Ἄνθρωπος A man ἦν there was, οἰκοδεσπότης a master of a house, ὅστις who ἐφύτευσεν planted ἀμπελῶνα a vineyard, καί and φραγμόν a fence αὐτῷ it περιέθηκεν placed around, καί and ὤρυξεν dug ἐν in αὐτῷ it ληνόν a winepress, καί and ᾠκοδόμησεν built πύργον a tower, καί and ἐξέδετο rented out αὐτόν it γεωργοῖς to farmers, καί and ἀπεδήμησεν. traveled abroad. Ὅτε When δέ then ἤγγισεν drew near ὁ the καιρός season τῶν of the καρπῶν, fruits, ἀπέστειλεν he sent τούς the δούλους servants αὐτοῦ of him πρός to τούς the γεωργούς farmers λαβεῖν to receive τούς the καρπούς fruits αὐτοῦ. of him. καί And λαβόντες having taken οἱ the γεωργοί farmers τούς the δούλους servants αὐτοῦ of him, ὅν one μέν - ἔδειραν, they beat, ὅν one δέ then ἀπέκτειναν, they killed, ὅν one δέ then ἐλιθοβόλησαν. they stoned. Πάλιν Again ἀπέστειλεν he sent ἄλλους other δούλους servants, πλείονας more τῶν than the πρώτων, first, καί and ἐποίησαν they did αὐτοῖς to them ὡσαύτως. likewise. Ὕστερον Afterward δέ then, ἀπέστειλεν he sent πρός to αὐτούς them τόν the υἱόν son αὐτοῦ of him, λέγων· saying, Ἐντραπήσονται They will respect τόν the υἱόν son μου. of me. οἱ - δέ But γεωργοί the farmers ἰδόντες having seen τόν the υἱόν son, εἶπον said ἐν among ἑαυτοῖς· themselves, Οὗτος This ἐστίν is ὁ the κληρονόμος· heir; δεῦτε come, ἀποκτείνωμεν let us kill αὐτόν him καί and σχῶμεν gain possession of τήν the κληρονομίαν inheritance αὐτοῦ, of him. καί And λαβόντες having taking αὐτόν him, ἐξέβαλον they cast [him] ἔξω out of τοῦ the ἀμπελῶνος vineyard καί and ἀπέκτειναν. killed [him]. Ὅταν When οὖν therefore ἔλθῃ shall come ὁ the κύριος master τοῦ of the ἀμπελῶνος, vineyard, τί what ποιήσει will he do τοῖς the γεωργοῖς farmers ἐκείνοις; to those? Λέγουσιν They say αὐτῷ· to him, Κακούς [The] wretches, κακῶς grievously ἀπολέσει He will destroy αὐτούς them, καί and τόν the ἀμπελῶνα vineyard ἐκδώσεται he will rent out ἄλλοις to other γεωργοῖς, farmers, οἵτινες who ἀποδώσουσιν will give αὐτῷ to him τούς the καρπούς fruits ἐν in τοῖς the καιροῖς seasons αὐτῶν. of them.
Λέγει Says αὐτοῖς to them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς· Jesus, Οὐδέποτε Never ἀνέγνωτε did you read ἐν in ταῖς the γραφαῖς· Scriptures: Λίθον [The] stone ὅν which ἀπεδοκίμασαν rejected οἱ those οἰκοδομοῦντες, building, Οὗτος this ἐγενήθη has become εἰς the κεφαλήν chief γωνίας· corner. Παρά From Κυρίου [the] Lord ἐγένετο was αὕτη this, Καί and ἔστιν it is θαυμαστή marvelous ἐν in ὀφθαλμοῖς [the] eyes ἡμῶν; of us?’
Διά Because of τοῦτο this λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that ἀρθήσεται will be taken away ἀφ ̓ from ὑμῶν you ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, καί and δοθήσεται it will be given ἔθνει to a people ποιοῦντι producing τούς the καρπούς fruits αὐτῆς. of it. καί And ὁ the [one] πεσών having fallen ἐπί on τόν the λίθον stone τοῦτον this συνθλασθήσεται· will be broken; ἐφ ̓ on ὅν whomever δ ̓ but ἄν - πέσῃ it shall fall, λικμήσει it will grind to powder αὐτόν. him.
Καί And ἀκούσαντες having heard οἱ the ἀρχιερεῖς chief priests καί and οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees τάς the παραβολάς parables αὐτοῦ of Him, ἔγνωσαν they knew ὅτι that περί about αὐτῶν them λέγει· He speaks. καί And ζητοῦντες seeking αὐτόν Him κρατῆσαι to lay hold of, ἐφοβήθησαν they feared τούς the ὄχλους, crowds, ἐπεί because εἰς as προφήτην a prophet αὐτόν Him εἶχον. they were holding.
Καί And ἀποκριθείς answering, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus πάλιν again εἶπεν spoke ἐν in παραβολαῖς parables αὐτοῖς to them, λέγων· saying, Ὡμοιώθη Has become like ἡ the βασιλεία kingdom τῶν of the οὐρανῶν heavens ἀνθρώπῳ to a man, βασιλεῖ, a king, ὅστις who ἐποίησεν made γάμους a wedding feast τῷ for the υἱῷ son αὐτοῦ. of him. καί And ἀπέστειλεν he sent τούς the δούλους servants αὐτοῦ of him καλέσαι to call τούς those κεκλημένους having been invited εἰς to τούς the γάμους, wedding feast, καί and οὐ not ἤθελον they were willing ἐλθεῖν. to come. Πάλιν Again ἀπέστειλεν he sent ἄλλους other δούλους servants, λέγων· saying, Εἴπατε Say τοῖς to those κεκλημένοις· having been invited, Ἰδού Behold, τό the ἄριστον dinner μου of me ἡτοίμακα, I have prepared, οἱ the ταῦροι oxen μου of Me καί and τά the σιτιστά fatlings τεθυμένα have been killed, καί and πάντα all things [are] ἕτοιμα· ready; δεῦτε come εἰς to τούς the γάμους. wedding feast. οἱ - δέ And ἀμελήσαντες having paid no attention ἀπῆλθον, they went away, ὅς one μέν - εἰς to τόν the ἴδιον own ἀγρόν, field, ὅς one δέ then ἐπί to τήν the ἐμπορίαν business αὐτοῦ· of him. οἱ - δέ And λοιποί the rest, κρατήσαντες having laid hold of τούς the δούλους servants αὐτοῦ of him, ὕβρισαν mistreated καί and ἀπέκτειναν. killed [them]. ὁ - δέ And βασιλεύς the king ὠργίσθη was angry, καί and πέμψας having sent τά the στρατεύματα armies αὐτοῦ of him, ἀπώλεσεν he destroyed τούς the φονεῖς murderers ἐκείνους those, καί and τήν the πόλιν city αὐτῶν of them ἐνέπρησεν. he burned. τότε Then λέγει he says τοῖς to δούλοις servants αὐτοῦ· of him, ὁ The μέν indeed γάμος wedding feast ἕτοιμος ready ἐστίν, is; οἱ those δέ however κεκλημένοι having been invited οὐ not ἦσαν were ἄξιοι· worthy. πορεύεσθε Go οὖν therefore ἐπί into τάς the διεξόδους thoroughfares τῶν of the ὁδῶν highways, καί and ὅσους as many as ἐάν if εὕρητε you shall find, καλέσατε invite εἰς to τούς the γάμους. wedding feast. Καί And ἐξελθόντες having gone out οἱ the δοῦλοι servants ἐκεῖνοι those εἰς into τάς the ὁδούς highways, συνήγαγον they brought together πάντας all οὕς as many as εὗρον, they found, πονηρούς evil τέ both καί and ἀγαθούς· good; καί and ἐπλήσθη became full ὁ the γάμος wedding hall ἀνακειμένων. of those reclining. Εἰσελθών Having entered in δέ then ὁ the βασιλεύς king θεάσασθαι to see τούς those ἀνακειμένους reclining, εἶδεν he beheld ἐκεῖ there ἄνθρωπον a man οὐ not ἐνδεδυμένον being dressed ἔνδυμα in clothes γάμου, of wedding; καί and λέγει he says αὐτῷ· to him, Ἑταῖρε, Friend, πῶς how εἰσῆλθες did you enter ὧδε here μή not ἔχων having ἔνδυμα garment γάμου; of wedding? ὁ - δέ And ἐφιμώθη. he was speechless. Τότε Then ὁ the βασιλεύς king εἶπεν said τοῖς to the διακόνοις· servants, Δήσαντες Having bound αὐτοῦ his πόδας feet καί and χεῖρας hands, ἐκβάλετε cast out αὐτόν him εἰς into τό the σκότος darkness τό - ἐξώτερον· outer; ἐκεῖ there ἔσται will be ὁ the κλαυθμός weeping καί and ὁ the βρυγμός gnashing τῶν of the ὀδόντων. teeth. Πολλοί Many γάρ for εἰσίν are κλητοί, called, ὀλίγοι few δέ however ἐκλεκτοί. chosen.
Τότε Then πορευθέντες having gone out, οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι Pharisees συμβούλιον counsel ἔλαβον took ὅπως how αὐτόν Him παγιδεύσωσιν they might trap ἐν in λόγῳ. His words. καί And ἀποστέλλουσιν they send αὐτῷ to Him τούς the μαθητάς disciples αὐτῶν of them, μετά with τῶν the Ἡρῳδιανῶν Herodians, λέγοντες· saying, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, οἴδαμεν we know ὅτι that ἀληθής true εἶ You are, καί and τήν the ὁδόν way τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ἐν in ἀληθείᾳ [the] truth διδάσκεις You teach, καί and οὐ not μέλει there is care σοι to You περί about οὐδενός· no one, οὐ not γάρ for βλέπεις You look εἰς on [the] πρόσωπον appearance ἀνθρώπων, of men. εἰπέ Tell οὖν therefore ἡμῖν us τί what σοι You δοκεῖ· think? ἔξεστιν Is it lawful δοῦναι to give κῆνσον tribute Καίσαρι to Caesar, ἤ or οὔ; not? Γνούς Having known δέ however ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus τήν the πονηρίαν malice αὐτῶν of them, εἶπεν· He said, Τί Why με Me πειράζετε, do you test, ὑποκριταί; hypocrites? ἐπιδείξατε Show μοι Me τό the νόμισμα coin τοῦ of the κήνσου. tribute. οἱ - δέ And προσήνεγκαν they presented αὐτῷ to Him δηνάριον. a denarius. Καί And λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Τίνος Whose [is] ἡ the εἰκών likeness αὕτη this? καί And ἡ whose ἐπιγραφή; inscription? Λέγουσιν They say αὐτῷ· to Him Καίσαρος. Caesar’s. Τότε Then λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Ἀπόδοτε Give back οὖν therefore τά the things Καίσαρος of Caesar Καίσαρι to Caesar, καί and τά the things τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God τῷ - Θεῷ. to God. Καί And ἀκούσαντες having heard, ἐθαύμασαν, they marveled; καί and ἀφέντες having left αὐτόν Him, ἀπῆλθαν. they went away.
ἐν On ἐκείνῃ that τῇ - ἡμέρᾳ day προσῆλθον came αὐτῷ to Him Σαδδουκαῖοι, Sadducees, λέγοντες those saying μή not εἶναι there is ἀνάστασιν, a resurrection, καί and ἐπηρώτησαν they questioned αὐτόν Him, λέγοντες· saying, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, Μωϋσῆς Moses εἶπεν· said, Ἐάν If τὶς anyone ἀποθάνῃ should die μή not ἔχων having τέκνα, children, ἐπιγαμβρεύσει will marry ὁ the ἀδελφός brother αὐτοῦ of him τήν the γυναῖκα wife αὐτοῦ of him, καί and ἀναστήσει he will raise up σπέρμα offspring τῷ for the ἀδελφῷ brother αὐτοῦ. of him. ἦσαν There were δέ now παρ ̓ among ἡμῖν us ἑπτά seven ἀδελφοί· brothers; καί and ὁ the πρῶτος first, γήμας having married, ἐτελεύτησεν, died, καί and μή not ἔχων having σπέρμα seed, ἀφῆκεν he left τήν the γυναῖκα wife αὐτοῦ of him τῷ to the ἀδελφῷ brother αὐτοῦ· of him. ὁμοίως Likewise καί also ὁ the δεύτερος second, καί and ὁ the τρίτος third, ἕως unto τῶν the ἑπτά. seventh. ὕστερον Last δέ then πάντων of all, ἀπέθανεν died ἡ the γυνή. woman. ἐν In τῇ the ἀναστάσει resurrection, οὖν therefore, τίνος of which τῶν of the ἑπτά seven ἔσται will she be γυνή; wife? πάντες All γάρ for ἔσχον had αὐτήν· her. Ἀποκριθείς Answering δέ now, ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν said αὐτοῖς· to them, Πλανᾶσθε You err, μή not εἰδότες knowing τάς the γραφάς Scriptures, μηδέ nor τήν the δύναμιν power τοῦ - Θεοῦ· of God. ἐν In γάρ for τῇ the ἀναστάσει resurrection, οὔτε neither γαμοῦσιν do they marry, οὔτε nor γαμίζονται, are given in marriage, ἀλλ ̓ but ὡς like ἄγγελοι angels ἐν in τῷ - οὐρανῷ heaven εἰσίν. they are. περί Concerning δέ now τῆς the ἀναστάσεως resurrection τῶν of the νεκρῶν dead, οὐ not ἀνέγνωτε have you read τό that which ῥηθέν has been spoken ὑμῖν to you ὑπό by τοῦ - Θεοῦ God, λέγοντος· saying, Ἐγώ I εἰμί am ὁ the Θεός God Ἀβραάμ of Abraham καί and ὁ the Θεός God Ἰσαάκ of Isaac καί and ὁ the Θεός God Ἰακώβ; of Jacob?’ οὐ Not ἔστιν He is ὁ the Θεός God νεκρῶν of [the] dead, ἀλλά but ζώντων. of [the] living. Καί And ἀκούσαντες having heard, οἱ the ὄχλοι crowds ἐξεπλήσσοντο were astonished ἐπί at τῇ the διδαχῇ teaching αὐτοῦ. of Him.
οἱ - δέ And Φαρισαῖοι the Pharisees, ἀκούσαντες having heard ὅτι that ἐφίμωσεν He had silenced τούς the Σαδδουκαίους Sadducees, συνήχθησαν were gathered ἐπί together τό the αὐτό, same. καί And ἐπηρώτησεν questioned [Him] εἷς one ἐκ of αὐτῶν them, νομικός a lawyer, πειράζων testing αὐτόν· Him, Διδάσκαλε, Teacher, ποία which ἐντολή commandment μεγάλη [is the] greatest ἐν in τῷ the νόμῳ; law? ὁ - δέ And ἔφη He said αὐτῷ· to him, Ἀγαπήσεις You shall love κύριον [the] Lord τόν the Θεόν God σου of you ἐν with ὅλῃ all τῇ the καρδίᾳ heart σου of you, καί and ἐν with ὅλῃ all τῇ the ψυχῇ soul σου of you, καί and ἐν with ὅλῃ all τῇ the διανοίᾳ mind σου· of you.’ αὕτη This ἐστίν is ἡ the μεγάλη great καί and πρώτη first ἐντολή. commandment. δευτέρα [The] second δέ also ὁμοία [is] like αὐτῇ· it: Ἀγαπήσεις You shall love τόν the πλησίον neighbor σου of you ὡς as σεαυτόν. yourself.’ ἐν On ταύταις these ταῖς - δυσίν two ἐντολαῖς commandments, ὅλος all ὁ the νόμος law κρέμαται hangs καί and οἱ the προφῆται. Prophets.
Συνηγμένων Having been assembled together δέ now τῶν the Φαρισαίων Pharisees, ἐπηρώτησεν questioned αὐτούς them ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus, λέγων· saying, Τί What ὑμῖν you δοκεῖ think περί concerning τοῦ the Χριστοῦ; Christ? τίνος Of whom υἱός son ἐστίν; is He? Λέγουσιν They say αὐτῷ· to Him, Τοῦ - Δαυίδ. Of David. Λέγει He says αὐτοῖς· to them, Πῶς How οὖν then, Δαυίδ David ἐν in Πνεύματι spirit καλεῖ does call αὐτόν Him Κύριον Lord, λέγων· saying: Εἶπεν Said Κύριος the Lord τῷ to the Κυρίῳ Lord μου· of me, Κάθου Sit ἐκ on δεξιῶν [the] right hand μου, of Me, Ἕως until ἄν - θῶ I place τούς the ἐχθρούς enemies σου of You Ὑποκάτω [as] a footstool τῶν for the ποδῶν feet σου; of You.”’
εἰ If οὖν therefore Δαυίδ David καλεῖ calls αὐτόν Him Κύριον, Lord, πῶς how υἱός son αὐτοῦ of him ἐστίν; is He? Καί And οὐδείς no one ἐδύνατο was able ἀποκριθῆναι to answer αὐτῷ Him λόγον a word, οὐδέ nor ἐτόλμησεν dared τὶς anyone ἀπ ̓ from ἐκείνης that τῆς - ἡμέρας day ἐπερωτῆσαι to question αὐτόν Him οὐκέτι. no longer.
Τότε Then ὁ - Ἰησοῦς Jesus ἐλάλησεν spoke τοῖς to the ὄχλοις crowds καί and τοῖς to μαθηταῖς disciples αὐτοῦ of Him, λέγων· saying, Ἐπί On τῆς - Μωϋσέως Moses’ καθέδρας seat ἐκάθισαν have sat down οἱ the γραμματεῖς scribes καί and οἱ the Φαρισαῖοι. Πάντα All δέ now τά the ἔργα deeds αὐτῶν of them, ποιοῦσιν they do πρός in order τό - θεαθῆναι to be seen τοῖς - ἀνθρώποις· by men. πλατύνουσιν They broaden γάρ for τά the φυλακτήρια phylacteries αὐτῶν of them, καί and μεγαλύνουσιν enlarge τά their κράσπεδα, tassels. φιλοῦσιν They love δέ now τήν the πρωτοκλισίαν chief place ἐν at τοῖς the δείπνοις banquets, καί and τάς the πρωτοκαθεδρίας first seats ἐν in ταῖς the συναγωγαῖς synagogues, καί and τούς the ἀσπασμούς greetings ἐν in ταῖς the ἀγοραῖς marketplaces, καί and καλεῖσθαι to be called ὑπό by τῶν - ἀνθρώπων men, Ῥαββί.
