ἐν In ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ἡμέρᾳ day, ὅς the [one who] ἔσται will be ἐπί on τοῦ the δώματος housetop, καί and τά the σκεύη goods αὐτοῦ of him ἐν in τῇ the οἰκίᾳ, house, μή not καταβάτω let him come down ἆραι to take away αὐτά, them; καί and ὁ the [one] ἐν in ἀγρῷ [the] field, ὁμοίως likewise μή not ἐπιστρεψάτω let him return εἰς to τά the things ὀπίσω. behind. μνημονεύετε Remember τῆς the γυναικός wife Λώτ. of Lot! ὅς Whoever ἐάν if ζητήσῃ may seek τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of him περιποιήσασθαι to save, ἀπολέσει will lose αὐτήν, it; ὅς whoever δ ̓ also ἄν - ἀπολέσῃ will lose [it], ζωογονήσει will preserve αὐτήν. it. λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ταύτῃ in that τῇ - νυκτί night ἔσονται there will be δύο two ἐπί upon κλίνης bed μιᾶς, one: ὁ The εἷς one παραλημφθήσεται will be taken, καί and ὁ the ἕτερος other ἀφεθήσεται· will be left. ἔσονται There will be δύο two [women] ἀλήθουσαι grinding ἐπί at τό the αὐτό, same [place]: ἡ The μία one παραλημφθήσεται, will be taken, ἡ - δέ and ἑτέρα the other ἀφεθήσεται. will be left.” Καί And ἀποκριθέντες answering, λέγουσιν they say αὐτῷ· to Him, Ποῦ, Where, Κύριε; Lord? ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Ὅπου Where τό the σῶμα, body [is], ἐκεῖ there καί also οἱ the ἀετοί vultures ἐπισυναχθήσονται. will be gathered together.
Ἔλεγεν He was speaking δέ then παραβολήν a parable αὐτοῖς to them πρός about τό the [way] δεῖν it behooves πάντοτε always προσεύχεσθαι to pray αὐτούς them καί and μή not ἐνκακεῖν, to lose heart, λέγων· saying, Κριτής A judge τὶς certain ἦν there was ἔν in τινί a certain πόλει city, τόν - Θεόν God μή not φοβούμενος fearing καί and ἄνθρωπον man μή not ἐντρεπόμενος. respecting. χήρα A widow δέ then ἦν there was ἐν in τῇ the πόλει city ἐκείνῃ that, καί and ἤρχετο she was coming πρός to αὐτόν him, λέγουσα· saying, Ἐκδίκησον Avenge με me ἀπό of τοῦ the ἀντιδίκου adversary μου. of me. Καί And οὐ not ἤθελεν he would ἐπί for χρόνον. a time; μετά afterward ταῦτα he δέ however εἶπεν said ἐν within ἑαυτῷ· himself, εἰ If καί even τόν - Θεόν God οὐ not φοβοῦμαι I fear, οὐδέ nor ἄνθρωπον man ἐντρέπομαι, respect, διά because γέ yet τό - παρέχειν causes μοι me κόπον trouble τήν the χήραν widow ταύτην this, ἐκδικήσω I will avenge αὐτήν, her, ἵνα so that μή not εἰς to τέλος end ἐρχομένη coming, ὑπωπιάζῃ she exhaust με. me. Εἶπεν Said δέ then ὁ the Κύριος· Lord, Ἀκούσατε Hear τί what ὁ the κριτής judge τῆς - ἀδικίας unrighteous λέγει· says. ὁ - δέ And Θεός God οὐ no μή not ποιήσῃ shall execute τήν the ἐκδίκησιν avenging τῶν of the ἐκλεκτῶν elect αὐτοῦ of Him, τῶν the [ones] βοώντων crying out αὐτῷ to Him ἡμέρας day καί and νυκτός, night, καί and μακροθυμεῖ be deferring ἐπ ̓ in regard to αὐτοῖς; them? λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that ποιήσει He will execute τήν the ἐκδίκησιν avenging αὐτῶν of them ἐν in τάχει. quickness. πλήν Nevertheless, ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐλθών having come, ἆρα indeed εὑρήσει will He find τήν - πίστιν faith ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς; earth?
Εἶπεν He spoke δέ now καί also πρός to τινάς some τούς - πεποιθότας trusting ἐφ ̓ in ἑαυτοῖς themselves ὅτι that εἰσίν they are δίκαιοι righteous, καί and ἐξουθενοῦντας despising τούς the λοιπούς others, τήν the παραβολήν parable ταύτην· this: Ἄνθρωποι Men δύο two ἀνέβησαν went up εἰς into τό the ἱερόν temple προσεύξασθαι, to pray, ὁ the εἷς one Φαρισαῖος a Pharisee, καί and ὁ the ἕτερος other τελώνης. a tax collector. ὁ The Φαρισαῖος Pharisee, σταθείς having stood, πρός toward ἑαυτόν himself ταῦτα thus προσηύχετο· was praying, ὁ - Θεός, God, εὐχαριστῶ I thank σοι You ὅτι that οὐ not εἰμί I am ὥσπερ like οἱ the λοιποί rest τῶν of the ἀνθρώπων, men — ἅρπαγες, swindlers, ἄδικοι, unrighteous, μοιχοί, adulterers — ἤ or καί even ὡς like οὗτος this ὁ - τελώνης· tax collector. νηστεύω I fast δίς twice τοῦ in the σαββάτου, week; ἀποδεκατῶ I tithe πάντα all things, ὅσα as many as κτῶμαι. I gain. ὁ - δέ But τελώνης the tax collector, μακρόθεν afar off ἑστώς standing, οὐ not ἤθελεν was willing οὐδέ not even τούς the ὀφθαλμούς eyes ἐπᾶραι to lift up εἰς to τόν - οὐρανόν, heaven, ἀλλ ̓ but ἔτυπτεν was striking τό the στῆθος breast αὐτοῦ of himself, λέγων· saying ὁ -, Θεός, God, ἱλάσθητι be merciful μοι to me, τῷ the ἁμαρτωλῷ. sinner! λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, κατέβη went down οὗτος this one δεδικαιωμένος justified εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house αὐτοῦ of him, παρ ̓ rather than ἐκεῖνον· that. ὅτι For πᾶς everyone ὁ - ὑψῶν exalting ἑαυτόν himself ταπεινωθήσεται, will be humbled; ὁ the [one] δέ however ταπεινῶν humbling ἑαυτόν himself ὑψωθήσεται. will be exalted.
Προσέφερον They were bringing δέ then αὐτῷ to Him καί also τά the βρέφη infants, ἵνα that αὐτῶν them ἅπτηται· He might touch; ἰδόντες having seen δέ however, οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ἐπετίμων were rebuking αὐτοῖς. them. ὁ - δέ But Ἰησοῦς Jesus, προσεκαλέσατο having called to [Him] αὐτά them, λέγων· said, Ἄφετε Permit τά the παιδία little children ἔρχεσθαι to come πρός to με Me, καί and μή not κωλύετε do forbid αὐτά, them; τῶν of the γάρ for τοιούτων such ἐστίν is ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ὅς whoever ἄν - μή not δέξηται shall receive τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ὡς as παιδίον, a child, οὐ no μή not εἰσέλθῃ shall enter εἰς into αὐτήν. it.
Καί And ἐπηρώτησεν asked τὶς a certain αὐτόν Him ἄρχων ruler, λέγων· saying, Διδάσκαλε Teacher ἀγαθέ, good, τί what ποιήσας having done, ζωήν life αἰώνιον eternal κληρονομήσω; will I inherit? Εἶπεν Said δέ then αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Τί Why με Me λέγεις call you ἀγαθόν; good? οὐδείς No one [is] ἀγαθός good, εἰ if μή not εἷς alone ὁ - Θεός. God. τάς The ἐντολάς commandments οἶδας· You know: Μή Not μοιχεύσῃς, shall you commit adultery, Μή not φονεύσῃς, shall you murder, Μή not κλέψῃς, shall you steal, Μή not ψευδομαρτυρήσῃς, shall you bear false witness, Τίμα you shall honor τόν the πατέρα father σου of you καί and τήν the μητέρα. mother.’ ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν· he said, Ταῦτα These πάντα all ἐφύλαξα have I kept ἐκ from νεότητος. [the] youth Ἀκούσας Having heard δέ then, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἔτι Yet ἕν one thing σοι to you λείπει· is lacking: πάντα All, ὅσα as much as ἔχεις you have, πώλησον sell, καί and διάδος distribute πτωχοῖς, to [the] poor, καί and ἕξεις you will have θησαυρόν treasure ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς, heavens; καί and δεῦρο come, ἀκολούθει follow μοι. Me. ὁ - δέ And ἀκούσας having heard ταῦτα these things, περίλυπος very sorrowful ἐγενήθη· he became; ἦν he was γάρ for πλούσιος rich σφόδρα. extremely.
Ἰδών Having seen δέ then αὐτόν him, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus περίλυπον sorrowful γενόμενον became, εἶπεν· saying, Πῶς How δυσκόλως difficultly οἱ those τά - χρήματα riches ἔχοντες having, εἰς into τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God εἰσπορεύονται· shall enter. εὐκοπώτερον Easier γάρ for ἐστίν it is κάμηλον a camel διά through τρήματος an eye βελόνης of a needle εἰσελθεῖν to go, ἤ than πλούσιον a rich man εἰς into τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God εἰσελθεῖν. to enter. Εἶπαν Said δέ then οἱ those ἀκούσαντες· having heard, Καί Then τίς who δύναται is able σωθῆναι; to be saved? ὁ - δέ But εἶπεν· He said, Τά The things ἀδύνατα impossible παρά with ἀνθρώποις men, δυνατά possible παρά with τῷ - Θεῷ God ἐστίν. are.
Εἶπεν Said δέ then ὁ - Πέτρος· Peter, Ἰδού Behold, ἡμεῖς we ἀφέντες having left τά the ἴδια own, ἠκολουθήσαμεν followed σοι. You. ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that οὐδείς no one ἐστίν there is ὅς who ἀφῆκεν has left οἰκίαν house ἤ or γυναῖκα wife ἤ or ἀδελφούς brothers ἤ or γονεῖς parents ἤ or τέκνα children ἕνεκεν for the sake of τῆς the βασιλείας kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ, of God, ὅς who οὐχί no μή nothing ἀπολάβῃ shall receive πολλαπλασίονα manifold more ἐν in τῷ the καιρῷ time τούτῳ this — καί and ἐν in τῷ the αἰῶνι age τῷ that ἐρχομένῳ is coming, ζωήν life αἰώνιον. eternal.
Παραλαβών Having taken aside δέ then τούς the δώδεκα Twelve, εἶπεν He said πρός to αὐτούς· them, Ἰδού Behold, ἀναβαίνομεν we go up εἰς to Ἰερουσαλήμ, Jerusalem, καί and τελεσθήσεται will be accomplished πάντα all things τά - γεγραμμένα having been written διά by τῶν the προφητῶν prophets τῷ about the Υἱῷ Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου· of Man. παραδοθήσεται He will be betrayed γάρ for τοῖς to the ἔθνεσιν Gentiles, καί and ἐμπαιχθήσεται will be mocked, καί and ὑβρισθήσεται will be insulted, καί and ἐμπτυσθήσεται will be spit upon. καί And μαστιγώσαντες having flogged [Him], ἀποκτενοῦσιν they will kill αὐτόν, Him; καί and τῇ on the ἡμέρᾳ day τῇ - τρίτῃ third ἀναστήσεται. He will rise again. Καί And αὐτοί they οὐδέν none τούτων of these things συνῆκαν understood; καί and ἦν was τό the ῥῆμα word τοῦτο this κεκρυμμένον hidden ἀπ ̓ from αὐτῶν them, καί and οὐ neither ἐγίνωσκον they knew τά the things λεγόμενα. being spoken.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then ἐν in τῷ the ἐγγίζειν drawing near αὐτόν of Him εἰς to Ἰεριχώ Jericho, τυφλός a blind [man] τὶς certain ἐκάθητο was sitting παρά beside τήν the ὁδόν road, ἐπαιτῶν. begging. ἀκούσας Having heard δέ now ὄχλου a crowd διαπορευομένου passing along, ἐπυνθάνετο he was asking τί what εἴη might be τοῦτο. this. Ἀπήγγειλαν They told δέ then αὐτῷ him ὅτι -, Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὁ of Ναζωραῖος Nazareth παρέρχεται. is passing by. Καί And ἐβόησεν he called out λέγων· saying, Ἰησοῦ Jesus, υἱέ Son Δαυίδ, of David, ἐλέησον have mercy on με. me. Καί And οἱ those προάγοντες going before ἐπετίμων were rebuking αὐτῷ him, ἵνα that σιγήσῃ, he should be silent. αὐτός He δέ however πολλῷ much μᾶλλον more ἔκραζεν· kept crying out, Υἱέ Son Δαυίδ, of David, ἐλέησον have mercy on με. me. Σταθείς Having stopped δέ then, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐκέλευσεν commanded αὐτόν him ἀχθῆναι to be brought πρός to αὐτόν. Him. ἐγγίσαντος Having drawn near δέ then αὐτοῦ him, ἐπηρώτησεν He asked αὐτόν· him, Τί What σοι to you θέλεις desire you ποιήσω; I shall do? ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν· he said, Κύριε, Lord, ἵνα that ἀναβλέψω. I might receive sight. Καί And ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἀνάβλεψον· Receive sight! ἡ The πίστις faith σου of you σέσωκεν has healed σε. you. καί And παραχρῆμα immediately ἀνέβλεψεν he received sight καί and ἠκολούθει began following αὐτῷ Him, δοξάζων glorifying τόν - Θεόν. God. καί And πᾶς all ὁ the λαός people, ἰδών having seen [it], ἔδωκεν gave αἶνον praise τῷ - Θεῷ. to God.
Καί And εἰσελθών having entered, διήρχετο He was passing through τήν - Ἰεριχώ. Jericho. Καί And ἰδού behold, ἀνήρ a man ὀνόματι by name καλούμενος called Ζακχαῖος, Zacchaeus, καί and αὐτός he ἦν was ἀρχιτελώνης a chief tax collector, καί and αὐτός he [was] πλούσιος· rich. καί And ἐζήτει he was seeking ἰδεῖν to see τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus, τίς who ἐστίν He is, καί and οὐ not ἠδύνατο he was able ἀπό because of τοῦ the ὄχλου, crowd, ὅτι because τῇ - ἡλικίᾳ in stature μικρός small ἦν. he was. καί And προδραμών having run εἰς to τό the ἔμπροσθεν front ἀνέβη he went up ἐπί into συκομορέαν a sycamore-fig tree, ἵνα so that ἴδῃ he might see αὐτόν Him, ὅτι for ἐκείνης that [way] ἤμελλεν He was about διέρχεσθαι. to pass. Καί And ὡς as ἦλθεν He came ἐπί to τόν the τόπον, place, ἀναβλέψας having looked up, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said πρός to αὐτόν· him, Ζακχαῖε, Zacchaeus, σπεύσας having hurried κατάβηθι, come down; σήμερον today γάρ for ἐν in τῷ the οἴκῳ house σου of you δεῖ it behooves με Me μεῖναι. to stay. Καί And σπεύσας having hurried, κατέβη he came down καί and ὑπεδέξατο received αὐτόν Him, χαίρων. rejoicing. καί And ἰδόντες having seen [it], πάντες all διεγόγγυζον were grumbling, λέγοντες saying ὅτι -, Παρά With ἁμαρτωλῷ a sinful ἀνδρί man εἰσῆλθεν He has entered καταλῦσαι. to stay. Σταθείς Having stood δέ then, Ζακχαῖος Zacchaeus εἶπεν said πρός to τόν the Κύριον· Lord, Ἰδού Behold, τά the ἡμίσια half μου of me τῶν of the ὑπαρχόντων, possessions, Κύριε, Lord, τοῖς to the πτωχοῖς poor δίδωμι, I give; καί and εἴ if τινός of anyone τὶ anything ἐσυκοφάντησα I have defrauded, ἀποδίδωμι I restore [it] τετραπλοῦν. fourfold. Εἶπεν Said δέ then πρός to αὐτόν him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὅτι -, Σήμερον Today σωτηρία salvation τῷ to the οἴκῳ house τούτῳ this ἐγένετο, has come, καθότι because καί also αὐτός he υἱός a son Ἀβραάμ of Abraham ἐστίν· is. ἦλθεν Came γάρ for ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ζητῆσαι to seek καί and σῶσαι to save τό that ἀπολωλός. having been lost.
Ἀκουόντων Were hearing δέ while αὐτῶν they ταῦτα these things, προσθείς having proceeded, εἶπεν He spoke παραβολήν a parable, διά because τό - ἐγγύς near εἶναι being Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem αὐτόν of His, καί and δοκεῖν thinking αὐτούς their ὅτι that παραχρῆμα immediately μέλλει is about ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ἀναφαίνεσθαι. to appear. εἶπεν He said οὖν· therefore, Ἄνθρωπος A man τὶς certain εὐγενής of noble birth ἐπορεύθη proceeded εἰς to χώραν a country μακράν distant, λαβεῖν to receive ἑαυτῷ for himself βασιλείαν a kingdom καί and ὑποστρέψαι. to return. καλέσας Having called δέ then δέκα ten δούλους servants ἑαυτοῦ of himself, ἔδωκεν he gave αὐτοῖς to them δέκα ten μνᾶς minas καί and εἶπεν said πρός to αὐτούς· them, Πραγματεύσασθε Do business ἐν until ᾧ that ἔρχομαι. I come back. οἱ - δέ But πολῖται the citizens αὐτοῦ of him ἐμίσουν hated αὐτόν him καί and ἀπέστειλαν sent πρεσβείαν a delegation ὀπίσω after αὐτοῦ him, λέγοντες· saying, οὐ Not θέλομεν we are willing [for] τοῦτον this [man] βασιλεῦσαι to reign ἐφ ̓ over ἡμᾶς. us. Καί And ἐγένετο it came to pass ἐν on τῷ the ἐπανελθεῖν returning αὐτόν of him, λαβόντα having received τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom, καί that εἶπεν he directed φωνηθῆναι to be called αὐτῷ to him τούς the δούλους servants τούτους these οἷς to whom δεδώκει he had given τό the ἀργύριον, money, ἵνα in order that γνοῖ he might know τί what διεπραγματεύσαντο. they had gained by trading.
