Καί And ἔρχονται come Σαδδουκαῖοι Sadducees πρός to αὐτόν, Him, οἵτινες who λέγουσιν say ἀνάστασιν a resurrection μή not εἶναι, there is, καί and ἐπηρώτων they began questioning αὐτόν Him, λέγοντες· saying, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, Μωϋσῆς Moses ἔγραψεν wrote ἡμῖν for us ὅτι that ἐάν if τινός of anyone ἀδελφός a brother ἀποθάνῃ should die, καί and καταλίπῃ leave behind γυναῖκα a wife, καί and μή not ἀφῇ leave τέκνον, children, ἵνα that λάβῃ should take ὁ the ἀδελφός brother αὐτοῦ of him τήν the γυναῖκα wife, καί and ἐξαναστήσῃ raise up σπέρμα seed τῷ for the ἀδελφῷ brother αὐτοῦ. of him. ἑπτά Seven ἀδελφοί brothers ἦσαν· there were; καί and ὁ the πρῶτος first ἔλαβεν took γυναῖκα a wife, καί and, ἀποθνῄσκων dying, οὐ not ἀφῆκεν left σπέρμα· seed. καί And ὁ the δεύτερος second ἔλαβεν took αὐτήν her, καί and ἀπέθανεν died, μή not καταλιπών having left σπέρμα· seed; καί and ὁ the τρίτος third ὡσαύτως· likewise. καί And οἱ the ἑπτά seven οὐ not ἀφῆκαν left σπέρμα. seed. ἔσχατον Last πάντων of all καί also, ἡ the γυνή woman ἀπέθανεν. died. ἐν In τῇ the ἀναστάσει resurrection, ὅταν when ἀναστῶσιν they rise, τίνος of which αὐτῶν of them ἔσται will she be γυνή; wife? οἱ - γάρ For ἑπτά the seven ἔσχον had αὐτήν her γυναῖκα. as wife. Περί Concerning δέ now τῶν the νεκρῶν dead, ὅτι that ἐγείρονται they rise, οὐ not ἀνέγνωτε have you read ἐν in τῇ the βίβλῳ book Μωϋσέως of Moses, ἐπί on τοῦ the Βάτου bush, πῶς how εἶπεν spoke αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Θεός God, λέγων· saying, Ἐγώ I [am] ὁ the Θεός God Ἀβραάμ of Abraham, καί and ὁ the Θεός God Ἰσαάκ of Isaac, καί and ὁ the Θεός God Ἰακώβ; of Jacob’ οὐ Not ἔστιν He is Θεός God νεκρῶν of [the] dead, ἀλλά but ζώντων· of [the] living. πολύ Greatly πλανᾶσθε. you err.
Καί And προσελθών having come up εἷς one τῶν of the γραμματέων scribes, ἀκούσας having heard αὐτῶν them συζητούντων, reasoning together, ἰδών having seen ὅτι that καλῶς well ἀπεκρίθη He answered αὐτοῖς them, ἐπηρώτησεν he questioned αὐτόν· Him, Ποία Which ἐστίν is ἐντολή commandment πρώτη [the] first πάντων; of all? Ἀπεκρίθη Answered ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, Ὅτι The Πρώτη foremost ἐστίν· is, Ἄκουε, Hear this Ἰσραήλ, O Israel: Κύριος [The] Lord ὁ - Θεός God ἡμῶν of us, Κύριος [the] Lord εἷς One ἐστίν, is, καί and ἀγαπήσεις you shall love Κύριον [the] Lord τόν - Θεόν God σου of you ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the καρδίας heart σου of you, καί and ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the ψυχῆς soul σου of you, καί and ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the διανοίας mind σου of you, καί and ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the ἰσχύος strength σου. of you.’ δευτέρα [The] second αὕτη· this: Ἀγαπήσεις You shall love τόν the πλησίον neighbor σου of you ὡς as σεαυτόν. yourself.’ μείζων Greater τούτων than these ἄλλη another ἐντολή commandment οὐ not ἔστιν. there is. Καί And εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to Him ὁ the γραμματεύς· scribe, Καλῶς, Right, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, ἐπ ̓ according to ἀληθείας truth εἶπες You have spoken ὅτι that εἷς One ἐστίν He is, καί and οὐ not ἔστιν there is ἄλλος another πλήν besides αὐτοῦ· Him, καί and τό - ἀγαπᾶν to love αὐτόν Him ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the καρδίας heart καί and ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the συνέσεως understanding καί and ἐκ with ὅλης all τῆς the ἰσχύος strength, καί and τό - ἀγαπᾶν to love τόν the πλησίον neighbor ὡς as ἑαυτόν oneself περισσότερον more important ἐστίν is πάντων than all τῶν the ὁλοκαυτωμάτων burnt offerings καί and θυσιῶν. sacrifices. Καί And ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, ἰδών having seen αὐτόν him ὅτι that νουνεχῶς wisely ἀπεκρίθη he answered, εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, οὐ Not μακράν far εἶ are you ἀπό from τῆς the βασιλείας kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ. of God. καί And οὐδείς no one οὐκέτι no longer ἐτόλμα dared αὐτόν Him ἐπερωτῆσαι. to question.
Καί And ἀποκριθείς answering, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἔλεγεν was saying, διδάσκων teaching ἐν in τῷ the ἱερῷ· temple, Πῶς How λέγουσιν say οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes ὅτι that ὁ the Χριστός Christ, υἱός [the] son Δαυίδ of David ἐστίν; is? αὐτός Himself Δαυίδ David εἶπεν said ἐν by τῷ the Πνεύματι Spirit τῷ - Ἁγίῳ· Holy: Εἶπεν Said Κύριος [the] Lord τῷ to the Κυρίῳ Lord μου· of me, Κάθου Sit ἐκ at δεξιῶν [the] right hand μου, of Me, Ἕως until ἄν - θῶ I place τούς of the ἐχθρούς enemies σου of You Ὑποκάτω [as] a footstool τῶν of the ποδῶν feet σου. of You.”’
Αὐτός Himself Δαυίδ David λέγει calls αὐτόν Him Κύριον, Lord, καί then πόθεν how αὐτοῦ of him ἐστίν is He υἱός; son?
Καί And ὁ the πολύς great ὄχλος crowd ἤκουεν was listening αὐτοῦ to Him ἡδέως. gladly.
Καί And ἐν in τῇ the διδαχῇ teaching αὐτοῦ of Him, ἔλεγεν· He was saying, Βλέπετε Beware ἀπό of τῶν the γραμματέων scribes, τῶν - θελόντων desiring ἐν in στολαῖς robes περιπατεῖν to walk about, καί and ἀσπασμούς greetings ἐν in ταῖς the ἀγοραῖς marketplaces, καί and πρωτοκαθεδρίας first seats ἐν in ταῖς the συναγωγαῖς synagogues, καί and πρωτοκλισίας first places ἐν at τοῖς the δείπνοις, feasts; οἱ those κατεσθίοντες devouring τάς the οἰκίας houses τῶν of the χηρῶν widows, καί and προφάσει as a pretext, μακρά at great length προσευχόμενοι· praying. οὗτοι These λήμψονται will receive περισσότερον greater κρίμα. judgment.
Καί And καθίσας having sat down κατέναντι opposite τοῦ the γαζοφυλακίου treasury, ἐθεώρει He was watching πῶς how ὁ the ὄχλος crowd βάλλει cast χαλκόν money εἰς into τό the γαζοφυλάκιον. treasury; καί and πολλοί many πλούσιοι rich ἔβαλλον were casting [in] πολλά· much. καί And ἐλθοῦσα having come, μία one χήρα widow πτωχή poor ἔβαλεν cast [in] λεπτά lepta δύο, two, ὅ which ἐστίν is κοδράντης. a kodrantes. Καί And προσκαλεσάμενος having called to [Him] τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, εἶπεν He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that ἡ the χήρα widow αὕτη this ἡ - πτωχή poor, πλεῖον more πάντων than all ἔβαλεν has cast [in] τῶν of those βαλλόντων casting εἰς into τό the γαζοφυλάκιον· treasury. πάντες All γάρ for ἐκ out of τοῦ that which περισσεύοντος was abounding αὐτοῖς to them ἔβαλον, cast [in]; αὕτη she δέ however, ἐκ out of τῆς the ὑστερήσεως poverty αὐτῆς of her, πάντα all ὅσα as much as εἶχεν she had ἔβαλεν cast [in], ὅλον all τόν the βίον livelihood αὐτῆς. of her.
Καί And ἐκπορευομένου going forth αὐτοῦ of Him ἐκ out of τοῦ the ἱεροῦ temple, λέγει says αὐτῷ to Him εἷς one τῶν of the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, ἴδε behold ποταποί what λίθοι stones καί and ποταπαί what οἰκοδομαί. buildings! Καί And ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Βλέπεις See you ταύτας these τάς - μεγάλας great οἰκοδομάς; buildings? οὐ No μή not ἀφεθῇ shall be left ὧδε here λίθος stone ἐπί upon λίθον stone, ὅς which οὐ no μή not καταλυθῇ. shall be thrown down. Καί And καθημένου sitting αὐτοῦ of Him εἰς upon τό the ὄρος Mount τῶν - Ἐλαιῶν of Olives, κατέναντι opposite τοῦ the ἱεροῦ temple, ἐπηρώτα asked αὐτόν Him κατ ̓ in ἰδίαν private Πέτρος Peter καί and Ἰάκωβος James καί and Ἰωάννης John καί and Ἀνδρέας· Andrew, Εἰπόν Tell ἡμῖν, us πότε when ταῦτα these things ἔσται will be? καί And τί what [will be] τό the σημεῖον sign ὅταν when μέλλῃ are going ταῦτα these things συντελεῖσθαι to be accomplished πάντα; all? ὁ - δέ And Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἤρξατο began λέγειν to say αὐτοῖς· to them, Βλέπετε Take heed, μή lest τὶς anyone ὑμᾶς you πλανήσῃ· mislead. πολλοί Many ἐλεύσονται will come ἐπί in τῷ the ὀνόματι name μου of Me, λέγοντες saying ὅτι -, Ἐγώ I εἰμί, am [He], καί and πολλούς many πλανήσουσιν. they will mislead. ὅταν When δέ then ἀκούσητε you shall hear of πολέμους wars καί and ἀκοάς rumors πολέμων, of wars, μή not θροεῖσθε· be disturbed; δεῖ it must γενέσθαι, come to pass, ἀλλ ̓ but οὔπω not yet [is] τό the τέλος. end. ἐγερθήσεται Will rise up γάρ for ἔθνος nation ἐπ ̓ against ἔθνος nation, καί and βασιλεία kingdom ἐπί against βασιλείαν, kingdom. ἔσονται There will be σεισμοί earthquakes κατά throughout τόπους, places; ἔσονται there will be λιμοί· famines. ἀρχή [The] beginning ὠδίνων of birth pains [are] ταῦτα. these.
Βλέπετε Take heed δέ however ὑμεῖς you ἑαυτούς· to yourselves; παραδώσουσιν they will betray ὑμᾶς you εἰς to συνέδρια courts καί and εἰς in συναγωγάς synagogues; δαρήσεσθε you will be beaten, καί and ἐπί before ἡγεμόνων governors καί and βασιλέων kings σταθήσεσθε you will stand ἕνεκεν because ἐμοῦ of Me, εἰς for μαρτύριον a testimony αὐτοῖς. to them. καί And εἰς to πάντα all τά the ἔθνη nations πρῶτον first δεῖ it behooves κηρυχθῆναι to proclaim τό the εὐαγγέλιον. gospel. καί And ὅταν when ἄγωσιν they might lead away ὑμᾶς you, παραδιδόντες, delivering [you] up, μή not προμεριμνᾶτε be anxious beforehand τί what λαλήσητε, you should say, ἀλλ ̓ but ὅ whatever ἐάν if δοθῇ might be given ὑμῖν to you, ἐν in ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ὥρᾳ hour, τοῦτο that λαλεῖτε· speak; οὐ not γάρ for ἐστέ are ὑμεῖς you οἱ those λαλοῦντες speaking, ἀλλά but τό the Πνεῦμα Spirit τό - Ἅγιον. Holy. Καί And παραδώσει will deliver up ἀδελφός brother, ἀδελφόν brother εἰς to θάνατον death, καί and πατήρ father, τέκνον, child; καί and ἐπαναστήσονται will rise up τέκνα children ἐπί against γονεῖς parents, καί and θανατώσουσιν will put to death αὐτούς· them. καί And ἔσεσθε you will be μισούμενοι hated ὑπό by πάντων all διά on account of τό the ὄνομα name μου. of Me; ὁ the [one] δέ however ὑπομείνας having endured εἰς to τέλος [the] end, οὗτος he σωθήσεται. will be saved.
Ὅταν When δέ then ἴδητε you see τό the βδέλυγμα abomination τῆς of the ἐρημώσεως desolation ἑστηκότα standing ὅπου where οὐ not δεῖ, it should — ὁ the [one] ἀναγινώσκων reading, νοείτω, let him understand — τότε then οἱ those ἐν in τῇ - Ἰουδαίᾳ Judea, φευγέτωσαν let them flee εἰς to τά the ὄρη, mountains, ὁ the [one] δέ and ἐπί upon τοῦ the δώματος housetop, μή not καταβάτω let him come down, μηδέ nor εἰσελθάτω go in ἆραι to take τὶ anything ἐκ out of τῆς the οἰκίας house αὐτοῦ, of him; καί and ὁ the [one] εἰς in τόν the ἀγρόν field, μή not ἐπιστρεψάτω let him return εἰς to τά the things ὀπίσω behind, ἆραι to take τό the ἱμάτιον clothing αὐτοῦ. of him. Οὐαί Woe δέ then ταῖς to those ἐν in γαστρί womb ἐχούσαις having, καί and ταῖς to the [ones] θηλαζούσαις nursing infants ἐν in ἐκείναις those ταῖς - ἡμέραις. days!
προσεύχεσθε Pray δέ then ἵνα that it μή not γένηται might be χειμῶνος· in winter; ἔσονται will be [in] γάρ for αἱ the ἡμέραι days ἐκεῖναι those θλῖψις tribulation, οἵα such as οὐ never γέγονεν has been τοιαύτη the like, ἀπ ̓ from [the] ἀρχῆς beginning κτίσεως of creation, ἥν which ἔκτισεν created ὁ - Θεός God, ἕως until τοῦ - νῦν now — καί and οὐ never μή not γένηται. shall be. καί And εἰ if μή not ἐκολόβωσεν had shortened Κύριος [the] Lord τάς the ἡμέρας, days, οὐ no ἄν - ἐσώθη there would have been saved πᾶσα any σάρξ· flesh; ἀλλά but διά on account of τούς the ἐκλεκτούς elect οὕς whom ἐξελέξατο He chose, ἐκολόβωσεν He has shortened τάς the ἡμέρας. days.
Καί And τότε then ἐάν if τὶς anyone ὑμῖν to you εἴπῃ· says, Ἴδε Behold, ὧδε here [is] ὁ the Χριστός, Christ! Ἴδε Behold, ἐκεῖ, there! μή not πιστεύετε· you shall believe [it]. ἐγερθήσονται There will arise γάρ for ψευδόχριστοι false Christs καί and ψευδοπροφῆται false prophets, καί and δώσουσιν will give σημεῖα signs καί and τέρατα wonders, πρός so as τό - ἀποπλανᾶν, to deceive εἰ if δυνατόν, possible, τούς the ἐκλεκτούς. elect. ὑμεῖς You δέ however βλέπετε· take heed; προείρηκα I have foretold ὑμῖν to you πάντα. all things.
Ἀλλά But ἐν in ἐκείναις those ταῖς - ἡμέραις days, μετά after τήν the θλῖψιν tribulation ἐκείνην those, ὁ The ἥλιος sun σκοτισθήσεται, will be darkened, Καί and ἡ the σελήνη moon οὐ not δώσει will give τό the φέγγος light αὐτῆς, of it; Καί and οἱ the ἀστέρες stars ἔσονται will be ἐκ out of τοῦ the οὐρανοῦ heaven πίπτοντες, falling, Καί and αἱ the δυνάμεις powers αἱ that [are] ἐν in τοῖς the οὐρανοῖς heavens σαλευθήσονται. will be shaken.’
Καί And τότε then ὄψονται will they see τόν the Υἱόν Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐρχόμενον coming ἐν in νεφέλαις [the] clouds, μετά with δυνάμεως power πολλῆς great καί and δόξης. glory. καί And τότε then ἀποστελεῖ He will send τούς the ἀγγέλους angels, καί and ἐπισυνάξει will gather together τούς the ἐκλεκτούς elect αὐτοῦ of Him, ἐκ from τῶν the τεσσάρων four ἀνέμων winds, ἀπ ̓ from [the] ἄκρου end γῆς of earth ἕως to [the] ἄκρου end οὐρανοῦ. of heaven.
Ἀπό Of δέ now τῆς the συκῆς fig tree, μάθετε learn τήν the παραβολήν· parable: ὅταν When ἤδη already ὁ the κλάδος branch αὐτῆς of it ἁπαλός tender γένηται has become, καί and ἐκφύῃ it puts forth τά the φύλλα, leaves, γινώσκετε you know ὅτι that ἐγγύς near τό the θέρος summer ἐστίν· is. οὕτως So καί also ὑμεῖς, you, ὅταν when ἴδητε you see ταῦτα these things γινόμενα, coming to pass, γινώσκετε know ὅτι that ἐγγύς near ἐστίν He is, ἐπί at [the] θύραις. doors.
