Σαμαρίτης A Samaritan δέ however, τὶς one ὁδεύων journeying, ἦλθεν came κατ ̓ to αὐτόν him, καί and ἰδών having seen ἐσπλαγχνίσθη, was moved with compassion, καί and προσελθών having approached, κατέδησεν he bound up τά the τραύματα wounds αὐτοῦ of him, ἐπιχέων pouring on ἔλαιον oil καί and οἶνον, wine; ἐπιβιβάσας having put δέ then αὐτόν him ἐπί on τό the ἴδιον own κτῆνος beast, ἤγαγεν he brought αὐτόν him εἰς to πανδοχεῖον an inn καί and ἐπεμελήθη took care αὐτοῦ. of him. Καί And ἐπί on τήν the αὔριον next day, ἐκβαλών having taken out ἔδωκεν he gave [them] δύο two δηνάρια denarii, τῷ to the πανδοχεῖ innkeeper καί and εἶπεν· said, Ἐπιμελήθητι Take care αὐτοῦ, of him, καί and ὅ whatever τὶ more ἄν - προσδαπανήσῃς you might expend, ἐγώ of me ἐν on τῷ - ἐπανέρχεσθαι returning, με I ἀποδώσω will repay σοι. you. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, εἶπεν said αὐτῇ to her ὁ the Κύριος· Lord, Μάρθα Martha, Μάρθα, Martha, μεριμνᾷς you are anxious καί and θορυβάζῃ troubled περί about πολλά, many things; ἑνός one [thing] δέ however ἐστίν is χρεία· necessary, Μαριάμ Mary γάρ for τήν the ἀγαθήν good μερίδα portion ἐξελέξατο has chosen, ἥτις which οὐ not ἀφαιρεθήσεται will be taken away from αὐτῆς. her.

Λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, εἰ if καί even οὐ not δώσει he will give αὐτῷ to him, ἀναστάς having risen up, διά because of τό - εἶναι being φίλον friend αὐτοῦ, of him, διά because of γέ yet τήν the ἀναίδειαν persistence αὐτοῦ of him, ἐγερθείς having risen δώσει he will give αὐτῷ him ὅσων as much as χρῄζει. he needs. Κἀγώ And I ὑμῖν to you λέγω, say, αἰτεῖτε ask καί and δοθήσεται it will be given ὑμῖν, to you; ζητεῖτε seek καί and εὑρήσετε, you will find; κρούετε knock καί and ἀνοιγήσεται it will be opened ὑμῖν· to you. πᾶς Everyone γάρ for ὁ - αἰτῶν asking λαμβάνει receives; καί and ὁ the [one] ζητῶν seeking εὑρίσκει finds; καί and τῷ to the [one] κρούοντι knocking, ἀνοιγήσεται. it will be opened. Τίνα Which δέ now ἐκ of ὑμῶν you τόν who [is] πατέρα a father, αἰτήσει will ask for ὁ the υἱός son ἰχθύν, a fish, καί and ἀντί instead of ἰχθύος a fish, ὄφιν a serpent αὐτῷ to him ἐπιδώσει; will he give? ἤ Or καί also αἰτήσει [if] he will ask for ᾠόν, an egg, ἐπιδώσει will he give αὐτῷ to him σκορπίον; a scorpion? εἰ If οὖν therefore ὑμεῖς you, πονηροί evil ὑπάρχοντες being, οἴδατε know δόματα gifts ἀγαθά good διδόναι to give τοῖς to the τέκνοις children ὑμῶν, of you, πόσῳ how much μᾶλλον more ὁ the Πατήρ Father ὁ who [is] ἐκ in οὐρανοῦ heaven δώσει will give Πνεῦμα [the] Spirit Ἅγιον Holy τοῖς to those αἰτοῦσιν asking αὐτόν. Him!
Καί And ἦν He was ἐκβάλλων casting out δαιμόνιον a demon, καί and αὐτό it ἦν was κωφόν· mute; ἐγένετο it came to pass δέ then τοῦ the δαιμονίου demon ἐξελθόντος having gone out, ἐλάλησεν spoke ὁ the κωφός mute [man]. καί And ἐθαύμασαν marveled οἱ the ὄχλοι. crowds. τινές Some δέ then ἐκ of αὐτῶν them εἶπον· said, ἐν By Βεελζεβούλ Beelzebul τῷ the ἄρχοντι prince τῶν of the δαιμονίων demons ἐκβάλλει He casts out τά the δαιμόνια· demons. ἕτεροι Others δέ now, πειράζοντες testing, σημεῖον a sign ἐκ from οὐρανοῦ heaven ἐζήτουν were seeking παρ ̓ from αὐτοῦ. Him. Αὐτός He δέ now, εἰδώς knowing αὐτῶν their τά - διανοήματα thoughts, εἶπεν said αὐτοῖς· to them, Πᾶσα Every βασιλεία kingdom ἐφ ̓ against ἑαυτήν itself διαμερισθεῖσα having been divided ἐρημοῦται is brought to desolation; καί and οἶκος a house ἐπί against οἶκον a house πίπτει. falls. εἰ If δέ now καί also ὁ - Σατανᾶς Satan ἐφ ̓ against ἑαυτόν himself διεμερίσθη, is divided, πῶς how σταθήσεται will stand ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom αὐτοῦ; of him? ὅτι For λέγετε you say, ἐν by Βεελζεβούλ Beelzebul ἐκβάλλειν cast out με I τά the δαιμόνια. demons. εἰ If δέ now ἐγώ I ἐν by Βεελζεβούλ Beelzebul ἐκβάλλω cast out τά the δαιμόνια, demons, οἱ the υἱοί sons ὑμῶν of you, ἐν by τίνι whom ἐκβάλλουσιν; do they cast out? διά On account of τοῦτο this, αὐτοί they ὑμῶν of you κριταί judges ἔσονται. will be. εἰ If δέ however ἐν by δακτύλῳ [the] finger Θεοῦ of God ἐγώ I ἐκβάλλω cast out τά the δαιμόνια, demons, ἄρα then ἔφθασεν has come ἐφ ̓ upon ὑμᾶς you ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. Ὅταν When ὁ the ἰσχυρός strong [man] καθωπλισμένος being armed φυλάσσῃ might guard τήν - ἑαυτοῦ his αὐλήν, house, ἐν in εἰρήνῃ peace ἐστίν are τά the ὑπάρχοντα possessions αὐτοῦ· of him; ἐπάν when δέ however ἰσχυρότερος [one] stronger αὐτοῦ than he, ἐπελθών having come upon [him], νικήσῃ shall overcome αὐτόν, him, τήν the πανοπλίαν complete armor αὐτοῦ of him αἴρει he takes away ἐφ ̓ in ᾗ which ἐπεποίθει he had trusted, καί and τά the σκῦλα plunder αὐτοῦ of him διαδίδωσιν. he divides. ὁ The [one] μή not ὤν being μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ Me κατ ̓ against ἐμοῦ Me ἐστίν, is; καί and ὁ the [one] μή not συνάγων gathering μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ Me σκορπίζει. scatters. Ὅταν When τό the ἀκάθαρτον unclean πνεῦμα spirit ἐξέλθῃ is gone out ἀπό from τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου, man, διέρχεται it passes δι ̓ through ἀνύδρων waterless τόπων places ζητοῦν seeking ἀνάπαυσιν rest; καί and μή not εὑρίσκον· finding [any], τότε then λέγει· it says, Ὑποστρέψω I will return εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house μου of me, ὅθεν from where ἐξῆλθον· I came out. καί And ἐλθόν having come, εὑρίσκει it finds [it] σεσαρωμένον swept καί and κεκοσμημένον. put in order. τότε Then πορεύεται it goes καί and παραλαμβάνει takes ἕτερα other πνεύματα spirits πονηρότερα more evil ἑαυτοῦ than itself, ἑπτά seven, καί and εἰσελθόντα having entered, κατοικεῖ they dwell ἐκεῖ· there; καί and γίνεται becomes τά the ἔσχατα last τοῦ of the ἀνθρώπου man ἐκείνου that χείρονα worse τῶν than the πρώτων. first.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then, ἐν in τῷ - λέγειν saying αὐτόν His ταῦτα these things, ἐπάρασα having lifted up τὶς one φωνήν [her] voice, γυνή a woman ἐκ from τοῦ the ὄχλου crowd εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to Him, Μακαρία Blessed [is] ἡ the κοιλία womb ἡ - βαστάσασα having borne σε You, καί and μαστοί [the] breasts οὕς at which ἐθήλασας. You nursed. Αὐτός He δέ then εἶπεν· said, Μενοῦν No rather, μακάριοι blessed [are] οἱ those ἀκούοντες hearing τόν the λόγον word τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God καί and φυλάσσοντες. keeping it.
Τῶν Of the δέ now ὄχλων crowds ἐπαθροιζομένων being pressed around together, ἤρξατο He began λέγειν· to say, ἡ The γενεά generation αὕτη this, γενεά generation πονηρά an evil ἐστίν· is; σημεῖον a sign ζητεῖ, it seeks after, καί and σημεῖον a sign οὐ not δοθήσεται will be given αὐτῇ to it, εἰ if μή not τό the σημεῖον sign Ἰωνᾶ. of Jonah. καθώς As γάρ for ἐγένετο was Ἰωνᾶς Jonah τοῖς to the Νινευίταις Ninevites σημεῖον, a sign, οὕτως thus ἔσται will be καί also ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man τῇ to the γενεᾷ generation ταύτῃ. this. Βασίλισσα The Queen νότου of [the] South ἐγερθήσεται will rise up ἐν in τῇ the κρίσει judgment μετά with τῶν the ἀνδρῶν men τῆς of the γενεᾶς generation ταύτης this, καί and κατακρινεῖ will condemn αὐτούς, them. ὅτι For ἦλθεν she came ἐκ from τῶν the περάτων ends τῆς of the γῆς earth ἀκοῦσαι to hear τήν the σοφίαν wisdom Σολομῶνος, of Solomon, καί and ἰδού behold, πλεῖον greater Σολομῶνος than Solomon ὧδε. here. ἄνδρες [The] men Νινευῖται of Nineveh ἀναστήσονται will stand up ἐν in τῇ the κρίσει judgment μετά with τῆς the γενεᾶς generation ταύτης this, καί and κατακρινοῦσιν will condemn αὐτήν· it. ὅτι For μετενόησαν they repented εἰς at τό the κήρυγμα preaching Ἰωνᾶ, of Jonah, καί and ἰδού behold, πλεῖον greater Ἰωνᾶ than Jonah ὧδε. [is] here.
Οὐδείς But no one λύχνον a lamp ἅψας having lit, εἰς in κρύπτην secret τίθησιν sets it, οὐδέ nor ὑπό under τόν the μόδιον basket, ἀλλ ̓ but ἐπί upon τήν the λυχνίαν, lampstand, ἵνα that οἱ those εἰσπορευόμενοι entering in τό the φῶς light βλέπωσιν. may see.
ὁ The λύχνος lamp τοῦ of your σώματος body ἐστίν is ὁ the ὀφθαλμός eye σου. of you. ὅταν When ὁ the ὀφθαλμός eye σου of you ἁπλοῦς clear ᾖ, is, καί also ὅλον all τό the σῶμα body σου of you φωτεινόν light ἐστίν· is; ἐπάν when δέ however πονηρός evil ᾖ, it be, καί also τό the σῶμα body σου of you σκοτεινόν. [is] dark. σκόπει Take heed οὖν therefore, μή lest τό the φῶς light τό that [is] ἐν in σοί you σκότος darkness ἐστίν. be. εἰ If οὖν therefore τό the σῶμα body σου of you ὅλον [is] full φωτεινόν, of light, μή not ἔχον having μέρος part τὶ any σκοτεινόν, dark, ἔσται it will be φωτεινόν light ὅλον all, ὡς as ὅταν when ὁ the λύχνος lamp τῇ - ἀστραπῇ shining φωτίζῃ might light σε. you.
ἐν In δέ then τῷ the λαλῆσαι speaking, ἐρωτᾷ asked αὐτόν Him Φαρισαῖος a Pharisee ὅπως that ἀριστήσῃ He would dine παρ ̓ with αὐτῷ· him, εἰσελθών having entered δέ then, ἀνέπεσεν. He reclined. ὁ - δέ And Φαρισαῖος the Pharisee, ἰδών having seen [it], ἐθαύμασεν marveled ὅτι that οὐ not πρῶτον first ἐβαπτίσθη He washed πρό before τοῦ the ἀρίστου. dinner. Εἶπεν Said δέ then ὁ the Κύριος Lord πρός to αὐτόν· him, Νῦν Now ὑμεῖς you οἱ - Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees, τό the ἔξωθεν outside τοῦ of the ποτηρίου cup καί and τοῦ of the πίνακος dish καθαρίζετε, you cleanse, τό - δέ and ἔσωθεν the inside ὑμῶν of you γέμει is full ἁρπαγῆς of plundering καί and πονηρίας. wickedness. ἄφρονες, Fools! οὐ [Did] not ὁ the [One] ποιήσας having made τό the ἔξωθεν outside, καί also τό the ἔσωθεν inside ἐποίησεν; make? πλήν But [of] τά the things ἐνόντα being within δότε give ἐλεημοσύνην, alms, καί and ἰδού behold, πάντα all things καθαρά clean ὑμῖν to you ἐστίν. are.
Ἀλλά But οὐαί woe ὑμῖν to you τοῖς - Φαρισαίοις, Pharisees, ὅτι for ἀποδεκατοῦτε you pay tithes of τό - ἡδύοσμον mint καί and τό - πήγανον rue καί and πᾶν every λάχανον herb; καί and παρέρχεσθε you pass by τήν the κρίσιν justice καί and τήν the ἀγάπην love τοῦ - Θεοῦ· of God. ταῦτα These things δέ also ἔδει it behooved [you] ποιῆσαι to do, κἀκεῖνα and those μή not παρεῖναι. to neglect.
Οὐαί Woe ὑμῖν to you τοῖς - Φαρισαίοις, Pharisees, ὅτι for ἀγαπᾶτε you love τήν the πρωτοκαθεδρίαν first seat ἐν in ταῖς the συναγωγαῖς synagogues καί and τούς the ἀσπασμούς greetings ἐν in ταῖς the ἀγοραῖς. marketplaces.
