Συνκαλεσάμενος Having called together δέ then τούς the δώδεκα Twelve, ἔδωκεν He gave αὐτοῖς to them δύναμιν power καί and ἐξουσίαν authority ἐπί over πάντα all τά the δαιμόνια demons, καί and νόσους diseases θεραπεύειν to heal, καί and ἀπέστειλεν He sent αὐτούς them κηρύσσειν to proclaim τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God καί and ἰᾶσθαι to heal τούς the ἀσθενεῖς, sick, καί and εἶπεν He said πρός to αὐτούς· them, Μηδέν Nothing αἴρετε take εἰς for τήν the ὁδόν, journey; μήτε neither ῥάβδον staff, μήτε nor πήραν bag, μήτε nor ἄρτον bread, μήτε nor ἀργύριον money, μήτε nor ἀνά apiece δύο two χιτῶνας tunics ἔχειν. to have. καί And εἰς into ἥν whatever ἄν - οἰκίαν house εἰσέλθητε, you might enter, ἐκεῖ there μένετε remain, καί and ἐκεῖθεν from there ἐξέρχεσθε. go forth. καί And ὅσοι as many as ἄν - μή not δέχωνται might receive ὑμᾶς, you, ἐξερχόμενοι going forth ἀπό from τῆς the πόλεως city ἐκείνης that, τόν the κονιορτόν dust ἀπό from τῶν the ποδῶν feet ὑμῶν of you ἀποτινάσσετε shake off, εἰς as μαρτύριον a testimony ἐπ ̓ against αὐτούς. them. Ἤκουσεν Heard of δέ now Ἡρῴδης Herod ὁ the τετραάρχης Tetrarch τά the things γινόμενα being done πάντα all, καί and διηπόρει was perplexed, διά because τό - λέγεσθαι it was said ὑπό by τινῶν some ὅτι - Ἰωάννης John ἠγέρθη has been raised ἐκ out from νεκρῶν, [the] dead, ὑπό by τινῶν some δέ also ὅτι that Ἠλίας Elijah ἐφάνη, had appeared, ἄλλων by others δέ also ὅτι that προφήτης a prophet τὶς one τῶν of the ἀρχαίων ancients ἀνέστη. had arisen. Εἶπεν Said δέ then Ἡρῴδης· Herod, Ἰωάννην John ἐγώ I ἀπεκεφάλισα· beheaded; τίς who δέ however ἐστίν is οὗτος this περί concerning οὗ whom ἀκούω I hear τοιαῦτα; such things? καί And ἐζήτει he was seeking ἰδεῖν to see αὐτόν. Εἶπεν He said δέ now πρός to αὐτούς· them, Δότε Give αὐτοῖς to them ὑμεῖς you. φαγεῖν. to eat οἱ - δέ But εἶπαν· they said, οὐκ Not εἰσίν there are ἡμῖν to us πλεῖον more ἤ than ἄρτοι loaves πέντε five, καί and ἰχθύες fish δύο, two, εἰ if μήτι not πορευθέντες having gone, ἡμεῖς we ἀγοράσωμεν should buy εἰς for πάντα all τόν the λαόν people τοῦτον this βρώματα. food. ἦσαν They were γάρ for ὡσεί about ἄνδρες men πεντακισχίλιοι. five thousand. Εἶπεν He said δέ then πρός to τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Κατακλίνατε Make sit down αὐτούς them, κλισίας groups ὡσεί of about ἀνά in πεντήκοντα. fifty. καί And ἐποίησαν they did οὕτως so καί and κατέκλιναν made sit down ἅπαντας. all. Λαβών Having taken δέ then τούς the πέντε five ἄρτους loaves καί and τούς the δύο two ἰχθύας fish, ἀναβλέψας having looked up εἰς to τόν the οὐρανόν heaven, εὐλόγησεν He blessed αὐτούς them καί and κατέκλασεν broke [them], καί and ἐδίδου He kept giving [them] τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples παραθεῖναι to set before τῷ the ὄχλῳ. crowd. Καί And ἔφαγον they ate καί and ἐχορτάσθησαν were satisfied πάντες, all; καί and ἤρθη was taken up τό that περισσεῦσαν having been a surplus αὐτοῖς to them κλασμάτων of fragments, κόφινοι hand-baskets δώδεκα. twelve.

Εἶπεν He said δέ then αὐτοῖς· to them, Ὑμεῖς You δέ however, τίνα whom με Me λέγετε do pronounce εἶναι; to be? Πέτρος Peter δέ then ἀποκριθείς answering εἶπεν· said, Τόν The Χριστόν Christ τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. ὁ - δέ And ἐπιτιμήσας having strictly warned αὐτοῖς them, παρήγγειλεν He instructed [them] μηδενί to no one λέγειν to tell τοῦτο this, εἰπών having said ὅτι -, Δεῖ It is necessary for τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man πολλά many things παθεῖν to suffer, καί and ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι to be rejected ἀπό by τῶν the πρεσβυτέρων elders καί and ἀρχιερέων chief priests καί and γραμματέων scribes, καί and ἀποκτανθῆναι to be killed, καί and τῇ on the τρίτῃ third ἡμέρᾳ day ἐγερθῆναι. to be raised.
Ἔλεγεν He was saying δέ then πρός to πάντας· all, Εἴ If τὶς anyone θέλει desires ὀπίσω after μου Me ἔρχεσθαι, to come, ἀρνησάσθω let him deny ἑαυτόν himself, καί and ἀράτω let him take up τόν the σταυρόν cross αὐτοῦ of him καθ ̓ every ἡμέραν day, καί and ἀκολουθείτω let him follow μοι.
