Καί And παραδώσει will deliver up ἀδελφός brother, ἀδελφόν brother εἰς to θάνατον death, καί and πατήρ father, τέκνον, child; καί and ἐπαναστήσονται will rise up τέκνα children ἐπί against γονεῖς parents, καί and θανατώσουσιν will put to death αὐτούς· them. καί And ἔσεσθε you will be μισούμενοι hated ὑπό by πάντων all διά on account of τό the ὄνομα name μου. of Me; ὁ the [one] δέ however ὑπομείνας having endured εἰς to τέλος [the] end, οὗτος he σωθήσεται. will be saved.
Ὅταν When δέ then ἴδητε you see τό the βδέλυγμα abomination τῆς of the ἐρημώσεως desolation ἑστηκότα standing ὅπου where οὐ not δεῖ, it should — ὁ the [one] ἀναγινώσκων reading, νοείτω, let him understand — τότε then οἱ those ἐν in τῇ - Ἰουδαίᾳ Judea, φευγέτωσαν let them flee εἰς to τά the ὄρη, mountains, ὁ the [one] δέ and ἐπί upon τοῦ the δώματος housetop, μή not καταβάτω let him come down, μηδέ nor εἰσελθάτω go in ἆραι to take τὶ anything ἐκ out of τῆς the οἰκίας house αὐτοῦ, of him; καί and ὁ the [one] εἰς in τόν the ἀγρόν field, μή not ἐπιστρεψάτω let him return εἰς to τά the things ὀπίσω behind, ἆραι to take τό the ἱμάτιον clothing αὐτοῦ. of him. Οὐαί Woe δέ then ταῖς to those ἐν in γαστρί womb ἐχούσαις having, καί and ταῖς to the [ones] θηλαζούσαις nursing infants ἐν in ἐκείναις those ταῖς - ἡμέραις. days!
προσεύχεσθε Pray δέ then ἵνα that it μή not γένηται might be χειμῶνος· in winter; ἔσονται will be [in] γάρ for αἱ the ἡμέραι days ἐκεῖναι those θλῖψις tribulation, οἵα such as οὐ never γέγονεν has been τοιαύτη the like, ἀπ ̓ from [the] ἀρχῆς beginning κτίσεως of creation, ἥν which ἔκτισεν created ὁ - Θεός God, ἕως until τοῦ - νῦν now — καί and οὐ never μή not γένηται. shall be. καί And εἰ if μή not ἐκολόβωσεν had shortened Κύριος [the] Lord τάς the ἡμέρας, days, οὐ no ἄν - ἐσώθη there would have been saved πᾶσα any σάρξ· flesh; ἀλλά but διά on account of τούς the ἐκλεκτούς elect οὕς whom ἐξελέξατο He chose, ἐκολόβωσεν He has shortened τάς the ἡμέρας. days.
Καί And τότε then ἐάν if τὶς anyone ὑμῖν to you εἴπῃ· says, Ἴδε Behold, ὧδε here [is] ὁ the Χριστός, Christ! Ἴδε Behold, ἐκεῖ, there! μή not πιστεύετε· you shall believe [it]. ἐγερθήσονται There will arise γάρ for ψευδόχριστοι false Christs καί and ψευδοπροφῆται false prophets, καί and δώσουσιν will give σημεῖα signs καί and τέρατα wonders, πρός so as τό - ἀποπλανᾶν, to deceive εἰ if δυνατόν, possible, τούς the ἐκλεκτούς. elect. ὑμεῖς You δέ however βλέπετε· take heed; προείρηκα I have foretold ὑμῖν to you πάντα. all things.
Ἀλλά But ἐν in ἐκείναις those ταῖς - ἡμέραις days, μετά after τήν the θλῖψιν tribulation ἐκείνην those, ὁ The ἥλιος sun σκοτισθήσεται, will be darkened, Καί and ἡ the σελήνη moon οὐ not δώσει will give τό the φέγγος light αὐτῆς, of it; Καί and οἱ the ἀστέρες stars ἔσονται will be ἐκ out of τοῦ the οὐρανοῦ heaven πίπτοντες, falling, Καί and αἱ the δυνάμεις powers αἱ that [are] ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς heavens σαλευθήσονται. will be shaken.’
Καί And τότε then ὄψονται will they see τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐρχόμενον coming ἐν in νεφέλαις [the] clouds, μετά with δυνάμεως power πολλῆς great καί and δόξης. glory. καί And τότε then ἀποστελεῖ He will send τούς the ἀγγέλους angels, καί and ἐπισυνάξει will gather together τούς the ἐκλεκτούς elect αὐτοῦ of Him, ἐκ from τῶν the τεσσάρων four ἀνέμων winds, ἀπ ̓ from [the] ἄκρου end γῆς of earth ἕως to [the] ἄκρου end οὐρανοῦ. of heaven.
Ἀπό Of δέ now τῆς the συκῆς fig tree, μάθετε learn τήν the παραβολήν· parable: ὅταν When ἤδη already ὁ the κλάδος branch αὐτῆς of it ἁπαλός tender γένηται has become, καί and ἐκφύῃ it puts forth τά the φύλλα, leaves, γινώσκετε you know ὅτι that ἐγγύς near τό the θέρος summer ἐστίν· is. οὕτως So καί also ὑμεῖς, you, ὅταν when ἴδητε you see ταῦτα these things γινόμενα, coming to pass, γινώσκετε know ὅτι that ἐγγύς near ἐστίν He is, ἐπί at [the] θύραις. doors.
ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that οὐ no μή not παρέλθῃ will have passed away ἡ the γενεά generation αὕτη this μέχρις until οὗ that ταῦτα these things πάντα all γένηται. shall have taken place. ὁ The οὐρανός heaven καί and ἡ the γῆ earth παρελεύσονται, will pass away, οἱ - δέ but λόγοι the words μου of Me οὐ in no way μή not παρελεύσονται. will pass away.
Περί Concerning δέ now τῆς the ἡμέρας day ἐκείνης that, ἤ or τῆς the ὥρας hour, οὐδείς no one οἶδεν, knows; οὐδέ not even οἱ the ἄγγελοι angels ἐν in οὐρανῷ heaven, οὐδέ nor ὁ the Υἱός, Son, εἰ if μή not ὁ the Πατήρ. Father.
Βλέπετε, Take heed; ἀγρυπνεῖτε· watch; οὐ not οἴδατε you know γάρ for πότε when ὁ the καιρός time ἐστίν. is. ὡς [It is] like ἄνθρωπος a man ἀπόδημος going on a journey, ἀφείς having left τήν the οἰκίαν house αὐτοῦ of him, καί and δούς having given τοῖς the δούλοις servants αὐτοῦ of him τήν - ἐξουσίαν authority, ἑκάστῳ to each one τό the ἔργον work αὐτοῦ of him. καί And τῷ the θυρωρῷ doorkeeper ἐνετείλατο he commanded ἵνα that γρηγορῇ. he should keep watch. γρηγορεῖτε Watch οὖν· therefore — οὐ not οἴδατε you know γάρ for πότε when ὁ the κύριος master τῆς of the οἰκίας house ἔρχεται, comes, ἤ or ὀψέ at evening, ἤ or μεσονύκτιον at midnight, ἤ or ἀλεκτοροφωνίας when the rooster crows, ἤ or πρωΐ, morning — μή lest ἐλθών having come ἐξαίφνης suddenly, εὕρῃ he should find ὑμᾶς you καθεύδοντας. sleeping. ὅ What δέ now ὑμῖν to you λέγω I say, πᾶσιν to all λέγω, I say: γρηγορεῖτε. Watch!
Ἦν It would be δέ now τό the πάσχα Passover καί and τά the ἄζυμα [Feast of] Unleavened Bread, μετά after δύο two ἡμέρας. days. καί And ἐζήτουν were seeking οἱ the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests καί and οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes πῶς how, αὐτόν Him ἐν by δόλῳ stealth κρατήσαντες having taken, ἀποκτείνωσιν· they might kill [Him]. ἔλεγον They were saying γάρ· for, Μή Not ἐν during τῇ the ἑορτῇ, feast, μήποτε lest ever ἔσται there will be θόρυβος an uproar τοῦ of the λαοῦ. people.
Καί And ὄντος being αὐτοῦ of Him ἐν in Βηθανίᾳ Bethany ἐν in τῇ the οἰκίᾳ house Σίμωνος of Simon τοῦ the λεπροῦ, leper, κατακειμένου having reclined αὐτοῦ of Him, ἦλθεν came γυνή a woman ἔχουσα having ἀλάβαστρον an alabaster flask μύρου of fragrant oil νάρδου of nard πιστικῆς pure πολυτελοῦς, of great price; συντρίψασα having broken τήν the ἀλάβαστρον alabaster flask, κατέχεεν she poured [it] on αὐτοῦ His τῆς - κεφαλῆς. head. Ἦσαν Were δέ now τινές some ἀγανακτοῦντες indignant πρός within ἑαυτούς· themselves: εἰς To τί what ἡ the ἀπώλεια waste αὕτη this τοῦ of the μύρου fragrant oil γέγονεν; has been made? ἠδύνατο Could γάρ for τοῦτο this τό - μύρον fragrant oil πραθῆναι to have been sold ἐπάνω for above δηναρίων denarii τριακοσίων three hundred, καί and δοθῆναι to have been given τοῖς to the πτωχοῖς· poor. καί And ἐνεβριμῶντο they were grumbling αὐτῇ. at her. ὁ - δέ And Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν· said, Ἄφετε Leave alone αὐτήν· her; τί why αὐτῇ to her κόπους trouble παρέχετε; do you cause? καλόν A good ἔργον work ἠργάσατο she did ἐν toward ἐμοί. Me. πάντοτε Always γάρ for τούς the πτωχούς poor ἔχετε you have μεθ ̓ with ἑαυτῶν you, καί and ὅταν whenever θέλητε you desire δύνασθε you are able αὐτοῖς them εὖ good ποιῆσαι, to do; ἐμέ Me δέ however οὐ not πάντοτε always ἔχετε. do you have. ὅ What ἔσχεν she could, ἐποίησεν· she did. προέλαβεν She came beforehand μυρίσαι to anoint τό the σῶμα body μου of Me εἰς for τόν the ἐνταφιασμόν. burial. ἀμήν Truly δέ now λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ὅπου wherever ἐάν if κηρυχθῇ shall be proclaimed τό the εὐαγγέλιον gospel εἰς in ὅλον whole τόν the κόσμον, world, καί also ὅ what ἐποίησεν has done αὕτη this [woman] λαληθήσεται will be spoken of εἰς for μνημόσυνον a memorial αὐτῆς. of her.
Καί And Ἰούδας Judas Ἰσκαριώθ Iscariot, ὁ - εἷς one τῶν of the δώδεκα Twelve, ἀπῆλθεν went away πρός to τούς the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests, ἵνα that αὐτόν Him παραδοῖ he might betray αὐτοῖς. to them. οἱ - δέ And ἀκούσαντες having heard, ἐχάρησαν they rejoiced, καί and ἐπηγγείλαντο promised αὐτῷ him ἀργύριον money δοῦναι. to give. καί And ἐζήτει he was seeking πῶς how αὐτόν Him εὐκαίρως conveniently παραδοῖ. he might deliver up.
Καί And τῇ on the πρώτῃ first ἡμέρᾳ day τῶν - ἀζύμων, of unleavened [bread], ὅτε when τό the πάσχα Passover lamb ἔθυον, they were to sacrifice, λέγουσιν say αὐτῷ to Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Ποῦ Where θέλεις do You desire [that], ἀπελθόντες having gone, ἑτοιμάσωμεν we should prepare ἵνα that φάγῃς You may eat τό the πάσχα; Passover? Καί And ἀποστέλλει He sends forth δύο two τῶν of the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ of Him καί and λέγει says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ὑπάγετε Go εἰς into τήν the πόλιν, city, καί and ἀπαντήσει will meet ὑμῖν you ἄνθρωπος a man, κεράμιον a pitcher ὕδατος of water βαστάζων· carrying. ἀκολουθήσατε Follow αὐτῷ him. καί And ὅπου wherever ἐάν if εἰσέλθῃ he might enter, εἴπατε say τῷ to the οἰκοδεσπότῃ master of the house ὅτι that ὁ the Διδάσκαλος Teacher λέγει· says, Ποῦ Where ἐστίν is τό the κατάλυμα guest room μου of Me, ὅπου where τό the πάσχα Passover μετά with τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples μου of Me φάγω; I may eat? καί And αὐτός he ὑμῖν you δείξει will show ἀνάγαιον an upper room μέγα large, ἐστρωμένον having been furnished ἕτοιμον· [and] ready. καί And ἐκεῖ there ἑτοιμάσατε prepare ἡμῖν. for us. Καί And ἐξῆλθον went away οἱ - μαθηταί his disciples, καί and ἦλθον came εἰς into τήν the πόλιν city, καί and εὗρον found καθώς as εἶπεν He had said αὐτοῖς to them, καί and ἡτοίμασαν they prepared τό the πάσχα. Passover.
Καί And ὀψίας evening γενομένης having arrived, ἔρχεται He comes μετά with τῶν the δώδεκα. Twelve. Καί And ἀνακειμένων as were reclining αὐτῶν they, καί and ἐσθιόντων were eating, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν· said, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that εἷς one ἐκ of ὑμῶν you παραδώσει will betray με Me, ὁ who ἐσθίων is eating μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ. Me. ἤρξαντο They began λυπεῖσθαι to be grieved καί and λέγειν to say αὐτῷ to Him εἷς one κατά by εἷς· one, Μήτι Surely not ἐγώ; I? ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Εἷς [It is] one of τῶν the δώδεκα, Twelve, ὁ who ἐμβαπτόμενος is dipping μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ Me εἰς in τό the τρύβλιον. bowl. ὅτι For ὁ - μέν indeed Υἱός the Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ὑπάγει goes καθώς as γέγραπται it has been written περί concerning αὐτοῦ, Him; οὐαί woe δέ however τῷ to the ἀνθρώπῳ man ἐκείνῳ that δι ̓ by οὗ whom ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man παραδίδοται· is betrayed; καλόν better αὐτῷ for him [it were] εἰ if οὐ not ἐγεννήθη had been born ὁ the ἄνθρωπος man ἐκεῖνος. that.
Καί And ἐσθιόντων they were eating αὐτῶν of them, λαβών having taken ἄρτον bread, εὐλογήσας having spoken a blessing, ἔκλασεν He broke, καί and ἔδωκεν gave αὐτοῖς to them, καί and εἶπεν· said, Λάβετε, Take; τοῦτο this ἐστίν is τό the σῶμα body μου. of Me. Καί And λαβών having taken ποτήριον the cup, εὐχαριστήσας having given thanks, ἔδωκεν He gave [it] αὐτοῖς, to them, καί and ἔπιον they drank ἐκ of αὐτοῦ it πάντες. all. καί And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Τοῦτο This ἐστίν is τό the αἷμα blood μου of Me τῆς of the διαθήκης covenant, τό which ἐκχυννόμενον is being poured out ὑπέρ for πολλῶν. many. ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that οὐκέτι no more οὐ never μή not πίω will I drink ἐκ of τοῦ the γενήματος fruit τῆς of the ἀμπέλου vine, ἕως until τῆς the ἡμέρας day ἐκείνης that ὅταν when αὐτό it πίνω I drink καινόν anew ἐν in τῇ the βασιλείᾳ kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God.
Καί And ὑμνήσαντες having sung a hymn, ἐξῆλθον they went out εἰς to τό the ὄρος Mount τῶν - Ἐλαιῶν. of Olives. Καί And λέγει says αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὅτι -, Πάντες All σκανδαλισθήσεσθε, you will fall away, ὅτι for γέγραπται· it has been written: Πατάξω I will strike τόν the ποιμένα, shepherd, Καί and τά the πρόβατα sheep διασκορπισθήσονται. will be scattered.’
Ἀλλά But μετά after τό - ἐγερθῆναι having arisen, με I προάξω will go before ὑμᾶς you εἰς into τήν - Γαλιλαίαν. Galilee. ὁ - δέ And Πέτρος Peter ἔφη was saying αὐτῷ· to Him, εἰ If καί even πάντες all σκανδαλισθήσονται, will fall away, ἀλλ ̓ yet οὐ not ἐγώ. I. Καί And λέγει says αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say σοι to you ὅτι that σύ yourself σήμερον now ταύτῃ this τῇ - νυκτί night, πρίν before ἤ that δίς twice ἀλέκτορα [the] rooster φωνῆσαι crows, τρίς three times με Me ἀπαρνήσῃ. you will deny. ὁ - δέ And ἐκπερισσῶς emphatically ἐλάλει· he kept saying, Ἐάν If δέῃ it is needful με of me συναποθανεῖν to die with σοι, You, οὐ no μή not σε You ἀπαρνήσομαι. will I deny. ὡσαύτως Likewise δέ now καί also πάντες all ἔλεγον. of them were saying.
Καί And ἔρχονται they come εἰς to χωρίον a place, οὗ of which τό the ὄνομα name [is] Γεθσημανί Gethsemane; καί and λέγει He says τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Καθίσατε Sit ὧδε here, ἕως while προσεύξωμαι. I shall pray. καί And παραλαμβάνει He takes τόν - Πέτρον Peter καί and τόν - Ἰάκωβον James καί and τόν - Ἰωάννην John μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ Him; καί and ἤρξατο He began ἐκθαμβεῖσθαι to be greatly awe-struck καί and ἀδημονεῖν deeply distressed. καί And λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Περίλυπος Very sorrowful ἐστίν is ἡ the ψυχή soul μου of Me, ἕως even to θανάτου· death; μείνατε remain ὧδε here καί and γρηγορεῖτε. watch. Καί And προελθών having gone forward μικρόν a little, ἔπιπτεν He fell ἐπί upon τῆς the γῆς ground καί and προσηύχετο was praying ἵνα that, εἰ if δυνατόν possible ἐστίν it is, παρέλθῃ might pass ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ Him ἡ the ὥρα, hour. καί And ἔλεγεν· He was saying, Ἀββᾶ Abba, ὁ - Πατήρ, Father, πάντα all things [are] δυνατά possible σοι· to You; παρένεγκε take away τό the ποτήριον cup τοῦτο this ἀπ ̓ from ἐμοῦ· Me; ἀλλ ̓ but οὐ not τί what ἐγώ I θέλω will, ἀλλά but τί what σύ. You.
