Προσελθών Having come δέ then καί also ὁ the [one] τό the ἕν one τάλαντον talent εἰληφώς having received, εἶπεν· he said, Κύριε, Master, ἔγνων I knew σε you, ὅτι that σκληρός hard εἶ you are ἄνθρωπος, a man, θερίζων reaping ὅπου where οὐ not ἔσπειρας you did sow, καί and συνάγων gathering ὅθεν from where οὐ not διεσκόρπισας, you did scatter. καί And φοβηθείς having been afraid, ἀπελθών having gone away, ἔκρυψα I hid τό the τάλαντον talent σου of you ἐν in τῇ the γῇ· ground. ἴδε Behold, ἔχεις you have τό what [is] σόν. yours. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ the κύριος master αὐτοῦ of him εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to him, Πονηρέ Wicked δοῦλε servant καί and ὀκνηρέ, lazy! ᾔδεις You knew ὅτι that θερίζω I reap ὅπου where οὐ not ἔσπειρα I sowed, καί and συνάγω gather ὅθεν from where οὐ not διεσκόρπισα; I scattered. ἔδει It behooved σε you οὖν therefore βαλεῖν to put τά the ἀργύρια money μου of me τοῖς to the τραπεζίταις, bankers, καί and ἐλθών having come, ἐγώ I ἐκομισάμην would have received ἄν - τό - ἐμόν my own σύν with τόκῳ. interest. Ἄρατε Take οὖν therefore ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ him τό the τάλαντον talent, καί and δότε give [it] τῷ to the [one] ἔχοντι having τά the δέκα ten τάλαντα· talents. τῷ - γάρ For ἔχοντι having, παντί to everyone δοθήσεται will be given, καί and περισσευθήσεται, he will have in abundance; τοῦ the [one] δέ however μή not ἔχοντος having, καί even ὅ that which ἔχει he has ἀρθήσεται will be taken away ἀπ ̓ from αὐτοῦ. him. καί And τόν the ἀχρεῖον worthless δοῦλον servant, ἐκβάλετε cast out εἰς into τό the σκότος darkness τό - ἐξώτερον· outer; ἐκεῖ there ἔσται will be ὁ the κλαυθμός weeping καί and ὁ the βρυγμός gnashing τῶν of the ὀδόντων. teeth.

Ὅταν When δέ then ἔλθῃ comes ὁ the υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ἐν in τῇ the δόξῃ glory αὐτοῦ of Him, καί and πάντες all οἱ the ἄγγελοι angels μετ ̓ with αὐτοῦ, Him, τότε then καθίσει He will sit ἐπί upon [the] θρόνου throne δόξης of glory αὐτοῦ· of Him. καί And συναχθήσονται will be gathered ἔμπροσθεν before αὐτοῦ Him πάντα all τά the ἔθνη, nations, καί and ἀφορίσει He will separate αὐτούς them ἀπ ̓ from ἀλλήλων, one another, ὥσπερ as ὁ the ποιμήν shepherd ἀφορίζει separates τά the πρόβατα sheep ἀπό from τῶν the ἐρίφων, goats. καί And στήσει He will set τά - μέν indeed πρόβατα the sheep ἐκ on δεξιῶν [the] right hand αὐτοῦ, of Him, τά - δέ and ἐρίφια the goats ἐκ on εὐωνύμων. Me. Τότε Then ἀποκριθήσονται will answer αὐτῷ Him οἱ the δίκαιοι righteous, λέγοντες· saying, Κύριε, Lord, πότε when σε You εἴδομεν saw we πεινῶντα hungering, καί and ἐθρέψαμεν, fed [You]? ἤ Or διψῶντα thirsting, καί and ἐποτίσαμεν; gave [You] to drink? πότε When δέ now σε You εἴδομεν saw we ξένον a stranger, καί and συνηγάγομεν, took [You] in? ἤ Or γυμνόν naked, καί and περιεβάλομεν; clothed [You]? πότε When δέ now σε You εἴδομεν saw we ἀσθενοῦντα ailing ἤ or ἐν in φυλακῇ prison, καί and ἤλθομεν came πρός to σε; You? Καί And ἀποκριθείς answering, ὁ the Βασιλεύς King ἐρεῖ will say αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ἐφ ̓ to the extent ὅσον as much as ἐποιήσατε you did [it] ἑνί to one τούτων of these τῶν the ἀδελφῶν brothers μου of Me τῶν the ἐλαχίστων, least, ἐμοί to Me ἐποιήσατε. you did [it]. Τότε Then ἀποκριθήσονται will answer καί also αὐτοί themselves, λέγοντες· saying, Κύριε, Lord, πότε when σε You εἴδομεν saw we πεινῶντα hungering, ἤ or διψῶντα thirsting, ἤ or ξένον a stranger, ἤ or γυμνόν naked, ἤ or ἀσθενῆ sick, ἤ or ἐν in φυλακῇ prison, καί and οὐ not διηκονήσαμεν did minister σοι; to You? Τότε Then ἀποκριθήσεται will He answer αὐτοῖς them, λέγων· saying, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ἐφ ̓ to the extent ὅσον that οὐ not ἐποιήσατε you did [it] ἑνί to one τούτων of these τῶν the ἐλαχίστων, least, οὐδέ neither ἐμοί to Me ἐποιήσατε. did you. Τότε Then συνήχθησαν were gathered together οἱ the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests καί and οἱ the πρεσβύτεροι elders τοῦ of the λαοῦ people εἰς in τήν the αὐλήν courtyard τοῦ of the ἀρχιερέως high priest, τοῦ who λεγομένου is called Καϊάφα Caiaphas, καί and συνεβουλεύσαντο they plotted together, ἵνα in order that τόν - Ἰησοῦν Jesus δόλῳ by guile κρατήσωσιν they might seize καί and ἀποκτείνωσιν· kill. ἔλεγον They were saying δέ· however, Μή Not ἐν during τῇ the ἑορτῇ, feast, ἵνα that μή not θόρυβος a riot γένηται there be ἐν among τῷ the λαῷ. people.

Τοῦ - δέ And Ἰησοῦ of Jesus γενομένου having been ἐν in Βηθανίᾳ Bethany ἐν in [the] οἰκίᾳ house Σίμωνος of Simon τοῦ the λεπροῦ, leper, προσῆλθεν came αὐτῷ to Him γυνή a woman, ἔχουσα having ἀλάβαστρον an alabaster flask μύρου fragrant oil βαρυτίμου very costly, καί and κατέχεεν poured [it] ἐπί on τῆς the κεφαλῆς head αὐτοῦ of Him ἀνακειμένου. [as] He is reclining. Ἰδόντες Having seen δέ then, οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ἠγανάκτησαν became indignant, λέγοντες· saying, εἰς For what τί purpose ἡ [is] the ἀπώλεια waste αὕτη; this? ἐδύνατο Could γάρ for τοῦτο this πραθῆναι have been sold πολλοῦ for much, καί and δοθῆναι have been given πτωχοῖς. to [the] poor. Γνούς Having known [this] δέ now, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτοῖς· to them, Τί Why κόπους trouble παρέχετε do you cause τῇ to the γυναικί; woman? ἔργον A work γάρ for καλόν beautiful ἠργάσατο she did εἰς to ἐμέ· Me. πάντοτε Always γάρ for τούς the πτωχούς poor ἔχετε you have μεθ ̓ with ἑαυτῶν, you; ἐμέ Me δέ however οὐ not πάντοτε always ἔχετε· you have. βαλοῦσα In pouring γάρ for αὕτη this [woman] τό the μύρον fragrant oil τοῦτο this ἐπί on τοῦ the σώματος body μου of Me, πρός for τό the ἐνταφιάσαι burial με of Me ἐποίησεν. she did [it]. ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν, to you, ὅπου wherever ἐάν if κηρυχθῇ shall be proclaimed τό the εὐαγγέλιον gospel τοῦτο this ἐν in ὅλῳ all τῷ the κόσμῳ, world, λαληθήσεται will be spoken of καί also ὅ that which ἐποίησεν did αὕτη this [woman], εἰς for μνημόσυνον a memorial αὐτῆς. of her.

Τότε Then πορευθείς having gone εἷς one τῶν of the δώδεκα, Twelve, ὁ the [one] λεγόμενος being called Ἰούδας Judas Ἰσκαριώτης, Iscariot, πρός to τούς the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests, εἶπεν· he said, Τί What θέλετε are you willing μοι me δοῦναι, to give, κἀγώ and I ὑμῖν to you παραδώσω will betray αὐτόν; Him? οἱ - δέ And ἔστησαν they appointed αὐτῷ to him τριάκοντα thirty ἀργύρια. pieces of silver. καί And ἀπό from τότε that time, ἐζήτει he was seeking εὐκαιρίαν an opportunity ἵνα that αὐτόν Him παραδῷ. he might betray. Τῇ On the δέ now πρώτῃ first [day] τῶν of the ἀζύμων unleavened [bread], προσῆλθον came οἱ the μαθηταί disciples τῷ - Ἰησοῦ to Jesus, λέγοντες· saying, Ποῦ Where θέλεις wish you [that] ἑτοιμάσωμεν we should prepare σοι for You φαγεῖν to eat τό the πάσχα; Passover? ὁ - δέ And εἶπεν· He said, Ὑπάγετε Go εἰς into τήν the πόλιν city πρός unto τόν a δεῖνα certain man καί and εἴπατε tell αὐτῷ· him ὁ the Διδάσκαλος Teacher λέγει· says, ὁ The καιρός time μου of Me ἐγγύς near ἐστίν, is; πρός with σέ you ποιῶ I will keep τό the πάσχα Passover, μετά with τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples μου. of Me.’ καί And ἐποίησαν did οἱ the μαθηταί disciples ὡς as συνέταξεν directed αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, καί and ἡτοίμασαν prepared τό the πάσχα. Passover.

Ὀψίας Evening δέ now γενομένης having arrived, ἀνέκειτο He was reclining μετά with τῶν the δώδεκα. twelve. καί And [as] ἐσθιόντων they were eating, αὐτῶν to them εἶπεν· He said, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that εἷς one ἐκ of ὑμῶν you παραδώσει will betray με. Me. Καί And λυπούμενοι being grieved σφόδρα exceedingly, ἤρξαντο they began λέγειν to say αὐτῷ to Him, εἷς one ἕκαστος· each, Μήτι Not ἐγώ I εἰμί, is it, Κύριε; Lord? ὁ - δέ And ἀποκριθείς answering εἶπεν· He said, ὁ The [one] ἐμβάψας having dipped μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ Me τήν the χεῖρα hand ἐν in τῷ the τρυβλίῳ dish, οὗτος he με Me παραδώσει. will betray. ὁ - μέν Indeed Υἱός the Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man ὑπάγει goes καθώς as γέγραπται it has been written περί about αὐτοῦ, Him; οὐαί woe δέ however τῷ - ἀνθρώπῳ the man ἐκείνῳ to that δι ̓ by οὗ whom ὁ the Υἱός Son τοῦ - ἀνθρώπου of Man παραδίδοται· is betrayed. καλόν Better ἦν would it be αὐτῷ for him εἰ if οὐ not ἐγεννήθη had been born ὁ the ἄνθρωπος man ἐκεῖνος. that. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now Ἰούδας Judas, ὁ who παραδιδούς was betraying αὐτόν Him, εἶπεν· said, Μήτι Not ἐγώ I εἰμί, is it, ῥαββί; Rabbi? Λέγει He says αὐτῷ· to him, Σύ You εἶπας. have said.

Ἐσθιόντων [As] they were eating δέ now αὐτῶν of them, λαβών having taken ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἄρτον bread, καί and εὐλογήσας having blessed, ἔκλασεν broke [it], καί and δούς having given τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς disciples, εἶπεν· He said, Λάβετε Take, φάγετε, eat; τοῦτο this ἐστίν is τό the σῶμα body μου. of Me. Καί And λαβών having taken ποτήριον a cup καί and εὐχαριστήσας having given thanks, ἔδωκεν He gave [it] αὐτοῖς to them, λέγων· saying, Πίετε Drink ἐκ of αὐτοῦ it, πάντες, all of you. τοῦτο This γάρ for ἐστίν is τό the αἷμα blood μου of Me, τῆς of the διαθήκης covenant, τό - περί for πολλῶν many ἐκχυννόμενον being poured out εἰς for ἄφεσιν forgiveness ἁμαρτιῶν. of sins. λέγω I say δέ now ὑμῖν, to you, οὐ no μή not πίω will I drink, ἀπ ̓ from ἄρτι now, ἐκ of τούτου this τοῦ the γενήματος fruit τῆς of the ἀμπέλου vine, ἕως until τῆς the ἡμέρας day ἐκείνης that, ὅταν when αὐτό it πίνω I drink μεθ ̓ with ὑμῶν you καινόν anew ἐν in τῇ the βασιλείᾳ kingdom τοῦ of the Πατρός Father μου. of Me. Καί And ὑμνήσαντες having sung a hymn, ἐξῆλθον they went out εἰς to τό the ὄρος Mount τῶν - Ἐλαιῶν. of Olives.

Τότε Then λέγει says αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Πάντες All ὑμεῖς you σκανδαλισθήσεσθε will fall away ἐν because of ἐμοί Me ἐν during τῇ the νυκτί night ταύτῃ, this. γέγραπται It has been written γάρ· for: Πατάξω I will strike τόν the ποιμένα, shepherd, Καί and διασκορπισθήσονται will be scattered τά the πρόβατα sheep τῆς of the ποίμνης. flock.’

Μετά After δέ however τό - ἐγερθῆναι being raised, με I προάξω will go before ὑμᾶς you εἰς into τήν - Γαλιλαίαν. Galilee. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ - Πέτρος Peter εἶπεν said αὐτῷ· to Him, εἰ If πάντες all σκανδαλισθήσονται will fall away ἐν because of σοί, You, ἐγώ I οὐδέποτε never σκανδαλισθήσομαι. will fall away. Ἔφη Said αὐτῷ to him ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Ἀμήν Truly λέγω I say σοι to you ὅτι that ἐν during ταύτῃ this τῇ - νυκτί night, πρίν before [the] ἀλέκτορα rooster φωνῆσαι crowing, τρίς three times ἀπαρνήσῃ you will deny με. Me. Λέγει Says αὐτῷ to Him ὁ - Πέτρος· Peter, Κἄν Even if δέῃ it were necessary for με me σύν with σοί You ἀποθανεῖν, to die, οὐ no μή not σε You ἀπαρνήσομαι. will I deny. ὁμοίως Likewise καί also, πάντες all οἱ the μαθηταί disciples εἶπαν. said.

Τότε Then ἔρχεται comes μετ ̓ with αὐτῶν them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἰς to χωρίον a place λεγόμενον called Γεθσημανί Gethsemane, καί and λέγει He says τοῖς to the μαθηταῖς· disciples, Καθίσατε Sit αὐτοῦ here, ἕως until οὗ that ἀπελθών having gone away ἐκεῖ over there, προσεύξωμαι. I shall pray. Καί And παραλαβών having taken with [Him] τόν - Πέτρον Peter καί and τούς the δύο two υἱούς sons Ζεβεδαίου of Zebedee, ἤρξατο He began λυπεῖσθαι to be sorrowful καί and ἀδημονεῖν. deeply distressed. τότε Then λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Περίλυπος Very sorrowful ἐστίν is ἡ the ψυχή soul μου of Me, ἕως even to θανάτου· death; μείνατε remain ὧδε here καί and γρηγορεῖτε watch μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ. Me. Καί And προελθών having gone forward μικρόν a little, ἔπεσεν He fell ἐπί upon πρόσωπον face αὐτοῦ of Him, προσευχόμενος praying, καί and λέγων· saying, Πάτερ Father μου, of Me, εἰ if δυνατόν possible ἐστίν, it is, παρελθάτω let pass ἀπ ̓ from ἐμοῦ Me τό the ποτήριον cup τοῦτο· this. πλήν Nevertheless οὐ not ὡς as ἐγώ I θέλω will, ἀλλ ̓ but ὡς as σύ.
