Καί And ἀπῆλθον they went away ἐν by τῷ the πλοίῳ boat εἰς into ἔρημον [a] solitary τόπον place κατ ̓ by ἰδίαν. themselves. καί And εἶδον they saw αὐτούς them ὑπάγοντας going, καί and ἐπέγνωσαν recognized πολλοί many, καί and πεζῇ on foot ἀπό from πασῶν all τῶν the πόλεων cities συνέδραμον ran together ἐκεῖ there, καί and προῆλθον went before αὐτούς. them.
Καί And ἐξελθών having gone out, εἶδεν He saw πολύν a great ὄχλον crowd καί and ἐσπλαγχνίσθη was moved with compassion ἐπ ̓ toward αὐτούς, them, ὅτι because ἦσαν they were ὡς like πρόβατα sheep μή not ἔχοντα having ποιμένα, a shepherd. καί And ἤρξατο He began διδάσκειν to teach αὐτούς them πολλά. many things.
Καί And ἤδη already ὥρας the hour πολλῆς late γενομένης being, προσελθόντες having come αὐτῷ to Him, οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him ἔλεγον were saying ὅτι -, Ἔρημος Desolate ἐστίν is ὁ the τόπος place, καί and ἤδη already [it is] ὥρα an hour πολλή· late. ἀπόλυσον Dismiss αὐτούς, them, ἵνα that ἀπελθόντες having gone εἰς to τούς the κύκλῳ surrounding ἀγρούς region καί and κώμας villages, ἀγοράσωσιν they might buy ἑαυτοῖς for themselves τί something φάγωσιν. to eat. ὁ - δέ But ἀποκριθείς answering, εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Δότε Give αὐτοῖς to them ὑμεῖς you φαγεῖν. Jerusalem. καί And ἰδόντες they had seen τινάς some τῶν of the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ of Him ὅτι that κοιναῖς with defiled χερσίν, hands, τοῦτ ̓ that ἔστιν is ἀνίπτοις, unwashed, ἐσθίουσιν are eating τούς the ἄρτους— bread. οἱ - γάρ For Φαρισαῖοι the Pharisees καί and πάντες all οἱ the Ἰουδαῖοι Jews, ἐάν if μή not πυγμῇ carefully νίψωνται they wash τάς the χεῖρας hands, οὐ not ἐσθίουσιν, eat, κρατοῦντες holding τήν the παράδοσιν tradition τῶν of the πρεσβυτέρων, elders; καί and ἀπ ̓ [on coming] from ἀγορᾶς the market, ἐάν if μή not βαπτίσωνται they wash οὐ not ἐσθίουσιν, they eat; καί and ἄλλα other things πολλά many ἐστίν there are ἅ which παρέλαβον they received κρατεῖν, [for them] to hold to — βαπτισμούς washings ποτηρίων of cups καί and ξεστῶν vessels καί and χαλκίων utensils καί and κλινῶν— couches for dining. Καί And ἐπερωτῶσιν questioned αὐτόν Him οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees καί and οἱ the γραμματεῖς· scribes, Διά Because of τί why οὐ not περιπατοῦσιν walk οἱ the μαθηταί disciples σου of You κατά according to τήν the παράδοσιν tradition τῶν of the πρεσβυτέρων, elders, ἀλλά but κοιναῖς with unwashed χερσίν hands ἐσθίουσιν eat τόν the ἄρτον; bread?
ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Καλῶς Rightly ἐπροφήτευσεν prophesied Ἠσαΐας Isaiah περί concerning ὑμῶν you τῶν - ὑποκριτῶν, hypocrites, ὡς as γέγραπται it has been written ὅτι -: Οὗτος This ὁ - λαός people τοῖς with the χείλεσιν lips με Me τιμᾷ, honors, ἡ - δέ but καρδία the heart αὐτῶν of them πόρρω far away ἀπέχει is kept ἀπ ̓ from ἐμοῦ· Me. Μάτην In vain δέ now σέβονται they worship με Me, Διδάσκοντες teaching διδασκαλίας [as] doctrines ἐντάλματα [the] precepts ἀνθρώπων. of men.’
Ἀφέντες Having neglected τήν the ἐντολήν commandment τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, κρατεῖτε you hold τήν to the παράδοσιν tradition τῶν - ἀνθρώπων. of men.” Καί And ἔλεγεν He was saying αὐτοῖς· to them, Καλῶς Neatly ἀθετεῖτε do you set aside τήν the ἐντολήν commandment τοῦ - Θεοῦ, of God, ἵνα that τήν the παράδοσιν tradition ὑμῶν of you, τηρήσητε. you might keep. Μωϋσῆς Moses γάρ for εἶπεν· said, Τίμα Honor τόν the πατέρα Father σου of you καί and τήν the μητέρα mother σου, of you,’ καί· and, ὁ The [one] κακολογῶν speaking evil of πατέρα father ἤ or μητέρα mother, θανάτῳ in death τελευτάτω. must end.’ ὑμεῖς You δέ however λέγετε· say [that] Ἐάν if εἴπῃ says ἄνθρωπος a man τῷ to the πατρί father ἤ or τῇ the μητρί· mother, Κορβᾶν, [It is] Corban, ὅ that ἐστίν is, Δῶρον, a gift, Ὅ whatever ἐάν if ἐκ from ἐμοῦ me ὠφεληθῇς, you might be profited, οὐκέτι no longer ἀφίετε do you allow αὐτόν him οὐδέν anything ποιῆσαι to do τῷ for the πατρί father ἤ or τῇ the μητρί, mother, ἀκυροῦντες making void τόν the λόγον word τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God τῇ for the παραδόσει tradition ὑμῶν of you ᾗ which παρεδώκατε· you have handed down. καί And παρόμοια like [things] τοιαῦτα such πολλά many ποιεῖτε. you do.
Καί And προσκαλεσάμενος having called to [Him] πάλιν again τόν the ὄχλον crowd, ἔλεγεν He was saying αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀκούσατε Listen to μου Me, πάντες all, καί and σύνετε. understand: οὐδέν Nothing ἐστίν there is ἔξωθεν from outside τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου man εἰσπορευόμενον entering εἰς into αὐτόν him, ὅ which δύναται is able κοινῶσαι to defile αὐτόν, him; ἀλλά but τά the things ἐκ out of τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου man ἐκπορευόμενα proceeding ἐστίν are τά the things κοινοῦντα defiling τόν the ἄνθρωπον. man.” Καί And ὅτε when εἰσῆλθεν He went εἰς into οἶκον [the] house ἀπό from τοῦ the ὄχλου, crowd, ἐπηρώτων were asking αὐτόν Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ of Him τήν the παραβολήν. parable. Καί And λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Οὕτως Thus καί also ὑμεῖς you ἀσύνετοι without understanding ἐστέ; are? οὐ Not νοεῖτε understand you ὅτι that πᾶν everything τό - ἔξωθεν from outside εἰσπορευόμενον entering εἰς into τόν the ἄνθρωπον man, οὐ not δύναται is able αὐτόν him κοινῶσαι to defile, ὅτι because οὐ not εἰσπορεύεται it enters αὐτοῦ of him εἰς into τήν the καρδίαν heart, ἀλλ ̓ but εἰς into τήν the κοιλίαν, belly, καί and εἰς into τόν the ἀφεδρῶνα sewer ἐκπορεύεται, goes out?” καθαρίζων purifying πάντα all τά the βρώματα; food. Ἔλεγεν He was saying δέ now ὅτι -, Τό That ἐκ out of τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου man ἐκπορευόμενον, going forth, ἐκεῖνο that κοινοῖ defiles τόν the ἄνθρωπον. man. ἔσωθεν Within γάρ for ἐκ from τῆς the καρδίας heart τῶν - ἀνθρώπων of men οἱ - διαλογισμοί thoughts οἱ - κακοί evil ἐκπορεύονται, go forth, πορνεῖαι, sexual immorality, κλοπαί, thefts, φόνοι, murders, μοιχεῖαι, adulteries, πλεονεξίαι, covetous desires, πονηρίαι, wickednesses, δόλος, deceit, ἀσέλγεια, sensuality, ὀφθαλμός an eye πονηρός, evil, βλασφημία, slander, ὑπερηφανία, pride, ἀφροσύνη· foolishness. πάντα All ταῦτα these τά - πονηρά evils ἔσωθεν from within ἐκπορεύεται go forth, καί and κοινοῖ they defile τόν the ἄνθρωπον. man.
Ἐκεῖθεν From there δέ also ἀναστάς having risen up, ἀπῆλθεν He went away εἰς into τά the ὅρια region Τύρου. of Tyre. Καί And εἰσελθών having entered εἰς into οἰκίαν a house, οὐδένα no one ἤθελεν He was wishing γνῶναι, to know [it], καί and οὐ not ἠδυνήθη He was able λαθεῖν· to be hidden. ἀλλ ̓ But εὐθύς immediately ἀκούσασα having heard γυνή a woman περί about αὐτοῦ, Him, ἧς of whom εἶχεν had τό the θυγάτριον little daughter αὐτῆς of her πνεῦμα spirit ἀκάθαρτον, unclean, ἐλθοῦσα having come, προσέπεσεν fell πρός at τούς the πόδας feet αὐτοῦ· of Him. ἡ - δέ Now γυνή the woman ἦν was Ἑλληνίς, Gentile, Συροφοινίκισσα Syrophoenician τῷ by γένει· race, καί and ἠρώτα kept asking αὐτόν Him ἵνα that τό the δαιμόνιον demon ἐκβάλῃ He should cast forth ἐκ out of τῆς the θυγατρός daughter αὐτῆς. of her. Καί And ἔλεγεν He was saying αὐτῇ· to her, Ἄφες Permit πρῶτον first χορτασθῆναι to be satisfied τά the τέκνα, children; οὐ not γάρ for ἐστίν it is καλόν good λαβεῖν to take τόν the ἄρτον bread τῶν of the τέκνων children, καί and τοῖς to the κυναρίοις dogs βαλεῖν. to cast [it]. ἡ - δέ But ἀπεκρίθη she answered καί and λέγει says αὐτῷ· to Him, Κύριε· Lord; καί even τά the κυνάρια dogs ὑποκάτω under τῆς the τραπέζης table ἐσθίουσιν eat ἀπό of τῶν the ψιχίων crumbs τῶν of the παιδίων. children. Καί And εἶπεν He said αὐτῇ· to her, Διά Because of τοῦτον this τόν - λόγον word, ὕπαγε, go; ἐξελήλυθεν has gone forth ἐκ out of τῆς the θυγατρός daughter σου of you τό the δαιμόνιον. demon. καί And ἀπελθοῦσα having gone away εἰς to τόν the οἶκον home αὐτῆς of her, εὗρεν she found τό the παιδίον child βεβλημένον lying ἐπί on τήν the κλίνην bed, καί and τό the δαιμόνιον demon ἐξεληλυθός. having gone out.
Καί And πάλιν again ἐξελθών having departed ἐκ from τῶν the ὁρίων region Τύρου of Tyre, ἦλθεν He came διά through Σιδῶνος Sidon, εἰς to τήν the θάλασσαν Sea τῆς - Γαλιλαίας of Galilee ἀνά through μέσον [the] midst τῶν of the ὁρίων region Δεκαπόλεως. of [the] Decapolis. Καί And φέρουσιν they bring αὐτῷ to Him κωφόν a deaf man καί and μογιλάλον who spoke with difficulty, καί and παρακαλοῦσιν they implore αὐτόν Him ἵνα that ἐπιθῇ He might lay αὐτῷ on him τήν the χεῖρα. hand. Καί And ἀπολαβόμενος having taken away αὐτόν him ἀπό from τοῦ the ὄχλου crowd κατ ̓ aside ἰδίαν privately, ἔβαλεν He put τούς the δακτύλους fingers αὐτοῦ of Him εἰς to τά the ὦτα ears αὐτοῦ of him, καί and πτύσας having spit, ἥψατο He touched τῆς the γλώσσης tongue αὐτοῦ, of him, καί and ἀναβλέψας having looked up εἰς to τόν - οὐρανόν heaven ἐστέναξεν He sighed deeply, καί and λέγει He says αὐτῷ· to him, Ἐφφαθά, Ephphatha! ὅ that ἐστίν is, Διανοίχθητι. Be opened!” καί And εὐθύς immediately ἠνοίγησαν were opened αὐτοῦ his αἱ - ἀκοαί, ears, καί and ἐλύθη was loosed ὁ the δεσμός band τῆς of the γλώσσης tongue αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἐλάλει he began speaking ὀρθῶς. plainly. Καί And διεστείλατο He instructed αὐτοῖς them ἵνα that μηδενί no one λέγωσιν· they should tell. ὅσον As much as δέ however αὐτοῖς He διεστέλλετο, kept instructing αὐτοί them, μᾶλλον more περισσότερον abundantly ἐκήρυσσον. they were proclaiming [it]. καί And ὑπερπερισσῶς above measure ἐξεπλήσσοντο they were astonished, λέγοντες· saying, Καλῶς Well πάντα all things πεποίηκεν, He has done; καί both τούς the κωφούς deaf ποιεῖ He makes ἀκούειν to hear, καί and τούς the ἀλάλους mute λαλεῖν. to speak.
