Ἔφη· He was saying, Ἐγώ I [am] φωνή a voice βοῶντος crying ἐν in τῇ the ἐρήμῳ· wilderness, Εὐθύνατε Make straight τήν the ὁδόν way Κυρίου, of [the] Lord,’”
καθώς as εἶπεν said Ἠσαΐας Isaiah ὁ the προφήτης. prophet.
Καί And ἀπεσταλμένοι [those] having been sent ἦσαν were ἐκ out from τῶν the Φαρισαίων. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰωάννης John λέγων· saying, Ἐγώ I βαπτίζω baptize ἐν with ὕδατι· water; μέσος but in [the] midst ὑμῶν of you ἕστηκεν stands [One] ὅν whom ὑμεῖς you οὐ not οἴδατε, know, ὁ the [One] ὀπίσω after μου me ἐρχόμενος, coming, οὗ of whom οὐ not εἰμί am ἐγώ I ἄξιος worthy ἵνα that λύσω I should untie αὐτοῦ of Him τόν the ἱμάντα strap τοῦ of the ὑποδήματος. sandal. Τῇ On the ἐπαύριον next day βλέπει he sees τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus ἐρχόμενον coming πρός to αὐτόν him καί and λέγει· says, Ἴδε Behold ὁ the Ἀμνός Lamb τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, ὁ - αἴρων taking away τήν the ἁμαρτίαν sin τοῦ of the κόσμου. world. οὗτος He ἐστίν it is ὑπέρ concerning οὗ whom ἐγώ I εἶπον· said, Ὀπίσω After μου me ἔρχεται comes ἀνήρ a man, ὅς who ἔμπροσθεν precedence μου over me γέγονεν, has, ὅτι because πρῶτος before μου me ἦν. Καί And ἐμαρτύρησεν bore witness Ἰωάννης John λέγων saying ὅτι -, Τεθέαμαι I have beheld τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit, καταβαῖνον descending ὡς as περιστεράν a dove ἐκ out of οὐρανοῦ heaven, καί and ἔμεινεν it remained ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτόν. Him. κἀγώ And I οὐ not ᾔδειν knew αὐτόν, Him; ἀλλ ̓ but ὁ the [One] πέμψας having sent με me βαπτίζειν to baptize ἐν with ὕδατι water, ἐκεῖνος He μοι to me εἶπεν· said, Ἐφ ̓ Upon ὅν whom ἄν - ἴδῃς you shall see τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit καταβαῖνον descending καί and μένον abiding ἐπ ̓ on αὐτόν, Him, οὗτος He ἐστίν is ὁ the [One] βαπτίζων baptizing ἐν with Πνεύματι [the] Spirit Ἁγίῳ. Holy. κἀγώ And I ἑώρακα have seen καί and μεμαρτύρηκα have borne witness ὅτι that οὗτος this ἐστίν is ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God.
Τῇ On the ἐπαύριον next day πάλιν again εἱστήκει was standing ὁ - Ἰωάννης John, καί and ἐκ of τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ of him δύο two. καί And ἐμβλέψας having looked at τῷ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus περιπατοῦντι walking, λέγει· he says, Ἴδε Behold ὁ the Ἀμνός Lamb τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God! καί And ἤκουσαν heard οἱ the δύο two μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ him λαλοῦντος speaking, καί and ἠκολούθησαν followed τῷ - Ἰησοῦ. Στραφείς Having turned δέ then ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, καί and θεασάμενος having beheld αὐτούς them ἀκολουθοῦντας following, λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Τί What ζητεῖτε; seek you? οἱ - δέ And εἶπαν they said αὐτῷ· to Him, Ῥαββί, Rabbi ὅ which λέγεται is to say, μεθερμηνευόμενον being translated, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher — Ποῦ where μένεις; are You staying? Λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἔρχεσθε Come καί and ὄψεσθε. you will see. ἦλθαν They went οὖν therefore καί and εἶδαν saw ποῦ where μένει He abides; καί and παρ ̓ with αὐτῷ Him ἔμειναν they stayed τήν the ἡμέραν day ἐκείνην· that. ὥρα [The] hour ἦν was ὡς about δεκάτη. Ἦν Was Ἀνδρέας Andrew, ὁ the ἀδελφός brother Σίμωνος of Simon Πέτρου Peter, εἷς one ἐκ of τῶν the δύο two τῶν - ἀκουσάντων having heard παρά from Ἰωάννου John, καί and ἀκολουθησάντων having followed αὐτῷ· Him. εὑρίσκει Finds οὗτος he πρῶτον first τόν the ἀδελφόν brother τόν - ἴδιον own Σίμωνα Simon, καί and λέγει he says αὐτῷ· to him, Εὑρήκαμεν We have found τόν the Μεσσίαν, Messiah, ὅ which ἐστίν is μεθερμηνευόμενον translated Χριστός. Christ. ἤγαγεν He led αὐτόν him πρός to τόν - Ἰησοῦν. Jesus. ἐμβλέψας Having looked at αὐτῷ him, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν· said, Σύ You εἶ are Σίμων Simon ὁ the υἱός son Ἰωάννου, of John; σύ You κληθήσῃ will be called Κηφᾶς, Cephas ὅ which ἑρμηνεύεται means Πέτρος. Τῇ On the ἐπαύριον next day ἠθέλησεν He desired ἐξελθεῖν to go forth εἰς into τήν - Γαλιλαίαν Galilee. καί And εὑρίσκει He finds Φίλιππον. Philip. καί And λέγει says αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἀκολούθει Follow μοι. Me. ἦν Was δέ now ὁ - Φίλιππος Philip ἀπό from Βηθσαϊδά, Bethsaida, ἐκ from τῆς the πόλεως city Ἀνδρέου of Andrew καί and Πέτρου. Peter. Εὑρίσκει Finds Φίλιππος Philip τόν - Ναθαναήλ Nathanael καί and λέγει says αὐτῷ· to him, Ὅν [Him] whom ἔγραψεν wrote of Μωϋσῆς Moses ἐν in τῷ the νόμῳ Law, καί also οἱ the προφῆται prophets, εὑρήκαμεν, we have found, Ἰησοῦν Jesus υἱόν son τοῦ - Ἰωσήφ of Joseph, τόν - ἀπό of Ναζαρέτ. Nazareth. Καί And εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him Ναθαναήλ· Nathanael, ἐκ Out of Ναζαρέτ Nazareth δύναται is able τὶ any ἀγαθόν good thing εἶναι; to be? Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Φίλιππος· Philip, Ἔρχου Come καί and ἴδε. see. Εἶδεν Saw ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus τόν - Ναθαναήλ Nathanael ἐρχόμενον coming πρός to αὐτόν Him, καί and λέγει He says περί concerning αὐτοῦ· him, Ἴδε Behold ἀληθῶς truly Ἰσραηλίτης an Israelite, ἐν in ᾧ whom δόλος deceit οὐ not ἔστιν. there is. Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to Him Ναθαναήλ· Nathanael, Πόθεν From where με me γινώσκεις; know You? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered Ἰησοῦς Jesus καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Πρό Before τοῦ - σε you Φίλιππον Philip φωνῆσαι calling, ὄντα being ὑπό under τήν the συκῆν fig tree, εἶδον I saw σε. you. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered αὐτῷ Him Ναθαναήλ· Nathanael, Ῥαββί, Rabbi, σύ You εἶ are ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - Θεοῦ, of God; σύ You Βασιλεύς King εἶ are τοῦ - Ἰσραήλ. of Israel. Ἀπεκρίθη Answered Ἰησοῦς Jesus καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Ὅτι Because εἶπον I said σοι to you ὅτι that εἶδον I saw σε you ὑποκάτω under τῆς the συκῆς, fig tree, πιστεύεις; believe you? μείζω Greater things τούτων than these ὄψῃ. You will see. καί And λέγει He says αὐτῷ· to him, Ἀμήν Truly, ἀμήν truly, λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to all of you, ὄψεσθε you will see τόν the οὐρανόν heaven ἀνεῳγότα opened καί and τούς the ἀγγέλους angels τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ἀναβαίνοντας ascending καί and καταβαίνοντας descending ἐπί on τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου. of Man.”
Καί And τῇ on the ἡμέρᾳ day τῇ - τρίτῃ third γάμος a wedding ἐγένετο took place ἐν in Κανά Cana τῆς - Γαλιλαίας, of Galilee, καί and ἦν was ἡ the μήτηρ mother τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ of Jesus ἐκεῖ· there. ἐκλήθη Was invited δέ then καί also ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus καί and οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him εἰς to τόν the γάμον. wedding. καί And ὑστερήσαντος having been deficient οἴνου of wine, λέγει says ἡ the μήτηρ mother τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ of Jesus πρός to αὐτόν· Him, Οἶνον Wine οὐ not ἔχουσιν. they have. Καί And λέγει says αὐτῇ to her ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Τί What ἐμοί to Me καί and σοί, to you, γύναι; woman? οὔπω Not yet ἥκει is come ἡ the ὥρα hour μου. of Me. Λέγει Says ἡ the μήτηρ mother αὐτοῦ of Him τοῖς to the διακόνοις· servants, Ὅ Whatever τὶ anyhow ἄν - λέγῃ He may say ὑμῖν to you, ποιήσατε. do. Ἦσαν There were δέ now ἐκεῖ there λίθιναι of stone, ὑδρίαι water jars ἕξ six, κατά according to τόν the καθαρισμόν purification τῶν of the Ἰουδαίων Jews, κείμεναι, standing, χωροῦσαι having space ἀνά for μετρητάς metretae δύο two ἤ or τρεῖς. three. λέγει Says αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Γεμίσατε Fill τάς the ὑδρίας jars ὕδατος. with water. Καί And λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀντλήσατε Draw out νῦν now καί and φέρετε carry τῷ to the ἀρχιτρικλίνῳ· master of the feast. οἱ - δέ And ἤνεγκαν. they carried [it]. ὡς When δέ then ἐγεύσατο had tasted ὁ the ἀρχιτρίκλινος master of the feast τό the ὕδωρ water οἶνον wine γεγενημένον having become, καί and οὐ not ᾔδει he knew πόθεν from where ἐστίν, it is — οἱ the δέ however διάκονοι servants ᾔδεισαν knew οἱ - ἠντληκότες having drawn τό the ὕδωρ, water — φωνεῖ calls τόν the νυμφίον bridegroom ὁ the ἀρχιτρίκλινος master of the feast καί and λέγει says αὐτῷ· to him, Πᾶς Every ἄνθρωπος man πρῶτον first τόν the καλόν good οἶνον wine τίθησιν sets out, καί and ὅταν when μεθυσθῶσιν they might have drunk freely, τόν the ἐλάσσω· inferior; σύ you τετήρηκας have kept τόν the καλόν good οἶνον wine ἕως until ἄρτι. now. Ταύτην This ἐποίησεν did, ἀρχήν [the] beginning τῶν of the σημείων signs, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐν in Κανά Cana τῆς - Γαλιλαίας of Galilee, καί and ἐφανέρωσεν He revealed τήν the δόξαν glory αὐτοῦ, of Him, καί and ἐπίστευσαν believed εἰς in αὐτόν Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ. of Him.
Μετά After τοῦτο this κατέβη He went down εἰς to Καφαρναούμ Capernaum, αὐτός He καί and ἡ the μήτηρ mother αὐτοῦ of Him καί and οἱ the ἀδελφοί brothers αὐτοῦ of Him καί and οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, καί and ἐκεῖ there ἔμειναν they stayed οὐ not πολλάς many ἡμέρας. days.
