Καί And ἐκτείνας having stretched out τήν the χεῖρα hand, ἥψατο He touched αὐτοῦ him, λέγων· saying, Θέλω, I am willing; καθαρίσθητι· be you cleansed! καί And εὐθέως immediately ἡ the λέπρα leprosy ἀπῆλθεν departed ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ. him. Διήρχετο Was spread abroad δέ now μᾶλλον still more ὁ the λόγος report περί concerning αὐτοῦ, Him; καί and συνήρχοντο were coming ὄχλοι crowds πολλοί great ἀκούειν to hear καί and θεραπεύεσθαι to be healed ἀπό from τῶν the ἀσθενειῶν sicknesses αὐτῶν· of them. αὐτός He Himself δέ now ἦν was ὑποχωρῶν withdrawing ἐν into ταῖς the ἐρήμοις wilderness καί and προσευχόμενος. praying.
Καί And ἐγένετο it came to pass ἐν on μιᾷ one τῶν of the ἡμερῶν days καί that αὐτός He ἦν was διδάσκων, teaching, καί and ἦσαν there were καθήμενοι sitting by Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees καί and νομοδιδάσκαλοι teachers of the law, οἵ who ἦσαν were ἐληλυθότες come ἐκ out of πάσης every κώμης village τῆς - Γαλιλαίας of Galilee, καί and Ἰουδαίας of Judea, καί and Ἰερουσαλήμ· of Jerusalem. καί And δύναμις [the] power Κυρίου of [the] Lord ἦν was [there] εἰς for τό - ἰᾶσθαι to heal αὐτόν. Him. Καί And ἰδού behold, ἄνδρες men φέροντες carrying ἐπί upon κλίνης a mat ἄνθρωπον a man ὅς who ἦν was παραλελυμένος paralyzed, καί and ἐζήτουν they were seeking αὐτόν him εἰσενεγκεῖν to bring in καί and θεῖναι to place αὐτόν him ἐνώπιον before αὐτοῦ. Him. καί And μή not εὑρόντες having found ποίας what way εἰσενέγκωσιν they should bring in αὐτόν him διά on account of τόν the ὄχλον, crowd, ἀναβάντες having gone up ἐπί on τό the δῶμα housetop, διά through τῶν the κεράμων tiles καθῆκαν they let down αὐτόν him, σύν with τῷ the κλινιδίῳ mat εἰς into τό the μέσον midst ἔμπροσθεν before τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ. Jesus. Καί And ἰδών having seen τήν the πίστιν faith αὐτῶν of them, εἶπεν· He said, Ἄνθρωπε, Man, ἀφέωνται have been forgiven σοι you αἱ the ἁμαρτίαι sins σου. of you. Καί And ἤρξαντο began διαλογίζεσθαι to reason οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes καί and οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees, λέγοντες· saying, Τίς Who ἐστίν is οὗτος this ὅς who λαλεῖ speaks βλασφημίας; blasphemies? τίς Who δύναται is able ἁμαρτίας sins ἀφεῖναι to forgive, εἰ if μή not μόνος alone ὁ - Θεός; God? Ἐπιγνούς Having known δέ now ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus τούς the διαλογισμούς reasonings αὐτῶν of them, ἀποκριθείς answering, εἶπεν He said πρός to αὐτούς· them, Τί Why διαλογίζεσθε reason you ἐν in ταῖς the καρδίαις hearts ὑμῶν; of you? τί Which ἐστίν is εὐκοπώτερον, easier, εἰπεῖν· to say, Ἀφέωνται Have been forgiven σοι you αἱ the ἁμαρτίαι sins σου, of you, ἤ or εἰπεῖν· to say, Ἔγειρε Arise καί and περιπάτει; walk? ἵνα That δέ however εἰδῆτε you may know ὅτι that ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐξουσίαν authority ἔχει has ἐπί on τῆς the γῆς earth ἀφιέναι to forgive ἁμαρτίας— sins... εἶπεν He said τῷ to the [one] παραλελυμένῳ· having been paralyzed, Σοί To you λέγω, I say, ἔγειρε arise, καί and ἄρας having taken up τό the κλινίδιον mat σου of you, πορεύου go εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house σου. of you. Καί And παραχρῆμα immediately ἀναστάς having stood up ἐνώπιον before αὐτῶν, them, ἄρας having taken up ἐφ ̓ [that] on ὅ which κατέκειτο, he was lying, ἀπῆλθεν he departed εἰς to τόν the οἶκον home αὐτοῦ of him, δοξάζων glorifying τόν - Θεόν. God. καί And ἔκστασις amazement ἔλαβεν seized ἅπαντας all, καί and ἐδόξαζον they were glorifying τόν - Θεόν God, καί and ἐπλήσθησαν were filled φόβου with fear, λέγοντες saying ὅτι -, Εἴδομεν We have seen παράδοξα remarkable things σήμερον. today.
Καί And μετά after ταῦτα these things ἐξῆλθεν He went forth καί and ἐθεάσατο He saw τελώνην a tax collector ὀνόματι named Λευίν Levi καθήμενον sitting ἐπί at τό the τελώνιον, tax booth; καί and εἶπεν He said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἀκολούθει Follow μοι. Me. καί And καταλιπών having left πάντα all, ἀναστάς having arisen, ἠκολούθει he began to follow αὐτῷ. Him. Καί And ἐποίησεν made δοχήν a banquet μεγάλην great Λευίς Levi αὐτῷ for Him ἐν in τῇ the οἰκίᾳ house αὐτοῦ, of him, καί and ἦν there was ὄχλος a multitude πολύς great τελωνῶν of tax collectors καί and ἄλλων others, οἵ who ἦσαν were μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them κατακείμενοι. reclining. καί And ἐγόγγυζον were grumbling οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees καί and οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes αὐτῶν of them πρός at τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, λέγοντες· saying, Διά Because of τί why μετά with τῶν the τελωνῶν tax collectors καί and ἁμαρτωλῶν sinners ἐσθίετε do you eat καί and πίνετε; drink? Καί And ἀποκριθείς answering, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said πρός to αὐτούς· them, οὐ No χρείαν need ἔχουσιν have οἱ those ὑγιαίνοντες being well ἰατροῦ of a physician, ἀλλά but οἱ those κακῶς sick ἔχοντες· being. οὐ Not ἐλήλυθα I have come καλέσαι to call δικαίους righteous [ones], ἀλλά but ἁμαρτωλούς sinners, εἰς to μετάνοιαν. repentance.
οἱ - δέ And εἶπαν they said πρός to αὐτόν· Him, οἱ The μαθηταί disciples Ἰωάννου of John νηστεύουσιν fast πυκνά often, καί and δεήσεις prayers ποιοῦνται make, ὁμοίως likewise καί also οἱ those τῶν of the Φαρισαίων, Pharisees; οἱ those δέ however σοί of You ἐσθίουσιν eat καί and πίνουσιν. drink. ὁ - δέ And Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said πρός to αὐτούς· them, Μή Not δύνασθε are you able τούς the υἱούς sons τοῦ of the νυμφῶνος bridechamber ἐν in ᾧ which [time] ὁ the νυμφίος bridegroom μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them ἐστίν is, ποιῆσαι to make νηστεῦσαι; to fast? ἐλεύσονται Will come δέ however ἡμέραι, days καί also ὅταν when ἀπαρθῇ shall be taken away ἀπ ̓ from αὐτῶν them ὁ the νυμφίος, bridegroom; τότε then νηστεύσουσιν they will fast ἐν in ἐκείναις those ταῖς - ἡμέραις. days.
Ἔλεγεν He was speaking δέ now καί also παραβολήν a parable πρός to αὐτούς them ὅτι -: Οὐδείς No one ἐπίβλημα a piece ἀπό of ἱματίου a garment καινοῦ new σχίσας having torn, ἐπιβάλλει puts [it] ἐπί on ἱμάτιον a garment παλαιόν· old; εἰ if δέ however μή γέ, otherwise καί also τό the καινόν new σχίσει he will tear, καί and τῷ the παλαιῷ old οὐ not συμφωνήσει will match, τό which [is] ἐπίβλημα [the] piece τό - ἀπό of τοῦ the καινοῦ. new. Καί And οὐδείς no one βάλλει puts οἶνον wine νέον new εἰς into ἀσκούς wineskins παλαιούς· old; εἰ if δέ now μή γέ, otherwise, ῥήξει will burst ὁ the οἶνος wine ὁ - νέος new τούς the ἀσκούς wineskins, καί and αὐτός it ἐκχυθήσεται will be spilled out, καί and οἱ the ἀσκοί wineskins ἀπολοῦνται· will be destroyed. ἀλλά But οἶνον wine νέον new εἰς into ἀσκούς wineskins καινούς fresh βλητέον. must be put. καί And οὐδείς no one πιών having drunk παλαιόν old [wine] θέλει desires νέον· new; λέγει he says γάρ· for, ὁ The παλαιός old χρηστός better ἐστίν. is.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then ἐν on σαββάτῳ a Sabbath διαπορεύεσθαι is passing along αὐτόν He διά through σπορίμων, grainfields, καί and ἔτιλλον were plucking οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, καί and ἤσθιον were eating τούς the στάχυας heads of grain, ψώχοντες rubbing [them] ταῖς in the χερσίν. hands. τινές Some δέ however τῶν of the Φαρισαίων Pharisees εἶπαν· said, Τί Why ποιεῖτε do you ὅ that which οὐ not ἔξεστιν it is lawful τοῖς [on] the σάββασιν; Sabbaths? Καί And ἀποκριθείς answering πρός to αὐτούς them, εἶπεν said ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Οὐδέ Not even τοῦτο this ἀνέγνωτε have you read, ὅ that which ἐποίησεν did Δαυίδ David, ὅτε when ἐπείνασεν was hungry αὐτός he himself, καί and οἱ those who μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ him ὄντες, were: ὡς how εἰσῆλθεν he entered εἰς into τόν the οἶκον house τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, καί and τούς the ἄρτους loaves τῆς of the προθέσεως presentation λαβών having taken, ἔφαγεν ate, καί and ἔδωκεν gave τοῖς to those μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ, him, οὕς which οὐ not ἔξεστιν it is lawful φαγεῖν to eat, εἰ if μή not μόνους only τούς to the ἱερεῖς; priests? καί And ἔλεγεν He was saying αὐτοῖς· to them, Κύριος Lord ἐστίν is τοῦ of the σαββάτου Sabbath ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου. of Man. Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then ἐν on ἑτέρῳ another σαββάτῳ Sabbath, εἰσελθεῖν entered αὐτόν He εἰς into τήν the συναγωγήν synagogue καί and διδάσκειν. taught; καί and ἦν there was ἄνθρωπος a man ἐκεῖ there, καί and ἡ the χείρ hand αὐτοῦ of him ἡ the δεξιά right ἦν was ξηρά. withered. παρετηροῦντο Were closely watching δέ now αὐτόν Him οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes καί and οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees, εἰ whether ἐν on τῷ the σαββάτῳ Sabbath θεραπεύει, He will heal, ἵνα that εὕρωσιν they might find [reason] κατηγορεῖν to accuse αὐτοῦ. Him. Αὐτός He δέ now ᾔδει knew τούς the διαλογισμούς thoughts αὐτῶν, of them; εἶπεν He said δέ now τῷ to the ἀνδρί man τῷ the ξηράν withered ἔχοντι having τήν the χεῖρα· hand, Ἔγειρε Arise καί and στῆθι stand εἰς in τό the μέσον· midst. καί And ἀναστάς having risen up, ἔστη. he stood. εἶπεν Said δέ then ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus πρός to αὐτούς· them, Ἐπερωτῶ I ask ὑμᾶς you, εἰ whether ἔξεστιν it is lawful τῷ on the σαββάτῳ Sabbath ἀγαθοποιῆσαι to do good ἤ or κακοποιῆσαι, to do evil? ψυχήν Life σῶσαι to save ἤ or ἀπολέσαι; to destroy? Καί And περιβλεψάμενος having looked around πάντας all αὐτούς on them, εἶπεν He said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἔκτεινον Stretch out τήν the χεῖρα hand σου. of you. ὁ - δέ And ἐποίησεν he did, καί and ἀπεκατεστάθη was restored ἡ the χείρ hand αὐτοῦ. of him. αὐτοί They themselves δέ then ἐπλήσθησαν were filled ἀνοίας with rage, καί and διελάλουν were discussing πρός with ἀλλήλους one another τί what ἄν - ποιήσαιεν they might do τῷ - Ἰησοῦ. to Jesus.
Ἐγένετο It came to pass δέ then ἐν in ταῖς the ἡμέραις days ταύταις those, ἐξελθεῖν went out αὐτόν He εἰς to τό the ὄρος mountain προσεύξασθαι, to pray, καί and ἦν He was διανυκτερεύων spending the night ἐν in τῇ - προσευχῇ prayer τοῦ - Θεοῦ. to God. καί And ὅτε when ἐγένετο it became ἡμέρα, day, προσεφώνησεν He called to [Him] τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ, of Him, καί also ἐκλεξάμενος having chosen out ἀπ ̓ from αὐτῶν them δώδεκα, twelve, οὕς whom καί also ἀποστόλους apostles ὠνόμασεν· He named: Σίμωνα Simon ὅν whom καί also ὠνόμασεν He named Πέτρον, Peter, καί and Ἀνδρέαν Andrew τόν the ἀδελφόν brother αὐτοῦ, of him; καί and Ἰάκωβον James καί and Ἰωάννην John; καί and Φίλιππον Philip καί and Βαρθολομαῖον Bartholomew; καί and Μαθθαῖον Matthew καί and Θωμᾶν Thomas; καί and Ἰάκωβον James Ἁλφαίου [son of] Alphaeus; καί and Σίμωνα Simon τόν the [one] καλούμενον called Ζηλωτήν Zealot; καί and Ἰούδαν Judas [son] Ἰακώβου of James; καί and Ἰούδαν Judas Ἰσκαριώθ, Iscariot, ὅς who ἐγένετο became προδότης. [the] betrayer.
Καί And καταβάς having descended μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them, ἔστη He stood ἐπί on τόπου a place πεδινοῦ, level, καί and ὄχλος a crowd πολύς large μαθητῶν of disciples αὐτοῦ, of Him, καί and πλῆθος a multitude πολύ great τοῦ of the λαοῦ people ἀπό from πάσης all τῆς - Ἰουδαίας Judea, καί and Ἰερουσαλήμ Jerusalem, καί and τῆς the παραλίου sea coast Τύρου of Tyre, καί and Σιδῶνος, Sidon, οἵ who ἦλθον came ἀκοῦσαι to hear αὐτοῦ Him καί and ἰαθῆναι to be healed ἀπό of τῶν the νόσων diseases αὐτῶν· of them. καί And οἱ those ἐνοχλούμενοι troubled ἀπό with πνευμάτων spirits ἀκαθάρτων unclean ἐθεραπεύοντο, were healed. καί And πᾶς all ὁ the ὄχλος multitude ἐζήτουν were seeking ἅπτεσθαι to touch αὐτοῦ, Him, ὅτι because δύναμις power παρ ̓ from αὐτοῦ Him ἐξήρχετο was going out καί and ἰᾶτο healing πάντας. all.
Καί And αὐτός He, ἐπάρας having lifted up τούς the ὀφθαλμούς gaze αὐτοῦ of Him εἰς upon τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, ἔλεγεν· was saying: Μακάριοι Blessed [are] οἱ the πτωχοί, poor, Ὅτι for ὑμετέρα yours ἐστίν is ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. Μακάριοι Blessed [are] οἱ those πεινῶντες hungering νῦν, now, Ὅτι for χορτασθήσεσθε. you will be filled. Μακάριοι Blessed [are] οἱ those κλαίοντες weeping νῦν, now, Ὅτι for γελάσετε. you will laugh. Μακάριοι Blessed ἐστέ are you ὅταν when μισήσωσιν shall hate ὑμᾶς you οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men, καί and ὅταν when ἀφορίσωσιν they shall exclude ὑμᾶς you, καί and ὀνειδίσωσιν shall insult [you], καί and ἐκβάλωσιν shall cast out τό the ὄνομα name ὑμῶν of you ὡς as πονηρόν evil, ἕνεκα on account of τοῦ the Υἱοῦ Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου· of Man.
χάρητε Rejoice ἐν in ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ἡμέρᾳ day, καί and σκιρτήσατε, leap for joy; ἰδού behold γάρ for, ὁ the μισθός reward ὑμῶν of you πολύς [is] great ἐν in τῷ - οὐρανῷ· heaven. κατά According to τά these things αὐτά of them γάρ for ἐποίουν used to treat τοῖς the προφήταις prophets οἱ the πατέρες fathers αὐτῶν. likewise. Πλήν But οὐαί woe ὑμῖν to you τοῖς who are πλουσίοις, rich, Ὅτι for ἀπέχετε you are receiving τήν the παράκλησιν comfort ὑμῶν. of you. Οὐαί Woe ὑμῖν, to you οἱ who ἐμπεπλησμένοι having been filled νῦν, now, Ὅτι for πεινάσετε. you will hunger. Οὐαί, Woe to οἱ those γελῶντες laughing νῦν, now, Ὅτι for πενθήσετε you will mourn καί and κλαύσετε. will weep. Οὐαί Woe to you ὅταν when ὑμᾶς of you καλῶς well εἴπωσιν speak πάντες all οἱ - ἄνθρωποι· men, Κατά according to τά these things αὐτά of them γάρ for ἐποίουν used to treat τοῖς the ψευδοπροφήταις false prophets οἱ the πατέρες fathers αὐτῶν. likewise.
