Μνημόνευε Remember Ἰησοῦν Jesus Χριστόν Christ, ἐγηγερμένον having been raised ἐκ out from νεκρῶν, [the] dead, ἐκ of [the] σπέρματος seed Δαυίδ, of David, κατά according to τό - εὐαγγέλιον gospel μου, my, ἐν in ᾧ which κακοπαθῶ I suffer hardship, μέχρι even to δεσμῶν chains ὡς as κακοῦργος, an evildoer. ἀλλά But ὁ the λόγος word τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God οὐ not δέδεται· is bound! διά Because of τοῦτο this, πάντα all things ὑπομένω I endure διά for the sake of τούς the ἐκλεκτούς, elect, ἵνα so that καί also αὐτοί they σωτηρίας [the] salvation τύχωσιν may obtain τῆς that [is] ἐν in Χριστῷ Christ Ἰησοῦ Jesus, μετά with δόξης glory αἰωνίου. eternal. Πιστός Trustworthy [is] ὁ the λόγος· saying: εἰ If γάρ for συναπεθάνομεν, we have died together [with Him], καί also συζήσομεν· we will live together [with Him]; εἰ if ὑπομένομεν, we endure, καί also συμβασιλεύσομεν· we will reign together [with Him]; εἰ if ἀρνησόμεθα, we will deny [Him], κἀκεῖνος He also ἀρνήσεται will deny ἡμᾶς· us; εἰ if ἀπιστοῦμεν, we are faithless, ἐκεῖνος He πιστός faithful μένει, remains; ἀρνήσασθαι to deny γάρ for ἑαυτόν Himself, οὐ not δύναται. Ταῦτα These things ὑπομίμνῃσκε remind [them], διαμαρτυρόμενος solemnly charging [them] ἐνώπιον before τοῦ - Θεοῦ God μή not λογομαχεῖν, to quarrel about words, ἐπ ̓ for οὐδέν nothing χρήσιμον, profitable ἐπί [but] to καταστροφῇ [the] subversion τῶν of those ἀκουόντων. hearing. Σπούδασον Hasten σεαυτόν yourself, δόκιμον approved παραστῆσαι to present τῷ - Θεῷ, to God ἐργάτην a workman ἀνεπαίσχυντον, not ashamed, ὀρθοτομοῦντα accurately handling τόν the λόγον word τῆς - ἀληθείας. of truth. Τάς - δέ And νεωτερικάς youthful ἐπιθυμίας lusts φεῦγε, flee; δίωκε pursue δέ now δικαιοσύνην righteousness, πίστιν faith, ἀγάπην love, εἰρήνην [and] peace, μετά along with τῶν those ἐπικαλουμένων calling on τόν the Κύριον Lord ἐκ out of καθαρᾶς pure καρδίας. a heart. Τάς - δέ And μωράς foolish καί and ἀπαιδεύτους ignorant ζητήσεις speculations παραιτοῦ, refuse, εἰδώς knowing ὅτι that γεννῶσιν they breed μάχας· quarrels. δοῦλον [The] bond-servant δέ now Κυρίου of [the] Lord, οὐ not δεῖ it behooves μάχεσθαι to quarrel, ἀλλά but ἤπιον gentle εἶναι to be πρός toward πάντας, all, διδακτικόν, able to teach, ἀνεξίκακον, forbearing, ἐν in πραΰτητι gentleness παιδεύοντα disciplining τούς those ἀντιδιατιθεμένους, opposing, μήποτε lest ever δώῃ may give αὐτοῖς them ὁ - Θεός God μετάνοιαν repentance, εἰς unto ἐπίγνωσιν a knowledge ἀληθείας of [the] truth, καί and ἀνανήψωσιν they might come to their senses ἐκ out of τῆς the τοῦ of the διαβόλου devil παγίδος, snare, ἐζωγρημένοι having been captured ὑπ ̓ by αὐτοῦ him εἰς for τό - ἐκείνου his θέλημα. will.

Τοῦτο This δέ however γίνωσκε, realize, ὅτι that ἐν in ἐσχάταις [the] last ἡμέραις days ἐνστήσονται will be present καιροί times χαλεποί· difficult. ἔσονται Will be γάρ for οἱ - ἄνθρωποι men φίλαυτοι lovers of self, φιλάργυροι lovers of money, ἀλαζόνες boastful, ὑπερήφανοι proud, βλάσφημοι, abusive, γονεῦσιν to parents ἀπειθεῖς, disobedient, ἀχάριστοι ungrateful, ἀνόσιοι unholy, ἄστοργοι unloving, ἄσπονδοι implacable, διάβολοι slanderous, ἀκρατεῖς without self-control, ἀνήμεροι savage, ἀφιλάγαθοι without love of good, προδόται treacherous, προπετεῖς reckless, τετυφωμένοι, puffed up, φιλήδονοι lovers of pleasure μᾶλλον rather ἤ than φιλόθεοι, lovers of God, ἔχοντες having μόρφωσιν a form εὐσεβείας of godliness τήν - δέ but δύναμιν the power αὐτῆς of it ἠρνημένοι· denying. καί And τούτους these ἀποτρέπου. turn away from. ἐκ Out of τούτων this sort γάρ for εἰσίν are οἱ those ἐνδύνοντες entering εἰς into τάς - οἰκίας households καί and αἰχμαλωτίζοντες taking captive γυναικάρια weak women, σεσωρευμένα burdened ἁμαρτίαις, with sins, ἀγόμενα being led away ἐπιθυμίαις by passions ποικίλαις, various, πάντοτε always μανθάνοντα learning καί and μηδέποτε never εἰς to ἐπίγνωσιν a knowledge ἀληθείας of [the] truth ἐλθεῖν to come δυνάμενα. being able. ὅν By which τρόπον way δέ now Ἰάννης Jannes καί and Ἰαμβρῆς Jambres ἀντέστησαν opposed Μωϋσεῖ, Moses, οὕτως so καί also οὗτοι these ἀνθίστανται oppose τῇ the ἀληθείᾳ, truth, ἄνθρωποι men κατεφθαρμένοι being depraved τόν - νοῦν, in mind, ἀδόκιμοι disqualified περί regarding τήν the πίστιν. faith. ἀλλ ̓ But οὐ not προκόψουσιν they will advance ἐπί further πλεῖον· much, ἡ - γάρ for ἄνοια the folly αὐτῶν of them ἔκδηλος plain ἔσται will be πᾶσιν, to all, ὡς as καί also ἡ that ἐκείνων of those [two] ἐγένετο. became.

Σύ You δέ however παρηκολούθησας have closely followed μου my τῇ - διδασκαλίᾳ, teaching, τῇ - ἀγωγῇ, conduct, τῇ - προθέσει, purpose, τῇ - πίστει, faith, τῇ - μακροθυμίᾳ, patience, τῇ - ἀγάπῃ, love, τῇ - ὑπομονῇ, endurance, τοῖς - διωγμοῖς, persecutions, τοῖς - παθήμασιν, sufferings οἷα such as μοι to me ἐγένετο happened ἐν in Ἀντιοχείᾳ, Antioch, ἐν in Ἰκονίῳ, Iconium, ἐν in Λύστροις, Lystra; οἵους what manner of διωγμούς persecutions ὑπήνεγκα I endured! καί And yet ἐκ out of πάντων all, με me ἐρρύσατο delivered ὁ the Κύριος. Σύ You δέ however, μένε abide ἐν in οἷς the things ἔμαθες you have learned καί and ἐπιστώθης, have been assured of, εἰδώς having known παρά from τίνων whom ἔμαθες, you learned [them], καί and ὅτι that ἀπό from βρέφους childhood τά the ἱερά sacred γράμματα writings οἶδας, you have known, τά - δυνάμενα being able σε you σοφίσαι to make wise εἰς unto σωτηρίαν salvation, διά through πίστεως faith, τῆς - ἐν in Χριστῷ Christ Ἰησοῦ. Jesus. πᾶσα Every γραφή Scripture [is] θεόπνευστος God-breathed καί and ὠφέλιμος profitable πρός for διδασκαλίαν, instruction, πρός for ἐλεγμόν, conviction, πρός for ἐπανόρθωσιν, correction, πρός [and] for παιδείαν training τήν - ἐν in δικαιοσύνῃ, righteousness, ἵνα so that ἄρτιος complete ᾖ may be ὁ the τοῦ - Θεοῦ of God ἄνθρωπος, man, πρός toward πᾶν every ἔργον work ἀγαθόν good ἐξηρτισμένος. having been fully equipped.

Διαμαρτύρομαι I earnestly declare ἐνώπιον before τοῦ - Θεοῦ God καί and Χριστοῦ Christ Ἰησοῦ Jesus, τοῦ the [One] μέλλοντος being about κρίνειν to judge ζῶντας [the] living καί and νεκρούς, [the] dead, καί and τήν by the ἐπιφάνειαν appearing αὐτοῦ of Him καί and τήν the βασιλείαν kingdom αὐτοῦ· of Him: κήρυξον Preach τόν the λόγον, word; ἐπίστηθι be ready εὐκαίρως in season ἀκαίρως, [and] out of season; ἔλεγξον, convict, ἐπιτίμησον, rebuke, παρακάλεσον, [and] exhort, ἐν with πάσῃ complete μακροθυμίᾳ patience καί and διδαχῇ. instruction. Ἔσται There will be γάρ for καιρός a time ὅτε when τῆς - ὑγιαινούσης sound διδασκαλίας teaching οὐ not ἀνέξονται they will endure, ἀλλά but κατά according to τάς the ἰδίας own ἐπιθυμίας desires, ἑαυτοῖς to themselves ἐπισωρεύσουσιν they will gather around [them] διδασκάλους teachers, κνηθόμενοι having an itching τήν - ἀκοήν ear, καί and ἀπό from μέν indeed τῆς the ἀληθείας truth τήν - ἀκοήν hearing, ἀποστρέψουσιν, they will turn away; ἐπί unto δέ then τούς - μύθους myths ἐκτραπήσονται. they will be turned aside. Σύ You δέ however, νῆφε be sober ἐν in πᾶσιν, all things, κακοπάθησον, endure afflictions, ἔργον [the] work ποίησον do εὐαγγελιστοῦ, of an evangelist, τήν the διακονίαν ministry σου of you πληροφόρησον. fully carry out.

Σπούδασον Be diligent ἐλθεῖν to come πρός to με me ταχέως· quickly; Δημᾶς Demas γάρ for με me ἐγκατέλιπεν has deserted, ἀγαπήσας having loved τόν the νῦν present αἰῶνα age, καί and ἐπορεύθη he has gone εἰς to Θεσσαλονίκην, Thessalonica, Κρήσκης Crescens εἰς to Γαλατίαν, Galatia, Τίτος [and] Titus εἰς to Δαλματίαν· Dalmatia.
