καί And πᾶς everyone ὅς who ἐρεῖ will speak λόγον a word εἰς against τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου, of Man, ἀφεθήσεται it will be forgiven αὐτῷ· him; τῷ the [one] δέ however εἰς against τό the Ἅγιον Holy Πνεῦμα Spirit βλασφημήσαντι having blasphemed, οὐ not ἀφεθήσεται. will be forgiven.
Ὅταν When δέ then εἰσφέρωσιν they bring ὑμᾶς you ἐπί before τάς the συναγωγάς synagogues, καί and τάς the ἀρχάς rulers, καί and τάς the ἐξουσίας, authorities, μή not μεριμνήσητε be anxious πῶς how ἤ or τί what ἀπολογήσησθε you shall reply in defense, ἤ or τί what εἴπητε· you should say; τό the γάρ for Ἅγιον Holy Πνεῦμα Spirit διδάξει will teach ὑμᾶς you ἐν in αὐτῇ same τῇ the ὥρᾳ hour ἅ what δεῖ it behooves [you] εἰπεῖν. to say.
Εἶπεν Said δέ then τὶς one ἐκ from τοῦ the ὄχλου crowd αὐτῷ· to Him, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, εἰπέ say τῷ to the ἀδελφῷ brother μου of me μερίσασθαι to divide μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ me τήν the κληρονομίαν. inheritance. ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἄνθρωπε, Man, τίς who με Me κατέστησεν appointed κριτήν a judge ἤ or μεριστήν partitioner ἐφ ̓ over ὑμᾶς; you? εἶπεν He said δέ then πρός to αὐτούς· them, Ὁρᾶτε Beware καί and φυλάσσεσθε keep yourselves ἀπό from πάσης all πλεονεξίας, covetousness; ὅτι for οὐ not ἐν in τῷ the περισσεύειν abundance τινί to anyone, ἡ the ζωή life αὐτοῦ to him ἐστίν is ἐκ of τῶν that which ὑπαρχόντων possesses αὐτῷ. of him.
Εἶπεν He spoke δέ then παραβολήν a parable πρός to αὐτούς them, λέγων· saying, Ἀνθρώπου Of a man τινός certain πλουσίου rich εὐφόρησεν brought forth abundantly ἡ the χώρα. ground. καί And διελογίζετο he was reasoning ἐν within ἑαυτῷ himself, λέγων· saying, Τί What ποιήσω, shall I do, ὅτι for οὐ not ἔχω I have ποῦ where συνάξω I will store up τούς the καρπούς fruits μου; of me? καί And εἶπεν· he said, Τοῦτο This ποιήσω, will I do: καθελῶ I will tear down μου my τάς - ἀποθήκας barns καί and μείζονας greater οἰκοδομήσω will build, καί and συνάξω will store up ἐκεῖ there πάντα all τόν the σῖτον grain καί and τά the ἀγαθά goods μου of me. καί And ἐρῶ I will say τῇ to the ψυχῇ soul μου· of me, Ψυχή, Soul, ἔχεις you have πολλά many ἀγαθά good things κείμενα laid up εἰς for ἔτη years πολλά· many; ἀναπαύου, take your rest; φάγε, eat, πίε, drink, εὐφραίνου. be merry. Εἶπεν Said δέ then αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Θεός· God, Ἄφρων, Fool! ταύτῃ This τῇ - νυκτί night, τήν the ψυχήν soul σου of you ἀπαιτοῦσιν is required ἀπό of σοῦ· you; ἅ what δέ now ἡτοίμασας, you did prepare — τίνι to whom ἔσται; will [it] be? Οὕτως So [is] ὁ the [one] θησαυρίζων treasuring up ἑαυτῷ for himself, καί and μή not εἰς toward Θεόν God πλουτῶν. being rich.
Εἶπεν He said δέ then πρός to τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Διά Because of τοῦτο this λέγω I say ὑμῖν· to you, μή not μεριμνᾶτε be anxious τῇ for the ψυχῇ life, τί what φάγητε, you should eat, μηδέ nor τῷ for the σώματι body τί what ἐνδύσησθε. you should put on. ἡ The γάρ for ψυχή life πλεῖον more than ἐστίν is τῆς the τροφῆς food, καί and τό the σῶμα body τοῦ than the ἐνδύματος. clothing. κατανοήσατε Consider τούς the κόρακας ravens, ὅτι that οὐ not σπείρουσιν they sow οὐδέ nor θερίζουσιν, reap; οἷς to them οὐ not ἔστιν there is ταμεῖον a storehouse οὐδέ nor ἀποθήκη, barn — καί and ὁ - Θεός God τρέφει feeds αὐτούς· them. πόσῳ How much μᾶλλον more ὑμεῖς you διαφέρετε are valuable τῶν than the πετεινῶν. birds! τίς Which δέ now ἐκ of ὑμῶν you, μεριμνῶν being anxious, δύναται is able ἐπί to τήν the ἡλικίαν lifespan αὐτοῦ of him προσθεῖναι to add πῆχυν; one hour? εἰ If οὖν then οὐδέ not even ἐλάχιστον [the] least δύνασθε, you are able [to do], τί why περί about τῶν the λοιπῶν rest μεριμνᾶτε; are you anxious? Πῦρ Fire ἦλθον I came βαλεῖν to cast ἐπί upon τήν the γῆν, earth, καί and τί how θέλω I wish εἰ if ἤδη already ἀνήφθη. it be kindled! βάπτισμα Baptism δέ however ἔχω I have βαπτισθῆναι, to be baptized [with], καί and πῶς how συνέχομαι I am distressed ἕως until ὅτου while τελεσθῇ. it should be accomplished! Δοκεῖτε Think you ὅτι that εἰρήνην peace παρεγενόμην I came δοῦναι to give ἐν on τῇ the γῇ; earth? οὐχί, No, λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ἀλλ ̓ but ἤ rather διαμερισμόν. division. ἔσονται There will be γάρ for ἀπό from τοῦ - νῦν now πέντε five ἐν in ἑνί one οἴκῳ house διαμεμερισμένοι, divided, τρεῖς three ἐπί against δυσίν two, καί and δύο two ἐπί against τρισίν, three. διαμερισθήσονται They will be divided πατήρ father ἐπί against υἱῷ son καί and υἱός son ἐπί against πατρί, father, μήτηρ mother ἐπί against τήν - θυγατέρα daughter καί and θυγάτηρ daughter ἐπί against τήν - μητέρα, mother, πενθερά mother-in-law ἐπί against τήν the νύμφην daughter-in-law αὐτῆς of her καί and νύμφη daughter-in-law ἐπί against τήν - πενθεράν. mother-in-law. Τί Why δέ now καί even ἀφ ̓ for ἑαυτῶν yourselves οὐ not κρίνετε judge you τό what [is] δίκαιον; right? ὡς As γάρ for ὑπάγεις you are going μετά with τοῦ the ἀντιδίκου adversary σου of you ἐπ ̓ before ἄρχοντα, a magistrate, ἐν in τῇ the ὁδῷ way δός give ἐργασίαν earnestness ἀπηλλάχθαι to be set free ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ, him, μήποτε lest ever κατασύρῃ he should drag away σε you πρός to τόν the κριτήν, judge, καί and ὁ the κριτής judge σε you παραδώσει will deliver τῷ to the πράκτορι, officer, καί and ὁ the πράκτωρ officer σε you βαλεῖ will cast εἰς into φυλακήν. prison. λέγω I say σοι, to you, οὐ no μή not ἐξέλθῃς shall you come out ἐκεῖθεν, from there ἕως until καί even τό the ἔσχατον last λεπτόν lepton ἀποδῷς. you shall have paid.”
Παρῆσαν Were present δέ now τινές some ἐν at αὐτῷ the same τῷ - καιρῷ time, ἀπαγγέλλοντες telling αὐτῷ Him περί about τῶν the Γαλιλαίων Galileans ὧν of whom τό the αἷμα blood Πιλᾶτος Pilate ἔμιξεν had mingled μετά with τῶν the θυσιῶν sacrifices αὐτῶν. of them. καί And ἀποκριθείς answering, εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Δοκεῖτε Think you ὅτι that οἱ - Γαλιλαῖοι Galileans οὗτοι these, ἁμαρτωλοί sinners παρά beyond πάντας all τούς the Γαλιλαίους Galileans ἐγένοντο, were, ὅτι because ταῦτα such things πεπόνθασιν; they have suffered? οὐχί, No, λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you; ἀλλ ̓ but ἐάν if μή not μετανοῆτε you repent, πάντες all ὁμοίως likewise ἀπολεῖσθε. you will perish. ἤ Or ἐκεῖνοι those οἱ - δεκαοκτώ ten [and] eight ἐφ ̓ on οὕς whom ἔπεσεν fell ὁ the πύργος tower ἐν in τῷ - Σιλωάμ Siloam καί and ἀπέκτεινεν killed αὐτούς, them, δοκεῖτε think you ὅτι that αὐτοί these ὀφειλέται debtors ἐγένοντο were παρά beyond πάντας all τούς the ἀνθρώπους men τούς - κατοικοῦντας dwelling Ἰερουσαλήμ; in Jerusalem? οὐχί, No, λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you; ἀλλ ̓ but ἐάν if μή not μετανοῆτε you repent, πάντες all ὡσαύτως likewise ἀπολεῖσθε. you will perish.
Ἔλεγεν He was speaking δέ then ταύτην this τήν - παραβολήν· parable: Συκῆν A fig tree εἶχεν had τὶς a certain [man] πεφυτευμένην planted ἐν in τῷ the ἀμπελῶνι vineyard αὐτοῦ, of him; καί and ἦλθεν he came ζητῶν seeking καρπόν fruit ἐν on αὐτῇ it, καί and οὐ not εὗρεν. did find [any]. εἶπεν He said δέ then πρός to τόν the ἀμπελουργόν· vinedresser, Ἰδού Behold, τρία three ἔτη years ἀφ ̓ throughout οὗ these ἔρχομαι I come ζητῶν seeking καρπόν fruit ἐν on τῇ the συκῇ fig tree ταύτῃ this, καί and οὐ not εὑρίσκω· do find [any]. ἔκκοψον Cut down οὖν therefore αὐτήν, it, ἵνατι that why καί even τήν the γῆν ground καταργεῖ; should it use up? ὁ - δέ And ἀποκριθείς answering, λέγει he says αὐτῷ· to him, Κύριε, Sir, ἄφες let alone αὐτήν it καί also τοῦτο this τό the ἔτος, year, ἕως until ὅτου when σκάψω I shall dig περί around αὐτήν it, καί and βάλω put [in] κόπρια, manure, κἄν and if μέν indeed ποιήσῃ it should bear καρπόν fruit εἰς in τό the [time], μέλλον· so be it. εἰ If δέ however μή γέ, not, ἐκκόψεις you will cut down αὐτήν. it.
