καί And εἶπεν said Ἰακώβ Jacob ὁ - υἱός son αὐτοῦ his τῷ - πατρί father: αὐτοῦ (to) his Ἐγώ I (am) Ἠσαύ Esau, ὁ - πρωτότοκος first-born. σου, your ἐποίησα I have done καθά just as ἐλάλησας you spoke μοι· to me. ἀναστάς After rising, κάθισον sit καί and φάγε eat τῆς - θήρας game, μου, my ὅπως so that εὐλογήσῃ may bless με me. ἡ - ψυχή soul σου. your εἶπεν said δέ - Ἰσαάκ Isaac τῷ - υἱῷ son: αὐτοῦ (to) his Τί What τοῦτο (is) this, ὅ that ταχύ swiftly εὗρες, you found ὦ O τέκνον; child? ὁ He δέ - εἶπεν said: Ὅ That (which) παρέδωκεν delivered Κύριος (the) LORD ὁ - θεός God ἐναντίον before μου. me. εἶπεν said δέ - Ἰσαάκ Isaac τῷ - Ἰακώβ to Jacob: Ἔγγισον Approach μοι me καί and ψηλαφήσω let me touch σε, you, τέκνον, child, εἰ (to know) if σύ you εἶ are ὁ - υἱός son μου my Ἠσαύ Esau ἤ or οὔ. not. ἤγγισεν came near δέ - Ἰακώβ Jacob πρός to Ἰσαάκ Isaac τόν - πατέρα father, αὐτοῦ, his καί and ἐψηλάφησεν he touched αὐτόν· him καί and εἶπεν said: ἡ The φωνή voice φωνή (is the) voice Ἰακώβ, of Jacob, αἱ the δέ but χεῖρες hands χεῖρες (are the) hands Ἠσαύ. of Esau. καί And οὐ not ἐπέγνω he did know αὐτόν· him, ἦσαν were γάρ for αἱ - χεῖρες hands αὐτοῦ his ὡς like αἱ the χεῖρες hands Ἠσαύ of Esau τοῦ - ἀδελφοῦ brother, αὐτοῦ his δασεῖαι· hairy, καί and ηὐλόγησεν he blessed αὐτόν. him. καί And εἶπεν he said: Σύ You εἶ are ὁ - υἱός son μου my Ἠσαύ; Esau? ὁ He δέ - εἶπεν said Ἐγώ. It is I. καί And εἶπεν he said: Προσάγαγε Bring (it) μοι to me, καί and φάγομαι I will eat ἀπό from τῆς - θήρας game, σου, your τέκνον, child, ὅπως in order that εὐλογήσῃ may bless σε you. ἡ - ψυχή soul μου. my καί And προσήνεγκεν he offered (it) αὐτῷ, to him, καί and ἔφαγεν· he ate, καί and εἰσήνεγκεν he brought αὐτῷ him οἶνον, wine, καί and ἔπιεν. he drank. καί And εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Ἰσαάκ Isaac ὁ - πατήρ father αὐτοῦ his Ἔγγισον Approach μοι me καί and φίλησον kiss με, me, τέκνον. child. καί And ἐγγίσας after approaching (him) ἐφίλησεν he kissed αὐτόν· him, καί and ὠσφράνθη he smelled τήν the ὀσμήν scent τῶν - ἱματίων garment αὐτοῦ, of his καί and ηὐλόγησεν he blessed αὐτόν him καί and εἶπεν said:

Ἰδού Behold ὀσμή the scent τοῦ - υἱοῦ son μου of my

ὡς (is) like ὀσμή the scent ἀγροῦ field πλήρους of an abundant ὅν that ηὐλόγησεν has blessed. Κύριος. (the) LORD

καί And δῴη may give σοι you ὁ - θεός God ἀπό from τῆς the δρόσου dew τοῦ - οὐρανοῦ of heaven ἄνωθεν, above

καί and ἀπό from τῆς the πιότητος abundance τῆς of the γῆς, land

καί and πλῆθος a multitude σίτου of grain καί and οἴνου. wine.

καί And δουλευσάτωσαν let serve σοι you, ἔθνη, nations

καί and προσκυνήσουσιν will bow down σοι to you, ἄρχοντες· rulers

καί and γίνου become κύριος lord τοῦ - ἀδελφοῦ brother, σου, of your

καί and προσκυνήσουσιν will worship σε you. οἱ the υἱοί sons τοῦ - πατρός father σου. of your

ὁ The one who καταρώμενος curses σε you ἐπικατάρατος, (is) even more accursed;

ὁ the one who δέ - εὐλογῶν blesses σε you εὐλογημένος. has been blessed.

Καί And ἐγένετο it happened μετά after τό - παύσασθαι ceased Ἰσαάκ Isaac εὐλογοῦντα blessing τόν - Ἰακώβ Jacob τόν - υἱόν son αὐτοῦ, his καί and ἐγένετο it happened ὡς as ἐξῆλθεν came out Ἰακώβ Jacob ἀπό from προσώπου before Ἰσαάκ Isaac τοῦ - πατρός father, αὐτοῦ, his καί - Ἠσαύ Esau ὁ - ἀδελφός brother αὐτοῦ his ἦλθεν came in ἀπό from τῆς - θήρας hunting. αὐτοῦ. his καί And ἐποίησεν made καί also αὐτός he ἐδέσματα delicacies καί and προσήνεγκεν brought it τῷ - πατρί father αὐτοῦ· (to) his καί and εἶπεν said τῷ to (his) πατρί father: αὐτοῦ his Ἀναστήτω Rise up ὁ - πατήρ father μου my καί and φαγέτω eat τῆς the θήρας game τοῦ - υἱοῦ son, αὐτοῦ, of his ὅπως so that εὐλογήσει may bless με me. ἡ - ψυχή soul σου. your καί And εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Ἰσαάκ Isaac ὁ - πατήρ father αὐτοῦ his Τίς Who εἶ are σύ; you? ὁ He δέ - εἶπεν said: Ἐγώ I εἰμί am ὁ - υἱός son, σου your ὁ - πρωτότοκος first-born Ἠσαύ. Esau. ἐξέστη was amazed δέ - Ἰσαάκ Isaac ἔκστασιν astonishment μεγάλην great σφόδρα (with) very καί and εἶπεν said: Τίς Who οὖν then ὁ (was) the one who θηρεύσας hunted μοι for me θήραν game καί and εἰσενέγκας brought (it) in μοι, to me? καί And ἔφαγον I ate ἀπό from πάντων everything πρό before τοῦ - σε you εἰσελθεῖν, entered καί and ηὐλόγησα I blessed αὐτόν; him, καί so εὐλογημένος the one who was blessed. ἔστω. let him be ἐγένετο It happened δέ - ἡνίκα when ἤκουσεν heard Ἠσαύ Esau τά the ῥήματα words Ἰσαάκ of Isaac τοῦ - πατρός father, αὐτοῦ, his ἀνεβόησεν cried out with Ἠσαύ Ēsau φωνήν cry μεγάλην great καί and πικράν bitter σφόδρα, a very καί and εἶπεν said: Εὐλόγησον Bless δή now κἀμέ, also me, πάτερ. father! εἶπεν He said δέ - αὐτῷ to him: Ἐλθών When came ὁ - ἀδελφός brother σου your μετά with δόλου deceit ἔλαβεν he took τήν - εὐλογίαν blessing. σου. your καί And εἶπεν he said: Δικαίως rightly ἐκλήθη was called τό - ὄνομα name αὐτοῦ His Ἰακώβ· Jacob, ἐπτέρνικεν he has outwitted γάρ for με me ἤδη now δεύτερον second (time). τοῦτο· this τά - τέ - πρωτοτοκεῖα birthright μου my εἴληφεν, He has taken καί and νῦν now εἴληφεν he has taken τήν - εὐλογίαν blessing. μου. my καί And εἶπεν said Ἠσαύ Esau τῷ - πατρί father: αὐτοῦ (to) his οὐχ not ὑπελείπου Did you leave μοι me εὐλογίαν, a blessing, πάτερ; father? ἀποκριθείς Replying, δέ - Ἰσαάκ Isaac εἶπεν said τῷ - Ἠσαύ to Esau: εἰ If κύριον master αὐτόν him ἐποίησα I made σου, your καί and πάντας all τούς - ἀδελφούς brothers αὐτοῦ his ἐποίησα I made αὐτοῦ his οἰκέτας, servants; σίτῳ with grain καί and οἴνῳ wine ἐστήρισα I strengthened αὐτόν· him; σοί for you, δέ - τί what ποιήσω, shall I do τέκνον; child? εἶπεν said δέ But Ἠσαύ Esau πρός to Ἰσαάκ Isaac τόν - πατέρα father: αὐτοῦ his Μή not εὐλογία blessing, μία one (more) σοί you ἐστίν, Have πάτερ; father? εὐλόγησον Bless δή now κἀμέ, even me, πάτερ. father! ἀποκριθείς Replying, δέ - Ἰσαάκ Isaac ὁ - πατήρ father αὐτοῦ his εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him:

Ἰδού Look, ἀπό from τῆς the πιότητος abundance τῆς of the γῆς land ἔσται will be ἡ - κατοίκησις dwelling σου, your

καί and ἀπό from τῆς the δρόσου dew τοῦ - οὐρανοῦ of heaven ἄνωθεν· from on high,

καί and ἐπί by τῇ - μαχαίρῃ sword σου your ζήσῃ, you will live

καί and τῷ - ἀδελφῷ brother. σου your δουλεύσεις. you will serve

ἔσται It will be δέ - ἡνίκα when ἐάν -ever καθέλῃς you destroy,

καί then ἐκλύσεις you will set free τόν - ζυγόν yoke αὐτοῦ his ἀπό from τοῦ - τραχήλου neck. σου. your

Καί And ἐνεκότει was angry Ἠσαύ Esau τῷ - Ἰακώβ with Jacob περί because of τῆς the εὐλογίας blessing ἧς with which εὐλόγησεν blessed αὐτόν him. ὁ - πατήρ father αὐτοῦ· his εἶπεν said δέ So Ἠσαύ Esau ἐν in τῇ - διανοίᾳ mind: αὐτοῦ his Ἐγγισάτωσαν Let be brought near, αἱ the ἡμέραι days τοῦ - πένθους mourning τοῦ - πατρός father’s μου, of my ἵνα in order that ἀποκτείνω I may kill Ἰακώβ Jacob τόν - ἀδελφόν brother. μου. my ἀπηγγέλη were reported δέ - Ῥεβέκκᾳ to Rebekah, τά The ῥήματα words Ἠσαύ of Esau τοῦ - υἱοῦ son αὐτῆς her τοῦ - πρεσβυτέρου· older καί and, πέμψασα having sent, ἐκάλεσεν she called Ἰακώβ Jacob τόν - υἱόν son αὐτῆς her τόν - νεώτερον younger καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Ἰδού Look, Ἠσαύ Esau ὁ - ἀδελφός brother σου your ἀπειλεῖ threatens σοι you τοῦ - ἀποκτεῖναι in order to kill σε. you. νῦν, now, οὖν, So τέκνον, child, ἄκουσον hear μου my τῆς - φωνῆς, voice καί and, ἀναστάς having arisen, ἀπόδραθι escape εἰς to τήν - Μεσοποταμίαν Mesopotamia πρός to Λαβάν Laban τόν - ἀδελφόν brother μου my εἰς into Χαρράν· Haran καί and οἴκησον live μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ him ἡμέρας days τινάς, some ἕως until τοῦ - ἀποστρέψαι are averted τόν the θυμόν anger καί and τήν - ὀργήν wrath τοῦ - ἀδελφοῦ brother σου of your ἀπό from σοῦ, you καί and ἐπιλάθηται he forgets ἅ what πεποίηκας you have done αὐτῷ, to him, καί and, ἀποστείλασα having sent (you) away, μεταπέμψομαι I will summon σε you ἐκεῖθεν· from there, μή not ποτέ when ἀτεκνωθῶ I become childless ἀπό from τῶν the δύο two ὑμῶν of you ἐν in ἡμέρᾳ day. μιᾷ. one

Εἶπεν said δέ - Ῥεβέκκα Rebekah πρός to Ἰσαάκ Isaac: Προσώχθικα I am weary τῇ - ζωῇ life μου of my διά because of τάς the θυγατέρας daughters τῶν of the υἱῶν sons Χέτ· of Heth. εἰ If λήμψεται take Ἰακώβ Jacob γυναῖκα a woman ἀπό from τῶν the θυγατέρων daughters τῆς - γῆς land, ταύτης, of this ἵνα - τί why μοι (do) I ζῇν; live?

προσκαλεσάμενος after summoning δέ - Ἰσαάκ Isaac, τόν - Ἰακώβ Jacob, εὐλόγησεν blessed αὐτόν, him καί and ἐνετείλατο charged αὐτῷ him λέγων saying: οὐ not λήμψῃ You will take γυναῖκα a woman ἐκ from τῶν the θυγατέρων daughters Χανάαν· of Canaan, ἀναστάς Rise (and) ἀπόδραθι escape εἰς to τήν - Μεσοποταμίαν Mesopotamia Συρίας of Syria εἰς to τόν the οἶκον house Βαθουήλ of Bethuel τοῦ the πατρός father τῆς - μητρός mother σου, of your καί and λάβε take σεαυτῷ for yourself ἐκεῖθεν from there γυναῖκα a woman ἐκ from τῶν the θυγατέρων daughters Λαβάν of Laban τοῦ the ἀδελφοῦ brother τῆς - μητρός mother. σου. of your ὁ - δέ - θεός God μου my εὐλογήσαι May bless σε you καί and αὐξήσαι may he increase σε you καί and πληθύναι may he multiply σε, you, καί and ἔσῃ you will be εἰς into συναγωγάς a gathering ἐθνῶν· of nations, καί and δῴη may he give σοι you τήν the εὐλογίαν blessing Ἀβραάμ of Abraham τοῦ - πατρός father, σου, your σοί to you καί and τῷ - σπέρματι offspring σου (to) your μετά after σέ, you κληρονομῆσαι to inherit τήν the γῆν land τῆς - παροικήσεως sojourning σου, of your ἥν which δέδωκεν has given ὁ - θεός God τῷ - Ἀβραάμ. to Abraham. καί So ἀπέστειλεν sent off Ἰσαάκ Isaac τόν - Ἰακώβ, Jacob, καί and ἐπορεύθη he went εἰς to τήν - Μεσοποταμίαν Mesopotamia πρός to Λαβάν Laban τόν the υἱόν son Βαθουήλ of Bethuel τοῦ the Σύρου, Aramean, ἀδελφόν brother δέ and Ῥεβέκκας of Rebekah τῆς the μητρός mother Ἰακώβ of Jacob καί and Ἠσαύ. Esau. ἴδεν saw δέ - Ἠσαύ Esau ὅτι that εὐλόγησεν blessed Ἰσαάκ Isaac τόν - Ἰακώβ Jacob καί and ἀπῴχετο he was gone away εἰς to τήν - Μεσοποταμίαν Mesopotamia Συρίας of Syria, λαβεῖν to take ἑαυτῷ for himself γυναῖκα, a woman, ἐν (that) when τῷ - εὐλογεῖν blessed αὐτόν, he καί also ἐνετείλατο he commanded αὐτῷ him, λέγων saying: οὐ not λήμψῃ You will take γυναῖκα a wife ἀπό from τῶν the θυγατέρων daughters Χανάαν· of Canaan, καί and ἤκουσεν obeyed Ἰακώβ Jacob τοῦ - πατρός father καί and τῆς - μητρός mother ἑαυτοῦ, his καί and ἐπορεύθη went εἰς to τήν - Μεσοποταμίαν. Mesopotamia καί and ἴδεν saw Ἠσαύ Esau ὅτι that πονηραί evil εἰσίν were αἱ the θυγατέρες daughters Χανάαν of Canaanite ἐναντίον before Ἰσαάκ Isaac τοῦ - πατρός father. αὐτοῦ, his καί So ἐπορεύθη went Ἠσαύ Esau πρός to Ἰσμαήλ, Ishmael καί and ἔλαβεν took τήν - Μαελέθ Mahalath θυγατέρα the daughter Ἰσμαήλ of Ishmael τοῦ the υἱοῦ son Ἀβραάμ, of Abraham, ἀδελφήν the sister Ναβαιώθ, of Nebaioth, πρός to ταῖς - γυναιξίν wives αὐτοῦ his γυναῖκα. (as) a wife.

Καί And ἐξῆλθεν came out Ἰακώβ Jacob ἀπό from τοῦ the φρέατος Well τοῦ of the ὅρκου, Oath καί and ἐπορεύθη went εἰς to Χαρράν. Haran. καί And ἀπήντησεν he came to τόπῳ a place καί and ἐκοιμήθη slept ἐκεῖ· there, ἔδυ set, γάρ for ὁ the ἥλιος· sun καί and ἔλαβεν he took ἀπό from τῶν the λίθων stones τοῦ of the τόπου place καί and ἐπέθηκεν put (it) πρός at κεφαλῆς head αὐτοῦ, his καί and ἐκοιμήθη he laid down ἐν in τῷ - τόπῳ place. ἐκείνῳ. that καί And ἐνυπνιάσθη· he dreamed, καί and ἰδού look, κλίμαξ a ladder ἐστηριγμένη having been fixed ἐν upon τῇ the γῇ earth, ἧς whose ἡ - κεφαλή top ἀφικνεῖτο was reaching εἰς into τόν - οὐρανόν, heaven, καί and οἱ the ἄγγελοι messengers τοῦ - θεοῦ of God ἀνέβαινον were ascending καί and κατέβαινον descending ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτῆς. it. ὁ The δέ - Κύριος Lord ἐπεστήρικτο had rested ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτῆς it καί and εἶπεν said: Ἐγώ I (am) ὁ the θεός God Ἀβραάμ of Abraham τοῦ - πατρός father σου your καί and ὁ the θεός God Ἰσαάκ· of Isaac. μή (Do) not φοβοῦ· fear! ἡ The γῆ land ἐφ ̓ on ἧς which σύ you καθεύδεις are sleeping ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτῆς, it, σοί to you δώσω I will give αὐτήν it καί and τῷ - σπέρματι offspring. σου. (to) your καί And ἔσται will be τό - σπέρμα offspring σου your ὡς like ἡ the ἄμμος sand τῆς of the θαλάσσης, sea καί and πλατυνθήσεται it will enlarge ἐπί to θάλασσαν the sea καί and ἐπί to λίβα the south καί and ἐπί to βορρᾶν the north καί and ἐπ ̓ to ἀνατολάς· the east,
