Κἀκεῖθεν From there ἐξελθόντος having gone forth αὐτοῦ of Him, ἤρξαντο began οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes καί and οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees δεινῶς urgently ἐνέχειν to press upon [Him] καί and ἀποστοματίζειν to make speak αὐτόν Him περί about πλειόνων, many things, ἐνεδρεύοντες watching αὐτόν Him θηρεῦσαι to catch τὶ in something ἐκ out of τοῦ the στόματος mouth αὐτοῦ. of Him. ἐν In οἷς these [times], ἐπισυναχθεισῶν having been gathered together τῶν the μυριάδων myriads τοῦ of the ὄχλου, crowd ὥστε so as καταπατεῖν to trample upon ἀλλήλους, one another, ἤρξατο He began λέγειν to say πρός to τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him πρῶτον· first, Προσέχετε Take heed ἑαυτοῖς to yourselves ἀπό of τῆς the ζύμης, leaven, ἥτις which ἐστίν is ὑπόκρισις, hypocrisy, τῶν of the Φαρισαίων. Εἶπεν He said δέ then πρός to τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Διά Because of τοῦτο this λέγω I say ὑμῖν· to you, μή not μεριμνᾶτε be anxious τῇ for the ψυχῇ life, τί what φάγητε, you should eat, μηδέ nor τῷ for the σώματι body τί what ἐνδύσησθε. you should put on. ἡ The γάρ for ψυχή life πλεῖον more than ἐστίν is τῆς the τροφῆς food, καί and τό the σῶμα body τοῦ than the ἐνδύματος. clothing. κατανοήσατε Consider τούς the κόρακας ravens, ὅτι that οὐ not σπείρουσιν they sow οὐδέ nor θερίζουσιν, reap; οἷς to them οὐ not ἔστιν there is ταμεῖον a storehouse οὐδέ nor ἀποθήκη, barn — καί and ὁ - Θεός God τρέφει feeds αὐτούς· them. πόσῳ How much μᾶλλον more ὑμεῖς you διαφέρετε are valuable τῶν than the πετεινῶν. birds! τίς Which δέ now ἐκ of ὑμῶν you, μεριμνῶν being anxious, δύναται is able ἐπί to τήν the ἡλικίαν lifespan αὐτοῦ of him προσθεῖναι to add πῆχυν; one hour? εἰ If οὖν then οὐδέ not even ἐλάχιστον [the] least δύνασθε, you are able [to do], τί why περί about τῶν the λοιπῶν rest μεριμνᾶτε; are you anxious?
