναι to lay down αὐτήν, it, καί and ἐξουσίαν authority ἔχω I have πάλιν again λαβεῖν to take αὐτήν· it. ταύτην This τήν - ἐντολήν commandment ἔλαβον I received παρά from τοῦ the Πατρός Father μου. of Me.
Σχίσμα Division πάλιν again ἐγένετο there was ἐν among τοῖς the Ἰουδαίοις Jews διά on account of τούς the λόγους words τούτους. these. ἔλεγον Were saying δέ now πολλοί many ἐκ of αὐτῶν· them, Δαιμόνιον A demon ἔχει He has, καί and μαίνεται· is insane; τί why αὐτοῦ Him ἀκούετε; do you listen to? Ἄλλοι Others ἔλεγον· were saying, Ταῦτα These τά - ῥήματα sayings οὐ not ἔστιν are [those] δαιμονιζομένου· of one possessed by a demon. μή Not δαιμόνιον a demon δύναται is able τυφλῶν of [the] blind ὀφθαλμούς [the] eyes ἀνοῖξαι; to open?

Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Εἶπον I told ὑμῖν you, καί and οὐ not πιστεύετε· you believe. τά The ἔργα works ἅ that ἐγώ I ποιῶ do ἐν in τῷ the ὀνόματι name τοῦ of the Πατρός Father μου of Me, ταῦτα these μαρτυρεῖ bear witness περί concerning ἐμοῦ· Me. ἀλλά But ὑμεῖς you οὐ not πιστεύετε, believe, ὅτι because οὐ not ἐστέ you are ἐκ from among τῶν the προβάτων sheep τῶν - ἐμῶν. of Me. τά The πρόβατα sheep τά - ἐμά of Me, τῆς the φωνῆς voice μου of Me ἀκούουσιν, hear, κἀγώ and I γινώσκω know αὐτά them, καί and ἀκολουθοῦσιν they follow μοι, Me; κἀγώ and I δίδωμι give αὐτοῖς them ζωήν life αἰώνιον eternal; καί and οὐ never μή not ἀπόλωνται shall they perish, εἰς to τόν the αἰῶνα age, καί and οὐ never ἁρπάσει will seize τὶς anyone αὐτά them ἐκ out of τῆς the χειρός hand μου. of Me. ὁ The Πατήρ Father μου of Me ὅ who δέδωκεν has given [them] μοι to Me, πάντων than all μεῖζον greater ἐστίν, is, καί and οὐδείς no one δύναται is able ἁρπάζειν to seize [them] ἐκ out of τῆς the χειρός hand τοῦ the Πατρός. Father. ἐγώ I καί and ὁ the Πατήρ Father ἕν one ἐσμέν. are.
Ἐβάστασαν Took up πάλιν again λίθους stones οἱ the Ἰουδαῖοι Jews, ἵνα that λιθάσωσιν they might stone αὐτόν. Him. ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Πολλά Many ἔργα works καλά good ἔδειξα I have shown ὑμῖν you ἐκ from τοῦ the Πατρός· Father; διά because of ποῖον which αὐτῶν of these ἔργον work, ἐμέ Me λιθάζετε; do you stone? Ἀπεκρίθησαν Answered αὐτῷ Him οἱ the Ἰουδαῖοι· Jews, Περί For καλοῦ a good ἔργου work οὐ not λιθάζομεν we do stone σε You, ἀλλά but περί for βλασφημίας, blasphemy, καί and ὅτι because σύ You, ἄνθρωπος a man ὤν being, ποιεῖς make σεαυτόν yourself Θεόν. God. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, οὐκ Not ἔστιν is it γεγραμμένον written ἐν in τῷ the νόμῳ law ὑμῶν of you ὅτι -: Ἐγώ I εἶπα· said Θεοί gods ἐστέ; you are’ εἰ If ἐκείνους them εἶπεν he called θεούς gods, πρός to οὕς whom ὁ the λόγος word τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ἐγένετο, came, καί and οὐ not δύναται is able λυθῆναι to be broken ἡ the γραφή, Scripture, ὅν [of Him] whom ὁ the Πατήρ Father ἡγίασεν sanctified καί and ἀπέστειλεν sent εἰς into τόν the κόσμον world, ὑμεῖς you λέγετε do say ὅτι -, Βλασφημεῖς, You blaspheme, ὅτι because εἶπον· I said, Υἱός Son τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God εἰμί; I am’? εἰ If οὐ not ποιῶ I do τά the ἔργα works τοῦ of the Πατρός Father μου, of Me, μή not πιστεύετε believe μοι· Me. εἰ If δέ however ποιῶ, I do, κἄν even if ἐμοί Me μή not πιστεύητε, you believe, τοῖς the ἔργοις works πιστεύετε, believe, ἵνα so that γνῶτε you may know καί and γινώσκητε may understand ὅτι that ἐν in ἐμοί Me [is] ὁ the Πατήρ Father, κἀγώ and I ἐν in τῷ the Πατρί. Father. Ἐζήτουν They were seeking οὖν therefore αὐτόν Him πάλιν again πιάσαι, to seize, καί but ἐξῆλθεν He went forth ἐκ out of τῆς the χειρός hand αὐτῶν. of them.
Καί And ἀπῆλθεν He departed πάλιν again πέραν beyond τοῦ the Ἰορδάνου Jordan, εἰς to τόν the τόπον place ὅπου where ἦν was Ἰωάννης John τό - πρῶτον at first βαπτίζων baptizing. καί And ἔμεινεν He stayed ἐκεῖ. there. καί And πολλοί many ἦλθον came πρός to αὐτόν Him καί and ἔλεγον were saying ὅτι -, Ἰωάννης John μέν indeed σημεῖον sign ἐποίησεν did οὐδέν, no; πάντα everything δέ however ὅσα that εἶπεν said Ἰωάννης John περί about τούτου this [man], ἀληθῆ true ἦν. was. καί And πολλοί many ἐπίστευσαν believed εἰς in αὐτόν Him ἐκεῖ. there.
