Καί And Κύριος (the) LORD ἐπεσκέψατο visited τήν - Σάρραν, Sarah, καθά as εἶπεν· he said, καί and ἐποίησεν did Κύριος (the) LORD τῇ - Σάρρᾳ to Sarah καθά as ἐλάλησεν. he talked about. καί And, συλλαβοῦσα after conceiving, ἔτεκεν bore Σάρρα Sarah τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abraham υἱόν a son εἰς in τό (his) γῆρας, old age εἰς at τόν the καιρόν time καθά just as ἐλάλησεν talked about αὐτῷ to him. Κύριος. (the) Lord καί And ἐκάλεσεν called Ἀβραάμ Abraham τό the ὄνομα name τοῦ - υἱοῦ son αὐτοῦ of his τοῦ who γενομένου was born αὐτῷ, to him, ὅν whom ἔτεκεν bore αὐτῷ to him, Σάρρα, Sarah Ἰσαάκ· Isaac. περιέτεμεν circumcised δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham τόν - Ἰσαάκ Isaac τῇ on the ὀγδόῃ eighth ἡμέρᾳ, day, καθά just as ἐνετείλατο commanded αὐτῷ him. ὁ - θεός. God Ἀβραάμ Abraham δέ - ἦν was ἑκατόν a hundred ἐτῶν, years old ἡνίκα when ἐγένετο was born αὐτῷ to him. Ἰσαάκ Isaac ὁ - υἱός son αὐτοῦ. his εἶπεν said: δέ - Σάρρα Sarah Γέλωτα laughter μοι for me ἐποίησεν has made Κύριος· (The) Lord ὅς who γάρ for ἐάν ever ἀκούσῃ hears συγχαρεῖται will rejoice with μοι. me. καί And εἶπεν she said: Τίς Who ἀναγγελεῖ will report τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abraham ὅτι that θηλάζει is breastfeeding παιδίον a young child? Καί And ηὐξήθη grew τό the παιδίον infant καί and ἀπεγαλακτίσθη· was weaned, καί and ἐποίησεν made Ἀβραάμ Abraham δοχήν feast μεγάλην a great ᾗ (on) which ἡμέρᾳ on the day ἀπεγαλακτίσθη was weaned. Ἰσαάκ Isaac ὁ - υἱός son αὐτοῦ. his ἰδοῦσα When saw δέ - Σάρρα Sarah τόν the υἱόν son Ἁγάρ of Hagar τῆς the Αἰγυπτίας, Egyptian ὅς who ἐγένετο was born τῷ - Ἀβραάμ, to Abraham, παίζοντα playing μετά with Ἰσαάκ Isaac τοῦ - υἱοῦ son, ἑαυτῆς, her καί then εἶπεν she said τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abraham: Ἔκβαλε Cast out τήν - παιδίσκην maiden ταύτην this καί and τόν - υἱόν son αὐτῆς· her, οὐ not γάρ for μή not κληρονομήσει will inherit ὁ the υἱός son τῆς - παιδίσκης maiden μετά with τοῦ - υἱοῦ son μου my Ἰσαάκ. Isaac. σκληρόν harsh δέ But ἐφάνη seemed τό the ῥῆμα matter σφόδρα very ἐναντίον before Ἀβραάμ Abraham περί concerning τοῦ - υἱοῦ son. αὐτοῦ his Ἰσμαήλ. Ἐγένετο It happened δέ - ἐν in τῷ - καιρῷ time ἐκείνῳ that καί that εἶπεν spoke Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech καί and Ὀχοζάθ Ahuzzath ὁ - νυμφαγωγός best man αὐτοῦ his καί and Φικόλ Phicol ὁ the ἀρχιστράτηγος commander-in-chief τῆς - δυνάμεως army αὐτοῦ of his πρός to Ἀβραάμ Abraham, λέγων saying: ὁ - θεός God μετά (be) with σοῦ you ἐν in πᾶσιν all οἷς that ἐάν may ποιῇς. you do, νῦν now οὖν So ὄμοσον swear μοι to me τόν - θεόν, (by) God μή not ἀδικήσειν to do wrong (to) με me μηδέ nor τό - σπέρμα offspring μου my μηδέ nor τό - ὄνομα name, μου· my ἀλλά but κατά according to τήν the δικαιοσύνην righteousness, ἥν which ἐποίησα I have done μετά with σοῦ you, ποιήσεις you will do μετ ̓ with ἐμοῦ, me καί and τῇ the γῇ land, ᾗ which σύ you παρῴκησας dwelt ἐν in αὐτῇ. it. καί And εἶπεν said: Ἀβραάμ Abraham Ἐγώ I ὀμοῦμαι. will swear. καί And ἤλεγξεν questioned Ἀβραάμ Abraham τόν - Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech περί about τῶν the φρεάτων cisterns τοῦ - ὕδατος of water, ὧν which ἀφείλαντο had taken for themselves. οἱ the παῖδες servants τοῦ - Ἀβιμέλεχ. of Abimelech καί And εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech οὐκ not ἔγνων I did know τίς who ἐποίησεν did τό - πρᾶγμα thing, τοῦτο· this οὐδέ nor σύ you μοι to me, ἀπήγγειλας, did report (it) οὐδέ nor ἐγώ I ἤκουσα did hear ἀλλά except σήμερον. today. καί And ἔλαβεν took Ἀβραάμ Abraham πρόβατα a sheep καί and μόσχους calves καί and ἔδωκεν gave (them) τῷ - Ἀβιμέλεχ· to Abimelech, καί and διέθεντο established ἀμφότεροι both διαθήκην. a covenant. καί And ἔστησεν set Ἀβραάμ Abraham ἑπτά seven ἀμνάδας ewe lambs προβάτων from the sheep. μόνας. apart καί And εἶπεν said Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech τῷ - Ἀβραάμ to Abraham: Τί What εἰσίν are αἱ the ἑπτά seven ἀμνάδες lambs τῶν - προβάτων sheep, τούτων from these ἅς which ἔστησας you set μόνας; apart? καί And εἶπεν said: Ἀβραάμ Abraham ὅτι - Τάς - ἑπτά seven ἀμνάδας ewe lambs ταύτας these λήμψῃ You will receive παρ ̓ from ἐμοῦ, me, ἵνα in order that ὦσιν they may be εἰς as μαρτύριον proof ὅτι that ἐγώ I myself ὤρυξα dug τό - φρέαρ well. τοῦτο. this διά Because of τοῦτο this ἐπωνόμασεν he called τό the ὄνομα name τοῦ - τόπου place ἐκείνου of that Φρέαρ Well ὁρκισμοῦ, of the Oath, ὅτι because ἐκεῖ there ὤμοσαν swore an oath. ἀμφότεροι. both καί And διέθεντο they established διαθήκην a covenant ἐν at τῷ the φρέατι well τοῦ of the ὅρκου. oath. ἀνέστη arose δέ - Ἀβιμέλεχ Abimelech καί and Ὀχοζάθ Ahuzzath ὁ - νυμφαγωγός best man αὐτοῦ his καί and Φικόλ Phicol ὁ the ἀρχιστράτηγος commander-in-chief τῆς - δυνάμεως army αὐτοῦ, of his καί and ἐπέστρεψαν returned εἰς to τήν the γῆν land τῶν of the Φυλιστιείμ. Philistines. καί And ἐφύτευσεν planted Ἀβραάμ Abraham ἄρουραν a field ἐπί at τῷ the φρέατι Well τοῦ of the ὅρκου, Oath καί and ἐπεκαλέσατο called upon ἐκεῖ there τό the ὄνομα name Κυρίου, of (the) LORD Θεός God αἰώνιος. everlasting. παρῴκησεν dwelt δέ - Ἀβραάμ Abraham ἐν in τῇ the γῇ land τῶν of the Φυλιστιείμ Philistines ἡμέρας days. πολλάς. for many

Καί And ἐγένετο it happened μετά after τά - ῥήματα words, ταῦτα these ὁ - θεός God ἐπείραζεν was testing τόν - Ἀβραάμ· Abraham καί and εἶπεν said πρός to αὐτόν him: Ἀβραάμ Abraham, Ἀβραάμ. Abraham. ὁ he (Abraam) δέ But εἶπεν said: Ἰδού Look, ἐγώ. (it is) I. καί And εἶπεν he said: Λάβε Take τόν - υἱόν son, σου your τόν - ἀγαπητόν beloved ὅν whom ἠγάπησας, you love, τόν - Ἰσαάκ, Isaac, καί and πορεύθητι go εἰς into τήν the γῆν land τήν - ὑψηλήν, high καί and ἀνένεγκον take up αὐτόν him ἐκεῖ there εἰς as ὁλοκάρπωσιν a sacrifice ἐφ ̓ on ἕν one τῶν of the ὀρέων summits, ὧν which ἄν -ever σοι you. εἴπω. God καί and ᾠκοδόμησεν built ἐκεῖ there Ἀβραάμ Abraham θυσιαστήριον an altar καί and ἐπέθηκεν placed τά the ξύλα· wood, καί and συμποδίσας having bound the feet of Ἰσαάκ of Isaac τόν - υἱόν son, αὐτοῦ his ἐπέθηκεν he placed αὐτόν him ἐπί on τό the θυσιαστήριον altar ἐπάνω upon τῶν the ξύλων. wood. καί And ἐξέτεινεν stretched out Ἀβραάμ Abraham τήν - χεῖρα hand αὐτοῦ his λαβεῖν to take τήν the μάχαιραν, knife σφάξαι to slay τόν - υἱόν son, αὐτοῦ. his καί and ἐκάλεσεν called αὐτόν him ἄγγελος the angel Κυρίου of Lord ἐκ from τοῦ - οὐρανοῦ heaven καί and εἶπεν said αὐτῷ to him: Ἀβραάμ Abraham, Ἀβραάμ. Abraham! ὁ He δέ - εἶπεν said: Ἰδού Look, ἐγώ. (it is) I. καί And εἶπεν he said: Μή not ἐπιβάλῃς Do lay τήν - χεῖρα hand σου your ἐπί upon τό the παιδάριον, child μηδέ and (do) not ποιήσῃς do αὐτῷ to him μηδέν· anything, νῦν now γάρ for ἔγνων I know ὅτι that φοβῇ fear τόν - θεόν God σύ, you καί and οὐ not ἐφείσω you have spared τοῦ - υἱοῦ son σου your τοῦ - ἀγαπητοῦ beloved δι ̓ on account of ἐμέ. me. καί And, ἀναβλέψας looking up, Ἀβραάμ Abraham τοῖς - ὀφθαλμοῖς eyes αὐτοῦ (with) his ἴδεν, saw καί and, ἰδού look, κριός ram εἷς one κατεχόμενος being held ἐν in φυτῷ a bush, σαβέκ a sabek τῶν of the κεράτων. horns, καί and ἐπορεύθη went Ἀβραάμ Abraham καί and ἔλαβεν took τόν the κριόν, ram καί and ἀνήνεγκεν offered αὐτόν it εἰς as ὁλοκάρπωσιν a whole offering ἀντί instead of Ἰσαάκ Isaac τοῦ - υἱοῦ son. αὐτοῦ. his καί And ἐκάλεσεν called Ἀβραάμ Abraham τό the ὄνομα name τοῦ - τόπου place ἐκείνου of that Κύριος (the) Lord ἴδεν· saw; ἵνα so that εἴπωσιν they might say σήμερον today: ἐν On τῷ the ὄρει mountain Κύριος (the) LORD ὤφθη. was seen.
