Καί And εἶπεν He said αὐτοῖς· to them, Τί Why δειλοί fearful ἐστέ; are you? οὔπω Still not ἔχετε have you πίστιν; faith? Καί And ἦλθον they came εἰς to τό the πέραν other side τῆς of the θαλάσσης sea, εἰς to τήν the χώραν region τῶν of the Γερασηνῶν. Gerasenes. καί And ἐξελθόντος having gone forth αὐτοῦ of Him ἐκ out of τοῦ the πλοίου boat, εὐθύς immediately ὑπήντησεν met αὐτῷ Him ἐκ out of τῶν the μνημείων tombs ἄνθρωπος a man ἐν with πνεύματι a spirit ἀκαθάρτῳ, unclean, ὅς who τήν the κατοίκησιν dwelling εἶχεν had ἐν in τοῖς the μνήμασιν, tombs. καί And οὐδέ not even ἁλύσει with chains οὐκέτι no longer οὐδείς anyone ἐδύνατο was able αὐτόν him δῆσαι to bind, διά because τό that αὐτόν he πολλάκις often πέδαις with shackles καί and ἁλύσεσιν chains δεδέσθαι had been bound, καί and διεσπάσθαι had been torn in two ὑπ ̓ by αὐτοῦ him τάς the ἁλύσεις chains, καί and τάς the πέδας shackles συντετρῖφθαι, had been shattered, καί and οὐδείς no one ἴσχυεν was able αὐτόν him δαμάσαι· to subdue. καί And διά constantly παντός all νυκτός night καί and ἡμέρας day ἐν in τοῖς the μνήμασιν tombs καί and ἐν in τοῖς the ὄρεσιν mountains ἦν he was κράζων crying out καί and κατακόπτων cutting ἑαυτόν himself λίθοις. with stones. Καί And ἰδών having seen τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus ἀπό from μακρόθεν afar, ἔδραμεν he ran καί and προσεκύνησεν fell on his knees αὐτῷ before Him. καί And κράξας having cried φωνῇ in a voice μεγάλῃ loud, λέγει· he said, Τί What ἐμοί to me καί and σοί, to You, Ἰησοῦ Jesus, Υἱέ Son τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God τοῦ the Ὑψίστου; Most High? ὁρκίζω I adjure σε You τόν - Θεόν, by God, μή not με me βασανίσῃς. torment. ἔλεγεν He was saying γάρ for αὐτῷ· to him, Ἔξελθε You come forth, τό the πνεῦμα spirit τό - ἀκάθαρτον unclean, ἐκ out of τοῦ the ἀνθρώπου. man! Καί And ἐπηρώτα He was asking αὐτόν· him, Τί What [is] ὄνομα [the] name σοι; of you? Καί And λέγει saying, αὐτῷ· he answered, Λεγιών Legion ὄνομα [is] name μοι, to Me, ὅτι because πολλοί many ἐσμέν. we are. καί And παρεκάλει he begged αὐτόν Him πολλά numerous times ἵνα that μή not αὐτά them ἀποστείλῃ He would send ἔξω out of τῆς the χώρας. country. Ἦν There was δέ now ἐκεῖ there, πρός near τῷ the ὄρει mountain, ἀγέλη a herd χοίρων of pigs μεγάλη great βοσκομένη· feeding. καί And παρεκάλεσαν they begged αὐτόν Him, λέγοντες· saying, Πέμψον Send ἡμᾶς us εἰς into τούς the χοίρους, pigs, ἵνα so that εἰς into αὐτούς them εἰσέλθωμεν. we may enter. Καί And ἐπέτρεψεν He allowed αὐτοῖς. them. καί And ἐξελθόντα having gone out, τά the πνεύματα spirits τά - ἀκάθαρτα unclean εἰσῆλθον entered εἰς into τούς the χοίρους, pigs, καί and ὥρμησεν rushed ἡ the ἀγέλη herd κατά down τοῦ the κρημνοῦ steep bank εἰς into τήν the θάλασσαν, sea, ὡς about δισχίλιοι, two thousand, καί and ἐπνίγοντο they were drowned ἐν in τῇ the θαλάσσῃ. sea.
Καί And οἱ those βόσκοντες feeding αὐτούς them ἔφυγον fled καί and ἀπήγγειλαν proclaimed [it] εἰς to τήν the πόλιν city καί and εἰς to τούς the ἀγρούς· country. καί And ἦλθον they went out ἰδεῖν to see τί what ἐστίν it is τό that γεγονός has been done. καί And ἔρχονται they come πρός to τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus καί and θεωροῦσιν see τόν the [man] δαιμονιζόμενον possessed by demons καθήμενον sitting, ἱματισμένον clothed καί and σωφρονοῦντα, sound minded, τόν the [one] ἐσχηκότα having had τόν the λεγιῶνα, legion; καί and ἐφοβήθησαν. they were afraid. καί And διηγήσαντο related αὐτοῖς to them οἱ those ἰδόντες having seen [it] πῶς how ἐγένετο it happened τῷ to the [one] δαιμονιζομένῳ being possessed by demons, καί and περί concerning τῶν the χοίρων. pigs. καί And ἤρξαντο they began παρακαλεῖν to implore αὐτόν Him ἀπελθεῖν to depart ἀπό from τῶν the ὁρίων region αὐτῶν. of them.
Καί And ἐμβαίνοντος having entered αὐτοῦ He εἰς into τό the πλοῖον boat, παρεκάλει was begging αὐτόν Him ὁ the [one] δαιμονισθείς having been possessed by demons, ἵνα that μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ Him ᾖ. he might be. καί And οὐ not ἀφῆκεν He did permit αὐτόν, him, ἀλλά but λέγει He says αὐτῷ· to him, Ὕπαγε Go εἰς to τόν the οἶκον home σου of you, πρός to τούς - σούς your own, καί and ἀπάγγειλον report αὐτοῖς to them ὅσα how much ὁ the Κύριος Lord σοι for you πεποίηκεν did καί and ἠλέησεν had mercy on σε. you. Καί And ἀπῆλθεν he departed καί and ἤρξατο began κηρύσσειν to proclaim ἐν in τῇ the Δεκαπόλει Decapolis ὅσα how much ἐποίησεν had done αὐτῷ for him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς, Jesus; καί and πάντες all ἐθαύμαζον. were marveling.
Καί And διαπεράσαντος having passed over τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ Jesus ἐν in τῷ the πλοίῳ boat πάλιν again εἰς to τό the πέραν other side, συνήχθη was gathered ὄχλος a crowd πολύς great ἐπ ̓ to αὐτόν, Him, καί and ἦν He was παρά beside τήν the θάλασσαν. sea. καί And ἔρχεται comes εἷς one τῶν of the ἀρχισυναγώγων, synagogue rulers, ὀνόματι named Ἰάϊρος, Jairus, καί and ἰδών having seen αὐτόν Him, πίπτει falls πρός at τούς the πόδας feet αὐτοῦ of Him καί and παρακαλεῖ he begs αὐτόν Him πολλά much, λέγων saying ὅτι -, Τό The θυγάτριον little daughter μου of me ἐσχάτως at the end ἔχει, is holding, ἵνα that, ἐλθών having come, ἐπιθῇς You would lay τάς the χεῖρας hands αὐτῇ on her, ἵνα so that σωθῇ she might be cured, καί and ζήσῃ. she shall live. Καί And ἀπῆλθεν He departed μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ. him. καί And ἠκολούθει was following αὐτῷ Him ὄχλος a crowd πολύς great, καί and συνέθλιβον pressing in on αὐτόν. Him.
Καί And γυνή a woman, οὖσα being ἐν with ῥύσει a flux αἵματος of blood δώδεκα twelve ἔτη years, καί and πολλά much παθοῦσα having suffered ὑπό under πολλῶν many ἰατρῶν physicians, καί and δαπανήσασα having spent τά the παρ ̓ of αὐτῆς her πάντα all, καί and μηδέν in no way ὠφεληθεῖσα having benefited, ἀλλά but μᾶλλον rather εἰς to τό the χεῖρον worse ἐλθοῦσα, having come, ἀκούσασα having heard περί concerning τοῦ - Ἰησοῦ, Jesus, ἐλθοῦσα having come up ἐν in τῷ the ὄχλῳ crowd ὄπισθεν behind, ἥψατο she touched τοῦ the ἱματίου clothing αὐτοῦ· of Him. ἔλεγεν She was saying γάρ for ὅτι -, Ἐάν If ἅψωμαι I shall touch κἄν even τῶν the ἱματίων garments αὐτοῦ of Him, σωθήσομαι. I will be healed. καί And εὐθύς immediately ἐξηράνθη was dried up ἡ the πηγή flow τοῦ of the αἵματος blood αὐτῆς of her, καί and ἔγνω she knew τῷ in the σώματι body ὅτι that ἴαται she was healed ἀπό from τῆς the μάστιγος. affliction. Καί And εὐθύς immediately ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, ἐπιγνούς having known ἐν in ἑαυτῷ Himself τήν the ἐκ out of αὐτοῦ Him δύναμιν power ἐξελθοῦσαν having gone forth, ἐπιστραφείς having turned ἐν in τῷ the ὄχλῳ crowd, ἔλεγεν· said, Τίς Who μου of Me ἥψατο touched τῶν the ἱματίων; garments? Καί And ἔλεγον were saying αὐτῷ to Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him, Βλέπεις You see τόν the ὄχλον crowd συνθλίβοντα pressing in on σε You, καί and λέγεις· say You, Τίς Who μου Me ἥψατο; touched? Καί And περιεβλέπετο He was looking around ἰδεῖν to see τήν the [one] τοῦτο this ποιήσασαν. having done. ἡ - δέ And γυνή the woman, φοβηθεῖσα having been frightened καί and τρέμουσα, trembling, εἰδυῖα knowing ὅ what γέγονεν had been done αὐτῇ, to her, ἦλθεν came καί and προσέπεσεν fell down before αὐτῷ Him καί and εἶπεν told αὐτῷ Him πᾶσαν all τήν the ἀλήθειαν. truth. ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν He said αὐτῇ· to her, Θυγάτηρ, Daughter, ἡ the πίστις faith σου of you σέσωκεν has healed σε· you; ὕπαγε go εἰς in εἰρήνην peace καί and ἴσθι be ὑγιής sound ἀπό from τῆς the μάστιγος affliction σου. of you.
Ἔτι [While] yet αὐτοῦ He λαλοῦντος is speaking, ἔρχονται they come ἀπό from τοῦ the ἀρχισυναγώγου ruler of synagogue’s [house], λέγοντες saying ὅτι -, ἡ The θυγάτηρ daughter σου of You ἀπέθανεν· is dead; τί why ἔτι still σκύλλεις trouble you τόν the διδάσκαλον; Teacher? ὁ - δέ And Ἰησοῦς Jesus, παρακούσας having heard τόν the λόγον word λαλούμενον spoken, λέγει says τῷ to the ἀρχισυναγώγῳ· ruler of the synagogue, Μή Not φοβοῦ, fear; μόνον only πίστευε. believe. καί And οὐ not ἀφῆκεν He allowed οὐδένα no one μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ Him συνακολουθῆσαι to follow, εἰ if μή not τόν - Πέτρον Peter καί and Ἰάκωβον James καί and Ἰωάννην John τόν the ἀδελφόν brother Ἰακώβου. of James. Καί And ἔρχονται they come εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house τοῦ of the ἀρχισυναγώγου, ruler of the synagogue, καί and θεωρεῖ He beholds θόρυβον a commotion, καί and κλαίοντας weeping καί and ἀλαλάζοντας wailing πολλά, much. καί And εἰσελθών having entered, λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Τί Why θορυβεῖσθε make you commotion καί and κλαίετε; weep? τό The παιδίον child οὐ not ἀπέθανεν is dead, ἀλλά but καθεύδει. sleeps. καί And κατεγέλων they were laughing at αὐτοῦ. Him. Αὐτός He δέ then, ἐκβαλών having put out πάντας all, παραλαμβάνει takes with [Him] τόν the πατέρα father τοῦ of the παιδίου child, καί and τήν the μητέρα mother, καί and τούς those μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ Him, καί and εἰσπορεύεται enters in ὅπου where ἦν was τό the παιδίον. child. καί And κρατήσας having taken τῆς the χειρός hand τοῦ of the παιδίου child, λέγει He says αὐτῇ· to her, Ταλιθά Talitha, κούμ, koum! ὅ Which ἐστίν is, μεθερμηνευόμενον· translated, Τό - Κοράσιον, Little girl, σοί to you λέγω, I say, ἔγειρε. arise! καί And εὐθύς immediately ἀνέστη arose τό the κοράσιον girl καί and περιεπάτει· began walking; ἦν she was γάρ for ἐτῶν of years δώδεκα. twelve. καί And ἐξέστησαν they were overcome εὐθύς immediately ἐκστάσει with amazement μεγάλῃ. great. καί And διεστείλατο He instructed αὐτοῖς them πολλά strictly ἵνα that μηδείς no one γνοῖ should know τοῦτο, this; καί and εἶπεν He commanded δοθῆναι to be given αὐτῇ to her φαγεῖν. to eat.
Καί And ἐξῆλθεν He went out ἐκεῖθεν from there καί and ἔρχεται came εἰς into τήν the πατρίδα hometown αὐτοῦ, of Him; καί and ἀκολουθοῦσιν follow αὐτῷ Him οἱ the μαθηταί disciples αὐτοῦ. of Him. καί And γενομένου having come σαββάτου [the] Sabbath, ἤρξατο He began διδάσκειν to teach ἐν in τῇ the συναγωγῇ, synagogue; καί and πολλοί many ἀκούοντες hearing ἐξεπλήσσοντο were astonished, λέγοντες· saying, Πόθεν From where τούτῳ to this [man] ταῦτα, these things, καί and τίς what [is] ἡ the σοφία wisdom ἡ - δοθεῖσα having been given τούτῳ, to Him, καί even αἱ the δυνάμεις miracles, τοιαῦται such διά by τῶν the χειρῶν hands αὐτοῦ of Him γινόμεναι; are done? οὐ Not οὗτος this ἐστίν is ὁ the τέκτων, carpenter, ὁ the υἱός son τῆς - Μαρίας of Mary, καί and ἀδελφός brother Ἰακώβου of James καί and Ἰωσῆτος Joseph καί and Ἰούδα Judas καί and Σίμωνος; Simon? καί And οὐ not εἰσίν are αἱ the ἀδελφαί sisters αὐτοῦ of Him ὧδε here πρός with ἡμᾶς; us? καί And ἐσκανδαλίζοντο they took offense ἐν at αὐτῷ. Him. Καί And ἔλεγεν said αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὅτι -, οὐκ Not ἔστιν is προφήτης a prophet ἄτιμος without honor, εἰ if μή not ἐν in τῇ the πατρίδι hometown αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἐν among τοῖς - συγγενεῦσιν relatives αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἐν in τῇ the οἰκίᾳ household αὐτοῦ. of him. καί And οὐ not ἐδύνατο He was able ἐκεῖ there ποιῆσαι to do οὐδεμίαν not any δύναμιν, work of power, εἰ if μή not ὀλίγοις on a few ἀρρώστοις sick, ἐπιθείς having laid τάς the χεῖρας hands, ἐθεράπευσεν. Καί And προσκαλεῖται He calls near τούς the δώδεκα Twelve, καί and ἤρξατο He began αὐτούς them ἀποστέλλειν to send forth δύο two δύο [by] two, καί and ἐδίδου He gave αὐτοῖς to them ἐξουσίαν authority τῶν over the πνευμάτων spirits τῶν - ἀκαθάρτων, unclean. καί And παρήγγειλεν He instructed αὐτοῖς them ἵνα that μηδέν nothing αἴρωσιν they should take εἰς for [the] ὁδόν journey, εἰ if μή not ῥάβδον a staff μόνον, only; μή no ἄρτον, bread, μή nor πήραν, bag, μή nor εἰς in τήν the ζώνην belt χαλκόν, money; ἀλλά but ὑποδεδεμένους wearing σανδάλια, sandals, καί and μή not ἐνδύσησθε put on δύο two χιτῶνας. tunics. Καί And ἔλεγεν He would say αὐτοῖς· to them, Ὅπου Wherever ἐάν if εἰσέλθητε you enter εἰς into οἰκίαν, a house, ἐκεῖ there μένετε remain ἕως until ἄν - ἐξέλθητε you go out ἐκεῖθεν. from there. καί And ὅς whatever ἄν - τόπος place μή not δέξηται will receive ὑμᾶς you μηδέ nor ἀκούσωσιν hear ὑμῶν, you, ἐκπορευόμενοι departing ἐκεῖθεν from there, ἐκτινάξατε shake off τόν the χοῦν dust τόν which [is] ὑποκάτω under τῶν the ποδῶν feet ὑμῶν of you, εἰς for μαρτύριον a testimony αὐτοῖς. against them.” Καί And ἐξελθόντες having gone out, ἐκήρυξαν they preached ἵνα that μετανοῶσιν, they should repent. καί And δαιμόνια demons πολλά many ἐξέβαλλον, they were casting out, καί and ἤλειφον were anointing ἐλαίῳ with oil πολλούς many ἀρρώστους sick καί and ἐθεράπευον. healing [them].
Καί And ἤκουσεν heard ὁ - βασιλεύς King Ἡρῴδης, Herod; φανερόν well known γάρ for ἐγένετο became τό the ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ, of Him. καί And ἔλεγον they were saying ὅτι -, Ἰωάννης John, ὁ the [one] Βαπτίζων baptizing, ἐγήγερται is risen ἐκ out from νεκρῶν [the] dead, καί and διά because of τοῦτο this ἐνεργοῦσιν operate αἱ the δυνάμεις miraculous powers ἐν in αὐτῷ. him. ἄλλοι Others δέ however ἔλεγον were saying ὅτι -, Ἠλίας Elijah ἐστίν· He is. ἄλλοι Others δέ now ἔλεγον were saying ὅτι -, Προφήτης A prophet, ὡς like εἷς one τῶν of the προφητῶν. prophets. Ἀκούσας Having heard δέ now, ὁ - Ἡρῴδης Herod ἔλεγεν· was saying, Ὅν Whom ἐγώ I ἀπεκεφάλισα beheaded, Ἰωάννην, John — οὗτος he ἠγέρθη. is risen!
