We are εἶπεν He said δέ - αὐτοῖς to them: Γινώσκετε Do you know Λαβάν Laban τόν the υἱόν son Ναχώρ; of Nahor? οἱ They δέ - εἶπαν said: Γινώσκομεν. (as) a wife. ἔδωκεν gave δέ - Λαβάν Laban Ῥαχήλ to Rachel τῇ - θυγατρί daughter αὐτοῦ his Βάλλαν Bilhah τήν - παιδίσκην maiden αὐτοῦ his αὐτῇ for her. παιδίσκην. Ἰδών seeing δέ - Κύριος LORD ὁ the θεός God, ὅτι that μισεῖται was hated, Λεία, Leah ἤνοιξεν opened τήν - μήτραν womb. αὐτῆς· her Ῥαχήλ Rachel δέ But ἦν was στεῖρα. barren. καί And συνέλαβεν conceived Λεία Leah καί and ἔτεκεν bore υἱόν a son τῷ - Ἰακώβ· to Jacob. ἐκάλεσεν She called δέ - τό - ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ his Ῥουβήν Reuben, λέγουσα saying: Διότι Since εἶδεν saw μου my Κύριος Lord τήν (my) ταπείνωσιν· humiliation, νῦν now ἀγαπήσει will love με me. ὁ - ἀνήρ husband μου. my καί And συνέλαβεν conceived πάλιν again Λεία Leah καί and ἔτεκεν bore υἱόν son δεύτερον a second τῷ - Ἰακώβ, to Jacob καί and εἶπεν said: ὅτι Because Ἤκουσεν heard Κύριος (the) LORD ὅτι that μισοῦμαι, I am hated, καί - προσέδωκεν he added μοι to me καί also τοῦτον· this (one). καί And ἐκάλεσεν she called τό - ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ his Συμεών. Judah. καί And ἔστη she ceased τοῦ - τίκτειν. to bear children.

Ἰδοῦσα When saw δέ - Ῥαχήλ Rachel ὅτι that οὐ not τέτοκεν she had borne (a child) τῷ - Ἰακώβ, for Jacob, καί then ἐζήλωσεν envied Ῥαχήλ Rachel τήν - ἀδελφήν sister αὐτῆς, her καί and εἶπεν said τῷ - Ἰακώβ to Jacob: Δός Give μοι me τέκνα· children, εἰ if δέ but μή, not, τελευτήσω will die. ἐγώ. I ἐθυμώθη became angry δέ - Ἰακώβ Jacob τῇ - Ῥαχήλ with Rachel καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῇ to her: Μή - ἀντί in the place of τοῦ of θεοῦ God, ἐγώ I εἰμί, Am ὅς who ἐστέρησεν deprived of σε you καρπόν the fruit κοιλίας; of the womb? εἶπεν said δέ - Ῥαχήλ Rachel τῷ - Ἰακώβ to Jacob: Ἰδού Look, ἡ - παιδίσκη maiden μου my Βάλλα, Bilhah, εἴσελθε enter πρός to αὐτήν· her, καί and τέξεται she will give birth ἐπί upon τῶν - γονάτων knees, μου, my ἵνα so that τεκνοποιήσωμαι might bear children κἀγώ even I ἐκ from αὐτῆς. her. καί So ἔδωκεν she gave αὐτῷ him Βάλλαν Bilhah τήν - παιδίσκην maiden αὐτῆς her αὐτῷ for him γυναῖκα, (as) a wife, καί and εἰσῆλθεν entered πρός into αὐτήν her. Ἰακώβ· Jacob καί And συνέλαβεν conceived Βάλλα Bilhah ἡ - παιδίσκη maiden Ῥαχήλ Rachel’s καί and ἔτεκεν she bore τῷ - Ἰακώβ to Jacob υἱόν. a son. καί And εἶπεν said: Ῥαχήλ Rachel Ἔκρινεν judged μοι me ὁ - θεός God καί and ἐπήκουσεν heard τῆς - φωνῆς voice μου my καί and ἔδωκεν gave μοι me υἱόν· a son.
