μή Not γάρ for τὶς any ὑμῶν of you πασχέτω let suffer ὡς as φονεύς a murderer, ἤ or κλέπτης a thief, ἤ or κακοποιός an evildoer, ἤ or ὡς as ἀλλοτριεπίσκοπος· a troublesome meddler; εἰ if δέ however ὡς as Χριστιανός, a Christian, μή not αἰσχυνέσθω, let him be ashamed; δοξαζέτω let him glorify δέ however τόν - Θεόν God ἐν in τῷ the ὀνόματι name τούτῳ. this. ὅτι For [it is] ὁ the καιρός time [for] τοῦ - ἄρξασθαι to have begun τό the κρίμα judgment ἀπό from τοῦ the οἴκου house τοῦ - Θεοῦ· of God; εἰ if δέ now πρῶτον first ἀφ ̓ from ἡμῶν, us, τί what [will be] τό the τέλος outcome τῶν of those ἀπειθούντων disobeying τῷ the τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God εὐαγγελίῳ; gospel? καί And, εἰ If ὁ the δίκαιος righteous [one] μόλις with difficulty σώζεται, is saved, ὁ the ἀσεβής ungodly καί and ἁμαρτωλός sinner ποῦ where φανεῖται; will appear?” Ὥστε Therefore καί also, οἱ those πάσχοντες suffering κατά according to τό the θέλημα will τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, πιστῷ to [the] faithful Κτίστῃ Creator παρατιθέσθωσαν let them commit τάς the ψυχάς souls αὐτῶν of them ἐν in ἀγαθοποιΐᾳ. well doing.

Πρεσβυτέρους Elders τούς - ἐν among ὑμῖν you, παρακαλῶ I exhort, ὁ - συμπρεσβύτερος a fellow elder καί and μάρτυς witness τῶν of the τοῦ - Χριστοῦ of Christ παθημάτων, sufferings, ὁ who [am] καί also τῆς of the μελλούσης being about ἀποκαλύπτεσθαι to be revealed δόξης glory κοινωνός· partaker: ποιμάνατε Shepherd τό the ἐν among ὑμῖν you ποίμνιον flock τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, ἐπισκοποῦντες exercising oversight μή not ἀναγκαστῶς under compulsion, ἀλλά but ἑκουσίως willingly, κατά according to Θεόν, God; μηδέ and not αἰσχροκερδῶς for base gain, ἀλλά but προθύμως, eagerly; μηδ ̓ not ὡς as κατακυριεύοντες exercising lordship over τῶν - κλήρων those in your charge, ἀλλά but τύποι examples γινόμενοι being τοῦ to the ποιμνίου· flock. καί And φανερωθέντος having been revealed τοῦ the Ἀρχιποίμενος Chief Shepherd, κομιεῖσθε you will receive τόν the ἀμαράντινον unfading τῆς - δόξης of glory στέφανον. crown. Ὁμοίως, Likewise, νεώτεροι, younger [ones], ὑποτάγητε be subject πρεσβυτέροις· to [your] elders. πάντες All δέ now ἀλλήλοις one to another τήν - ταπεινοφροσύνην humility ἐγκομβώσασθε, gird on, ὅτι because, ὁ - Θεός God ὑπερηφάνοις [the] proud ἀντιτάσσεται, opposes, ταπεινοῖς to [the] humble δέ however δίδωσιν He gives χάριν. grace.”

Ταπεινώθητε Be humbled οὖν therefore ὑπό under τήν the κραταιάν mighty χεῖρα hand τοῦ - Θεοῦ, of God, ἵνα so that ὑμᾶς you ὑψώσῃ He may exalt ἐν in καιρῷ, [due] time, πᾶσαν all τήν the μέριμναν anxiety ὑμῶν of you ἐπιρίψαντες having cast ἐπ ̓ upon αὐτόν, Him, ὅτι because αὐτῷ with Him μέλει there is care περί about ὑμῶν. you. Νήψατε, Be sober-minded; γρηγορήσατε. watch. ὁ The ἀντίδικος adversary ὑμῶν of You, διάβολος [the] devil, ὡς as λέων a lion ὠρυόμενος roaring περιπατεῖ prowls about, ζητῶν seeking τινά whom καταπιεῖν· to devour, ᾧ whom ἀντίστητε you should resist, στερεοί firm τῇ in the πίστει faith, εἰδότες knowing τά the αὐτά same τῶν - παθημάτων sufferings τῇ - ἐν throughout κόσμῳ [the] world ὑμῶν in your ἀδελφότητι brotherhood ἐπιτελεῖσθαι. to be accomplished. ὁ The δέ now Θεός God πάσης of all χάριτος, grace, ὁ the [one] καλέσας having called ὑμᾶς you εἰς to τήν the αἰώνιον eternal αὐτοῦ of Him δόξαν glory ἐν in Χριστῷ Christ, ὀλίγον a little while παθόντας [of you] having suffered, αὐτός He Himself καταρτίσει, will perfect, στηρίξει, will confirm, σθενώσει, will strengthen, θεμελιώσει. [and] will establish [you]. αὐτῷ To Him [be] τό the κράτος power εἰς to τούς the αἰῶνας, ages. ἀμήν. Amen.

Διά Through Σιλουανοῦ Silvanus, ὑμῖν to you τοῦ the πιστοῦ faithful ἀδελφοῦ, brother ὡς as λογίζομαι, I regard [him], δι ̓ through ὀλίγων few [words] ἔγραψα I have written, παρακαλῶν exhorting καί and ἐπιμαρτυρῶν testifying ταύτην this εἶναι to be ἀληθῆ [the] true χάριν grace τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God, εἰς in ἥν which στῆτε. you stand. Ἀσπάζεται Greets ὑμᾶς you ἡ she ἐν in Βαβυλῶνι Babylon, συνεκλεκτή elected with [you], καί and Μάρκος Mark, ὁ the υἱός son μου. of me. Ἀσπάσασθε Greet ἀλλήλους one another ἐν with φιλήματι a kiss ἀγάπης. of love.

Εἰρήνη Peace [be] ὑμῖν to you πᾶσιν all τοῖς who [are] ἐν in Χριστῷ. Christ.
