Οὗτοι These δέ however, ὡς like ἄλογα irrational ζῷα animals, γεγεννημένα having been born φυσικά as creatures of instinct εἰς for ἅλωσιν capture καί and φθοράν destruction, ἐν in οἷς what ἀγνοοῦσιν they are ignorant of, βλασφημοῦντες blaspheming, ἐν in τῇ the φθορᾷ destruction αὐτῶν of them καί also φθαρήσονται will be destroyed, ἀδικούμενοι suffering wrong μισθόν [as the] wage ἀδικίας of unrighteousness; ἡδονήν [as] pleasure ἡγούμενοι esteeming τήν - ἐν in ἡμέρᾳ daytime τρυφήν, carousal; σπίλοι blots καί and μῶμοι blemishes, ἐντρυφῶντες reveling ἐν in ταῖς the ἀπάταις deceptions αὐτῶν of them, συνευωχούμενοι feasting with ὑμῖν, you; ὀφθαλμούς eyes ἔχοντες having μεστούς full μοιχαλίδος of adultery, καί and ἀκαταπαύστους unceasing ἁμαρτίας, from sin, δελεάζοντες enticing ψυχάς souls ἀστηρίκτους, unestablished; καρδίαν a heart γεγυμνασμένην having been exercised πλεονεξίας in craving ἔχοντες, having — κατάρας of a curse τέκνα. children! Λανθάνει It is concealed from γάρ indeed αὐτούς them τοῦτο this θέλοντας willingly, ὅτι that οὐρανοί heavens ἦσαν existed ἔκπαλαι long ago, καί and γῆ [the] earth ἐκ out of ὕδατος water καί and δι ̓ through ὕδατος water συνεστῶσα having been composed τῷ by the τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God λόγῳ word, δι ̓ through ὧν which ὁ the τότε at that time κόσμος world, ὕδατι with water κατακλυσθείς having been deluged, ἀπώλετο· perished. οἱ - δέ But νῦν now οὐρανοί the heavens καί and ἡ the γῆ earth, τῷ by the αὐτῷ same λόγῳ word τεθησαυρισμένοι having been stored up εἰσίν exist, πυρί for fire τηρούμενοι being kept εἰς unto ἡμέραν [the] day κρίσεως of judgment καί and ἀπωλείας destruction τῶν - ἀσεβῶν of ungodly ἀνθρώπων. men.

Ἕν [This] one δέ however τοῦτο thing μή not λανθανέτω let be hidden from ὑμᾶς, you, ἀγαπητοί, beloved, ὅτι that μία one ἡμέρα day παρά with [the] Κυρίῳ Lord [is] ὡς like χίλια a thousand ἔτη years, καί and χίλια a thousand ἔτη years ὡς like ἡμέρα day μία. one. οὐ Not βραδύνει does delay Κύριος the Lord τῆς the ἐπαγγελίας, promise, ὥς as τινές some βραδύτητα slowness ἡγοῦνται, esteem, ἀλλά but μακροθυμεῖ is patient εἰς toward ὑμᾶς you, μή not βουλόμενος willing τινάς [for] any ἀπολέσθαι to perish, ἀλλά but πάντας all εἰς to μετάνοιαν repentance χωρῆσαι. to come.

Ἥξει Will come δέ however ἡμέρα [the] day Κυρίου of [the] Lord ὡς like κλέπτης a thief, ἐν in ᾗ which οἱ the οὐρανοί heavens ῥοιζηδόν with a roar παρελεύσονται, will pass away, στοιχεῖα elements δέ then καυσούμενα burning with heat λυθήσεται, will be dissolved, καί and γῆ [the] earth καί and τά the ἐν in αὐτῇ it ἔργα works οὐ not εὑρεθήσεται. will be found. Τούτων These things οὕτως in this way πάντων all λυομένων being dissolved, ποταπούς what kind δεῖ ought ὑπάρχειν to be ὑμᾶς you? ἐν In ἁγίαις holy ἀναστροφαῖς conduct καί and εὐσεβείαις godliness, προσδοκῶντας expecting καί and σπεύδοντας hastening τήν the παρουσίαν coming τῆς of the τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ἡμέρας day, δι ̓ by reason of ἥν which οὐρανοί [the] heavens πυρούμενοι being set on fire λυθήσονται will be dissolved, καί and στοιχεῖα [the] elements καυσούμενα burning with heat τήκεται. are melting. καινούς New δέ however οὐρανούς heavens, καί and γῆν earth καινήν a new, κατά according to τό the ἐπάγγελμα promise αὐτοῦ of Him, προσδοκῶμεν we are awaiting, ἐν in οἷς which δικαιοσύνη righteousness κατοικεῖ. dwells.

Διό, Therefore, ἀγαπητοί, beloved, ταῦτα these things προσδοκῶντες expecting, σπουδάσατε be diligent ἄσπιλοι without spot καί and ἀμώμητοι without blemish αὐτῷ by Him εὑρεθῆναι to be found, ἐν in εἰρήνῃ peace. Καί And τήν the τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν of us μακροθυμίαν patience σωτηρίαν [as] salvation ἡγεῖσθε, esteem, καθώς just as καί also ὁ - ἀγαπητός beloved ἡμῶν of us ἀδελφός brother Παῦλος Paul, κατά according to τήν the δοθεῖσαν having been given αὐτῷ to him σοφίαν wisdom, ἔγραψεν wrote ὑμῖν, to you, ὡς as καί also ἐν in πάσαις all ταῖς the ἐπιστολαῖς letters, λαλῶν speaking ἐν in αὐταῖς them περί concerning τούτων these things, ἐν among αἷς which ἐστίν are δυσνόητα difficult to be understood τινά some things, ἅ which οἱ the ἀμαθεῖς ignorant καί and ἀστήρικτοι unestablished στρεβλοῦσιν distort, ὡς as καί also τάς the λοιπάς other γραφάς Scriptures, πρός to τήν the ἰδίαν own αὐτῶν of them ἀπώλειαν. destruction.

Ὑμεῖς You οὖν, therefore, ἀγαπητοί, beloved, προγινώσκοντες knowing [this] beforehand, φυλάσσεσθε, beware, ἵνα that μή not τῇ by the τῶν of the ἀθέσμων lawless πλάνῃ error συναπαχθέντες having been led away, ἐκπέσητε you should fall from τοῦ the ἰδίου own στηριγμοῦ, steadfastness. αὐξάνετε Grow δέ however ἐν in χάριτι grace, καί and γνώσει in knowledge τοῦ of the Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν of us καί and Σωτῆρος Savior Ἰησοῦ Jesus Χριστοῦ. Christ. αὐτῷ To Him [be] ἡ the δόξα glory καί both νῦν now καί and εἰς to ἡμέραν [the] day αἰῶνος. of eternity.
