Καί And ἐξῆλθον went out οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees καί and ἤρξαντο began συζητεῖν to dispute with αὐτῷ, Him, ζητοῦντες seeking παρ ̓ from αὐτοῦ Him σημεῖον a sign ἀπό from τοῦ - οὐρανοῦ, heaven, πειράζοντες testing αὐτόν. Him. Καί And ἀναστενάξας having sighed deeply τῷ in the πνεύματι spirit αὐτοῦ of Him, λέγει· He says, Τί Why ἡ the γενεά generation αὕτη this ζητεῖ seeks σημεῖον; a sign? ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, εἰ if δοθήσεται there will be given τῇ to the γενεᾷ generation ταύτῃ this σημεῖον. a sign. καί And ἀφείς having left αὐτούς them, πάλιν again ἐμβάς having embarked, ἀπῆλθεν He went away εἰς to τό the πέραν. other side.

Καί And γνούς having known [it], λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Τί Why διαλογίζεσθε reason you ὅτι because ἄρτους loaves οὐ not ἔχετε; you have? οὔπω Not yet νοεῖτε do you perceive οὐδέ nor συνίετε; understand? πεπωρωμένην Hardened ἔχετε do you have τήν the καρδίαν heart ὑμῶν; of you? Ὀφθαλμούς Eyes ἔχοντες having, οὐ not βλέπετε do you see? καί And ὦτα ears ἔχοντες having, οὐ not ἀκούετε; do you hear?
καί And οὐ not μνημονεύετε, do you remember?
ὅτε When τούς the πέντε five ἄρτους loaves ἔκλασα I broke εἰς for τούς the πεντακισχιλίους, five thousand, πόσους how many κοφίνους hand-baskets κλασμάτων of fragments πλήρεις full ἤρατε; took you up? Λέγουσιν They say αὐτῷ· to Him, Δώδεκα. Twelve. He was speaking. καί And προσλαβόμενος having taken Him ὁ - Πέτρος Peter αὐτόν to him, ἤρξατο he began ἐπιτιμᾶν to rebuke αὐτῷ. Καί And προσκαλεσάμενος having called to [Him] τόν the ὄχλον crowd σύν with τοῖς the μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Εἴ If τὶς anyone θέλει desires ὀπίσω after μου Me ἀκολουθεῖν, to follow, ἀπαρνησάσθω let him deny ἑαυτόν himself, καί and ἀράτω let him take up τόν the σταυρόν cross αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἀκολουθείτω let him follow μοι. Me. ὅς Whoever γάρ for ἐάν if θέλῃ might desire τήν - ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ his σῶσαι to save, ἀπολέσει will lose αὐτήν· it; ὅς whoever δ ̓ now ἄν - ἀπολέσει will lose τήν the ψυχήν life αὐτοῦ of him ἕνεκεν on account of ἐμοῦ Me καί and τοῦ of the εὐαγγελίου gospel, σώσει he will save αὐτήν. it. Καί And ἐλθόντες having come πρός to τούς the μαθητάς disciples, εἶδον they saw ὄχλον a crowd πολύν great περί around αὐτούς them, καί and γραμματεῖς scribes συζητοῦντας arguing πρός with αὐτούς. them. καί And εὐθύς immediately πᾶς all ὁ the ὄχλος crowd, ἰδόντες having seen αὐτόν Him, ἐξεθαμβήθησαν were greatly amazed, καί and προστρέχοντες running to [Him], ἠσπάζοντο were greeting αὐτόν. Him. Καί And ἐπηρώτησεν He asked αὐτούς· them, Τί What συζητεῖτε are you disputing πρός with αὑτούς; them? Καί And ἀπεκρίθη answered αὐτῷ Him εἷς one ἐκ out of τοῦ the ὄχλου· crowd, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, ἤνεγκα I brought τόν the υἱόν son μου of me πρός to σέ, You, ἔχοντα having πνεῦμα a spirit ἄλαλον· mute; καί and ὅπου whenever ἐάν if αὐτόν him καταλάβῃ it seizes, ῥήσσει it throws down αὐτόν, him; καί and ἀφρίζει he foams, καί and τρίζει gnashes τούς - ὀδόντας his teeth, καί and ξηραίνεται· is withering away. καί And εἶπα I spoke τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples σου of You, ἵνα that αὐτό it ἐκβάλωσιν, they might cast out, καί and οὐ not ἴσχυσαν. they had power. ὁ - δέ And ἀποκριθείς answering αὐτοῖς him, λέγει· He says, Ὦ O γενεά generation ἄπιστος, unbelieving! ἕως Until πότε when πρός with ὑμᾶς you ἔσομαι; will I be? ἕως Until πότε when ἀνέξομαι will I bear with ὑμῶν; you? φέρετε Bring αὐτόν him πρός to με. Me. Καί And ἤνεγκαν they brought αὐτόν him πρός to αὐτόν. Him. καί And ἰδών having seen αὐτόν Him, τό the πνεῦμα spirit εὐθύς immediately συνεσπάραξεν threw into convulsions αὐτόν, him, καί and πεσών having fallen ἐπί upon τῆς the γῆς ground, ἐκυλίετο he began rolling around, ἀφρίζων. foaming. Καί And ἐπηρώτησεν He asked τόν the πατέρα father αὐτοῦ· of him, Πόσος How long χρόνος a time ἐστίν is it ὡς that τοῦτο this γέγονεν has been αὐτῷ; with him? ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν· he said, ἐκ From παιδιόθεν· childhood. καί And πολλάκις often καί both εἰς into πῦρ fire αὐτόν him ἔβαλεν it casts, καί and εἰς into ὕδατα waters, ἵνα that ἀπολέσῃ it might destroy αὐτόν· him. ἀλλ ̓ But εἴ if τὶ anything δύνῃ, You are able [to do], βοήθησον help ἡμῖν us, σπλαγχνισθείς having compassion ἐφ ̓ on ἡμᾶς. us. ὁ - δέ And Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Τό - εἰ If δύνῃ, You are able? πάντα All things δυνατά are possible τῷ to the [one] πιστεύοντι. believing. Εὐθύς Immediately κράξας having cried out, ὁ the πατήρ father τοῦ of the παιδίου child ἔλεγεν· was saying, Πιστεύω· I believe; βοήθει help μου of me τῇ the ἀπιστίᾳ. unbelief! Ἰδών Having seen δέ now ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὅτι that ἐπισυντρέχει was running together ὄχλος, a crowd, ἐπετίμησεν He rebuked τῷ the πνεύματι spirit τῷ - ἀκαθάρτῳ unclean, λέγων saying αὐτῷ· to it, Τό - ἄλαλον Mute καί and κωφόν deaf πνεῦμα, spirit, ἐγώ I ἐπιτάσσω command σοι, you, ἔξελθε come ἐκ out of αὐτοῦ him, καί and μηκέτι no more εἰσέλθῃς may you enter εἰς into αὐτόν. him. Καί And κράξας having cried out, καί and πολλά much σπαράξας having thrown him into convulsions, ἐξῆλθεν· it came out; καί and ἐγένετο he became ὡσεί as if νεκρός, dead, ὥστε in order for τούς - πολλούς many λέγειν to say ὅτι that ἀπέθανεν. he was dead.
