Καί And τινές some τῶν of those παρεστηκότων standing by, ἀκούσαντες having heard, ἔλεγον· were saying, Ἴδε Behold, Ἠλίαν Elijah φωνεῖ. He calls. Δραμών Having run δέ then τὶς one καί and γεμίσας having filled σπόγγον a sponge ὄξους with vinegar, περιθείς having put [it] on καλάμῳ a reed, ἐπότιζεν gave to drink αὐτόν him, λέγων· saying, Ἄφετε Let be; ἴδωμεν let us see εἰ if ἔρχεται comes Ἠλίας Elijah καθελεῖν to take down αὐτόν. him. ὁ - δέ But Ἰησοῦς Jesus, ἀφείς having uttered φωνήν a cry μεγάλην loud, ἐξέπνευσεν. breathed His last.
Καί And τό the καταπέτασμα veil τοῦ of the ναοῦ temple ἐσχίσθη was torn εἰς into δύο two ἀπ ̓ from ἄνωθεν top ἕως to κάτω. bottom. Ἰδών Having seen δέ then ὁ the κεντυρίων centurion ὁ - παρεστηκώς standing ἐκ from ἐναντίας opposite of αὐτοῦ Him ὅτι that οὕτως thus ἐξέπνευσεν He breathed His last, εἶπεν· he said, Ἀληθῶς Truly οὗτος this ὁ - ἄνθρωπος man Υἱός [the] Son Θεοῦ of God ἦν. was!
Ἦσαν There were δέ then καί also γυναῖκες women ἀπό from μακρόθεν afar off θεωροῦσαι, looking on, ἐν among αἷς whom καί also Μαρία Mary ἡ - Μαγδαληνή Magdalene, καί and Μαρία Mary ἡ the Ἰακώβου of James τοῦ the μικροῦ least καί and Ἰωσῆτος of Joseph μήτηρ mother, καί and Σαλώμη, Salome, αἵ who, ὅτε when ἦν He was ἐν in τῇ - Γαλιλαίᾳ Galilee, ἠκολούθουν had been following αὐτῷ Him καί and διηκόνουν had been ministering αὐτῷ, to Him, καί and ἄλλαι other πολλαί many, αἱ those συναναβᾶσαι having come up with αὐτῷ Him εἰς to Ἱεροσόλυμα. Jerusalem.
Καί And ἤδη already ὀψίας evening γενομένης, having arrived, ἐπεί since ἦν it was [the] Παρασκευή Preparation, ὅ that ἐστίν is, προσάββατον, the day before Sabbath, ἐλθών having come, Ἰωσήφ Joseph ὁ - ἀπό from Ἁριμαθαίας Arimathea, εὐσχήμων a prominent βουλευτής, Council member, ὅς who καί also αὐτός himself ἦν was προσδεχόμενος waiting for τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ, of God, τολμήσας having boldness, εἰσῆλθεν went in πρός to τόν - Πιλᾶτον Pilate καί and ᾐτήσατο asked for τό the σῶμα body τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ. of Jesus. ὁ - δέ And Πιλᾶτος Pilate ἐθαύμασεν wondered εἰ if ἤδη already τέθνηκεν He were dead. καί And προσκαλεσάμενος having called to [him] τόν the κεντυρίωνα centurion, ἐπηρώτησεν he questioned αὐτόν him εἰ whether πάλαι already ἀπέθανεν· He had died. καί And γνούς having known [it] ἀπό from τοῦ the κεντυρίωνος centurion, ἐδωρήσατο He granted τό the πτῶμα body τῷ - Ἰωσήφ. to Joseph. Καί And ἀγοράσας having bought σινδόνα a linen cloth, καθελών having taken down αὐτόν him, ἐνείλησεν he wrapped [Him] in τῇ the σινδόνι linen cloth καί and ἔθηκεν laid αὐτόν Him ἐν in μνημείῳ a tomb ὅ which ἦν was λελατομημένον cut ἐκ out of πέτρας a rock. καί And προσεκύλισεν he rolled λίθον a stone ἐπί to τήν the θύραν door τοῦ of the μνημείου. tomb. ἡ - δέ And Μαρία Mary ἡ - Μαγδαληνή Magdalene καί and Μαρία Mary ἡ the [mother] Ἰωσῆτος of Joseph ἐθεώρουν were watching ποῦ where τέθειται. He was laid.
Καί And διαγενομένου having passed τοῦ the σαββάτου Sabbath, Μαρία Mary ἡ - Μαγδαληνή Magdalene, καί and Μαρία Mary ἡ the [mother] τοῦ - Ἰακώβου of James, καί and Σαλώμη Salome, ἠγόρασαν bought ἀρώματα spices, ἵνα that ἐλθοῦσαι having come, ἀλείψωσιν they might anoint αὐτόν. Him. καί And λίαν very πρωΐ early τῇ on the μιᾷ first [day] τῶν of the σαββάτων week, ἔρχονται they come ἐπί to τό the μνημεῖον tomb, ἀνατείλαντος having arisen τοῦ the ἡλίου. sun. καί And ἔλεγον they were saying πρός among ἑαυτάς· themselves, Τίς Who ἀποκυλίσει will roll away ἡμῖν for us τόν the λίθον stone ἐκ from τῆς the θύρας door τοῦ of the μνημείου; tomb? καί And ἀναβλέψασαι having looked up θεωροῦσιν they see ὅτι that ἀποκεκύλισται has been rolled away ὁ the λίθος· stone; ἦν it was γάρ for μέγας large σφόδρα. extremely.
Καί And εἰσελθοῦσαι having entered εἰς into τό the μνημεῖον tomb, εἶδον they saw νεανίσκον a young man καθήμενον sitting ἐν on τοῖς the δεξιοῖς right, περιβεβλημένον clothed in στολήν a robe λευκήν, white, καί and ἐξεθαμβήθησαν. they were greatly amazed. ὁ - δέ And λέγει he says αὐταῖς· to them, Μή Not ἐκθαμβεῖσθε· be amazed. Ἰησοῦν Jesus ζητεῖτε you seek, τόν the Ναζαρηνόν Nazarene, τόν the [One] ἐσταυρωμένον· having been crucified. ἠγέρθη, He is risen! οὐ Not ἔστιν He is ὧδε· here! ἴδε Behold ὁ the τόπος place ὅπου where ἔθηκαν they laid αὐτόν. Him. ἀλλά But ὑπάγετε go, εἴπατε say τοῖς the μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him καί and τῷ - Πέτρῳ to Peter ὅτι that Προάγει He goes before ὑμᾶς you εἰς into τήν - Γαλιλαίαν· Galilee; ἐκεῖ there αὐτόν Him ὄψεσθε, will you see, καθώς as εἶπεν He said ὑμῖν. to you.
Καί And ἐξελθοῦσαι having gone out, ἔφυγον they fled ἀπό from τοῦ the μνημείου, tomb. εἶχεν Had seized γάρ for αὐτάς them τρόμος trembling καί and ἔκστασις· amazement, καί and οὐδενί to none οὐδέν nothing εἶπαν· they spoke; ἐφοβοῦντο they were afraid γάρ. for.
Ἀναστάς Having risen δέ now πρωΐ early [the] πρώτῃ first [day] σαββάτου of the week, ἐφάνη He appeared πρῶτον first Μαρίᾳ to Mary τῇ - Μαγδαληνῇ, Magdalene, παρ ̓ from ἧς whom ἐκβεβλήκει He had cast out ἑπτά seven δαιμόνια. demons. ἐκείνη She πορευθεῖσα having gone, ἀπήγγειλεν told [it] τοῖς to those μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ Him, γενομένοις having been πενθοῦσι mourning καί and κλαίουσιν· weeping. κἀκεῖνοι And they, ἀκούσαντες having heard ὅτι that ζῇ He is alive καί and ἐθεάθη has been seen ὑπ ̓ by αὐτῆς her, ἠπίστησαν. disbelieved.
Μετά After δέ now ταῦτα these things, δυσίν to two ἐκ of αὐτῶν them περιπατοῦσιν as they are walking, ἐφανερώθη He appeared ἐν in ἑτέρᾳ another μορφῇ form, πορευομένοις going εἰς into ἀγρόν· [the] country. κἀκεῖνοι And they, ἀπελθόντες having gone, ἀπήγγειλαν told [it] τοῖς to the λοιποῖς· rest; οὐδέ neither ἐκείνοις them ἐπίστευσαν. did they believe.
Ὕστερον Afterward δέ now ἀνακειμένοις were reclining αὐτοῖς they; τοῖς to the ἕνδεκα eleven ἐφανερώθη He appeared καί and ὠνείδισεν rebuked τήν the ἀπιστίαν unbelief αὐτῶν of them καί and σκληροκαρδίαν hardness of heart, ὅτι because τοῖς those θεασαμένοις having seen αὐτόν Him ἐγηγερμένον arisen οὐ not ἐπίστευσαν. they believed. Καί And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Πορευθέντες Having gone εἰς into τόν the κόσμον world ἅπαντα all, κηρύξατε proclaim τό the εὐαγγέλιον gospel πάσῃ to all τῇ the κτίσει. creation. ὁ The [one] πιστεύσας having believed καί and βαπτισθείς having been baptized σωθήσεται, will be saved; ὁ the [one] δέ however ἀπιστήσας having disbelieved κατακριθήσεται. will be condemned. σημεῖα Signs δέ now τοῖς those πιστεύσασιν having believed ταῦτα these παρακολουθήσει· will accompany: ἐν In τῷ the ὀνόματι name μου of Me δαιμόνια demons ἐκβαλοῦσιν, they will cast out; γλώσσαις with tongues λαλήσουσιν they will speak καιναῖς, new; και and ἐν with ταῖς their χερσίν hands ὄφεις serpents ἀροῦσιν they will take up; κἄν and if θανάσιμον deadly τὶ anything πίωσιν they drink, οὐ no μή not αὐτούς them βλάψῃ, shall it hurt; ἐπί upon ἀρρώστους [the] sick, χεῖρας hands ἐπιθήσουσιν they will lay, καί and καλῶς well ἕξουσιν. they will be.
ὁ - μέν Indeed οὖν therefore Κύριος the Lord Ἰησοῦς Jesus, μετά after τό - λαλῆσαι speaking αὐτοῖς to them, ἀνελήμφθη was taken up εἰς into τόν the οὐρανόν heaven καί and ἐκάθισεν sat ἐκ at [the] δεξιῶν right hand τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. ἐκεῖνοι They δέ now ἐξελθόντες having gone forth, ἐκήρυξαν preached πανταχοῦ, everywhere, τοῦ the Κυρίου Lord συνεργοῦντος working with [them] καί and τόν the λόγον word βεβαιοῦντος confirming διά by τῶν the ἐπακολουθούντων accompanying σημείων. signs.
πάντα all δέ moreover τά the παρηγγελμένα [things] being instructed τοῖς to [those] περί around τόν - Πέτρον Peter. συντόμως promptly ἐξήγγειλαν. they reported μετά after δέ Moreover, ταῦτα these, καί also αὐτός Himself ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἀπό from ἀνατολῆς [the] east καί and ἄχρι to δύσεως [the] west, ἐξαπέστειλεν sent out δι ̓ through αὐτῶν them, τό the ἱερόν sacred καί and ἄφθαρτον imperishable κήρυγμα preaching τῆς of αἰωνίου eternal σωτηρίας. salvation. ἀμήν.
